I bought one of these on 1 Dec. 2012 and it is just like the one in the picture asymmetrical with a straight cord.

I bought a 2nd one to install on my motorcycle and I wanted the straight cord to fasten to the frame under the bodywork.

The 2nd one is of a more traditional symmetrical shape and with a coiled cord. Not a real letdown though, the coiled one will work great in the car! (But the seller should warn you!)

Lousy build quality. Did not fit properly in the ciglighter outlet. Very prone to lose contact and thereby stop charging.
