Parrot Minikit Slim Portable Bluetooth Car Kit

Parrot Minikit Slim Portable Bluetooth Car KitAfter going through several bluetooth ear plugs, I decided to try out one of the bluetooth speaker units on the market. The parrot mini got some great reviews so I decided to give it a try. It was soooooo easy to set up. My 300 contacts were automatically transfered from my phone in a couple of minutes. The quality of sound is great. Although some people have said the volume wasn't loud enough, I've had to lower it. Great product at a great price !!! Already recommended it to many friends.

For the price, this speaker can't be beat. It's low profile and has good volume for such a small unit, yes it has address capabilities, but I have almost 3000 contacts, this is not an important feature to me. I need to hear well and to be heard, that's my only real criteria, this product does both well.

The only down side is when you turn the volume up all the way, the unit can "rattle" a bit, the sound seems mechanical, not static or the speaker itself. Not a major issue, but I have noticed this small flaw from time to time. I can't speak to the battery life as I have it hard wired to switched power.

I had several issues with this product. The biggest problem is the battery life. It has none! There is obviously something wrong with the auto shut off to save battery life. It is supposed to turn on and off automatically to conserve power but from day one, each day I got into the car it was dead. Secondly, the power cord is so short it doesn't reach the outlet from the visor. This was a total waste of money for me. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I was hoping this would make calls easier to handle while driving. I could not hear over road noise on the highway and ended up having to hold the bluetooth device in my hand like a phone. Also, the lack of an off/on indicator was annoying. In town, I felt my eyes were on the road less than just making the call with the phone. My 2009 Scion has an iPhone port(not USB) to control the radio. This device did not work if my phone was plugged into the iPhone port. I was hoping for a simple solution to update my car's capabiliity to be hands free, but it seems I am better off saving my money to have bluetooth installed in the car.

So... a little preamble to my video I shot this in my car in the middle of the day, so it's kind of hard to see how bright the LED on the XL really is. The light is actually super bright. There are three LED bulbs in there so it gives off a lot of light when it's dark out, and my video doesn't really do it justice. Also, I apologize for the poor video quality. I initially shot it in 1080p, but the file was too big to upload so I had to downgrade it to a more memory-friendly setting. Anyways, I hope you like the video and find it at least somewhat helpful. This solar charger is awesome and I take it with me everywhere. I use my droid razr pretty hard, so I need all the juice I can get, and since I never seem to be near an outlet when I need one, this thing has been a lifesaver. Places I've taken it with me so far include: beach, camping, concert, and hiking. Also, one last thing. I reccomend using the OEM usb charge cable that your device came with because some generic USB cables are shoddy and they just don't seem to work as well on average.

This Solar Charger charges my Kindle Fire no problem.I used it a half dozen times to make sure.I received the wrong attachment clip to connect to the add-on solar panel and contacted the seller who personally called me to confirm what was needed and then sent Me the correct part in around two days.I noticed the charger takes around 7 1/2 hrs to recharge via USB.I haven't actually timed the solar charge. It charges multiple small items like cell phones mp3 players etc. before needing to be recharged. So far so good....

I'm a bit dissapointed with this product. After leaving it in direct sunlight for over 20 hours, the charger capacity was still at 50%. When directly in the product details, it states 13 hrs for a FULL charge via solar. That being said, the main reason I bought this was to have a solar charger with enough Amps to charge my phones (EVO, GS3) AND tablet (Galaxy Tab 10.1), which it does. (FYI, The tab needs to be turned off to charge).

At 50% solar charged, it will only provide about 25% battery recharge to the tablet and approx 60% to my phone. So, granted it does work. But its unacceptable for a solar charger to not be able to charge 100% within 20 hrs of direct sun exposure.

I followed the instructions as stated by charging 100% via USB first and that provided 100% battery to my EVO and about 25% to the tablet. I'm torn on whether or not I keep this.

I picked this up to use while hiking and camping, and so far it's been great. It works well with my Samsung galaxy s3, and the light is a cool and useful addition. I just throw this guy on my backpack while we're out hiking or lay it out at the campsite for a few hours. Highly recommended!

I picked this up after spending an entire afternoon, from like 11:30 until a 7:30 game, at Lambeau Field for Family Day, tailgating. I had my son with me, we both had our iPhones and iPads. I didn't mind if his things got low on battery, but I wanted to make sure my phone stayed working so I had it available during the game. So every once in a while I'd plug it into the cigarette charger, and start the car and let it run for a bit, getting it back up to 80 or 85%. I realized I needed something to help me charge stuff up away from home.

So I did some digging and found this unit, and figured it was worth a shot. I liked that it wasn't strictly a solar charger, that you could charge it up via USB or wall outlet as well. On the down side you can't "charge and play", but for me that was less of a requirement.

I ordered this, and two extra solar panels. I fully charged the unit via the wall outlet, then turned an ipad onto one of my clock programs that keeps the screen lit without sleeping, and let it run down, then plugged it into this and let it run this down as well overnight while I had the LED light turned on. I then set it out on my patio table and let it charge itself back up. I had it sitting out all day, but I did not angle it to keep it tracking the sun directly (was busy doing other things). And about four oclock the sun's shadow is hitting the table anyway. It did not get fully charged during that stretch (was only about 6 or 7 hours in direct sunlight but not perpendicular to it at all times) but I didn't expect it to from what they said. The following day I did manage to get it topped off.

I bought two extra panels for it as well, and it definitely charges MUCH faster now, although I'm usually just using it via usb or wall outlet since I haven't been in a position to need to do it strictly via solar since purchase. But at least I know when I do, it'll be working well.

