Griot's Garage 92217 Battery Manager IV

Griot's Garage 92217 Battery Manager IV
  • Works on both 6 volt and 12 volt batteries
  • Great for monitoring and maintaining the battery on a vehicle in storage
  • Includes three different connection options with quick disconnect leads
  • Compatible with standard lead-acid batteries as well as AGM batteries
  • Quad-phase charging process

I bought the Battery Manager IV over a year ago, because my car often sits for extended periods of time without being driven. And I got tired of the battery dying, needing to get a jump or push-start the car, and other such inconveniences. And I can tell ya that ever since I purchased and have been using the Battery Manager IV, these frustrations have been a thing of the past.

It actively takes the battery up to 14.4V to fully charge it, then enters the float mode to maintain the battery's full charge at 13.5V (as opposed to cheaper units that keep driving 14.4V into a battery during long term float, actually damaging its life).

Also of note is that it'll charge a battery connected to the car, a solo/disconnected battery, and even a dual-battery setup, as I have in one of my vehicles.

One thing I did find out about this unit, however, is that the battery must already have and be able to maintain a minimum charge for the Battery Manager IV to work. Ie, this unit will NOT be able to charge a completely dead/drained battery. That battery will have to be charged for a bit (or, after a jump, drive around for a while for the alternator to charge the battery some), THEN the unit will take over, recharging the battery to its full capacity.

All in all, this unit does exactly what it claims to do, and it does it well. I am very happy with the purchase, and wouldn't hesitate to purchase a second unit for my other vehicle. The only reason I didn't though was I decided to go with Griot's 3-In-1 Battery Charger/Maintainer/Tester (Part #77495) so at least one of my units can charge a fully discharged battery, AND test it too!

We liked the first Battery Manager so well, we bought another one! One of our vehicles sits for long periods of time without being driven, and we have found that this works like a champ to keep the battery topped off. The second one lives at the beach house, to keep the vehicle there charged up when we aren't around.

Yuasa YUAM3RH4L YTX14L-BS Battery

Yuasa YUAM3RH4L YTX14L-BS Battery
  • 12 Volt, 12 amp-hour, 200 cold cranking amps, maintenance-free battery
  • Totally sealed and spill-proof - all acid is absorbed in special plates and absorbed glass mat separators
  • No need to ever add water
  • Advanced lead-calcium technology hold its specific gravity more than 3 times longer than conventional batteries
  • Battery supplied dry with acid bottle

I ordered this battery for my harley with the acid shipped separately with battery. Very simple instructions on how to fill battery. The acid being shipped separately makes it fresh and long lasting. I received this product 5 days earlier than the date they gave me for delivery. I filled it in 5 minutes with the acid and charged it then I installed it and off I went riding all day. I highly recommend this seller and will do buisness again with seller.Than you!!

This is a high quality battery at a good price and shipped in a timely manner.

This has nothing to do with the quality of this battery but the 2005 HD Sportster has a less than optimal battery installation. The negative cable is too short to allow you to easily disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

HD recommends removing the negative cable at the ground stud which is quite difficult to get to since it's buried under hoses, tubes and wires.

You can slide the battery out and barely access the negative terminal and if you are careful remove the screw that holds the negative cable to the battery and tighten it back up when you install the new battery. The problem is if you don't make sure the negative cable is tight (and remains tight) you will melt the battery terminal when you try to start the bike. That's why I bought a second battery.

This is a battery that you fill with electrolyte (included) and then put on a trickle charger for a few hours or overnight. Once it's fully charged you seal the battery with the included strip and don't have to worry about ever adding water.

I purchased this battery for my 883 R Sportster. I liked the concept of filling the battery with acid, so you know that the battery is really fresh. I absolutely recommend the product.

There were no updates about the status of the order in the first 3 days and I received the item on the 4 th day.

If seller was updating the status, my good experience would be a great experience.

My 07 1200c Sportster's factory battery and this one are NOT exactly the same, though the same SIZE. The positive and negative cables attach to each battery differently. This one has 2 'posts' to attach your cables, requiring the provided nuts, washers and bolts. The original battery only requires 2 bolts that screw the negative and positive cables DIRECTLY to the battery. Here is the important part: The new battery provides 4 bolts (2 long & 2 short) and you choose which 2 to attach your cables to the posts with. The PROBLEM is the 2 short are too short and the 2 long are too long. -->> but the original Harley battery bolts are perfect. That said the new battery's configuration is BETTER than the original because over tightening the new battery bolts won't pull the lead posts out of the plastic coated battery. Yes. I did this.

.

I give it 5 stars because the story has a happy ending. Both batteries weigh about the same and seem of high quality. I know the cables are attached to the posts better and this battery is 1/2 price the original. Just don't lose the original bolts...

