I do a whole lot of camping and hiking where I am away from power sources for prolonged periods of time but I like to keep my cell phone and a few other electronic devices with me just in case of emergency. Because of this, I have purchased solar chargers in the past and none of them worked as well as advertised...and sometimes not at all. Even though this charger might seem more expensive, its the only one that I have purchased that ACTUALLY worked. I can even just charge the battery that comes with it and only take that with me as a reserve. Its size and weight are perfect for hiking. I have had mine for well over a year now and still have had no problems with it.Larry