I, as another reviewer, had worried at first after peeling off the protective cover, since like his, mine was tucked under very well. I, too, wondered if I just did a boneheaded thing... But a tweezers got that last little corner out from under the plastic and it works like a champ.

If you get the add on panels, there is a button on the piece that bridges them to the XL (it came with one, and the panels came with one, so I actually have two adapters now in case one breaks or something) and when you push the button in sunlight, each panel has an LED that lights up to show it's completed the circuit and is charging the battery. Nice touch since otherwise there's no way to know for sure. Only complaint is the panels are kind of cheaply made, and one of mine came broken where the spring clip from the other inserts to hold it together. Fortunately I was able to use that on the outside, so there was nothing to hook there, and I can use it anyway.

The carabiner works for the unit alone, but there's no way I'd use it when I have the panels attached -as noted, they're poorly constructed where they hook to each other and those corners break easily. And I'm not sure I'd want to have this hanging from the suction cups either. They're double sided suction cups, like an hourglass, and not only would I not want this coming off the window at the wrong time while driving, they'd also impair the solar collection both cups on at the same time detracts from a large percentage of the solar panel area. But with my panels they'd not be very useful anyway.

Motorola TalkAbout T5000 8-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios

Motorola TalkAbout T5000 8-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios
  • Up to 8 mile range*
  • 22 channels, each with 38 privacy codes
  • Quiet Talk interruption filter
  • LCD battery meter
  • Dual Power (alkaline and NiMH rechargeable)

These are the radios that as a daily user, and owner of several older and newer Motorola models, consider my favorites. Thankfully, the T5000 does not incorporate the 'compander circuit' that the newest Motorolas have. Very clear audio for a consumer radio. Range is decent, have tested them up to 3/4 mile in urban terrain on the one watt channels, and that is the best to be expected. UHF frequencies are easily affected by hills and trees, and is best to consider these for use in the neighborhood or mall. Have tested 5 watt commercial radios on GMRS, and honestly, the range is not much better than the T5000.

The PTT button is more recessed than other models, giving it less tactile feedback. They do not have the advanced scan feature, no vibration, nor can the audible programming feedback be muted. Durability is average, my friend knocked the scan button off of his radio, and briefly lost the battery cover. The standard plastic swivel belt clip can get stretched out.

The included NiMH 600mah battery packs need the initial 16 hour charge, and battery life improves with several charges. After several 10 hour days, we realized that AA 2500mah rechargeables will last longer, and recommend Duracell over Energizer. A drawback to using any rechargeables is the battery meter is designed for alkalines, which causes the audible low battery chirp to sound early.

To summerize, these are worth $39 for the pair and the belt clip is ok if you're careful with it. They fit well in your hand and pocket. I recently bought a second pair of the T5000 after many weeks of using my first pair, and very satisfied with this model.

The product description talks about how the real range of this radio is basically a mile make that a short mile. We have used this radio in a wide range of settings including the outerbanks with little cause of interference and we get very poor range. Basically, when you are in range, you could yell at the other person and they could hear you. It's a VERY nice radio but it constitutes little more than a toy

With this model, you have to press the talk button in one very specific place with the tip of the thumb whereas before the pressure required to key the mic could easily be applied anywhere on the rubber switch covering.

What this does is render these radios unusable in my opinion.

Radios work well in a distribution center environment of 130,000 sq feet to improve communication with our associates.

I use this radio at work and they are good short-range radios. My son and his girlfried also used them deer hunting this past season and they worked well from ridgetop to ridgetop at the 2-5 mile range. I plan on also using them on road trips when we have to use two cars to save on cell phone use. Great Price also!

  • Rated Voltage:7.4V DC±10%
  • Output power<=5W
  • Battery type:1800mAh Li-ion battery
  • Max frequency deviation: < 5kHz(Wide)<2.5kHz(Narrow)

I talked to a Chinese student here at my college and this translated out to Stormwind which is an interesting name for a company. Now to the review.

This transceiver is very nicely made. I would thought that for the price it would be broken easily espeically when it came with a strap, ear/microphone and a charger. Now this transceiver is not for the beginner ham who doesn't have experience with programming this radio. It is highly suggested that if you buy this rig, that you get a programming cable so it is easier to program. Since the repeater offset is only good in Frequency mode, channel mode it does not save to memory.

In order to save to memory you first put in the RECEIVE frequency then Transmit frequency. Now be sure to put in the T-CTS (menu 13) or if the repeater transmits a tone then you set the R-CTS (Menu 11) For example 147.280 uses CTCSS then you would set Menu 11 and Menu 13 to the same tone. which is set in each menu item and it always starts from 67.0 even if it is set to say 100.0 good The good thing is you can type the tone in eg. 1035 will input the tone of 103.5hz before saving to the memory. Then after saving that you then have to set the offset frequency which will be 147.880 and save it to the same memory channel. When you save the receive frequency into the memory it will confirm by saying "Receiving memory." and the offset frequency by saying "Transmitting memory" and to confirm the settings exit the menu and switch to Memory mode and go to the channel you saved. It will show a +on the top of the display. Then if all is set right you should be able to access the repeater.

You have to repeat this for every channel you program. It is fine if you have 5 repeaters in your area, but very tedious if you have 25. This is why the usb programming cable is a must. This package has the handstrap even though it does not state that like other sellers do. For a radio around $50.00 it is an excellent buy for the cash strapped ham. Also a huge suggestion if you need to hear the repeater tail you must turn the STE from 5(ms) to 0(MENU 35) and RP_STE to off (MENU 36) and RPT_RL (MENU 37)

Pros:

Bright display.