This battery is a great replacement for my 1200 HD sporty. Follow the directions or see youtube for great vids on how to prepare this battery for use. Interestingly enough, the battery that this replaces is from D Specialities. D Specialities and Yuasa are the same battery. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and buy the Yuasa (the actual manufacturer). Don't waste additional money on a sticker. BTW, she started up like a champ and my voltmeter registers a strong charge.

This unit was used by a rep of the super-reliable American Automobile Association (AAA) to jump start my 2004 Toyota Sienna in one minute flat late on a Sunday afternoon after I failed to start the vehicle (a) with a 450 AMP booster purchased from a discount warehouse, (b) with a lesser capacity Black & Decker unit, and (c) with booster cables connected to a nearby car. While I thought I had done everything possible to protect against such a situation (and the battery was a 1 year 10-month Sears DieHard), nothing worked until AAA showed up with the Clore ES5000. Since I cannot afford to have this happen in a remote location such as Northern Wisconsin where I have a summer cottage, I immediately ordered one. Hope my experience (and yours) is the same as that of the AAA rep.

I bought this from Amazon, and I have not been disapointed.

1. You can leave it plugged in all the time, no worry about overcharging and ruining the battery.

2. I jumped 7 cars off one charge, then used it as the car battery to get a car home.

3. Plug in other stuff with the DC12v plug.

4. Not too heavy, and very portable.

cons:

1. ...

2. none!

This is essentially the same booster pack that Century made about 5 years ago, just bigger. My Century pack (ES2500) has worked well the times I have needed it. The only problem with the Century pack is during cold weather the charging lights will come on when pushing the test button and stay on. (I just don't push the button anymore during the winter unless I plan on charging it). They don't draw much voltage (they were on for over two weeks before I saw them and the pack was still almost fully charged). The new pack hasn't done that to me yet. My Century pack has started 4 cylinder cars with the temps hitting 10 degrees below Farenheit.

This new and bigger pack is heavier but very similar in every other way. I bought this one to be sure that I could jump my 8 cylinder pickup. I never tried the old pack on the bigger motor.

I wanted this Booster Pack for my truck and then put the old one in my wife's car. I just charge the packs about every 4-5 months and have never had a problem. I combined this with a small 12 volt air compressor to keep in each vehicle to be as ready as I can during my drives with the military.

I own a used car dealership and have used these booster pacs for about 10 years now. They are by far the best and longest lasting. I use them on a daily basis and they can take a real beating but after they get dropped a 100 times the plastic case will crack and eventually break apart. I never had to replace one because of a bad battery though, even after several years. I also like the slim desing unlike those big bulky ones with all the extra gadgets. Dont waste your money on those, they are cheap quality and the battey on it is like using a couple of AA batteries to start a car.

Being fair I have had several types of battery boosters and this one is by far the best one for the money I've ever used . Portable easy to use and capable of starting my Dead F-450 6.0 twin battery diesel truck when jumpers a good battery charger and my old battery Booster couldn't . Best part I didn't by new battery for over a week and jumped the truck off at least 6 times without charging the Battery Booster Impresive by Any standards .

This is about as simple as a charger can get. An AC plug in transformer with a voltage select switch and color coded alligator clips at the end of the cord. It charged both of my batteries (6 and 12 volt) without any problems and gets only slightly warm to the touch. The charge rate varied between 400 ma to 40 ma (depending on battery condition) and produces pulsating DC.

Arrival of very hot weather seemed to coincide with annoying beeping of my house alarm. Further investigation determined that the battery needed charging.

12V sealed lead-acid batteries of the type used in many house alarms are pretty expensive. Fortunately, they are rechargeable. This charger only costs about 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of a new battery.

I let it charge during a weekend for a total of about 12-16 hours. I don't recommend leaving things like this charging while you're away from home or asleep, just in case.

No more beeping, so it seems to have worked. The charger does NOT have an LED light or other feature to indicate that it is "on" or whether in fact it is "done" charging.

This charger works fine -my only gripe is that I wish it had some sort of indicator light to tell you that it's working, or that it's charging. You know, a red light while the battery is charging, a green light when it's done. Other than that, it's fine.

This item should be listed as I have, because it will charge only small batteries, (lawn Tractor, or such items) that have loss their charge over a long period, as is common with lead acid batteries. It will maintain batteries that sit idle over the winter, and recharge small like batteries, if the discharge was do to idle periods. If your battery, "dies" after only a few days replace it, as it more than likely has a bad cell(shorted) and you will ruin these chargers, as they will put out the max they can and eventually "burn" up, do to excess heat. They can be used on large batteries that are in good shape,to "Maintain" the charge. Don't confuse these units for a full size battery charger, they charge at 4-10 AMPS, this unit only puts out Milli amps.

