Goal Zero 11004 Sherpa 50 Silver Portable Recharger
- Charge in 2-3 hours from wall, or 4-6 hours from car, or 5-10 hours from solar (Goal Zero's Nomad 13 solar panel sold separately)
- Sample run times: laptops 1-3 hours, tablets 15 plus hours
- Bolt-on inverter converts Sherpa 50 into a wall plug (sold separately)
- Compact and lightweight - less than 1.5 pounds
- Includes Sherpa 50 and AC wall charger
The Goal Zero system uses their own connectors which work nicely between their batteries, chargers, and solar panels. Since I already own the Sunlinq 12w and 25w panels, I needed to splice my own connectors to make these work together. I bought the Goal Zero 6' 8mm input cable extension and spliced a connector for the Sunlinq. I was able to charge the Sherpa 50 in about 4 hours from 60% to a full charge while the Sunlink 25w panel was in full sun. It would be easier (and maybe quicker) to use the Goal Zero panels, but I already own the Sunlinq.
Overall I am very pleased with the Sherpa 50; this is a well made high quality unit. My only criticism, is that the 8mm extension cord did not fit the Sherpa. I contacted customer service and they responded the next day, acknowledging the problem and recommending a fix (shave 1/8" off of the plastic connector barrel), which worked perfectly.

This comes with the window/visor mount. I use on visor since my window is a distance from me. When not using, I simply place on dash on a non-slip pad and it recharges in the sun...My friend who's daughter bought an LG model from AT&T for $78 says I sound MUCH better than she does on hers (she mounts to window). I also like the lcd display that I haven't seen on any other models. The volume on this is more than sufficient when all windows are up, down and I'm sure it would'nt sound well to both parties. One other thing, my wife was talking to my friend from passenger seat while we were driving and he could her her just as well and she was speaking in normal voice.
The build to this is very cheap (made in China-what a surprise). I read the others reviews and I'm sure there are some bad ones out there giving its cheap feel, but mine is working like a champ!!! I would NOT pay anywhere near the $99 reg price.

This speakerphone has the potential for being a very neat little unit, but it fails in its ultimate purpose: being a CAR speakerphone. While it may have good sound quality to the person you are calling if there is no background noise (in other words, if you're NOT DRIVING IN A CAR), once you introduce the whoosh of a moving car, you are rendered incomprehensible to the person listening to you._________
PROS:
Solar powered how incredibly awesome it is to not need to plug it in! No wires hanging from visors or windshields.
On/Off switch unlike bluetooth headsets where it is questionable whether it is on or off, this has a slider switch on the side where you can quickly and easily turn it on/off without holding buttons, etc...
Windshield or visor mount lets you choose where you want it.
Text display most bluetooth devices don't show you who is calling or what the status of the device is. This one displays it right in front of you!
_________
CONS:
Made in China apparently Nextar is a Chinese company. Kinda shows in the quality and feel.
Text display very hard to read if you're wearing polarized sunglasses. The kind you would wear WHILE DRIVING. Also, it only flashes information on the screen rather than keeping it there (to conserve power?), so it's easy to miss what it says.
Speaker at max volume (the kind you need on the highway) makes the holster vibrate (buzz) when the other person is speaking. The package comes with a scrap of sticky foam rubber that I think you are supposed to wedge into the holster somehow to dampen the vibrations.
Status LED the phone button is lighted from behind when the unit is on. Red for charging, blue for active. But it is VERY dim, so basically not viewable during the daytime.
Microphone With highway noise, although you may be able to hear the person you're calling, they can barely understand you. My wife said "You sound like you're in a tunnel and I can barely understand you", even if I tried to talk loudly.
------------
So, sadly, I had to return this because my main use is on the highway during my commute.

