I ordered this so that I could charge my GPS, phone, and MP3 player at the same time.Unfortunately it didn't make it past the GPS. I plugged the product into my car's cigarette lighter and the fan kicked on, but as soon as I plugged my GPS into the cigarette lighter port, it blew the fuse to my car's cigarette lighter. I had to replace the fuse which involved a trip to an auto-parts store and digging through my car's manual. CyberPower's customer support told me over the phone that I had a faulty unit and to return it immediately, which I did. I opted for a refund rather than an exchange because I wasn't going to risk any harm to my car at the cost of an accessory that I can live without.
For the approximately 20 seconds that I had this product running before plugging in my GPS, I noticed the cooling fan was quite loud. I could have lived with it, but my initial reaction was disappointment and that the constant hum would get annoying. I'd probably only use the inverter when I absolutely had to power more than one thing at a time, rather than keeping it plugged in constantly so the ports were available at any time, as I'd hoped.
On the plus side, the product's design is slim and sleek, easily fitting a cup holder or tucked away in an open compartment.
I gave 2/5 stars for a potentially handy product that has a noisy fan and is a little pricey in my opinion. My score assumes that most of these products work, but acknowledges that there's still a small risk of blowing a fuse in your car, which is more than I care to deal with.First of all, I work in a van and have 4 cup holders and this does not fit in any of them well but I have found out that just leaving it on the floor by my drivers side forks fine cause It wont move so far cause the cord is so short... I wonder by the design if it was "really" supposed to be that style of adapter? ( LOL) The reason I say that is because the exhaust fan is on the bottom which would tend to get quite hot if it did fit well in a cup holder. But...It does get the job done and do exactly what I bought it for and I had some promotional vouchers to use so the price was right but I am sure if you look around there are better suited products for your needs... By me having only one cigarette outlet in my entire van that seats 8 this lets me free that one up as well as have an extra one and a 1 amp powered usb plug so that it will charge most all of my usb devices well... It is built of higher quality materials so it should last long? Only time will tell but It was the cheapest I could find for the design I originally intended for. I suppose I could go a little out of my way and "custom" mount it but It works fine as it is and when the time comes I will do so.. Not much more to say but that it works great but just not quite as what I thought it would be.. I LOVE amazon though! They ship everything I buy from them quickly and if I have ever had a dispute about ANYTHING, they have handled it well! Thanks Amazon!

My wife and I do a fair amount of long distance traveling by car. We purchased the Mobile Power Inverter to allow the passenger to use our laptop without worrying about battery life or lengthy recharging. On our first trip, the unit worked as specified. The laptop behaved exactly as it does when plugged into a normal wall outlet. The USB port is also a great convenience if you don't have a car charger for your cell phone, etc.
There are only two "negatives." The unit has a cooling fan that is at little noisy, but is usually drowned out at highway speeds. Also, This unit does not work properly off the car battery alone, that is, the engine must be running to provide sufficient power.
Also, we tried the unit in our Prius hybrid and it worked just fine.makes too much noise and plug will not SNAP in and stay.
it is ok for the price though.
