Lanzar OPTIMC90 Opti Drive 700 Watts Motorcycle/ATV/Snowmobile Mount 4CH Amplifier w/Dual handle-bar

Lanzar OPTIMC90 Opti Drive 700 Watts Motorcycle/ATV/Snowmobile Mount 4CH Amplifier w/Dual handle-bar Mount Aluminium Diecast Weatherproof Speakers w/MP3/Ipod Input and USB Charger
  • 350 Watts X 2 Micro Amplifier with wire harness
  • 2+2 Channel for up to four speaker hookup (87 Watts x 4)
  • 3.5mm Stereo Input Jack, Easy Connection to the Output of Other
  • 3'' Dual Aluminum die cast bullet Speaker
  • Kapton Voice Coil

After thorough research, I found this Lanzar System to be "the best bang for the buck". It is a great price for what you get, a LOUD audio system. I have a 2007 M109R with loud pipes. Needless to say, I can hear my music at any speed. That includes freeway/highway speeds.

If you're searching for a simple, yet effective audio system for your motorcycle, I highly recommend this Lanzar 700 watt system. Installation was simple and all necessary hardware was included.

After installing the amp and all the wiring on the bike, I finally got around to putting the speakers on. When I opened the package I found that one of the speakers was broken inside the housing. (The magnet had seperated from the speaker cone) Just try and get a replacement from Lanzar. It is IMPOSSIBLE. I was told to send back the defective speaker which I did, FedEx tried three times to deliver it to the Lanzar Service Department and ALL three times they could not get anybody to accept the delivery. Now the package is sitting somewhere in New York's FedEx facility. This was a big mistake and I hope that none of you make the same one.I know for the price it can be an attractive way to add tunes to your motorcycle but trust me when I say, reasearch before you buy. I found a domestic product that put this to shame for 20 bucks more. Good Luck.

Just installed these on my Road King. The brackets for the speakers fit under the nut for the mirrors making the installation very quick and the look very integrated. The power is plug and play and fits right into the Harley harness under the seat. I easily screwed the amplifier on the frame behind the front wheel for maximum airflow. Everything hides nicely under the nacelle and no wiring is noticeable. The speakers sound great for such little things and nothing else is really needed, but I also installed a 6" sub woofer which totally fills out the sound.

However, a couple of things could be better. The universal mp3 player bracket is not worth risking using for anything, get a bracket that holds your phone/mp3 player. Don't even mess with the volume control, it distorts the sound and crackles. Better to use the volume on your mp3 player and plug the system directly in. The USB port isn't well enough isolated so it cannot be used on my iphone while playing music (too much crackles and distortion), however it works on it's own and charges fine.

These are loud enough on their own for most driving, but if you have loud pipes, a sub woofer or an extra set of speakers is not going to hurt.

Well... I received my package today and I was very concerned when it arrived in a Subway dinner cardboard box... But I was happy to see that the inside contained a new package with the item in it. I am all for recycling, but I expected a new item to be NEW in the box (even the shipping box).

The item is VERY durable... Nice heavy metal chrome on all the parts including the USB charging port. The HUGE circuit board on the USB line is a pain though, kinda made threading that wire around the gas tank a pain... But overall I was very impressed.

My neighbor has a fully stocked garage with every tool a man could dream of... And we started around 830PM and finished around midnight (3.5) hours. The install was on an 09 Vstar, removed the gas tank and some other items and got to work.

I LOVED the fact that the amplifier could be mounted on the outside frame of the bike (weather proof) and that I didn't have to find a dry place for it. Because my glove box is already full of electronics for the flashing rear brake lights, etc.

The handle bar mounts for the speakers were a bit tricky to get the screw started... But other than that, I would recommend this item to anyone who can solder some wires and turn a screw driver.

In closing...

I was VERY VERY VERY impressed with the hardware that came with it. VERY heavy duty metal and a nice chrome finish.

The sound??? For 3.5 inch speakers they are ok, but I would have liked more bass.

Overall.. For 130 bucks... I think it is a worth while investment!

Time will tell since I ride all winter, in rain, etc.

Updates to this review resulted in 4 1/2 stars being taken town to 3.

Things to note:

1 Speakers MUST be pointed DIRECTLY at you to hear it at highway speeds (65MPH) and even then you really can't "listen" to the music, you can only "hear" it. Can't understand the words, just hear the noise.