For such a small device, this thing is amazing. I had another solar charger mounted on the top right of my windscreen in my vehicle and it broke (because it got to hot... go figure). I found this one on another site (not amazon) and was able to grab 2, one for each of my vehicles.Display This is the most inexpensive display bluetooth speaker (solar or not) that I have found. The display tells you when there is a call coming in, and will let you know when the call was disconnected. It also displays a little battery when it is charging via solar or the USB charger.
Speaker/Range Even with my low-end phone, the speaker works great. I do not have to take my phone out of my pocket for it to connect, but if I want to have a conversation, the phone has to come out. Once out, people can only tell I am on a cell phone, and not on a speaker or a bluetooth device. I can hear people even at high speeds with the windows cracked, very powerful speaker.
(The people complaining about the quality should check their phones against other bluetooth speakers before blaming this device for their call quality)
Usability Unlike most bluetooth devices, this one has a toggle switch that will let you turn the device on and off quickly and easily. The center button is used to make calls, disconnect calls and ant to ignore incoming calls (if pushed twice). On the side there are 2 volume buttons, up and down. The display tells you how loud or quiet the volume is (similar to that of a phone).
Initial Setup/Pairing This took maybe 30-45 seconds. Holding the main oval button on the device, I told my phone to look for devices. It found it, and paired it without any code or password. The display even gave a confirmation that it had paired with my device, and displayed both the name of my device and the model (i.e. BOBS-MOBILE LG VX10000)
Battery Life Its solar... as long as you are not in the North Pole in the Winter, you will be fine. Even so, they do supply a universal USB car charger (that will work with ANY USB cable...yes even iPod/Pad/Phone so you can charge it on the go. I haven't had any problems with battery life or talk time.
All in all this is an excellent product... and at around $20 dollars, I don't see why anyone would not buy this over those silly bugs that hang off the ear.

I have been using this device for 2 months now and it works great. The display is really handy for knowing whose calling and remaining battery life. For those having problems hearing from this device, try turning up the volume on the cell phone and the NXBT-002. If the volume is low on your cell phone so will the volume on the NXBT-002. Trust me when I say, this is a very good device and for $20 you just can't go wrong. This unit is great for hearing aid wearing people. The only bad part is that the solar does not keep up with my usage (over 5 hours a day) but with the plug in adapter it just keeps on going. Great price , I have purchased devises which cost over $ 80.00 which do not work as good as this unit.3.5mm AUX Digital FM Transmitter with Card Reader for iPod Touch , Zune HD , Sony S / W Series Walkm

I was looking for an inexpensive device to play my iPhone4 through on my car radio. I had one that worked with my iPod Touch but it didn't charge my phone, thus I end up buying a car charger for my phone, which is where my dilemma came in. I didn't want to buy something that needed the charge base of my phone, and there weren't many options within my budget. Then I came across this....granted there were no reviews so I was skeptic. However, so far I'm pleasantly surprised.
I don't know what all needs to be said. It's not perfectly clear, but does play well through my car speakers. Of course I leave my phone sitting in a cup holder between seats or directly below my radio so I don't really move it too much. I have moved it once while driving and it did get a little static, but I mean you don't need to be on your phone while driving so that's not really a problem. I do love how it can use all the 80 channels; on my other one I could only use 2 of those and then I had to fight stations for sound. Another bonus is that while the transmitter comes with a charger, it works without being connected so I can hide the cord until it dies.
So for the price, I'm happy. It works for me... (^_^)

they work so im happy with them , they were a great deal just to have some extras in the truck or houseI have an LG Optimus T phone and these chargers work faster than the one that came with my phone. 10 minutes of charging in the car gives me 10% battery. I'm SHOCKED! The quality is good and I expect these to last a while. The car charger is a little bit more flimsy so I'd be a little bit more careful with it. I had purchased another car charger from China that worked well enough but I was too rough when unplugging it and eventually the wires broke! I imagine this one will be similar so a gentle hand when unplugging will make it last much longer. Still, for $5 you can't really beat these!Want eForCity Battery Wall AC +Car Charger Phone Compatible with Samsung© Galaxy S Discount?

I purchased the Peak Portable Power System 300 PKC0ASprimarily for its air compressor.
After airing up one 17 inch tire, the battery was almost dead.
And it took a full five minutes to accomplish the task.
Also, the instructions state to recharge it every four months when not used.
Mine was discharged almost completely after two months.
So, I recommend against this model unless you only need to air up low capacity tires (e.g., bicycles, lawn mowers, etc.).
While I haven't used it for jump starting, confidence is low.