The thing will need supervision because it is non-descriminatory. It will over-charge your product, but what I like most about it is that it will always deliver voltage. So dead batteries can be charged, a trickle charge battery will only turn on if it senses 60% of the batteries full voltage.

Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Chip + Universal Windshield Car Mount Holder with Large Suction Cup for AT&T Samsung Captivate SGH-i897 GSM CellphoneI bought this a couple weeks ago and had trouble with the one they sent me so i wrote to them about it, after a couple days they instantly sent me a new one free of charge, couldn't have asked for a more profesional company. i dealt with some companies that dont care if what you got is even as described.

so thank you for everything. Product works great and fits any device. maybe the only thing i would improve is to add directions but if you spend 5-10 min playing with it thats all you will need.

Very good car charger, comparable to those you will spend at least $10 on, and the holder included is very nice and durable. I thought at first I would throw away the holder and was just getting it for the price of the charger but in the end both were very good and I was very pleased with the product and price!

We did not find the installation of the Tire Minder system to be as easy as advertised for our class C RV, but the customer service was superb. There are few companies that will go the extra mile for their consumers and this company is one of them. The system is great. If it were not for the Tire Minder, we'd not have known that one of our wheels had a crack. Chevrolet replaced it under warranty. All in all, it's a great product and a great company

I purchased Tireminder with 6 sensors for my new Class A motorhome. The system was easy to set up and all sensors are within one to two psi accuracy double checked with professional gages. I run 120 psi cold tire pressure on 22.5 inch rims. I did add reinforced valve stem extenders to make the caps more accessible. After several months the system still works fine. I did notice on the Tireminder website that they now recommend you unplug the system from the cigarette lighter when not in use to extend the life of the monitor screen. I purchased the system from Camping World. The company offered free replacement batteries through 2018! This system is a great timesaver and back saver when you get to be an old paw paw like me. I saw other systems where the the sensors did not have replaceable batteries. The tireminder batteries are easily installed and replaceable. I am happy with the system.

Only had it for a few weeks so cannot judge it harshly.

It appears to handle the power draw quite well,

the battery meter does lie a little bit -when the

battery is fully charged, and the power cuts out,

it drops down to "half charged" but i think this is because

being such a beefy charger, it maybe requires a few more

batteries on it, as the voltage of a single large group 27

lead acid battery stabilises around 12.36 volts during use of battery,

there is nothing wrong with either the battery or the inverter,

I think its just needs a few more batteries, it is a big

inverter and is desined to run/charge more than just one battery.

I have two Hondas with their original OEM batteries and I was getting concerned about the batteries' health. It's a pain to get two cars down to the auto parts store for testing (by folks who may not be neutral about the results) so I invested in a Actron CP7612 tester. It's simple to use to test a vehicle's battery and charging system.

As other reviewers have noted, the tester can get very hot if the spring-loaded test switch is held in the "on" position for too long but my unit only got warm during the 10-15 second test specified in the instructions. The product is robust enough for the DIYer, with heavy connecting cables and an acceptably rigid sheet metal enclosure for the test element (heating coil) and meter.

I bought this today at a local auto supply house at a cost of $60.00 plus $3.00 state sales tax. Obviously Amazons' price is much better, but I wanted it NOW to test a battery that had been drawn down to 2 volts. I had charged the battery and brought in back to a steady 12.75 which is where it should be, but I wanted to determine if it would hold a charge. The Actron took just 10 seconds to verify I should be able to trust the battery OK. And not have to buy a new one. So in the end, it saved me $52.00, as the new battery costs $115.00. expensive I know, it is a Harley Davidson motorcycle battery.

The Actron CP7612 battery load tester works well and gives reliable info regarding battery performance. The only caveat is to remember the unit gets quite hot and following the instructions specifically in terms of how long to leave the unit "on" is important to avoid overheating.

Does what it's supposed to do, however, it does not place a 100A load on a battery as the specs suggest -I tested around 45-50A. Great for warming up your hands on a cold day too! Just don't hold the switch for longer than 15 seconds or the element will get WHITE HOT!

I tend to keep cars for a long time, and always lust after features in newer ones while my car lacks the new toys. So, three years ago when I bought my car, I decided that I'd replace the factory stereo when my payments were through.

I wanted: a) bluetooth so that I can use the phone in the car, b) USB-input so that I could load up a memory stick with as much music as would fit, and c) a back-up camera (since the units I liked had screens anyway). I didn't want or need navigation, don't really care about HD or satellite radio, or anything that requires yet another monthly subscription to something.