Flashlight Feature (tap MONI to turn on and off this is NOT in the manual)

FM Radio Feature (Tap CALL to turn on and off this too is NOT in the manual)

5W/1W Transmitter both bands.

Dual-Watch (Suggesting that you set your TRANSMIT BAND TO A or B not OFF in MENU 34 otherwise you may transmit on the wrong band)

Color led display for TX/RX/Idle (Orange/Blue/Purple) Menu settings 29-31

Green/Red square LED to indicate Rx/Tx respectively.

Very loud receiving speaker. 1000mw. First time I owned a radio this loud.

1800mAh Battery for long standby time and a decent talk time.

Earpiece Microphone. (watch the volume level it can blast your ear out)

Drop-in Charger.

Cons:

Very limited manual.

Difficult/tedious programming scheme.

F-SMA (Reverse SMA) can be adapted from F-SMA to M-SMA for wider compatibility with an adapter there are also F-SMA to BNC as well as F-SMA to SO-239 ones that can expand types of antennas used.

This has an unlocked transmitting range on both bands so be careful if you use as a scanner, you may accidently transmit in areas you are not authorized.

Slow Scanning speed despite what the manual says.

Be advised that a particular seller (that claims to be the actual distributor for Baofeng based in KY) advertises the original UV-5R radio but then ships the UV-5RA instead. Normally this would be no big deal, as the UV-5R series of radios are exactly the same inside and have no additional features except one the "newer" UV-5RA unit has a different front plastic face plate but that newer faceplate causes additional problems the design of the newer faceplate on the UV-5RA does NOT allow you to use the normal Baofeng 3800mAH battery (nor the cheaper 3600mAH generic clone battery that the same "distributor" claims (and lists) as an actual Baofeng 3800mAH battery. They claim their generic battery will work unmodified on the UV-5R series of radios (their justification for the switch), but it doesn't. See my Baofeng Extended Battery review for more info).

Yes, you can modify (on your own) the Extended Battery so it will fit the UV-5RA (or the other series of UV-5R radios with modified faceplates), but if the "distributor" lists the UV-5R (but then switches your order to whatever they have in stock instead of what they have listed) and then ships (in the same order) a generic clone Extended Battery that isn't the actual Baofeng AND doesn't work/fit with the radio they shipped, why is it your job to modify their items to make them work?

In addition, when you (as an Amazon customer) point out their multiple listing errors (shipping a non-Baofeng battery, shipping a less than advertised 3600mAH model (vs. the actual Baofeng 3800mAH model that was advertised on the listing), and shipping an Extended Battery that won't work on the UV-5RA radios that they switched your order to and shipped with them in the same box), they claim that:

a) Baofeng doesn't even make an Extended Battery (funny since I own several already with Baofeng Electronics' label on the inside of the case and Baofeng's name imprinted into the back of the plastic battery case), and that

b) if I'm not happy I should pay to ship my order back to them (this is how they treat a customer that ordered multiple radios, extended batteries, and programming cables all at once and paid over $117 in shipping fees)?

None of these issues may bother some folks, especially those that either don't care which model of radio they get and/or never plan to get an Extended Battery as an accessory, but I wanted folks to know what customer service issues you may face in dealing with this Baofeng "distributor" in KY.

Car Charger for SanDisk Sansa Fuze Series MP3 Player - non OEM

Car Charger for SanDisk Sansa Fuze Series MP3 Player - non OEM
  • Brand new high quality (non-OEM) car charger for SanDisk Sansa Series
  • Fits into all 12V car cigarette lighter plug, charge it while you're on the road
  • Comes with a LED power indicator
  • Intelligent IC chip recognizes battery is fully charged
  • Built-in charging circuitry protects your car against back-flow current

This is a great charger for my Sansa E200 series and Sansa Fuse MP3 players.

1. Was very inexpensive

2. Shipped rapidly

3. Worked right out of the package

4. Charging while in the car is much faster than connected to the USB, but I don't think it is quite as fast as when I plug it into a wall outlet with my other charger.

The drawback for me was that when charging I could not play the MP3 player plugged into the car's MP3 jack. This is probably an issue with my car's sound system more than having anything to do with the charger or MP3 player but it may be important information to know when considering this purchase.

You CAN listen to the MP3 player as it is charging in the car if you use headphones though.

I bought this charger, used it once and then left in my glove box. A week later I needed to charge my Sansa again and the tip literally fell apart. The casing around the metal tip fell into two pieces, then the metal tip disconnected from the flimsy power and negative cables, leaving me with a completely useless charger. Spring for something more... in this instance you LITERALLY get what you pay for.

I use my Sansa in the car almost explicitly, and I was sick of it losing battery while I was driving. Bought this and with shipping it came to just a few bucks. WORKS GREAT! So affordable and works like a charm. I did notice that the actual plug itself is coming loose, but it snaps back together easily, but just keep an eye on it. Other than that, great product for a fantastic price!