I bought this unit because, it was small, solar powered and bluetooth. The unit is small,I have it on the upper left of my windshield, easy to use, works very well. I like the fact that I can audio text with my phone.
Two things could be better, the speaker, and the transmission quality. Otherwise, this is a great product at a great price.iKross Solar Powered Windshield Mount Wireless Bluetooth Speakerphone Handsfree Car Kit

I put my order in and it arrived the day it was promised. I love this thing. It is portable and has good sound. Not Great .. Not Horrible .. Nothing to write home about!I bought this cause it was cheap .. and guess what? its kinda cheap! LoL
Volume is fair .. could be WAY louder for me.
Mic is fair .. most people say it sounds like a speaker phone
( Probably because it is LoL )
But they say they can hear me OK Some back ground noise ect.
Like the other reviewer the volume controls are on the left side
which make it impossible to adjust the volume if you have it on
the edge of your windshield like Both of us do.
Good: Its Solar Powered Very Cool! So No charging .. no cords!
Bad: Freaking thing turns off after 15 minutes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say it has a standby of 1000 hours!
Well How can you tell??? If it turns OFF after 15 minutes!!!!!
( Wouldn't that be a standby time of infinity LoL )
Gave it 1 star because of it turning off after 15 minutes!
Also Because it makes it very inconvenient to use!
because you have to turn it back on every time you need it!
Other wise I guess its a 3 star because it does work.I'm editing my original review. Everything I wrote before is still true, however I almost never use this anymore. The main reason is the range it's too large. It say it has a 10 meter range, and it does but that's 30 feet. No cars are that big, but it's a large enough range to cover pretty much anywhere in my house or office when I'm parked.
I'll forget to turn this off before I leave the car, and the next time I try to make or answer a call in my house or at work, it sends the audio to the speaker. The only solution I've found that doesn't involve me going back out to my car is to turn off the bluetooth on my phone, which is a little too annoying, since I then have to remember to turn both the speaker and my phone bluetooth on the next day before I can use it.
A one meter range would have been sufficient, and done a lot to help with the usability. As it is, I can't in good conscience recommend this anymore, and I'm going to look for another solution myself.
******
The mount works well, the speaker is loud, and it's nice to be able to set it up there and forget about it.
However, the audio isn't that great. Usually it's clear, but sometimes it's hard to make out what the person you're talking to is saying. Also, the buttons to control the volume are on the left of the device, which make it impossible to adjust the volume if you have it on the edge of your windshield like I do. The instructions suggest mounting it in the middle of the windshield right in front of the driver (seriously, there's a photo and everything) but that's crazy.
It works well for what I wanted it for broadcasting my phone so I can hear Waze.
TomTom Rider 2 GPS Navigator for Motorcycles and Scooters
- Tomtom Rider Is One Of The Smartest Navigation Solutions For Motorcycles.
- Rugged Waterproof Device
- Anti-Glare Screen
- Integrated Sun Visor, And Gloves-On Operation
- Navigation Instructions Are Spoken Via In-Helmet Cardo Scala-Rider
This is an excellent unit, to say the least. One reviewer mentioned that it's too difficult to turn the unit onI say "hogwash". The pushbutton is stiff, yes, but that's done to keep the unit from turning on accidentally while in your jacket pocket or carry bag (and with a touch screen, you can well imagine how much mischief one could accidentally create if it turned on without your knowledge). Ditto with the Scala Rider headsetyou don't want the thing accidentally turning on, running the battery down, do you?
Another reviewer mentioned that it doesn't have a "speedometer" or trip meter functionit most certainly does have a speedometer, and what I assume is the "trip meter"but since TomTom set the unit from the factory to eliminate as much extraneous information as possible, you have to activate it in the menus. Once that has been activated, it'll be there until you turn that feature off. In fact, there are a great number of features you can turn on and off in the menus.
I found the documentation to be adequate, and to the point. The printed documentation is to get you up to speed until you charge the units and turn them onit's easy sailing after that. The unit is very easy to use, and it has tutorials right on the unit, so in my opinion further paper documentation is rather redundantactually, I think it's pretty smart on TomTom's part to include tutorials on the unit itself rather than supply a printed bookthat way I don't have to carry around the book, as all of the information is already on the unit! They really don't say much about the bike power cable, but I can certainly understand whyit's not possible to provide information about every bike out there, and if you aren't familiar enough with your bike, or can't figure out how to install it, it's probably best to get someone who is (like your bike dealer) to do the installation.
I've got a Motorolla Razr phone, and the TomTom easily hooked up to my phone via Bluetooth, and it painlessly downloaded all of my phone numbers I have stored on the phone (thank you for providing this helpful feature!).
I do wish that it gave the street name when it gives you instructions to turn, but I soon got used to how it worksnot only does the display give you very clear instructions on where to turn, it also gives you the street name. Once you get used to it, it's easy. But I would like the option of hearing the street name (my PDA does, but the map display isn't as easy to see as the TomTom). While playing with the unit as my father-in-law drove the car, I discovered one potential issue with having the street name spoken to youwhat happens when the street name is changed, but your maps haven't been updated? If you rely on the spoken street name, you might miss itit's best to take a glance at the screen to make sure you're taking the correct turn (I found one such roadthe name has recently been changed, but the map showed the old name instead). Still, I'd prefer to have it spoken, and visually double-check the map.
Overall, I give the TomTom an A-. TomTom, if you're reading this, I'll give you an A+ if you guys update the software so that it'll give you the street name by voicethen you'll have the best bike GPS available! However, I'd still buy the unit as is. It would just increase the functionality by including this feature.