2 Speaks came with some decative Lanzar black rubber/plastic thing down the side. 4 hours of sitting in the sun and the glue became weak and it started to pop off.

3 USB plug doesn't have a noise filter on it, or if it does... It's not good. Can't keep USB plugged into my Sony MP3 player while bike is running. Tons of noise, pops, etc. Must inplug it when using it.

4 USB Socket (chrome) one that comes with unit... Make sure you don't mount it where wind can hit it... Your USB plug will fall out while in motion. Having a tighter fit or rubber to hold it in place would have been nice.

NOTE: If you have FACTORY PIPES... I am sure the stereo would sound great at highway speeds. But almost everyone runs modified pipes, cuz loud pipes save lives.

The unit arrived on time. I installed the unit speakers and ran my wiring. All wiring tested perfectly prior to first test. When I turned it on for the first time, I did not get very good sound. I was using my Smart Phone for my source of music. I tried 2 other devices, an pod and Sansa MP3 player. All had offered the same poor quality and static. As I disconnected the Sansa, I noticed the sound got better if the input jack was not all the way in. I tested the 1/8" jack from the unit and found that the ground connection was on completely grounded. Of the left and right leads only one was getting signal, the other was completely dead.

I understand quality control can sometime miss somethings. However, I have emailed technical support twice and had no response.

Purchase this equipment at your own risk.

  • This FM Transmitter is the perfect way to get sound from your iPod, PDA, MP3 into your car.

There are several comments about static. You can remove the static by turning the volume on high on the mp3, and adjusting the radio volume. This immediately removes the static.

It worked first time for me. Looks like some people have had trouble. It worked on the channel like it came set -the lowest one (107.6?). If I wiggle the plug into the headphone jack, I get static -so I stopped wiggling. I have a 1-ton, 4WD truck with a stiff suspension and I've yet to hit a bump that causes the static.

Sound is clear and good quality. The thing is only about 2.5" long so it fits anywhere. 12V adapter is great & no replacing batteries (2) AAA's. If you don't want the power cord, it unplugs from the transmitter.

It seems that a dozen sellers market this thing under different names. It's so much cheaper than the others that it's worth a try, even if you decide you'd rather pay more for high-end unit. The expensive ones probably use the same electronics in a bigger box. ;")

I received the transmitter yesterday. Here is what I learned:

1. You need to have batteries in the device to let it transmit. If you just use the supplied car adapter, you get nothing.

2. Be very careful turning the power on. Apparently, I pressed too hard and now the button is stuck in the on position. I'll be getting a screwdriver out to open up the unit and see why it is permanently on.

3. Be careful how hard you pressed the power when turning it on. The transmitted sound comes with a lot of static if you pressed to hard.

4. Sound quality is poor. I expected some reduced quality from the unit to my speakers, but the filtering just seemed like too much.

I am glad this only cost me $5.53 including shipping. I figured that if I had a bad experience, I could warn others and then drop $40 on a decent unit. If it worked, I would have saved about $25. I took the risk and lost. I've ordered the MBL-FM XMTR300 (Monster RadioPlay 300 Universal Full Spectrum FM Transmitter for $38.13).

I've owned a similar item, the only difference was that it operated on 88.1 to 88.9 which worked great almost everywhere, but ended up short circuiting and I would struggle to receive a signal, so I decided to purchase this item. I plugged it in and it works great in Eastern Idaho, but I drove to SLC and attempted to use this item and all I received was static or feedback from other stations. I recommend this item if you live in a rural area that doesn't use 106.? as a radio frequency.

Very impressed by the quality of this device, considering the low price. Some times you have to position it a certain way to get the best quality sound without static, but not a big deal. I purchased an additional one for my son, and he loves it.

