BAOFENG BF-888S UHF FM Transceiver High Illumination Flashlight Walkie Talkie Two-Way Radio

BAOFENG BF-888S UHF FM Transceiver High Illumination Flashlight Walkie Talkie Two-Way Radio
  • 50 CTCSS/105 CDCSS/VOX Function
  • Voice Prompt/PC Programming/voice scramble/encryption
  • Emergency Alarm/Intelligent Charging
  • Battery Save/Low Voltage Alert
  • Time-out Timer/Torch Light

These are very good quality. The feel, controls, and cabinets are all substantial.

When you turn the device on, a voice says "Power On" and then speaks the channel number. As you change channels, it speaks the channel you just selected.

Squelch is a little aggressive, but there is a button to release it when needed and the software allows you to tweak it, but once set, you can not alter the level from the radio, so a little aggressive is a good thing. Most of the time it was not a problem. I live in a fairly hilly and wooded area and got an honest 1.25 miles of reliable communication over that terrain. At times it went further, but terrain makes a difference. Perfect for places like camp grounds, ski areas, and other outdoor venues. Not going to work to communicate with another party on the other side of the mountain.

According to my meter, it is outputting just over 3 watts, not the advertised 5, but with a better antenna you might achieve that. Even so, it is more powerful than most of the radios that are sold to operate on GMRS frequencies, but not as good as many HAM HTs. But then, it's only $30. The range is very comparable to the $300 Motorola GMRS Sport radios I bought 20 years ago for ski trips. In fact, I bought these intending to be the replacements to those radios and I think they are exactly what I'm looking for. I also don't have to worry about getting a $300 radio wet, lost, or fall from a chairlift. I don't expect 20 years of use, but they seem rugged enough that I'm not expecting them to last only one outdoor trip.

On top from left to right, you have the Antenna socket (yes, you can replace the antenna with a standard screw style), the LED lamp (flashlight), channel selector, power/volume. Just below the power/volume on the front panel is the LED that lights red when transmitting and green when receiving. So easy to teach kids to "wait for the green light to go out before you try to talk" Adults too. (^_^)

On the right side is the mike/speaker jacks under a protective cover. These are also used for the programming cable.

On the left side is the large black push to talk button. This isn't the best switch I've used, but it isn't bad. You will need to use it a few times to find the 'sweet' spot that is easy to press and hold. Below the PTT button are 2 orange buttons. One releases the squelch and the other toggles the LED light on the top of the unit. The light is actually pretty useful.

The belt clip is attached to the metal heatsink on the back of the radio. This makes for a strong attachment and it is a good clip. The battery slides under the clip and is easy to install/remove, but is secure enough I don't fear it falling off.

A note on Frequencies:

The frequencies that come on the radio from the factory are mostly ILLEGAL in the USA. Channel 6 and 7 are legitimate GMRS, but you need a license to use them. You must reprogram most of this radio to operate on legal frequencies. The only ones that are legal are GMRS and HAM.

If you want to use the FRS frequencies, be sure to set them for low power in the software. Or, configure the lower orange button for power toggle instead of flashlight. Full power is illegal on FRS frequencies.

At full power, you have to have a license of some sort. Either a GMRS, HAM, or some commercial license for other frequencies. The radio can be programmed for any frequency and repeater offset between 400 mhz and 470 mhz. You need to be very careful because some of these frequencies are for emergency beacons, Satellite operations, and government. You can see a Band Plan here:

To be in compliance, you MUST program these radios to a legal frequency.

To reprogram them, you'll need the programming cable:

or

www[.]amazon[.]com/Programming-Cable-Baofeng-UV-5R-Radio/dp/B008ORT9OY/ref=pd_cp_e_2

You will also need to download the software:From the factory, the radio is programmed as follows:

Channel 1 frequency 462.125 RX-TX 69.3 Hz CTCSS

Channel 2 frequency 462.225

Channel 3 frequency 462.325

Channel 4 frequency 462.425 RX 103.5 Hz CTCSS

Channel 5 frequency 462.525 RX 114.8 Hz CTCSS

Channel 6 frequency 462.625 RX 127.3 Hz CTCSS

Channel 7 frequency 462.725 RX 136.5 Hz CTCSS

Channel 8 frequency 462.825 RX 162.2 Hz CTCSS

Channel 9 frequency 462.925 RX 025N DTS

Channel 10 frequency 463.025 RX 032N DTS

Channel 11 frequency 463.125 RX 125N DTS

Channel 12 frequency 463.225 RX 155N DTS

Channel 13 frequency 463.525 RX 331N DTS

Channel 14 frequency 450.225 RX 023N DTS

Channel 15 frequency 460.325

Channel 16 frequency 469.945 RX 203.5Hz CTCSS

Reprogramming is fairly straight forward once you have the software, cable, and driver installed. When installing the driver in Windows 7, be sure to turn off the automatic updates as the latest version does not work. Use the information at the bottom of this page for details on how to install the driver for Windows 7:

For GMRS, use the following frequencies: (use just left column for radio to radio communications.)

