I bought this little marvel for my new iPod Classic 80GB... I saw this and tought it would be great for when I'm travelling, in the beach or out for some photoshoot... And I was right man!

I use this with some 2100 Ni-mh and It recharges my iPod without any problem and really fast... about 80% charge in a mere 15 minutes... and you can even charge while the iPod is working. I haven't got into how many charges can it make per a couple of AA's... but with the Ni-Mh's at least 4 or 5.

Let me do you a favor: do no hesitate, just buy it... is trully amazing (and let's face it... is pretty cheap ah?)

I just got this and even though it has a "works with iphone" tag on it, it does not work with the iphone 3g. The company support was very helpful and they say they're working on it. But for now, it does not work. I'll be returning it.

I wrote a review of the cell-phone turbo charger I had issues, with the process, not the product. This item is great and it really does work. Recently I was on a long trip and used it to continue watching movies on my IPod Classic. The actual charger is the same for the cell phone and IPod. If you have one, you just need to order the adapter for the other. (IPod classic takes adapter TA202).

This is a great little device and it does what it advertises. I can't say it does it any faster than standard USB charging, but it does charge nonetheless. On an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. it is pretty much only good for one charge and then you need to put in another set of batteries. I still find this a better option than a built-in battery because you can find AAs anywhere and not to mention rechargeable AA NIMH batteries. Why AA NIMHs are a better option? Well you can get them in two flavors: 1.) Regular that take a bit to charge and 2.) Fast Rechargeable NIMHs that can usually be charged in 15 minutes. I don't believe any built-in battery devices can recharge in 15 minutes. So charge your batteries in 15 minutes and you got a backup ready when needed.

I don't have anything else to add because most of the other reviews have covered it. I just wanted people to know that it does work with an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. and I highly recommend it.

This battery terminal works ok and cheaper than replacing the cable. It seem to corrode faster than the lead terminals which is easy to keep clean with any corrosion block. I would buy it again.

I needed an OER factory style terminal so I could properly attach the factory harness to the other electrical components. This terminal fits and serves its purpose but I don't know why they chose to use standard zinc plated nuts & bolts. It seems to me that the nuts and bolts will eventually corrode and fail. I would have given it 5 stars if they used brass nuts & bolts.

The picture shows 2 cords. You only get one. The reason you need 2 is because the ipod charger and the itrip fm trnasmiter charger are different. If you are listening on fm radio and you need a charge you will have to stop listening. buy the Griffin 9769 it has 2 cords.

This charger works great with my 1st gen Nano. I listen to Audio books. I hear no high pitched hiss or any other extra sounds when the charger is plugged in.

I've purchased 2 of these chargers because they work quite effectively. They also come with an extra USB charging cable that works flawlessly with your iPhone 3G or 3GS. The main car charging unit has a female USB connector as well as a handy replacable fuse just in case you connect it to the wrong voltage or it just wears out.

You must be very careful when selecting a car charger for either your iPod Classic, iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS because each and every product has a slightly different voltage that is not necessarily compatible with every charging unit. I went through 3 chargers before I found this one and it performs flawlessly!

To ensure that the car charger is effectively charging your iPhone or iPod, pay attention to the charging icon in the upper righthand corner of the screen. If the icon shows a battery with a lightning symbol in it for longer than 5 minutes, you can be assured it's charging properly. Well made and solid. I am using it to power some small motors like air compressors and electronics while camping. I am not sure if it will power larger equipment as it does run off the battery. Just to be safe I run the engine while I use the lamps and compressor.

Purchased for my 2000 Toyota 4Runner with 3 120W 12V outlets for use on long trips etc., based on positive reviews here. The 120V AC output of the charger works well for my Lenovo t61p and a friend's Toshiba Satellite laptops. I've used it for about 2 hrs since my purchase so far. Construction is of decent quality plastic and the product feels solid.

However, there are a few quirks you should be aware of. Minor, but nuisances nonetheless, and enough to subtract two stars from the rating.

1) The click-angle head of the product is weak. It cannot support the weight of the product outlet head and a plug at an upwards angle -it will creep downwards as you drive with your car's driving vibrations. The click head more or less holds its place when used horizontally.

