Using this with my 3G iPhone, since the car charger I used for my iPod Touch won't work with my new iPhone.
Note: This is the redesigned 2008 Griffin PowerJolt (SE), don't get the PowerJolt without the "SE" designation, it is reported to have an issue with overheating.
Buy Griffin PowerJolt SE Car Charger with Coiled Cable for iPod and iPhone 1G (Black) Now
I bought it from Apple Local store few days ago.I tested with my iPhone, it works great !!!
The charging is fine and the status indication very nice to have !!!
Also I checked the audio noise during the charging my iPhone, I did not get so strong noise from this device...
The test has done with my HONDA pilot 2007 model with SONY FM transmitter via. headphone connection.
And an additional comment, it is not generating heat during charing my iPhone.
A lot of website complain the old model, 2007 POWERJOLT has the heat problem !!!
Cheers !!!
T.AokiThe new iPhone has the capability of running off the 3G network which means faster data speeds but faster battery drain when talking and surfing (even if you are not on 3G since the phone is constantly searching for the signal.) Plus with the new addition of the app store, chances are you, like me, are using your iPhone for 100s of things every day. I found this purchase necessary for my iPhone 3G to make it last through the day. It works perfectly, doesn't overheat, and is only one piece (nothing extra to get lost).
I would highly recommend the Griffin PowerJolt SE over those one dollar eBay chargers. I used to work in a retail cell phone store and saw many phones that refused to power on and smelt like a burnt hair dryer because people were buying cheap car chargers. Griffin works with Apple to create its products and therefore has quality products with a MUCH less likelihood to fry your new expensive phone. There are times you get what you pay for... this is one of those times.
Want Griffin PowerJolt SE Car Charger with Coiled Cable for iPod and iPhone 1G (Black) Discount?
I bought this at the same time as my iPhone 3G, anticipating that the phone would need frequent recharging. The status lights are a nice touch and the device supports the iPhone 3G just fine. The cable could be a little longer, although the compact size does make storage in a glove compartment very easy. Before purchasing this product from Amazon last August (about four months ago), I took a quick look at the average rating (which was fairly high) and the price (which was fairly low for an iPhone charger). What I didn't notice was the cluster of 1-star reviews from people who had experienced premature product failures.I should have paid more attention to those reviews. This charger has been in my car for four months. During that time, I used it only five or six times (I charge my phone at home every night, so I rarely have to use the car charger). Today I needed the car charger, and it was dead. This is an inexcusable level of product reliability.