GMRS Frequencies

Out/Simplex Repeater input

462.550 ---467.550

462.575 ---467.575

462.600 ---467.600

462.625 ---467.625

462.650 ---467.650

462.675* --467.675*

462.700 ---467.700

462.725 ---467.725

* Nationwide emergency and road information calling. Nationally recognized coded squelch for 675 emergency repeater operation is 141.3 Hz.

I also programmed in the frequencies and CCTSS codes for my local HAM repeaters and was pleasantly surprised at how well this radio was able to operate. Using repeaters, you can greatly extend your range, but this does require at least a Technician license.

I now own 3 of these. The first one has 8 GMRS frequencies and then the last 8 are a mix of HAM and my local CERT frequencies. My other 2 are set up for my boys. The first 8 mirror mine, but the last 8 are CCTSS coded versions of the GMRS.

The drop-in charger will charge the battery on or off the radio. Charging times are about 3 hours when really drained. Be warned, if you drop the battery into the charger and the charger isn't plugged in, the radio will slowly discharge as it powers the LED on the base. Can't tell you how many times I've found the boy's chargers like that. Spare batteries are not hard to find, but compared to the cost of the radio are not cheap. Here is one site I bought a few spares from and with shipping was almost $40 for 3:Battery life is excellent. Took a trip of about 200 miles chatting from car to car and were still working strong at the end. (including the excitement when a Black Bear ran across the highway in front of us)

Sound quality is very good. The quality is at least as good as my non-digital HTs from the past and in some cases better. I'd say on-par with my Yeasu 7R. In every contact I asked, they could not believe I was working with a $30 radio.

Using a label maker and an Exacto knife, I put the boy's names on the radios right over the Beofeng label. Well protected there and it is recessed, so it looks good. Now there is no fighting over who's is who's. (^_^)

Not much else to say. The radios are very simple (A very important feature when dealing with children and non-technical people) and work well. You do need to be technical to get them programmed properly to be legal. You will also need either a GMRS license for the family, or a Technician level amateur radio license.

If you choose to buy them and just use them, understand that technically you are not operating on legal frequencies and could face fines in the 5 figure range if your operation causes a problem that requires someone to come looking for you. Stick to channels 6 and 7 if you MUST use them as factory configured.

UPDATE:

I've gone back and 'coded' the URLs so that they are not removed. Hopefully that is useful for someone. Just remove the "[" and "]" from the URL and paste it into your browser.

Kids have not damaged the radios, and one has some scuff marks where it took a tumble as he was flying down a hill on his bike. Got rained on a little with no apparent issues would not subject them to a lot of water, but was happy to see that a little rain didn't hurt it.

Battery life is impressive. They claim 8 hours at a 5-5-90 cycle and I know we used them more than 4 hours at a time with a much more active cycle than that. The kids used them off and on for a week's vacation and we never put them into the charger once.

In more open terrain (beach setting) the range is very good. The range from the end of the beach to the cottage we were staying was about 2.5 miles and the radios were fine making that distance, but there were no serious terrain features to block the signal, just light scrub and some wood single story buildings. Distance to a Ham repeater hit out to 15 miles with a transmission report of about a 3 (noisy but understandable), but that repeater is well known for good reception and sits on top of a major hill I would not expect radio to radio communication across that distance. This is comparable to other Ham HTs with short antennas at about 3 watts.

Make sure your charger is plugged in. When you drop the radio into a charger that isn't, the LED on the charger lights green, but it is draining the battery, not charging. Charging is RED until fully charged and then it turns green. If it is green when you drop it in, verify the charger is plugged in. Kids enough said.

UPDATE 2:

In the programming Software, the "Beat Shift" is the voice scrambler. Not really secure, but the average listener won't be able to understand you.

I own 12 Baofeng radios. I have equipped my hospital maintenance and security officers with these. No one wants to carry the heavy Motorols radios any more, and if they lose a Motorola or it gets damaged, you are out $$$$. These are light weight, a breeze to program, you MUST buy the cable to program. They even have some sort of voice scramble feature. These Baofeng radios do everything the big boys do at a fraction of the price. We all laughed at Hyuandai years ago. Well you get the idea. I use the UV5R for me, I like to have a screen, and scan etc. But for point to point, and for building maintenance, these are real workhorses.

Little Updatewhen searching for the softwaredo your search as a BF 480this will do it. Also if you have trouble, check your com port. Also you must hold the monitor button when turning on the radio to go into program mode. I have had this radio for couple of months and they are holding up fine.

Just received these 2 way radios today, haven't tested in distance yet but in sound they sound great, loud and clear, when you turn the radio on a female voice says radio on and what channel you are on, and when you change the channel the voice also says what channel your switching too which I really like. It even has a little built in flashlight if you need it. So far im liking the purchase and when I test it for distance if it gets the distance I want Im gonna order more.

I have spent more than 10 hours trying to program this radio with no success. My computer friend spent 3 hours before he gave up on it. Radios work good if you have no plans on changing the freq.