EDIT:::::::

About 13 months after I have purchased this item, it will not stay in my Sansa Fuze to charge. Still at the price of a few bucks, it is still worth the price to me! But just keep that in mind that it may not function for great lengths of time

I bought this after we misplaced our wall charger. I paid under $5 for this on Amazon, it works great. Very happy with the purchase

Straightforward product, does its job well. One small issue is the cable is not very long. So, for my trunk mounted battery, I cant bring the meter all the way to the dash to see it. I bought this charger expecting it had at least 1A capacity, as I have seen in other gps wall chargers for fast charge time. But I was dissapointed when I recived it and noted that it had only 500 mAH wich is the capacity that any cellphone has. I have other two similar cellphone chargers in home. I think I waisted my money this time. :(

This little power supply is light, small and efficient. If you have your GPS off the car for use on, say, your golf cart or while walking, this will keep it charged for you overnight. It can also be used to charge cellphones, etc.

bought this cooler as a gift for my husband. he is on the road all day and tired of drive-thru. he was using a regular cooler and the ice packs just wouldn't keep drinks cool all day on the blistering hot days. my husband loves this electric cooler. he does not pre-chill the cooler before packing it, but all food and drinks placed in the cooler are pre-chilled. he does not have to add ice packs, the cooler does the job. my husband's only negative comment is he wishes the power cord was a little longer.

1st cooler was received damaged, but i called customer service and i had the replacement in 3 days. no cost to customer to return the damaged one.

Very disappointed in this product. The first time I used it the plastic hinge on the lid became distorted. The lid is difficult to open.

The instructions was a single page and though written in English, were not clear. It took me a while to figure out how to make it cool or warm. It stopped cooling after one use and I had it plugged in correctly.

The provided strap was unattached. No Instructions were included on how to attach the strap. Also, the strap is a cheaper version of what is displayed on the packaging.

I'll go back to my old ice cooler.

This cooler is a great product, no problems w/ the quaility of it. It was smaller than what I needed. I made several attempts to return & exchange for a larger model. I requested 3 times a return thru email ( as directed). With no reponse from the shipper. Extremely dissapointed with customer service!

First off, the cooler is quite small, I own a 26qt Koolatron that cost almost the same, and puts this one to shame. Sure it says 9.8qt, but it sure doesn't hold that much considering the contents you add, will be of different sizes and shapes. If you don't put your cold items inside already chilled, it will be at least 3-4 hours to reach proper temp. Do yourself a favor and buy the bigger 26qt. I can't comment on the heating aspect since I did not use that, so I gave it a 3 star instead of lower.

This is officially my sixth Optima Yellow Top battery, and the first that has had an issue requiring warranty support. Unfortunately, I was told by Optima that Amazon is not on their authorized retailer list therefore I am unable to take it to a local retailer for warranty support. I also confirmed via my Amazon account that it cannot be returned to Amazon. What to do, what to do. Well, even though it is only 9 months old, I bought a brand new Optima from my local Autozone that I know will be an easy exchange should I ever have an issue again.

Now, on to the battery: These have worked well for me in multiple applications from HD trucks to multi-amp-ed Trans Am's and even an off-road Jeep. I've never had one fail until now but be aware that these are not "plug-and-play" batteries like a wet lead-acid type that most people use and/or grew up with when it comes to charging. I'd suggest visiting Optima's web site and reading the differences between their Red, Yellow and Blue top batteries so you understand their application and the type of care and feeding they require. The Yellow covers both cranking amps for starter motors as well as deep-cycle capacity for applications with a large amperage draw such as amplifiers and accessories like winches and such. I've averaged over 6 years out of each battery until I had this one fail and two were going strong when the vehicles left my possession.

I'm guessing that a number of those who are saying this is a bad battery or doesn't last haven't taken the time to learn about them. They can be drained completely down and yet recover where a standard battery won't. But, and it is a big but, they must be recovered following very specific procedures and no, you can't simply hook up a charger and expect it to recover automatically. Do some research and you'll confirm what I already know, these are not standard batteries and yes, they are better than your standard wet-cell batteries, in my opinion. For me, they've outlasted every other type of battery I've used and are what I buy when the stock battery dies or when I need more power for accessories. Peace.

There's a lot of un-due praise for Optima batteries. I believe their reputation is over deserving. Granted batteries don't last long in Phoenix, I was expecting more than the 2 years I got out of my Yellow Top Optima; their capacity and life is not much different than cheaper quality batteries.

Negs:

The warranty is very poor, nowhere near the level of the competition.

I expected a quality deep cycle AGM to last a lot longer than just over 2 years.

Pros:

Worked well under heavy current loads. I run 5 amplifiers that draw about 80-100 amps. The Optima helped buffer the headlight-dimming effect I used to have w/ my stock battery.

Overall a good battery, but at this heavy price I would expect a battery to have a warranty to back it up past 18 months and to last longer than 2 years. If you're spending this much, check out the Diehard Platinum or others first, you'll be glad you did.

This is a great battery as long as you buy it from an authorized dealer. AMAZON is not and this voids the warranty!!! I have one that went bad just before the 3 year FREE replacement, which is very unusual with Optima batteries. The manufacturer won't honor warranty because Amazon is not an authorized distributor, they show a warranty link (bad advertizing), If you contact Amazon they say it's only good for 30 days. Terrible deal and have found it online for $20 cheaper, free shipping, and warrantied. Very disappointed with Amazon. BEWARE!!!

First of all, I am a dedicated AGM fanatic, and I won't use leaky wet-cell batteries. That said, I'm not sure if Optima is my brand any more. They just don't seem to last very long. This one was in very intermittent use, kept on a trickle charger, and gave up the ghost after 4 years of really light duty. The failure mode was a lost cell cranking voltage dropped to 7V. I'm trying out the Lifeline product line in several places maybe it will be better than Optima's so-so history with me.