Car DVR HT200A Full HD 1920*1080P 30FPS 4X digital zoom waterproof HDMI H.264 sport action camera

Car DVR HT200A Full HD 1920*1080P 30FPS 4X digital zoom waterproof HDMI H.264 sport action camera
  • 5.0Mega pixels COMS sensor

  • 720p(1280*720)/30FPS.VGA(640*480)/60FPS
  • SD Card slot (Support Max.32GB SDHC)
  • Bulit-in microphone

The camera works well and takes great 1080P HD movies in the daytime but night performance is quite poor, not as good as some other less expensive cameras. The video is dark and everything looks brown and fuzzy at night so it's best to use this model just in the daytime. Also it's a sports cam not a car DVR. Although it can be used in a car it won't come on and start recording automatically. It also has a few other issues. Due to being waterproof there is a heavy rubber cover over the buttons that makes them hard to press. Also the mic, which is inside the case, doesn't pick up much sound unless the back cover is open but with it open you get a lot of rattling noise. The mounting hardware also has issues. The angle bracket and the suction cup mount connect with 4 small prongs but they have a bump on them that prevents sliding into the holes they are supposed to go into. I had to file them off a bit before they would go together. The suction cup is large and has a sticky surface that stays on when it's attached but the prong that the camera sits on is small and lets the camera vibrate and bounce around all the time. Also the knob that is turned to attach the suction cup has a big detent it drops into when it's turned all the way on but then it won't easily come undone to remove it. I purchased different mounting hardware on ebay to use instead of the supplied one, a different suction cup with a metal camera mount attached to it that doesn't vibrate. In addition the mounting plate on the bottom of the camera is attached with 8 small screws that go into little plastic pins and 3 of them are starting to break already so it will probably have to be glued on with epoxy eventually.

HQRP Solar Power Controller 10Amp 150W with Digital LED Display plus HQRP UV Chain / UV Radiation He

HQRP Solar Power Controller 10Amp 150W with Digital LED Display plus HQRP UV Chain / UV Radiation Health TesterFor the past few years I used the SunForce 7A charge controller and it worked very well. When I added another panel to my small system I upgraded to this model to handle the extra few amps.

This charger is really a step above the SunForce model in the same price range. It is not simply an "on/off" solid state switch... it controls/limits the current to the batteries to maintain a very precise voltage. When the batteries have been fully charged, it then float-charges at a constant rate. This will keep the batteries much healthier over time than simply cycling between 13.1V and 14.2V. If you are using SLA or Gel-SLA batteries, I think you'll really find this charger is made for these types of batteries.

I like the output load control. A simple push-button on the front of the unit turns the load on/off, and the small "digital LED display" is just a red LED indicating if the load is on. It doesn't give any sort of digital readout like the details above say, however it's not necessary if you have your voltmeter handy.

The LED indicators are sufficient, telling you if the solar system is providing power, the battery condition, and the load state. The wiring terminals seem sturdy and can handle 10-gauge wire which is nice. As others have said, the manual is sort of a joke. It gives you the bare basics but since this is a pretty simple device you don't need a book to figure it out.

Really pretty happy with this unit. I was considering the SunForce 30A charger which is over 2x the price of this unit, but glad I tried this one first.

While the instructions are minimal and apparently made by those for whom English is not the first language the unit itself is first class and an order of magnitude better than the SunForce 7amp controller, which is just an on/off electric switch. My only complaint is that the LEDs are recessed and diffused, and viewable only from directly in front of the unit. I strongly urge anyone considering the SunForce controller to spend another $10 and buy this vastly superior product. It's hard to believe that there is only a $10 difference in price between this unit and the SunForce.

There was a good week delay before this vendor shipped. The product is very straightforward to hook up, and has reversed polarity protection. The green lights on the unit were indicating my battery was fully charged, yet it was only at 12.2 V (not fully charged at all). As one other person indicated, the low-voltage cut off is fairly low, and your battery would be severely depleted before disconnecting. Having a higher voltage cut off would be much better for the battery. This is basically an entry-level controller, so I figured I'd got about what I paid for. I would certainly not choose as controller for a large array, but for one or 2 panels it should perform adequately. I have yet to check the higher voltage cut off, but is it supposed to kick off at 13.1 V. The maximum input voltage is supposed to be about 14.4 V, and have not seen readings higher than this. There seems to be a lot of "noise" on input voltage, but it gets the job done nevertheless. Again, about worth what I paid for it. This is certainly not a high-end product, but does perform adequately for the price.

I truly enjoy this purchase.

The feature I like most is the ability to use 6mm2(10ga) wire from my solar panels.Where as most controllers only accept 4mm2(12ga) wire.

The item I like the least is the Digital feature. I thought it was a digital read out display,it turns out it is a digital controlled display. This is a minor misunderstanding on my behalf. Still I enjoy the size, price, amp rating, but mostly the wire terminal lugs ability to accept 10ga. wire.

I recommend this product.

