I saw this radio at a recent Indiana hamfest. I almost bought it there but decided not to due to never having heard of this brand. After researching it online and reading reviews I decided to find one. So far the radio seems to work great!!! After getting it programmed I took it out for a test trial. All in all both transmit and receive quality was excellent.

As with the reviews I strongly suggest getting the programming cable and software. The only issue I had was having to find the updated cable driver and radio software since my PC wouldn't recognize either. Just a few minutes of searching online and I was good to go.

This is my first dual band ht, and I would recommend it. I bought the radio, cable and speaker mic for under $100 including shipping. Also the extra batteries are pretty cheap.

I am really enjoying this little radio. RX and TX work well even with the shipped rubberduck. This version of the Baofeng UV5 series is easy to setup for repeater operation. This is my favorite early Chrostmas present.