My wife gave me this unit for Christmas. She's a doll and I love her very much, but she was not very versed about what to shop for or expect from a GPS unit. I've now used the unit several hours during trips, utilizing the blue tooth connectivity with my cell phone and the included headset within my helmet. Ive also used it in the car a lot. They said this unit was designed by motorcyclists, but obviously the bikers TomTom consulted knew very little about the minimum expectations for features required in a decent GPS unit...especially one costing this much.I am going to break-down my review into two parts....what it has that is good...and what it lacks that makes it a non-competitive GPS unit in the US. I've used GPS technology at work and at play for years. Most of my background with consumer-grade GPS units is with the Garmin brand. So it is to that brand that I will make most of my comparisons because Garmin, for the most part, has it right and does it right! (imho)I have no financial or personal relationship with Garmin, whatsoever.
OK..first for the positive...it's water resistant/proof (don't really know about the proof part cause I havent had it in the pouring rain yet)...Fast processor and fast acquisition of the GPS constellation...good screen graphics and brightness...decent battery life...sensitive touch screen technology....blue tooth capable...can download your Outlook contact database....decent internal memory...heavy duty Ram mounting hardware for your bikes handle bars....USB connectivity to your computer for map downloads, etc....and if you are into directions from the unit, it has a few male and female voices from which to choose.
Now for the features it should have but does not:
-Should have a trip computer with trip parameters such as max speed, average moving speed, time moving, time sitting still, odometer, trip odometer, vertical and horizontal elevation, etc. None of this exists on the tomtom rider.
-Should leave a track, or a bread crumb trail, as you ride along. Not available on the TTRider. This is a real disappointment.
-Should have larger fonts for speed, arrival time, etc. Way too small to have to deal with on a motorcycle...even when set to the largest font.
-Should not "snap" to the nearest road to fool you into thinking their base map is accurate...because it is not that accurate in reality.
-Should come with a cig lighter plug for powering, but it does not.
-Does not allow any preference setting while in motion. You must stop before you can do anything with this unit outside of a few limited functions. Excuse: a safety feature
-Cannot make a call while moving. You can only recieve calls while moving. What's that about???? (yea I know, safety)
Has annoying icons on the screen when the phone and headset are not connected and there is no way to get them off the screen!!
-Gives you no options as far as screen orientation relating to your travel direction...always points you up. Thats ok most of the time, but we deserve to have a choice in this price class.
-Can fall off the ball mount and, if not tethered to the bike or mounting base, it will hit the ground and will be lost.
No elevation available...for those of us that ride in mountains and are use to seeing this on gps units, it's certainly an oversight by the TTRider. GPS derived elevation is not that accurate in the first place, but readings are relative and give a pretty good indication of elevation changes as you ride.
Direct sunlight makes the screen totally INVISIBLE.
If I could send it back to Amazon I would. I plan to give it to by wife for her car and purchase a gps unit that more closely fits my needs as a touring motorcyclist and as a consumer that refuses to settle for inadequate and poorly designed products.