This is a good charge controller unit. It's passable as a low voltage load disconnect but at 11.1v disconnect, your battery is almost completely drained and that is not good for the battery.

But, I've looked around a lot for low voltage disconnect devices, and short of paying almost $100 for a certain unit that can only function as EITHER a charge controller OR a lvd, I have not found any devices that fit both needs together. Shame this unit does not have the adjustability for the low voltage disconnect, then it'd be perfect.

So, until someone produces such a device, I recommend this one for the cheap side of things, and using an LCD or audible alarm to warn when the voltage on your battery drops below 12.1+/to disconnect it manually so you are not damaging the battery by excessive discharge.

I found the product to be well engineered and well functioning. I only had one problem with them and that was in the assembly on the springs: it was very hard to line up the holes in the nuts with the holes in the bolts to put the keeper clips through. I finally ended up sharpening a finish nail and driving it through each nut/bolt. Super hard when you are laying on your back under a truck!

I was advised to purchase this size solar panel by a friend so I could keep my RV deep

cycle battery from discharging. The second day camping , I set up the solar panel on top of my

camper shell and hooked it up to my trailer battery. By 11:00 am the battery was fully charged.

The only thing I added was some insulated electrical connectors from Home Depot. The solar

panel works great, I no longer need to be concerned about saving power to make the battery last.

I have plenty of power to last however long I stay.

Monster Outlets to Go USB PowerPack

Monster Outlets to Go USB PowerPack
  • Compact and stylish design makes it easy to charge devices in your car
  • Included cigarette lighter adapter provides up to 10W
  • Integrated hybrid charger powers almost any two USB devices at home, in the car or on the go

To be clear, this is a box about the size of a deck if cards. It has fold out ac prongs to plug into the wall. In that configuration it provides two usb ports for charging with a total of 5w of power. The round usb port can be pried loose from the box and it is a very small single car charger converting your cigarette port into a usb charger. No cables are included.

Negatives the round part can be difficult to pull out with your fingertips or nails; the ac wall prongs cause the adapter to take up most of a normal two plug wall outlet. It is possible to plug in something else above it, but only a slim lamp plug or similar.

Buy Monster Outlets to Go USB PowerPack Now

This new Monster Outlets to Go USB PowerPack is a fascinating device for a number of reasons. To start with, it's a true 2-in-1 charger that will allow you to charge just about any two USB devices at the same time. It has enough punch charge tablets, smartphones, MP3 players, digital cameras and more.

It's truly flexible in that when you plug this PowerPack into a wall outlet or power strip, it offers two USB ports that will deliver up to 15W of power, so you can charge two devices simultaneously. Add to this, when you need true charging for when you're mobile in your car, you can easily remove its built-in cigarette lighter adapter (see the one with the round silver ring) and have a single USB port in your car that provides "up to 10W of rapid-charging power" as noted in the specs, so this gives you very flexible charging options while at home, work or when you're on the road.

The plug has retractable prongs that fold away neatly when not in use, and it also offers one of the narrowest form factors that this user has seen when plugged into a wall or a power strip. Unlike many similar two-port (or even many single-port) USB chargers, the narrow design allows it to be plugged into the same space that you would use for a simple two-prong lamp... it's that narrow.

The Monster Outlets to Go USB PowerPack has the thinnest form factor that this user has found for a two-USB charger, and that make it handy when outlet space is at a premium. Being a hybrid vehicle/wall charger makes it quite versatile, but don't leave the part that goes into the cigarette lighter in your vehicle or the versatility will be lost.

Pros:

1. Relatively compact, takes about the same amount of space as a small wall wart, allowing another plug to be used on one side but extending below the outlet (so it might occupy two sots on a power strip.

2. Versatility: it's not just that you can use it indoors or in the car, the lower outlet conducts 12V and can be used with any dc adapter, which has its uses.

3. You can replace the bottom USB port with a USB DC splitter which would allow you to charge even more devices simultaneously (although depending on their output you would want to plug your tablet on top.

Cons:

1. Difficult to remove the DC USB adapter.

2. Price

Conclusion: Price is really the sticking point. It is convenient and useful, but at around $50 it's just a little steep for what you are getting. I'd rather just buy a standalone car adapter and carry around some extra wires. I think ~$30 would be a better price-point.