Optima batteries, by virtue of their spiral cell design and construction, there is not a wetor gel-cell lead-acid battery out there that can compare in terms of charging efficiency and durability. However, do not purchase this through Amazon -it is NOT an authorized Optima dealer. Only an authorized Optima dealer, where you made your purchase, is obligated to replace a defective Optima battery with a new Optima. Check the Optima website for authorized dealers.

The above said, Optima batteries are better purchased at your local auto parts store that is an authorized dealer for the following reasons:

1. In the event of a warranty issue, it will be a simple swap.

2. Eliminate the wait and reduce shipping angst. Although an Optima battery is quite rugged, when shipped in a flimsy cardboard box and then tossed around and dropped by a careless courier, the impact by the battery's heavy bulk can cause its plastic case and the internal connections to weaken, crack, or break.

3. You can visually inspect a unit for physical damage from mishandling. Missing retaining fingers around the vent covers is a subtle but tell-tale sign that the unit has been mishandled.

4. You can check the voltage before walking out of the store with your new battery.

Hint: This is a long-lived product -purchase through a store chain (franchise) if you anticipate relocating within three years, and do not lose your receipt.

If you insist on purchasing an Optima battery online, your best bet is to order from Optima itself directly. This is the only instance that Optima (the manufacturer) will deal with you directly and give you a replacement battery. Otherwise, all warranty issues are addressed through the authorized dealer where you purchased your Optima battery.

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amp Wet/Gel/AGM Battery Charger

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amp Wet/Gel/AGM Battery Charger
  • 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amps

I have several lead-acid batteries that I need to keep charged up; I heard about desulphating chargers, then found this one. I first used it on a 5-year-old car battery whose voltage indicated that it was at about 40% capacity. After following the directions (about 6 days of desulphating), the voltage jumped up to a point that indicated that the battery was now at 90%.

I have a friend who had been trickle charging his older car battery and felt that he had gotten it as fully charged as he could, but then I loaned him this charger and a week later got a phone message from him indicating surprise at how much his battery had improved. He was convinced! It's very possible to double a battery's life with this charger, and so it can pay for itself quickly.

The problems with this charger are the complexity and the poor documentation. I think you can see the all the lights and buttons on the front of it somewhat bewildering to most. So you have to spend a lot of time reading the manual at first, and, I think, it could take a lot less time if they could find a competent technical writer. They KNOW their manual has problems because they added a supplement that says to ignore all the instructions in the manual and just read that one page supplement! The trouble is, even that supplement is a bit hard to understand. One example is how batteries are to treated as large, medium, or small, but they really don't tell you how to classify them. I had assumed a battery for a compact car would be considered medium, but a phone call to their support guy informed me that it was actually large. The manual just assumes that we can read their minds on things like this, but we can't, so we get confused and use the charger improperly.

I liked this so much I bought a second one. It brought a lawn tractor battery back to life from the dead, and it worked all Summer long, so it's half paid for already on that battery. I also used it on 3 AGM trolling motor batteries It has brought them back to usefulness from being in a weak state, not to new condition but 2 are over 12.7 volts after sitting 24 hours, one I am still letting desulfanate, it's back to 11.8 volts after being at 6 volts. These batteries are 8 years old and now cost over $300 each so it's more than paid for itself restoring 2, and it brings the other one back after a sitting all Winter on it I will be very very impressed. From what I can tell so far, it seems to work best defulfantating wet cell batteries but it helps AGMs as well. The new charger I just received is going on a yellow top optima for the Winter to see if it will bring it back. Starting off it was at 10 volts after fully charging and letting sit for 24 hours so it's definitely toast before letting this charger try to do it's magic on it.

Yes, I have a lot of batteries, there are 5 sitting on my work bench now on top of the one in the lawn tractor and 4 installed in vehicles. Keeping all these up to snuff is worth the effort vs replacing them. I would highly recommend this charger.

Just as a point of information, for those charging Optima batteries, Optima recommends using the wet setting, not AGM or Gel for their batteries.

I use this unit EVERYDAY and have found it to be very reliable. I have owned this unit for more that 3 years. My uses are: AGM batteries in my Electric car to auto/truck lead acid batteries. Tried it on sealed lead acid gel batts. and did not see(not sure if meant for this)any improvement. The only con I have is the durability of the "button select" label cover. It had to be covered with clear moving tape because of exposure. I wonder if can get a new label? Other than label issue this is a great product! I highly recommend it. One of the things I wish Battery Minder would do is, make an onboard multibank desulfator for my electric car. 6 banks is what I need. I really can't see buying six separate desulfators when I could have one unit with six integrated.

Happy De-sulfating!

Daniel

Years ago a solid state battery charger would be ignored by most as unreliable and/or cheap. Times changed and now many solid state items represent those of the best quality. I've found this product line to be one of those lacking nothing and of the best quality. The five year warranty that comes with it helps re-enforce that idea.

Yes, this product is made in China to the American (USA) VDC company technological standards. I wish everything could be made here in the US as I am USA born. That's no longer the case with many of the product names I grew up with at least VDC is still an American company based in Huntington, New York.