1. I have owned a Rider for more than 18 months.2. The first one I had, the dock broke in Texas while I was riding Route 66.
3. I called TomTom from Texas (I live in Calif) and asked them to FedEx a new one.
They said no can do.
4. Once home, TomTom sent me a new Dock, but... it took them 1 month to get it to me.
5. After a while I started to notice that the Rider was not charging while in the dock and on my bike.
6. They asked me to send them my Rider back with all the accessories.
7. Then after 4 weeks, they sent me a new Rider, with no charger and no accessories.
8. The asked me to send it back.
8. After another 4 weeks, they sent me another.... new Rider... with all the accessories.
9. The dock didn't charge.
10. After another week, they sent me a new dock. It works.
There are known issues with the docks and charging, but TomTom won't admit it.
It's manufacturering issue. I'll let you guess where they are made.
The Tom Tom rider is good, easy to use. But if anything goes wrong, you'll be waiting many weeks for a replacement.
Ad of course the wait time on the phone, plan on an hour with each call.
I probably would NOT buy another one.

I bought this product from Amazon and received it 4-days ago. In the last 4-days, I have been in contact with TomTom by phone and email trying not only to get detailed information about the product, but also trying to get help with it. This is by far the worst motorcycle GPS on the market. The Pro's: (there is only one)
1) They have upgraded the headset to the Cardo Scala Q2.
The Con's:
1) The screen is unreadable outside either in the sunlight or on overcast days. It looks completely white washed. There are no settings to resolve this on the unit.
2) The documentation included is for the original Rider, not the Rider 2nd Edition.
3) The screen is unreadable outside
4) There is no documentation available from TomTom or from RAM-Mount for the motorcycle mount that is included.
5) The screen is unreadable outside
6) TomTom's 30-day map guarantee only works if you call and harass them about it. Then you must fax or email proof of purchase before they will comply with there own guarantee.
7) The screen is unreadable outside
8) The power button is ridiculously hard to operate
9) The screen is unreadable outside
10) THE SCREEN IS UNREADABLE OUTSIDE!!!!!!!
So, in my opinion I can only believe that people who rate this highly either ride only at dusk, or during the nighttime. Either that, or they want everyone to make the same mistake they did, so they don't feel like they are the only one's that were taken for their money.
Oh, and did you get it yet?
THE SCREEN IS UNREADABLE OUTSIDE!
The whole purpose of the unit is to use it outside on a motorcycle!
I have owned a TomTom GO910 for a few years, and was actually very pleased with it except for the cost. But I will NEVER purchase another TomTom device after dealing with the company over the last 4-days.
My recommendations would be to please do your research online in advance. The TomTom Rider and the TomTom Rider 2nd Edition are pure crap, because there SCREENS ARE NOT READABLE OUTSIDE! Which itself is ridiculous as they were specifically designed for motorcycles!
Do yourself a huge favor, buy the Garmin Nuvi 550 instead! It's waterproof with an 8-hour rechargeable and replaceable lithium battery! Plus, its only half the price of the all too overpriced Zumo model! Wanna save even more money, buy the Garmin Nuvi 500. Again, waterproof with an 8-hour rechargeable and replaceable lithium battery. The only difference between it and the Nuvi 550 are the maps. The lower 48 vs. all of North America.I bought the Rider 2 GPS last summer, to tour the south of France, from Paris. I'd travelled before with maps, sometimes missing offramps out of confusion (freeway signs here are only really good if you're a local, in which case you don't need them in the first place!!). After having used a TomTom GPS in a rental car to go to Italy, I decided to get one for my Speed Triple, for the pleasure of being guided from "above". The decision was made a week before my departure, so I didn't really have time to investigate the market. I discovered only Garmin & TomTom have bike-specific models, and that both were incredibly expensive compared to car units. Being used to, and pleased with the TomTom interface, I decided to buy TT. The first Rider 2 I bought would not connect to my Motorola Razr V3i, despite the help from the sales reps, and would refuse to turn on, even fully charged. After 3 (THREE!!) trade-ins, I had to leave for my 1 1/2 month vacation with my current unit, picked up the same morning.
