I purchased this inverter to replace a Sinergex Pure Sine 600 unit that failed after 5 years on my boat which is used to provide power to the entertainment system and TV.Compared to other similar pure sine wave inverters the ProWatt SW600 is a great buy. Easily half the price of a replacement Sinergex and other similar units.
For my application, it had to be installed in concealed location. The SW600 was slightly larger than the Sinergex unit it was replacing but not by much and it fit nicely in the same space that the Sinergex unit was in.
The unit works great, provides clean power to the entertainment system and TV. It hums a bit when running but not enough to be annoying in a quiet cabin. If you are mounting this unit to a wood panel you may want to use rubber isolation to minimize the amplification of the hum through the wood panel.
My only complaint isn't so much with this unit as with the most recent 'safety' requirements that in order to comply with UL458 prevent this inverter (and virtually all other similar units) on the market today from turning on when DC power is applied. You MUST press a momentary button on the front of this unit to power it up. As a result of the safety requirements of UL458, it is now expected that any inverter will be mounted where it is easily accessible. Trouble is on my boat and in many other RV and other marine applications, the inverters are usually installed out of sight in a compartment.
Unlike most other inverters on the market in this category, at least Xantrex offers a remote panel/switch for this unit which was a big plus since I had to install it in a concealed location. However, it also meant running the remote cable and finding yet more space in a sensible and convenient location to mount the remote panel. The remote panel just has an indicator light and momentary power switch. For its size, at 2" x 2.5", it would be nice if the remote panel would at least include a display to show the power and voltage readings just like the main unit does.
My gripes about the remote panel issues aside, overall I would highly recommend this unit for any application in which you want clean AC power. It really is a great value.

However, I have TESTED this inverter for practical load applications.
I have tested it on my pellet stove, for 5 hours to run the computerized controlled Harmon stove.
I have just done a video on youtube where I used it to cook a full chicken in the crockpot for almost 5 hours.
(the crockpot doesn't need a fancy true sinewave inverter, but this checked to see it could manage a load efficiently)
Go to youtube, and type "themarkfellows2" to see me cook a chicken with it. The video is a little over long, but I also put a tutorial, with formulas in it. Hopefully, you find this useful to you, and your purchase!

I bought this elsewhere. This is by far the lowest cost True Sinewave inverter I have ever seen. I don't have an Oscilloscope at home to verify the wave form but trust the manufacturers listed specs, which specify True Sinewave.
True Sinewave(close the real thing that comes out of the wall) not "Pure Sinewave", which is just a modified square wave without noise spikes.
I bought this to run my Harman Pellet stove off of battery backup in the event of a power outage without fuel for my portable gas generator. I bought a True Sinewave inverter because I don't want to risk damaging my 3300 dollar stove by using a "Modified Sinewave" inverter, or more accurately a Modified Square wave inverter, which is the cheap standard in electrical power inverters.
Modified Sinewave is the types of inverters in UPS and most inverters sold today. Read the warning that says it could damage variable speed motors and such.
True Sinewave inverters like this one don't have those issues.
I tested this inverter out tonight and it ran my stove perfectly in full auto mode with full auto motor control and full startup sequence with the ignitor. The cooling fan came on for about 10 seconds when my stove was pulling about 350 watts nominal. This unit has 1200 watts of surge power which works for electric motors as startup current( volts times current equals watts) can be quite high.
The Stove draws uses 440 watts of power on auto startup and 255 nominal. As far as startup power for the motors I have no idea.
I can't speak of reliability as I just got it but it has a two year warranty.