As a Vine reviewer I take this a bit serious. I am asked to review products and tell you the consumer what is and is not worthy of your hard earned dollars. I must admit I hoped this was going to be an excellent product. But its not and for the price point it is even more disconcerting. To start with understand what this is ...and most importantly isn't.

It is a usb charger. So it can if you have a cord that plugs from your device to this, charge your phone, zune, ipod, kindle, ect. It will replace the need to bring all those seprate chargers...but you still need the cords.

It is not a portable battery pack, power pack, or self contained charger. It "needs" power to make power.

So its a good way to safe packing space right, and cheaper than buying spare power adapter or other usb power plugs for your home or car right?....no...sorry its not. And to boot it takes up 2 spaces on most power outlets so it does not save you there either...

So unfortunately unless you got money to burn and need the "Moster" name...look else where. such as here

I was hoping for a great little device to charge the motley group of electronics our family possesses. With 5 kids and 2 adults, something always needs charging. Usually that's when we're headed out the door. The car adapter was the selling point for me. That's also where it failed too.

As a plug into the wall charger, it did fine. It charged several things well (Mp3 players, phones). In the car it was a different story after and hour and a half charging a Nook, it had gotten almost nowhere. Then we tried to remove the adapter Research and Development obviously left them in their cars because the blasted things have almost no place to grip them to pull them out. Luckily we hadn't pushed it all the way in. The next time we used it we left the adapter sticking out further to ease removal. When we pulled it out, or attempted to, the ring popped off and we had to get a pair of pliers to grip the thin sharp edges for removal it's not going back in.

This was the second PowerPack we received because the car charger part didn't work in the first package (even plugged into the wall). They were quick to replace the first though.

Anyway, I was mainly interested in this for the car adapter part and I found that extremely lacking I can't recommend it at this price. I'm sure there are other wall units at cheaper prices that are just as capable.

Upon arrival all the dimensions were identical accept there was no quick charge recepticle tab on the top front of the upright stem. I set it into my original charger and after 48 hours the battery would run a flashlight, but not a drill or skil saw. I then disassembled the stem and soldered a quick charge tab at the top front of the stem and then it only took 2 hours to recover the amperage needed to drive my heavier usage power tools. So it is now working satisfactorily and I will reorder in the future the same product as needed because I cannot find a source for my originals!

Aerielle i2i FM Transmitter and Charger for iPod and MP3 Players (Black)

Aerielle i2i FM Transmitter and Charger for iPod and MP3 Players
  • Plays portable MP3 player tunes through any available FM radio frequency
  • Aerielle Enabled® technology
  • Compatible with all MP3 players, including all models of iPod
  • USB port for charging
  • Audio cables and USB cable included

I owned and used a DLO FM transmitter for the Creative Zen Vision:M until it fell apart (and the Zen Vision:M itself was replaced by a Zen 32GB), so I needed a new one. Not having an iPod narrowed down the choices considerably, and eventually, after doing a lot of research, I decided to risk the Aerielle i2i.

My reasons:

1. It works with any MP3 player because it functions via the headphone jack;

2. It can charge any MP3 player -or any other electronic device, for that matter -that charges on USB, and play music at the same time;

3. You can input any FM frequency between 88.1 and 107.9, especially useful when you're looking for an unused FM frequency in a big town;

4. It includes the 3.5 mm audio cable that will allow it to reproduce the player's sound. It also includes the USB cable, but most of us have dozens of those lying around.

Setting this FM transmitter up is straightforward and logical. Its compact body contains the LCD display that shows the FM frequency, the tune up and tune down buttons, three station present buttons and the power / cigarette lighter plug. The body is connected to a small extension by a short cable. This extension contains the 3.5 mm audio jack (for sound) and the USB connector (for charging). Although this layout seems awkward at first, it makes sense because you never have to remove the transmitter from the power socket to plug or unplug devices from the 3.5 mm or USB connectors -everything is close by and easily reachable.

The Aerielle i2i seems to be solidly and well built, and its texturized finish is non-slip. It does exactly what it is supposed to do: transmit the MP3 player's sound to the car's sound system. The sound quality depends on finding a free FM band, not so easy in the congested big towns but not a problem the farther away you get from them. My first run with it was in a metropolis, so all I got was acceptable sound quality -on par with my dismembered DLO. I'll complement this review once I try the Aerielle out on the empty road, but so far it is doing well.

