My phone is a 3G and it does not charge it 100%, but more like 50% which is enough for me. So far its holding the charge over several days so it's ready for emergency use.
Cons are that when you use the charger, it has 'bits' which you have to put aside and prone to losing. Like the 'cap' and a plastic bit from where the its own usb/micro-usb charging cable is hidden.
This is my first such battery, but I am very pleased.
Edit: Been like 3 months now and working perfectly. I also take back that bit about it charging just 50%. It charges 100% of my iphone 3G battery. Full charge within an hr.
Oh, and yes, I've lost the little bits, but who cares! Battery, cable that's all you need. Charges via USB btw, which can also be used on the wall socket adapter which came via your iphone.
Edit: Half a yaer later, bought another one. No more bits, just charger and cable. Yay. Old one still working great!I have used this for weeks now ans am very happy with the product.
It charges up quickly and keeps its charge for a long time.
It is so much smaller than other chargers that I don't know why all are not designed this way. I snap it into place and it extends less than an inch off the bottom, so I can still keep it in the pocket of my purse where I usually store it without it hanging out or being too bulky. My hubby has used it and keeps the charging phone in is pocket without any extra bulk.
It works with all generations of iPhones, so you won' t have to toss it if you are using an older iPhone but want to upgrade to the iPhone 4 later.
The LCD lights let you know in one glance if it is charged or not, it never leaves me guessing.
I really like the keychain-style charger it has with it, you can transform it quickly to plug into any USB port for a quick refresh.
I am amazed at how cheap it was for how much trouble-free use I get out of it. I highly recommend this to anyone with an iPhone!Only problem is the directions are very vague but it does do as advertised. Helped on a 10+ hour plane trip! This product is very good. Very small quick to charge, very light and easy to use. I went and bought this product because of the short lived battery on both my ITouch and Iphone. I am always traveling and ending up with a dead Iphone/Itouch which can be rather troublesome.I have to say, it works above and beyond the price it is set at. I have tested it on both the IPhone and Itouch and have found that the product works no matter the battery level of either devices (compared to some I have tried that turned off or stopped working around 50%). Completely compatible to charge the backup battery(Iphone battery charger) with the Apple USB charger plug. If you are considering getting a backup device for your Touch/Iphone, I certainly recommend getting this device. If you want a device that will back up your phone in a pinch, this is it. It's pretty no-frills. As another reviewer suggested, the plastic cap will ultimately be lost somewhere eventually. It is also hard to remove. The device arrives with no instructions. I have not been successful in getting it to charge fully, though I have had it plugged in overnight. I can only get it to charge my phone about 30% before it is out of power. Also, any slight movement causes my iPhone 4 to throw out a "this device is not supported" notification...upon which time the device stops charging my phone. Sometimes this happens without any kind of movement of the phone. Finally, the device does not fit on a phone with any kind of case, so you'll have to remove that to fully seat the battery. If it had some sort of extender or the connector was just a smidge longer, that would be helpful. Next time, when I purchase one of these (and I see myself having to, given the limitations of this one) I will spend the $40 or whatever for a better backup device.