Inverters ! Modified Sine Wave, Pure Sine Wave, True Sine Wave, what the heck is going on. When attempting to power a TV from an inverter I learned that not all inverters are equal. The first one I tried said it was a Pure Sine Wave however it had so much RFI it blocked the antenna signal. This Xantrex "True" Sine Wave unit eliminated all my problems; it works great without RFI. I can recommend it. It has many nice features like the ground fault plug, the digital voltage and amperage meter, and the strong rear connections for the 12-volt inputs. This charger works great with my 1st gen Nano. I listen to Audio books. I hear no high pitched hiss or any other extra sounds when the charger is plugged in.You must be very careful when selecting a car charger for either your iPod Classic, iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS because each and every product has a slightly different voltage that is not necessarily compatible with every charging unit. Well, I will give it one star because I have to and one more because it worked great for a week then started to get loider. I bought it off Woot for $8 + shipping and could not get them to replace it. I guess it has a manufacturer Warranty but have not tried that yet. The problem it that it made a rattling noise and sounds as if something is stuck in it. Then it starts to smell as if it is about to catch on fire. Great, that is the last thing I needmy truck to burn down. I will not use it if I am not with it.Other downsides. The charging port is on the same side as the power cord that you plug in. This is awkward. You can only charge one at a time or it gets loud. Never tried it on an airplane but I guess that would be one place that the amount of noise it makes would not matter. Mine did not come with it's little cary case as it was supposed to.

Quality of the unit is very good. 4 stars because they don't say, will not work on all battery's. Also, the rings are not large enough to accomodate an automotive battery cable post attachment. The holes must be enlarger unless you are attached to other than the atcual battery

This Mp3 Player Is Awesome. the controls are very simple and quick to use, they are better than any other mp3 player I ever tried. The fm Tuner is a little weak and you have to turn the mp3 player volume up all the way, as well at the radio volume up pretty loud to hear it. It is not cluttered with extra features. It does have some glitches: Sometimes it locks up, and none of the buttons respond, However If you hold the power button for about 30 seconds, It will reset without deleting your files or music. I cracked the plastic over the screen and they wanted me to pay $99 to fix a simple piece of plastic, I Used Clear nail polish instead. It may not be the best out there, but I like it because it looks great and is the most basic of mp3 players. I give it 4 stars out of 5 stars because other than the bad customer service and the glitches, Which may be fixed in future updates, It is a Nice and Simple to use mp3 player. I have had this unit for about a month now and use it most days. The pros for this handsfree: Easy to pair to your cell phone, the answer button is well marked with bright orange, very slim modern design, holds a charge for a very long time (after a month I am still on first charge), comes with a mini usb car charger, sound quality is average or that of a quality speaker phone. The cons to this unit: My main complaint is with the on/off switch. You have to hold it in for 5-6 seconds before it will turn on or off may not seem like a lot of time but when you are in a hurry it can be very annoying. I don't know why they set it that way I can't see any benefit for it. My only other con is that the volume resets when you turn it off. I like it a little louder than the default volume but have to turn it up every time if I want it that way. Overall a good handsfree if you need one, I would suggest it for longer drives or commuting if you need to talk while you drive. To be completely hands free I would also suggest a dashmount for your phone as well. I went with the Braketron Hold-It, works great.

I agree with what most of the other reviewers are saying. Couple things the battery life is really amazing. It has an incredible standby battery life. Unlike other reviews, holding the on/off button for 5 seconds to turn it off doesn't bother me. It assures me with an audible ping that the unit is indeed powered down. It has a long range so it's important to turn it off if your car is parked near your home, as in not further than a garage. Otherwise it will ring through to the speakerphone. Turning it back on is a breeze. It paired up in seconds flat upon first use. Sound quality? About 3 stars. But hey this was $16 bucks. I haven't had any complaints from the people on the other end of the line. I've checked my messages left on other's voicemail, and it doesn't sound bad at all. It really is big bang for the buck. It is light, it looks nice, and it works well. It's not up to the quality of a $100 unit, and you will see that with the precision or lack thereof on the buttons, but again, $16. It does not require a lot of toggling on and off, so I don't see any reason for the tactile operation to fail simply because it's not Mercedes compared to Geo. I would recommend it and I would buy another one.Lastly, it is LOUD. I've had to actually turn it down because at full volume it is just blaring. Simply stated, it does a nice job of hands free for a great price. Hope that helps. If it breaks, I will annotate my review accordingly. :)

If I could change anything about it, I would suggest adding readable instructions to the back of the cabinet, a longer electrical supply cord (one or two extra feet would be perfect), and a larger analog meter.