There-in is also something I found especially refreshing. When I opened the packaging, I wasn't greeted with instructions in some other language but in my own native English taught to every US citizen and recognized as the true one language of our country by most Americans. Seeing instructions in every language always tells me some portion of what I spent on a product went into all those other translations especially irksome when, to start with, the language is SUPPOSED to be English for every product sold in the USA. Of note, I don't know what the instructions were for this product in 2008 but VDC must have corrected any problems with them. I had no problem with the included instruction manual but I do speak fluent English like even my Russian grandfather and grandmother did when they came to America to become citizens of the US in 1912. Funny, understanding English used to be a requirement to become a citizen of this country somewhere along with being of sound mind and body, and capable of supporting one's self with some skill brought with them. Yes the small instruction manual is clear there's just 35 pages VDC would like you to look over first to improve your knowledge of this product. That's nothing excessive or unreasonable. I actually like to know the proper use of products just like I enjoy knowing the proper way to operate a vehicle I'm driving down the road. I find it safer that way, and my cars all last longer for my knowing how to drive and maintain them and I'm also sure other passengers, drivers, and pedestrians appreciate my responsibility.

I could have easily used the 12248 without the manual by just using a little common sense and knowing how batteries are sized and what type they are, but the manual does contain everything you need to know concerning the operation of the 12248. There are also printed instructions on the unit. Nothing difficult in use, and even if it was VDC provides a technical service number right on the manual. That number is also on the unit. They even answer it quickly I know, I called them to start the warranty on my purchase and to inquire about the free battery tester they will send you for registering your product.

Enough with the literature and literacy. The VDC BatteryMINDer 12248 will charge/maintain up to six batteries at a time with full-time desulfation. This is why I wanted it. It also has low amperage draw in use, and provides temperature compensation also important in my hot Southern US climate. An earlier purchase of a BatteryMINDer 12151 (engine compartment mounted style) proved to me the patented BatteryMINDer desulfation technology works and works very well (see my 12151 review here at Amazon "BatteryMinder 1.5A or BatteryMinder 1.3A? (chuckle) Like the "Tortoise and the Hare" When Compared To Some Chargers.").

The 12248 still isn't the fastest charger with only a top output of 8 Amperes, but it's not the tortoise the 12151 is either when recharging a dead battery. Is desulfation faster using the 12248 instead of the 12151? Possibly, but not necessarily. The 12151 just can't charge and desulfate more than one battery at a time, and it only charges with a reported maximum of 1.5 Amperes although I have seen a 12151 charge at 1.8A for short initial start-up periods. The 12151 is also designed to be permanently installed to a vehicle, whereas the 12248 is a "bench" charger that can either be hung from a bench or used sitting on a bench it also sits on four rubber pads for this.

This model 12248 comes with the $20 temperature compensator with ring terminal option supplied, and a ring terminal battery connector with 15 Amp fuse for a permanent charging connection to a vehicle mounted battery. All terminal connectors and fuses are also supplied with well fitted caps to prevent corrosion from moisture and to and keep out dirt. It also has the standard spring clip connector with 15 Amp fuse. Nice wire lengths have also been supplied to all cables that make connections simple in most any proper use of the unit.

The only caveat I've noticed is the temperature sender cable pins can be connected wrong if not paying close attention. If you look closely, you can see a minus and positive sign at each connection terminal that should be observed when making the electrical temperature cable connections. A red marking for positive would make this connection much easier, or pins that only fit one way.

I plan to update this review as more use is applied to the 12248 with various batteries. (chuckle) Nothing quite like an on-going accounting of product performance.

My first (far reaching) trial:

settings: 8 Amp, Standard lead-acid, temperature sensor clamped to the negative battery post

A thirteen year old, 75DG size group, Grand L 3010 HST Kubota diesel tractor standard lead acid battery that somehow still hangs on despite it would no longer start the tractor it came with. After about nine years of good service, up until it wouldn't start my Grand L, this battery was replaced with a new one and forgotten in a corner of my garage. This battery had a swollen case and plates, and had been sitting idle and untouched for roughly five years in that corner. One month back, I had put a quick charge on this battery and had it reading 12.6 volts when I immediately started using it for some very light electrical duty. Over the next several weeks I continued using it a few times to power a car radio system I was working on in my garage. It was still showing 11.4 volts when I connected the BatteryMINDer 12248 and made the proper settings. The 12248 accepted it and began charging it. After 30 minutes, I used an Amprobe digital meter to check the voltage and amperes being put out by the 12248 at the battery they were; volts@14.01-14.02, amperes@.10-.12 with a solid green charge indicator.

July 28 (eight days after connection) voltage while connected was at 13.22 volts, the same as when checked after the initial 24 hours of connection. Since day two, the voltage has remained the same and the charge indicator has been flashing. Amperes are at .16 and are the same as they were when checked on day two. Visual inspection of the plates shows the normal coloration of light and dark plates returning. The case end swelling is also diminishing. Of course, I don't expect this 13 year old battery to ever be capable of supplying the heavier amperage loads it once could without self-destruction, but it will be interesting to see what it can withstand. For my purposes, this battery will only be used in my garage for temporary power on a work bench with light loads it may even be usefull for some boost starts on equipment with weak but still marginally functioning batteries. For these purposes it should be fine, as it continues to charge and desulfate well on the 12248. A stardard charger would have simply burned and cracked all the plates, and boiled the battery acid solution away long before now leaving the battery useless with dead, shorted, and open cells. As it is, the 12248 is rebuilding a lot of capacity to this old battery.

