P.S. Pure sine wave inverters are also 3x more expensive than modified sine wave inverters. Modified sine wave inverters can do most of the jobs pure sine wave inverters do. I didn't mention this in the video but most of the times, deep cycle and marine batteries have 2 rectangular caps, look in the video closely, you have to put distilled water or drinkable water(it's okay), and fill it up until about 1 inch below the opening of the holes. Check these water levels about once every 3 days(recommended). Just take the caps off to put the water in if needed. Also, charge controllers are heavily recommended if you use a solar panel greater than 10 to 15 watts. Mono-crystalliine and poly-crystalliine solar panels are recommended, amorphous panels are not recommended because they're not efficient as the other two types of panels and they generally last shorter than the other two. You can buy a smaller inverter, smaller controller, smaller battery, smaller panels or larger of them depending on your needs.

Yesterday we hooked up our solar panel. It works great!! We hooked it up with a 10 Amp charge controller. This panel is keeping our 5th wheel powered up great. It charges even when the sun is not directly on it which is nice. We hooked it all into our electrical system and it started charging immediately. This panel does NOT come with the connecters as shown in the pictures so be ready to crimp your wires. Also ours did come with the positive and negative wires marked. If we add another panel then we will get a 30 Amp charge controller for a better charge to our batteries. I am glad that we had a friend that used to work in the solar industry explain that to us. But for now we are just going to add another battery and we should be good. Maybe next month we will add another panel. This seems to be built well, nice and heavy construction. Not a wimpy piece of junk. Great value for the price. If I had it to do over again I would order this panel. It showed up in perfect condition. Shipping was quick and it was packed nicely with styrofoam padding all of the way around it. No problems there.

This panel works well. Even in a very overcast day, I still get good voltage and decent amperage from it.

The only downside, which is why I only gave it 3 starts, is that the factory cable did not have any connectors on it as the description mentioned. It simply had a cable with the ends slightly stripped back, and the penetrations into the J-Box can not make a good seal with the factory cable. This is not a big deal for me as I was planning on making my own wiring harness anyway.

I received this solar panel today and the first thing I noticed is that there are no MC-4 connectors included. The second thing is that unlike the images describe, the two wires are part of the same wire "assembly" and stripped from that assembly before going into the panel, removing any weather protection they might have had. Also, since the wires are so incredibly small, no seal can be created where they go into the weatherproof box on the back of the panel.

We'll find out in the next couple of weeks if this puts out anything around 50 watts and update the review as appropriate. If so, it will still be a good deal compared to some other 45 watt poly-crystalline panel kits that cost a bunch more.

Update 02/15/2012: Using my Watts-Up meter here in the winter I am 25-40 watts in the sun. I re-soldered some nice 12 AWG wire into the connector box with PowerPoles on the ends and will probably buy another one of these this summer to add.

I'm using a CirKits SCC3 solar charge controller connected to a Duracell Powerpack 600 and the solar panel is definitely doing a good job keeping it charged up.

My panel came with the MC4 connectors attached unlike previously reviewed by others. The output value of amps and voltage are within the specified range advertised. This panel keeps my 2 deep cycle RV batteries charged while using inside lights and 24-7 refrigerator. I don't use much else in my week-end retreat and I no longer have to use a generator to charge my batteries. I had a smaller 10Watt unit but it never did the job. I now only use my generator to watch TV or run the microwave or power tools as I have no inverter and this unit is really for charging and maintaining batteries and very small amp/hr applications. Mine sits flat on my roof with no permanent attachments and stays put. I have unimpeded sun exposure all day and never adjust the panel direction. The cable is only 3 ft and you will need to add cable remembering you need a MC4 attachment on the extension or cut and rewire the connections. I suggest a good, not the cheapest, 10 amp charge controller in case you wish to add more panels to this application and prevent overcharging of batteries. The unit does not have holes in the frame for the two cables and must be drilled if you use a flat surface mounting and route the cables from under the frame. Most of the issues mentioned in other older dated revues have been addressed and the cables are clearly and correctly marked with positive and negative tags.
