Having used Battery Tenders for years I was feeling that they weren't doing their job any more

when a 2 year old battery would not start the bike after being charged/tended. The light

on the Tender said it was fully charged but it wasn't. Having read a review on some of the

new charges decided on the Optimate 3+ Motorcycle Battery Charger. So far it fixed two batteries

I am notoriously bad at keeping my battery plugged in but this thing keeps them alive. I am a very light rider and so my bike sits around a lot and battery is almost always dead. This unit has never had an issue recovering and making the battery like new.

Great charger / maintainer!!! I have gone through two top quality motorcycle batteries in the last few years. My local Yamaha shop suggested this product to keep my battery always charged up. The charger maintains the battery at full charge without the risk of overcharging it. From what I understand now, letting the battery sit for weeks/months to the point of dyeing is extremely hard on them.

The light indicators on this are very handy. These lights will let you know when the system is idle, trickle charging, deep charging, and trying to recover a really messed up battery when possible.

Let me start by saying this is the exact same product as the Honda Optimate 3+ charger that sells for $75 at the dealership. The charger is completely automatic and lets you know what its doing and the state of the battery at all times. I recently had to make a 100 mile trip back to the dealership with what appared to be electrical system problem. The battery tested fine and indicated it was fully charged and would hold a charge with my other motorcycle battery charger. Drove over 2.5 hours to find out the battery had a shorted cell. This thing is amazing. My motorcycle battery was only about one year old but it was already gone because I do not ride much anymore. I had a battery tender attached to it, but it did nothing to keep it charged properly. After a full recharge at the place where I bought it, the battery went dead again in less than one week. Then I bought this unit. This TecMate brought it back to life. After the first twenty four hours of recharging, the red light was permanently on, telling me that this unit had done everything possible, but could not get it fixed (i.e., the battery could no longer maintain the charge). I kept it connected and attached to my bike. The standard cycles went on (30 minutes each). The red light was still on many times but after the charging process (green light flashing).