2) The click-angle head's rotational range is narrow. The range or motion shown on the product picture is its maximum range of motion. Due to the adapter's large size, it may not fit your vehicle if the 12V outlet is right behind your shifter, etc.

3) The cooling fan is loud during operation, even when only using the USB outlets. The noise is bearable on the highway amongst highway vehicle noise (and my truck's on the loud side by today's standards), but the constant whine is unpleasant during street driving. You should purchase a separate adapter for dedicated use with USB devices. I think the noise is about equivalent to a vacuum cleaner behind a thick door or 2.

I would consider a corded inverter instead of this product for space use flexibility and placement muffling -the noise will be far less obnoxious say, under your legs than on the dash console; even if the other product is equivalently loud.

For the longest time CTEK has aimed at the european car market with 8, 10 mm eyelets, DIN dashmount adapters, etc. For the first time we have their jack with 1/4" (YES INCH) eyelets. This makes for great compatibility on power panels with 1/4" hardware that never fit right with mm sized eyelets.

The 1/4 rings allow you to install a permanent jack for long term storage or recharging dead batteries on american cars. This is not the version with the red, green, yellow LEDs to indicate charge status on the battery those are higher priced by a few dollars and allow you to read the charge status of the battery by watching which LED flashes.

None of the LED indicator models that I have reviewed (priced higher than the simple jack like this) have american hardware yet, so if you want that feature just cut the xx mm ring off, strip the wire back and crimp on the connector which best fits your fuseblock. I have the weathertech branded charger, that apparently is a CTEK charger. The comfort connect is a bit more sturdy than the typical pigtail. The length of this connector is perfect for my Ducati 848. It is hidden just inside the fairing but accessible.

Works great, using one on my wife's Honda 750 Aero and the one that came witht the chareeger on my Honda vtx 1300c. Easy to connect. I tuck mine in behind the side panel on the left side, so its not just hanging down from the bike, then just take the side panel off to plug it in. I may secure with a tie eventually, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Maybe now my batteries won't keep dying!

Last year when the power went out I realized that keeping the refrigerator going was my top priority. When the items arrived I connected the power inverter to a deep cycle battery and then plugged in the refrigerator. I kept it going for half an hour and noticed no appreciable drop in the battery's voltage. I then recharged the battery with my trickle charger. I don't know how long the setup will keep working when needed but I feel reassured that it will be long enough.

I bought it to use as a backup in case of power failure, to power my sump pump. At a recent storm (Sandy), I did not have to use it but I did test it to see if it would run my pump. Which it did reasonably effortlessly without practically dropping the voltage at all. If it helps I have a 1/3 hp sump pump (Zoeller M53).

I used a deep cycle battery to run my test, but probably on an ongoing basis (if and when there's an emergency) I plan to hook it up to my car and keep the engine running. Also, it seems most convenient to me to just use jumper cables to connect it to the battery (stand alone, or in my car). If someone has a better suggestion for me (and others), please do put in a comment.

I've only had it for a few days, and I will be an occasional user (if even that) so I have no idea if this thing will last me a long time or not. That's the reason I am holding back one star, and I will come back and update my review as time goes by.

Great concept, but not useable. I live in Houston (granted there are LOTS of FM stations) and the interference from adjacent stations was too much for the little transmitter to handle.

Also, the gain (volume) was not dependable and was usually too low for proper listening levels. Once again, that could have been from interference from adjacent stations.

I talked to their technical support (super nice people) and tried it on two different vehicles. No luck on either vehicle.

They let me return the item for full credit. Very nice people to deal with.

I have just about no problem with that thing, You put it between 2 stations where there is nothing and you get a clear reception. The only problem i had with it is that if i put the volume WAYYYYYYYY high on my mp3 player I get some static, you have to keep it at a certain level (But still very reasonable, Unless you like blowing up your ear drums).

I had problem with other such devices that gave me trouble just getting a signal but this one can send the signal to a distance of easily 2-3 cars away.

Finally, the only real problem i had with it is that the wire eventually broke on me somewhere (After a Year or so) and i ended up losing the "Stereo" leaving me with only Mono, but hey!, it's 5$, so i just bought an other one.

In my opinion, if anyone complains about the quality of this thing, he either lives in a place with 100% Radio stations in use, or is someone who should just spend 200$ on a radio with an Auxiliary plug... Which would cost 195$ more than this just to get a similar result.