August 5 On August 2nd I had checked this battery with the 12248 connected using my Amprobe digital meter. I noticed the voltage was varying slightly between 13.20 and 13.24. A check of the supplied amperage showed rapid changes occuring varying from .08 to .94 amperes. This peculiar amperage behavior in maintain mode is different from the 12151 BatteryMINDers I have installed to two of my vehicles. I removed the charger and checked the battery after a twelve hour "rest". The battery showed 12.70 volts. I reconnected the charger and saw the voltage initially increase to 14.5, and then begin dropping. Amps were initially steady at .10. After two hours, I checked and found the charger back in maintain mode and again at 13.20-13.24 volts and amperage varying from .08 to .94. I checked again today and saw everything the same except the case swelling now appears almost gone. During the time the charger is off this older battery, I've been putting it on a year old 78DLG Duralast Gold 800 CCA battery from Auto Zone. This battery now shows 12.88 volts after a twenty-four hour rest after each time it has been connected to the 12248. Once I'm better satisfied with the charge condition of the old Kubota battery, I plan to connect it and the Duralast battery in parallel and make use of some of the multiple battery charging capability of this 12248. Even if these two batteries do have a large difference in age, they still match in type and are close in size group.

August 23 On August 12th I finally felt secure in how stable the condition of the old battery was and connected the much newer Duralast in parallel. There had been no changes in the BatteryMINDer output on the older battery alone, the plates in the battery were looking good, and there was no longer any case swelling. Afterwards, I fairly well forgot about the two batteries connected in parallel to the BatteryMINDER 12248 until today. Again, I had checked the BatteryMINDer output when I first connected the batteries. The voltage was staying about 13.23 and amperes were steady at .10 when first checked. Today, the voltage was varying slightly between 13.21-13.23 and amperes were varying up and down between .12-.15. A look inside, to see those 13 year old Kubota battery plates, revealed plates that now look almost new in coloration and conformation. Could it be the BatteryMINDer 12248 is restoring this formerly dead and unused 13 year old battery, that lay useless for almost five years, to an almost new condition? From just looking into the cells at those plates, it appears so after a month on the BattryMINDer 12248. After a few more weeks on this BatteryMINDer, I'm going to load test this old battery out of pure curiosity. I have the thought that it would start my Kubota diesel tractor, it came new with, right now with no problems.

Update 10/24/11:

I finally got around to load testing the 13 year old Kubota battery. IT PASSED! I also used it to start my Grand L Kubota, and it started the tractor just like a brand new battery. This is an amazing recovery that makes me wonder how many "bad" batteries I could have saved and continued to use through the years, if I had only had this BatteryMINDer 12248. It's great to find a tool, and a company, that truly saves you money.

This is my first experience with the use of desulfation. I am / will be collecting data on multiple batteries to help validate the use of this charger. This review will be edited to reflect that information as I have time.

10/25/11 The Short Version: Two batteries on the recycle/core pile have been returned to "usable" status within 1 month. My ROI was less than 1 month.

Power Bright VC1500W Voltage Transformer 1500 Watt Step Up/Down 110 Volt - 220 Volt

Power Bright VC1500W Voltage Transformer 1500 Watt Step Up/Down 110 Volt - 220 VoltMy wife moved from Saudi Arabia to New York and she brought a lot of electrical stuff with her like some Rowenta iron, Braun blender, juicer, mixer sets and few other items that she spent a lot of money on. We needed a voltage converter to be able to use these items in New York and after some research I found this item and it works for us. Only drawback is that its heavy and not as portable as we would like it to be. Overall, we are happy with it.

Heavy that's the reason I bought it! For 1500W transformer, it is suppose to b heavy, otherwise it's made by cheap stuff and easy to broke and not good for what ever you plug in.

I plug in a 1200W Soy milk maker, no noise is from the transformer. Not much heat come out from it either. Great product.

It does the job quietly, right as it should. Very simple to set up, and now I can use any foreign device I want with it.

Just got this big boy for my wife's Braun 1000watt hair dryer that is only sold in Europe. The transformer works perfectly and can handle the hair dryer without hesitation. I have to agree with another reviewer about the buzzing sound that is emitted from the transformer, but this is not much of an issue since the hair dryer is much louder :) Also please note that this is a large and heavy transformer and not the most aesthetically pleasing to have lying around the house.

I have a series of Power Bright transformers, and they work wonderfully. I have lived in a number of countries that ran on 220 or 240V electricity. These transformers work well because I can adjust the input or output as needed, and they come with adaptors. Furthermore, the transformers don't get too hot, even when used continuously. I will continue to use Power Bright transformers as long as I live overseas.

Samsung ECS-K1F8BEGSTA Verizon Galaxy Nexus Car Mount Kit - Retail Packaging - Black

Samsung ECS-K1F8BEGSTA Verizon Galaxy Nexus Car Mount Kit - Retail Packaging - BlackThis is the US model (ECS-K1F8BEGSTA) and does not have 3 pins, nor does it have connectors on the base so you can leave your dock plugged into the audio and power ports.

Do not buy this model unless it's updated in place with the correct version. (Search Amazon for a similar model, ECS-K1F2BEGSTD, which is advertised as for the Nexus S, and has similar complaints but those seem to have been resolved. I'm not sure if ECS-K1F2BEGSTD works for Galaxy Nexus but if so, that would be the one to buy.)

Just search for "ECS-K1F8BEGSTA" online and you'll see many people complaining about it. http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus-accessories/140970-vzws-car-dock-has-no-3-pin-connection-4.html

It is NOT a real navigation mode car dock -in other words, there are not three metal pins on the inside of the plastic holder, which would initiate "car mode" -so this will not work as described. It does NOT put your Galaxy Nexus into navigation / car mode upon plugging it in.

What's worse, the connectors for audio and power have to be plugged directly in to the phone and CANNOT be left plugged into the base of the dock, which thereby makes it NOT A DOCK, either. (A "dock" is something you plug your device into without having to plug in the cables and connectors as well. This is a holder, not a dock.)

