Bought this last week and gave it the full 36 hour charge. Tested it this weekend on my dad's 1988 Ford Escort. (4 Cylinder engine). To test it, I disconnected the negative cable from the Escort battery. The IP-75 started it, but barely. When I brought my dad out to see a second demonstration, it failed. Conditions were ideal; 70 degrees in the shade on the driveway. It's probably fine for motorcycles, lawn mowers or ATV's, but it's not really enough for much more. It's only 7 Amp hours. I think 12 Amp hours is the minimum for confidence.Read Best Reviews of Schumacher IP-75 Instant Power Portable Power Source Here
like many, I used my to start an engine (40hp diesel). It worked for that, but afterward I've recharged it fully and no power. It states that it is fully charged, but no 12v power. There's no fuse, or breaker, nothing to do but throw it away.Want Schumacher IP-75 Instant Power Portable Power Source Discount?
I purchased this product to help me boost my Ford Escape in cold weather conditions. The first time I used it, it worked exactly like it was supposed to and my car started easily. However, that first boost seems to have fried it permanently. The product now tells me that it has a full charge but it won't even produce any sparks when I hook up the positive clamp to my battery and the negative clamp to the metal on my engine (something that should produce a few sparks and which did the first time I boosted my car with it). If you are looking for something to boost a car in cold weather, skip this product because I have found it to be essentially a one-time-use, disposable product.I bought this charger about 5 years ago and it was great for jump starting my car. I forgot to recharged the charger but after 3 years I was able to still use it.