My first beef was to find that not only would it start trying connecting to my V3i, then fail, but I'd also have to use the cellular connection to obtain the updates, and 1 month trial of various options I'D PAID FOR!! This is totally stupid. If you're going to have to use a PC to save your SD card, let the PC handle further downloads and updates!!! It doesn't take being a racket science wiz to understand a DSL connection is more reliable than a cellular. Also, the fact you have to pay for updates, and options that should be standard, is preposterous.
My second problem, is the fact that as long as you're moving, you cannot access/change routing information. That's totally stupid too. Even at walking speeds, the unit will accept no change of route, or any other modification. When you're on the freeway, or on city streets with no place to stop, this is really aggravating. I know it's supposedly for security reasons, but changing your destination to a favorite isn't going to put you in danger in most cases, stopping and starting on a road close to heavy traffic will. In any case, you can tap all you want on a car unit, so security obviously isn't a valid reason. In any case, I hate when an appliance is set to restrain my use of it, and not let me decide for myself when/if what I do is safe.
3rd beef: sometimes, maps are obsolete from the start. When driving through Italy, I was directed to turn right on a freeway, in the middle of... fields!!! There was an offramp on my screen, miles from any actual offramps. Only corn fields, which had obviously been there for years, and weren't going to disappear in favor of a new road overnight. Really scary when you're on a schedule..
Maybe I should have listed first the On/Off button. I have very strong arms & fingers, but the time & pressure (and numerous attempts) it takes to turn it on hurts my fingers each time. Needless to even think of asking my girlfriend to do it...
The last unnicety I can think of right now, is the fact, if you're typing an address, the streets that pop up aren't entirely legible on the screen. It appears there's no way to view further past the first letters. This is really a bummer in France, where streets precede their name. Example: if you're looking for an address on Boulevard du General De Gaulle, all that appears on the screen is "Boulevard du Genera", so you have to type each and every letter in the name, or you'll get directed to another general's name, and, as there's no "back" function, you'll have to go through the whole itinerary planning procedure again to try to get it right. Total lack of user-friendliness, for a unit that's supposed to be usable by bikers, with gloves on.
On the upside, missing an exit leads the unit to recalculate another itinerary very quickly, the reason exactly I'd bought a GPS. Arrival times are incredibly accurate, even on long trips. Screen maps are legible. The RAM fixing system is great, and solid, but props there go to RAM, not TomTom. The Scala system works fine, and is reasonably audible, although the choice of a higher pitched female voice, on full volume is a must, if you're going to be riding over 100 mph.
If I'd had more time to choose, I'd have bought the Garmin Zumo instead. The price is too high for a GPS that's so poorly engineered. It does work nicely when it's all set up correctly, but not being able to take phone calls, use paid for updates, or use your PC to download data is unacceptable.

Ok, I've never tried to run something off of it, Iuse it for it's purposeto start my car if the battery doesn't.I charge it every other week, just driving around. plugged into the cig. lighter.
I was 37 weeks pregnant last winter, an hour from home, and my battery went on me in the cold. Plugged this into my cig. lighter, pushed the button, and VROOMM!
The parking attendent was so excited he went and showed it to all of his co-workers!