I have tried many FM transmitters for my Zune and this one seems to be the best available. It provides static-free reception much better than Monster, Griffin, Belkin, or the other devices on the consumer market. As another review stated, you must select a frequency where a station is not broadcasting. Otherwise, you will receive interference and bleed-over from adjacent stations. There is not a consumer-grade FM transmitter that is strong enough to block local stations due to regulations from the FCC and other countries.

I bought two different FM converters from other vendors and returned them. This unit provides the best quality and flexibility to use with iPhone/iPod and a built in USB charger. Great thinking in design. Kudos to the product disigners.

When I drive out in the country it seems to work pretty well. There is still quite a bit of hiss in quieter sections of music, but when the music is playing, it sounds good. But, it is uterly useless in an area with high FM congestion. When in Houston, I give up and turn it off. No matter what frequency I try, I get a ton of interference.

I was very skeptical of getting a product like this, and feared that it might bring out the bass or the treble too much and broadcast the music unequally. As I wrote in the title of my review, I was pleasantly surprised. Top quality noise. I live in Vegas and use 90.1 for crystal clear sound.

Pros:

Backlight isn't blinding in the dark--just about just as bright as my car stereo

USB charger output, this is hard to come by and removes the need to buy a separate DC charger

All cords included--more than long enough

Buttons are very easily to understand

Instuctions!

Cons:

Can't think of any, to be honest ;)

Fyi:

Stereo cable included is 3.5mm double-male-end

USB cable included is mini(not micro-) USB interface

This battery was the perfect replacement although the shipping left a little to be desired. One corner was torn with not the best packing for the battery and a small amount of acid leaked. Overall, a good battery and a good price.

I replaced a Yuasa Polaris battery with this one and the fit and capacity was identical to the one I replaced. It arrived in as new condition and adding the acid was easy to do. The price I paid here was well below what Polaris wanted.

Progressive Dynamics PD9280V Inteli-Power 9200 Series 80 Amp Converter/Charger with Built-in Charge

  • Electrical 80 Amp Converter W/ Chg W Pd9280Cv (Pd9280V) Progressive Dynamics, Inc

This was a replacement for a 70A charger/converter that was installed in my sailboat. The installation was easy and the performance is exactly right. I have the manual controller dongle attached and it seems to recharge my 460AH battery bank quickly.

The only information that I wish for is a set of curves that show voltage output vs current for the three modes of operation. Most people wouldn't care but I am an engineer-info freak.

Bottom lineI would recommend this unit to anyone who needs a robust charger for a bank of batteries.

I had no problem installing and it worked as described. I like the remote indicator that comes with it which my old converter didn't have. The batteries came up to float and I don't have any loss of water.

I have used this brand before with excellent results, so when it was deemed that the present one on the new trailer was very weak (China), this was my only choice. It is USA made. The small cheap ones don't give you much charging power and you must conserve the 12 volt useage. This one has a 14 volt boost mode that will keep your batterys charged and lights bright. Before, the interior lights looked like yellow bug lights.

My 42' Travel Trailer's power converter died. This was my first encounter a Power Converter. I have used this one for a year and it has responded to every thing I have asked of it. The price was right. I was amazed how easy installation was. Unplug the old, plug in the new. It worked for me.

Jump-N-Carry JNC300XL 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light

Jump-N-Carry JNC300XL 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light
  • 900 peak amps and 225 cranking amp, with 27 inches of #4 gauge jumper cables
  • Full size clamps to penetrate battery corrosion
  • Equips with a high intensity work light
  • Note: This item is Hazmat and non-returnable
  • This item is not for sale in Catalina Island

We purchased the JNC300XL about a year ago to power a camera system we were developing for a truck. We needed 12Vdc vehicle power while in the lab and in the field for testing off the vehicle. It charges quickly, holds a charge for months and is light and compact. Last summer my wife called to say she was first in a left turn lane on a busy expressway and her car stalled and would not start. I grabbed to JNC300XL where it had set for months without a charge and off I went. I connected it to her battery and it provided plenty of power to turn over her fair sized V6 engine and start the car. The nice thing is it was a quick hook up. I wasn't in the middle of a busy road trying to get my car close enough to her car to string a couple of jumper cables. It is great for powering gadgets that normally plug into a cigarette lighter for power. You unplug the "flashlight" on the front of the unit to access the cigarette lighter plug. As with all batteries it should be charged every several months to keep the batteries from becoming un-chargeable. Since it is a sealed spill proof lead-acid battery like a car battery it does not have a memory nor will it be damaged by being topped off once in a while. It will die if left discharged for a long period. The manual can be found at