The Pioneer AVH-X2500BT fit everything I wanted it to do. It's more intuitive than the single-DIN unit in our other car. I was able to figure out most of its features without resorting to the manual. The volume controls and forward/back track/radio advancing buttons take a little getting used to, but took just a couple of days to master. The bluetooth was very easy to set up, and works great. Playing CDs is a snap. Customizing the display to match my car's interior lighting (orange) was cool. I like the changeable display background, but it's curious that most of the designs are largely obscured by album art when playing media.

There is no on/off switch, which takes getting used to. There is a mute button and a "turn off screen" button, so pressing one after the other would effectively silence and blank the image, but to turn it off requires pressing the home button, and choosing "off" from the list of icons. The unit is designed to compliment iPhones and iPods (with the proper connections), like many audio devices. I have an Android phone, so I can't speak to the features that are made for the iUniverse. But my Android integrates fine via bluetooth, with Pandora working seamlessly, and my phone's audio content working fine as long as I have it cued up before I get in the car (which I do with the DAR.FM app on my Evo phone).

My car doesn't have steering wheel controls, so I do have a little "new car lust" for that feature. The more I use this unit, the easier it's getting to get it do do what I want, but I'm still learning. And one thing that almost everyone will have to deal with is the fact that an after-market stereo doesn't look like it came with the car. The color-adjustments help that a bit, but unless you have a car with a rectangular-shaped hole in the dash, you'll have to deal with the kits that are out there to make it fit. They're uniformly bland/ugly. In my Mitsubishi Galant, my silver factory dash was replaced with a flat black plastic kit, and a chintzy black gasket. I didn't much like it, so I came up with a solution:

I work in a sign shop, so I measured the space around the unit, measured the surrounding area, and cut a piece of satin silver applique to fit around it. It was a very easy, inexpensive solution to dress it up a little, and make the unit look less like it's after-market. (Every town has sign shops with laser CNC cutters, and self-adhesive appliques come in a variety of colors. Keep the idea in mind if the after-market look bugs you!)

I'm not an audiophile, and wasn't buying this unit for its amazing sound, but it really is pretty good, even out of my factory speakers. The depth of sound, and clarity at higher volume is much better than the factory Mitsubishi stereo, which topped out (and distorted) at ridiculously low volume, and always sounded tinny. This is much better, and will suit more casual listeners. I just know I like it, and will not be wishing I had a newer car with newer toys for a while!

NOTE: I loaded my 64GB memory stick with music, which I separated into folders for artists, and a few hodgepodge categories, but found that this unit (and most like it) puts the folders and songs in order by their creation date. Do yourself a favor if you make one of these yourself. Google "How To Make Your Songs Play in Order: Sort Your MP3 Player's Songs Alphabetically" and follow the link. It will make your song surfing so, so much easier.

Buy Pioneer AVH-X2500BT 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 6.1" WVGA Touchscreen Display Now

The product was easy to install, and has a fantastic feature set. The Bluetooth Audio feature works really well, and my iPhone 4s automatically pairs with the device within a few seconds of power-on.

My problems

No real iPod functionality until I bought the ridiculously overpriced Pioneer CDIU201S. As if this functionality couldn't be easily integrated into the unit when everything is USB connected.

The features that work/don't work based on when you're stopped are arbitrary and ridiculous. Why can I set a graphical Equalizer but not change the display brightness?

Also, the receiver is WAYYY too sensitive about when the brake is on. On my 350z, it usually takes me at least 4 or 5 tries to get the stereo to realize that my brake is on...

Conclusion:

Buy the receiver, but if you're using iOS devices, count the cable in with the cost. Also, buy one of the Brake Override/Bypasses. Don't watch a movie while you're driving but Pioneer stupidly locks you out of so much stuff, it's worth it to get the bypass (maybe the bypass is made by the same team of people who decide which features work/don't work when the brake is on?)

Purchased the AVH-X2500BT and have been pleased so far with the performance. I also own the avh-3200bt. The X2500 seems alot faster and has a nice sharp display. DVD playback is fast and sharp. I have the headunit hooked up to a rear dvd player and back up camera. Hookup was a cinch and as used the RP4CH11 in my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The steering controls work perfect and the Parking Brake bypass they sell on amazon also worked perfect. The Bluetooth streaming seems to work flawlessly, but I really don't use it that much because I use the CD-IU201S to play movies off my Iphone 4s. That works really well...I have been waiting for this feature for sometime. It's nice that the radio has all the inputs on the back, unlike my 3200bt. There are no wires hanging out the front of the radio. All in all it was a good purchase and I am happy I got to purchase it for $275 through Pacific Stereo Black friday deals.

Finally got music videos to work and they look great on it. Usb play is extremely fast, I have the parking brake overide setup and the steering wheels fully working so I lost nothing by upgrading and gained alot couldnt promt it enough.