I needed a powerful but sealed power-pack (sealed battery + converter) for poolside use, to power a large 110-volt karaoke machine for five hours a day. The Xatrex 1500 is the only power-pack I've found that meets this requirement.

It was a pleasant surprise to find that the wheels have rubber rather than (noisy) plastic treads.

The first 1500 stopped working with a bang after two hours. When I phoned the Xantrex company, the technician I soon was talking to quickly concluded that my 1500 had malfunctioned and recommended that I return it. I was pleased with this candor. The second 1500 has worked for about a month now.

Not obvious is that the 1500 has a small storage cabinet, in which I store an extension cord.

Both 1500s arrived undamaged. A disclaimer is that I bought my 1500s from costo-dot-comm, which is relevant because perhaps Costco uses different packaging for shipping.

The "large karaoke machine" is a MegaStar CM-K1100, and its average draw has been 30-something watts.

9/18/06 Update: Around July the charge time dropped to under four hours. When I called Xantrex, the technician told me that battery life is about 200 charges.

I previously ordered two of these units and wrote a review. Both were badly damaged, but one was salvagable. The other I had to return, after it overheated and emitted a noxious odor. I decided to take a chance and order another unit this month (goal was to have total of two working units), hoping that whatever warehouse or shipping issues that resulted in previous damage had been resolved. They weren't. This unit also came with crushed top and wheels. Until the manufacturer comes up with a better way to ship these heavy beasts, not worth it.

The unit failed after I owned it only five weeks. I was only actually used it a few times for short durations. I tried to use it one day and the fault light was illuminated and no ac power was coming out of the outlets. I returned it for repair or replacement 3 weeks ago after receiving a RMA number. I contacted Xantrex and they say they don't know anything about it, and the RMA number is not in there system. The customer support is impossible to get on the phone, and email support takes days to get back to you. They do offer to sell you another unit for 40% off though instead of sending me a replacement.

UPDATE: Xantrex did finally replace the first unit. Two months later the replacement also failed. They refuse to refund my money.

This is a great idea, badly executed. We bought one three years ago as a true emergency generator. We have a medical device that requires power, and our area is known for outages during the summer. But since we bought it, we have not needed to use it. We followed all manufacturer instructions for when leaving it sit idle, yet the batteries died anyway and the inverter fried itself. Replacing these cost more than buying a new unit. One of the batteries must also have developed a small leak (due to the summer heat, perhaps), and when I went to try to replace the batteries, there was corrosion all over the terminals and cables. I have to think that keeping the unit inside might not be a good idea if this happens to you, because of the potential for gas and acid release.

Xantex customer service is nearly non-existent and is geared only to selling replacement parts (but NOT batteries, which you have to look for elsewhere).

I really wish this thing worked, as a silent indoor generator is a wonderful notion. Too bad. We're still stuck with gasoline units and long extension cords.

The old original unit quit charging the batteries. This was our choice for a replacement. It is approximately the size of the old unit and fit the space ok. Seems to be working just fine. We haven't had it installed very long.

Inverter arrived in the time frame required. It arrived in good condition as the inverter is very heavy and the shipping container showed no signs of having been thrown around and damaged. I am taking one star away as I later discovered that during inspection that it was missing several needed parts. The side cover for electrical connections, the battery terminal covers, and the temperature probe and owners manual were not in the shipping box. I contacted Magnum and they informed me that this item is how they ship it out to Coach builders and they refer to it as the UPS box. Normally the install kit is also included which contains the missing items mentioned. They provided me with this item after requesting a copy of the original invoice, pictures of the original shipping container, picture of the UPS label and answering questions of who provided me with the inverter. So I did not want to contact Amazon as I felt that they would just want me to return the inverter as it arrived undamaged and at a good price. I felt a little inconvenience on my part was worth the value of Amazon's price. Magnum was very good to deal with and very helpful in providing me with what I needed and in a timely fashion. There was no charge to me from Magnum to do this as I was able to provide them with all the information that they required. They originally quoted me a price of $40.00 and shipping for these items but they did send them to me at no additional expense. I am not sure this would be the case for anyone else or in the future.