I already had a JNC 660 for my truck and wanted to put smaller units in each of our cars. I bought 3 of these, then 2 more for Christmas gifts. They are easy to use and much more dependable than the cheap imports with lots of whistles and bells.... I prefer the larger unit for my dodge 1500 with a V-8 (I've jumped it 5 or 6 times between charges without a problem... electrical trouble...) This smaller unit is great for our Toyota 4 cylinder cars and Chrysler Concorde with a 3.5 6 cylinder. These beat the heck out of jumper cables, and my daughter and wife don't have to ask strangers for help... or wait for AAA.

Changing my 1-star review to 3-stars. I purchased this unit but it wouldn't start my 1997 Land Rover Discovery V8 -at least not by following the standard directions. I spent over an hour with it over two days trying to start the car but it simply wouldn't turn over. This said, I was able to start the car using jumper cables connected to another vehicle, and AAA was able to start the V8 with a similar but larger portable unit. I finally called Clore Automotive Technical Support at (800) 328-2921. First off, they were super nice. They suggested that the JNC300XL may or may not work with a V8 truck, that a larger unit might be required, especially if the truck battery were completely dead. AAA had been out several days earlier, tested the Land Rover battery, so I knew it was OK, it was just low.

The Clore technician asked how I was connecting the unit. I said I followed the instructions, connecting the red lead to the red battery terminal and connecting the black lead to a non-moving metal engine part. He said, "There's your problem. You should connect both cables directly to the battery. They tell you not to do this in the directions, to avoid sparks, but it's what you need to do." I tried it and the Land Rover started instantly. So, it works and looks like this unit can save me in a pinch. I will keep it in my car from now on. I only wish the instructions included this extra bit of information, or what to do if the car fails to start following the standard instructions. If you have any issues, I'd recommend calling Clore Support.

GREAT PRODUCT! for the price.

I spent 2-3 hours on-line looking for what I needed. A Battery Jumper: 1) not too much money, 2)would help me start my car immediately...This accomplished both needs. This is the cheapest, most reliant item. Ignore the Black&Decker item. I read too many bad reviews.

I used this one 5 times (within 2 months) before I took my car into the shop to correct the REAL problem ---My real problem: I bought a cheap replacement battery.

This item saved me from having my Auto Club telling me, "SORRY, YOU HAVE CALLED US TOO MANY TIMES".

I wish all cars had auto shut-off feature so that it turns off the headlights and all electronics (except for door lock), so that if you forget to turn these off and remove the key, it wouldn't be sucking power off of your car's battery. My Mercedes would turn off the headlights and all electronics but my Honda would not. Having been spoiled by the Mercedes, I often forget to turn off the headlights and interior lights on my Honda, resulting in a dead battery.

Since I bought this jump starter, fortunately I didn't have to use it because I never ran into a situation. But just yesterday, I had someone walk up to me as I was proceeding to get into my car, asking if I had a jumper cable. I told him I had more than just a jumper cable and handed him this jump starter. Five minutes later, the guy came back very happy and told me that it worked on the first attempt.

Even though I had charged it almost 3 months ago, it worked on the first attempt which is reassuring. I didn't want to write a review of this product until I had tested it and now I am doing it because I do think this is a great product and can save you a lot of hassle. Please make sure to take it out to fully charge it every 3-4 months so you don't end up with a dead battery AND a dead starter.

***Update 09/04/2011***

Just to give you update, I have been using this product for more than a year now. I only had to charge it once. Its internal battery is just amazing if you're only using this for a quick jump-start every once in a while. I have used it at least more than a dozen times and it has always worked flawlessly. I last charged it several months ago and it still shows that the internal battery has enough juice to go on (two green LEDs).

Even after using it for more than a year, I am still raving about it. This purchase was well worth it and it has saved me a lot of time since I bought it.

Note that this product does work. It charges via the input on the GPS itself, rather than via the suction cup cradle. The coiled cord is so short however, that I struggled to maintain good connectivity between the cigar lighter and the GPS, mounted on my windshield.

My power cable broke on my Garmin, which I learned is almost impossible to get fixed, other than by sending the device back to the factory. This product was an excellent work around, allowing me to power my Garmin through the mini USB port.