Well Made. Does what it's supposed to.Customer service is non existent !You get an answering machine, and never receive a return call, ever !
The Documents leave out MANY ways that this item will respond to charge levels and charge cycles of various batteries, so it's off to the internet or trial and error if your unit does something that you don't understand. One of the tricks to this charger is to start out on 2 amp for about an hour, then raise up to 15 amp. When the charger reads full charge at 15 amps, drop to 2 amp and top the battery off for a full charge. It will take about 6 hours to charge a depleted battery.
The jump start barely started my car,but it did the trick,and it's a very hard to start car that sometimes won't jumpstart, so I was impressed.
It helps to charge a very dead battery for about 15 minutes before you jump start it with this unit.
For the price, everyone should own one of these. It's a great product, who's only MAJOR FLAW is the embarrassing lack of customer service. Schumacher Management should be ashamed of themselves.

Heavy steel and copper. Thats what counts in a charger and this one has both. Don't buy the lightweights from China. Made in Mexico, but its an old standby US design.OKAY its a year later... this one died early on they sent a new one after I retutned the bad one. That one died too. They quickly sent another without any return needed, and the rep sounded like he was Po'd at his company for allowing so much junk to go out the door. Now I have two working and one dead for spare parts, and even after the hassle these are still the most for the least on the market. You only other option is sears, and they appear to be made by Schumaker also, or harbor freight which should send its electric stuff with a death certificate.

Just got it today. Tried to start the car with it, but it wasn't enough juice, so I waited about three minutes with it set on 75A engine start mode. Started it successfully after that. Ran the car for 5 minutes. Turned off the engine and tried to start the car without the device. Success. Now it's charging in the garage. Looks good so far. I agree with the previous review that the extension cord is too short.

I installed it myself in about 2 and a half hours. (I did my homework first, knew where and what color wires I needed to locate) The only problems I had were that my body doesn't flex like it used to. :(
I've had other remote start systems throughout the years, but this one had the smallest "brain" of them all. It actually fit BEHIND the gauge cluster.
If you have any idea how tight Japanese cars are made these days, you'll know they don't waste any space. I was impressed at the tiny size.
All of the functions (I was interested in) work perfectly and I am very, very happy with this purchase.

The only disappointment to me was the units' "tachless mode" would not work on a (my) warm engine. Being as the unit senses the alternators' output to determine if the engine is running or not, and we all know that a car that has been driven for a while (warm engine) will have a battery that is near fully charged. So, the unit thinks the engine is NOT running being the battery needs little, if any of a charge. (Ask me how long it took me to realize this, as the unit worked fine at first, then would start and soon turn off with a fully warm engine) So, big deal, I had to attach 1 more wire,(Tachometer wire) right at the back of the gauge cluster, easy!
It has many, many options, timers, modes that will satisfy just about everyone out there.
Installation instructions were straightforward.
Wiring diagrams were VERY easy to understand.
Operating instructions were clear.
Programming the many options were clear, but trying to remember them all without printed directions is useless to my tired, old brain.
Just about everyday I use the:
Remote Start
Remote Lock/Unlock
Idle Down Mode (Gives me 10 Minutes to run into a store while engine continues to run)
Timed Shutdown (Turbo Timer) (Engine runs 1 minute after I remove the key. I have a turbo Subaru)
That's all I need in a remote start, and this unit does it all.
I don't need a 2-way system that talks back to me I'll leave that to you younger folks. Enjoy your conversations!

After spending a ton of time researching the wiring of my truck and spending most of a day wiring it in, the unit malfunctioned and required unplugging it to stop the horn from sounding.