Received the American Red Cross Rechargeable Battery Charger as a gift and have no clue where, or when, it was purchased. Manual says to plug it in the AUXILARY POWER (not the cigarette lighter) WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING! Unit would NOT charge up on short trips around town (showed charged within two minutes). Took a long road trip plugged into the aux power left it for two hours driving (showed charged within two minutes). Unit would NOT power a Garmin GPS unit. Don't waste money on this piece of junk. COLEMAN also has nearly identical unit which has bad ratings too. Shame on American Red Cross and Coleman for violating our trust. Shame on manufacturer Cohesion Products (877-643-3303 model 2600002) for stealing our (friends) money and making us dispose of this HAZARDOUS WASTE. I really would have liked it to work for a little while even for light duty.Kensington LiquidFM Transmitter for iPod - 33411

Well I purchased this item in store special frys electronics for 9.99 reg 14.99. i have a second gen and a nano. the second gen it didnt work kept telling me the battery was dead even though fully charged. so i tried my nano and it worked. The signal is weak hard to find a station it comes in on. And it sounds terrible.Brunton 6 Watt Foldable Solar Array
I wanted a solar charger because i spend alot of time travelling to remote places and camping, where there is not always electricity or inconsistent supply.
It is used to recharge my video camera batteries (main reason), AA/AAA batteries and GPS/cell phone.
It proformed really well, and as expected.
The only grips i have is the manual isnt very good mainly because it didnt say if or how to join 2 of these together for better power output (12 V/1Amp), even the brunton website didnt have this (it did say you could join other models together though), so had to email Brunton to get the required information. It even comes with the cable required to connect 2 panels together, so is weird it doesnt say how to in manual.
And the lack of connectors or for me lack of a USB connector. However i guess at the end of the day i already had cig-lighter USB adapotor so not a biggie.
Compare to the Nomad 7:
The brunton has better output overall 0.5 Amps/6 watts, where the Goal0 nomad only has 0.5 Amps/5 watts on USB, 4 watts on 12 V cigarette-lighter connector, and 7 watts only on the Guide 10 output for recharging the Goal0 battery pack. I noticed this when recharging AA/AAA batteries, as there is an LED screen on the charger, which wouldnt display any info with the nomad, but did on the brunton. The charge time was shorter on the brunton.
The brunton is smaller and ligher probably less than a 1/3 the weight of the goal0.
However bacause the goal0 has a hard back, it laid flat on the ground, where i had to sit something on the end of the brunton to keep it flat to start with, and the nomad is better suited to attach to a backpack to charge while hiking, plus there is a pocket where you can place your cell phone/gps while charging.
At the end of the day, the brunton is better for me, because of the higher power output, and it lighter/smaller, which is ideal for travelling.I bought six of the Brunton Solar-6 panels. I was planning a long camping trip with kids and you know how they love their electronic devices. The kids and I can describe our satisfaction in a single word, WOW! We did have to purchase one small adapter but after that things were perfect. Two weeks and everything stayed charged wonderfully.

It does work......barely. I tested on my Motorola 4 G PDA for 3 hours in direct sunlight with a beginning charge on device of 30% power and charged it on several occasions...... the best result was an increase to 40% power charge. That's 10% increase folks. This is not impressive and not worth lugging its weight on my back for 2500 miles of the Continental Divide. Might be ok in some other applications. I wanted to be able to listen to audio books while walking long distances in the back country.....don't think it has the muscle to do this........great idea though....also the cable attachments are cumbersome and heavy and no direct usb port capibility......that's pretty important if you think about it. If someone figures out how to really make solar work they'll be the next Bill Gates. It will happen.....but when?!Read Best Reviews of Brunton 6 Watt Foldable Solar Array Here
My husband climbed Mt. Everest and relied on this a LOT. As there is no "power" there the climbers had to be creative. Thank you for providing him the light to allow him to reach his goal!Want Brunton 6 Watt Foldable Solar Array Discount?
This item comes with adapters that won't charge any cell phones, or anything USB related. The adapters look like headphone plugs. I've never seen anything that takes that kind of plug. This thing is worthless.