I got this dock from Verizon when I bought my Galaxy Nexus on release day. What a piece of garbage. Does not have the 3 pin connector. Tell me, why would I buy this overpriced hunk of junk when I could get a generic mount for a lower price that actually leaves space for you to plug into it?

Avoid at all costs.

I came from the Droid X and an easy dock to use and had power in the dock. This dock is hard to use, I have to force the phone in and even harder to remove from the dock, sometimes dropping the phone in the car. Then the external power cable has to be connected to the phone in the dock. The Galaxy Nexus has three pins to charge the phone but this dock does not have this capability, the European version does. I have the VW Jetta that has a long reach to the windshield, so it is a long reach to work with the phone. It also is not very adjustable to angle the phone to remove light glare on the phone screen. Overall this is a cumbersome, hard to use dock with out power. I mount it to a bean bag I have for the Garmin.

Want Samsung ECS-K1F8BEGSTA Verizon Galaxy Nexus Car Mount Kit - Retail Packaging - Black Discount?

This is the worst design for a car mount that I could possibly ever imagine. It is semi-hard rubber product, and it is EXTREMELY difficult to get the phone in and out of it -it puts a Death Grip on the phone, 360 degrees around all edges. Is that REALLY NECESSARY?!?!?! REALLY!?!?!?! My Nexus is not a hardened criminal convict that will do anything to escape the clutches of a car mount! It's just a phone! I shouldn't need both hands and a whole squad of Chuck Norrises to extract my phone from its car mount!

Also, rather than just have cut-outs for the volume and power buttons, they made a rubber "skin" to cover the buttons. It works OK but WHY!?!?!?! Also, the cut-outs for the micro-usb power and 3.5mm jacks are WAY TOO SMALL and do not allow most cables to be used. The power adapter that comes with it has a tiny little narrow plug, so that's OK, but TOUGH LUCK if you want to use any other normal micro-usb charger.

Samsung, you should be ashamed of yourself. This thing is a piece of garbage.

After major surgery with a Dremel tool to extract 80% of the unnecessary death-grip edging, I finally have a butchered product that I only need one hand to insert or extract my phone. Hooray indeed.

Anybody have any recommendations for a decent mount for a Verizon Galaxy Nexus?

First off let me say that I wished makita would have come out w this gun sooner. It would have saved me $200 from buying my snap-on gun. I've used makita electric gun before and loved it. Never would have traded it in for a snap on gun if makita would have designed a better way to attach the battery on my 14.4v gun. But I digress, so far this gun is waaaaay lighter, more compact and stronger than my snap on gun. What more could u ask for? I know there are some reviewer that says its not as strong as the air gun but hey who's planning on taking crank pulley bolts off? Use the right tool for the job and get it done more efficiently. Look at the tool box of professional mechanics these days and u will see an electric gun in there somewhere. I now use this gun 90% of the time while I'm at work turning wrenches. Why deal w the hassle of dragging air hoses around?

I use this at the track to change wheels on my car. The wheel nuts are torqued to 80 lb/ft. The tool breaks them loose fine after about 2 seconds. Quality of the makita tools are really nice, better than the Dewalt tools I also own. Love the LED. I don't like the size of the makita charging station and mine is already making an awful sound while charging (the fan I believe.

Excellent product, I use this instead of an air impact when working on my motorcycles. Saves the noise of the compressor as well as the electricity. Very rarely do I have to bring out the 1/2 drive impact.

I've got a couple of these maintainers. They are a great way to keep batteries charged up for months at a time. I got one at Northern Tool (chinese knockoff brand) that seemed to work ok until it died. I like this one better since its got a bit more power than a battery tender jr and it seems to work just as well. I've got a couple now. This ones going on a emergency jump box I use when my truck won't start.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. Since I'm retired and don't drive as much, my car battery dying was a common occurence. My battery was checked out by my dealer and was told it only needed to be charged. I researched several battery chargers and settled on the Charge Master due to my brother who has three of them for three cars and has been very happy with them for years. So far for me it's been an excellent product.

I purchased this as a replacement for a similar product that I bought on home shopping of all places 5 years ago. It had worked flawlessly for 5 years sitting in an unheated garage and charging it only after an occasional use. But the air pump broke so I needed a new one and I couldn't find the old brand any more. I purchased this jump starter with inflator and have had it for about 7 months now.

Pros:

It is a heavy duty unit

It has a lot of features on it.

It is easy to throw in the trunk on trips

It has a test system to tell you how charged the unit is.

Cons.

I left my car for vacation and returned to find a totally dead battery. I hooked up the starter and the car came to life but it didn't have quite enough power to start the car. I ended up buying a charger and recharging the battery for 24 hours. The car has worked fine since.

My wife picked up a nail in one of the tires producing a slow leak taking about 4 days to go flat. I used the pump on the car tire every other day for 3 weeks, that's another repair story, and it worked fine but.

The guage was small and inacurate.

The air hose was too short and in some cases I had to find something to put the starter on to be able to reach the tire valve.

The air hose wraps around the inside behind the jumper clamps so they must be removed first to remove the hose.

They recommend charging the battery every 4 months. The other product held the charge over a year.

They also say that constant charging can ruin the battery so you have to charge it for a day and a half and then unplug it. The

older one was plugged in for months without a problem.

Are these things serious? No just annoying. It will do the job but next time I will do a little more looking.

I find this product extremely convenient and portable for the person who's always on the go. It doesn't actually give your phone a full charge of 100% but it will do about 50% if you were in a jam which is perfect. For the price and portability, I highly recommend the traveler to have one of these devices.