Power Bright PW3500-12 Power Inverter 3500 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC

Power Bright PW3500-12 Power Inverter 3500 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt ACI use this inverter for powering power tools on construction jobs. It has taken the place of an 1800 watt gas generator. Wish I made the switch years ago. This inverter easily powers large 1/2" electric drills and most any other power tools without any problem at all. Setup quick connects, also available on Amazon, to my truck battery. All the other contractors are also amazed. Never again will I use a heavy smelly generator. The unit is lightweight, easily moved to different trucks with quick connects (non included). Its a little bulky and may not readily fit in a standard pickup truck conveniently. However with the quick connects comming through the grill it can just be placed on the ground and used just like you would a portable generator, although it isn't weather proof so it would have to be protected from rain. Possibly behind the front seat. Mine is mounted in between the front seats of a Ford E-250 work van. Fits nicely there and is also used to charge all the cordless tool batteries. If all you needed was to charge cordless batteries a much smaller unit would be fine. But this 3500 will power anything you can plug into it.

I use this in my Ford transit to power a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. This is great. I was even able to run the microwave and coffee maker at the same time. The only issue is the installation. I had to run a 0 gauge cable from my battery to the back of the truck.

This was my second Power Bright PW3500 that I purchased, the first one quit after five years one day it worked then next time nothing. This next new one right out of the box the remote did not work but this was not essential just a nusance, to replace one from Bermuda would cost more than it's worth. The inverters work very well though and can provide good power on a number of projects as we use trucks in sales displays with all kinds of lights and sound playing for promoting soft drinks out in the field also we have power supply for music and lights for trucks in parades around the Island, all told I would get another one if this one lasts over five years.

I've run air compressors, table saws, and coffee machines off this. Not being a true sine wave I don't think you'd want to run any electronics on it (in fact, even the air compressor 'sounds' different, so the waveform must be significantly different).

The included remote is handy. The display shows current battery voltage OR current watt output, but you have to toggle. In this price range you'd imagine they could throw in the extra ten cent LED to show both, but its not a crucial flaw for me.

Lenmar AIDCU2 Auto Charger with High Output Dual USB for for Smartphones, iPad/Tablets, MP3 Players

Lenmar AIDCU2 Auto Charger with High Output Dual USB for for Smartphones, iPad/Tablets, MP3 Players and Other USB Powered Devices
  • High output dual USB car charger ideal for smartphones, iPad/tablets, mp3 players and other USB powered devices
  • 2.1A total output for one USB port or shared between two
  • Sleek, compact design looks great and reduces clutter around your vehicle's dashboard & console areas
  • Works with any 12V DC auto lighter socket to keep you powered and connected on the road
  • Replaceable 10 amp car fuse protects your connected devices from electrical damage

Found this today while out @ Fry's for $4.99 so I took a chance. Since my needs are minimal (occasional iPod 5G use in non-iPod integrated vehicles) I thought it might be nice to get one with dual USB ports, just in case.

After taking it out to the parking lot I recall how a number of these chargers don't always work in every car. So I plugged it into my '04 TSX 12V power port and low and behold it lite up, so far so good.

Since my car has dual 12V ports (with flip-up protective covers)and because the charger is not a flush mount (sticks out more than an inch) it appears somewhat awkward and prevents the covers from closing. Next I relocated it to the power port inside the center console storage compartment (below armrest). As soon as I did the device began to flicker. After removing and reinserting it, it failed completely.

Only after closer inspection did I notice the center pin was dislodged and fully retracted (should be spring loaded and fully extended). I grabbed my receipt, product and packaging and immediately returned it (all within 15 minutes of purchasing it). Rather then exchanging it, I decided to wait and reassess my options.

I post this as a heads up to anyone contemplating this model (also branded under other names)...

BTW, I'm not completely heartless so I gave it 2 stars instead of one primarily because of:

Dual USB ports with 2.1 Amp (max on top port)

Integral and accessible fuse

Subtle illumination

Bottom line, I don't expect much of electronics (other then work reliably for a reasonable time) but if a device fails within the first half hour... time to start over. It's also the best way I know to send a message to companies regarding inferior merchandise quality.

I really enjoyed this project right up until it broke. It's not too long, so you can fit it into a tight space. It also puts out a lot of power, nonstop.

The trouble is, if you pull it out and put it back in too many times, the shell starts to crack, and the fuse falls out. Replacement fuses are very hard to find. Eventually the tip fell out and the whole thing split apart. My wife's unit, however, is still going strong because she leaves it in.

When plugged in and turned on, it works ok. But there is a serious voltage spike when you first power this up. Apparently no filtering is used at all. Messed up my phone. So only add/remove devices AFTER it is plugged in and powered.

And that big bright blue light...what a waste of energy! This thing is BRIGHT. In the dark it lights the whole car. So even when nothing is plugged in, it's still drawing alot of power. Annoying and unnecessary.

I read a lot about other wall changers that could be purchased for under a few dollars but those had a habit of dying early on. After some research I ended up purchasing this. It works great with the Ipod Touch (3rd generation). Not only is it the touch that I use it to charge, the adapter themselves take in any usb cable so I use it for my zune (with the cable the Zune came with) and other devices that may be charged via USB connections. The car adapter is a nice bonus.

Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod (Black)

Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod
  • Compatibility: iPod classic 6G (80 GB, 120 GB); iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G; iPod touch 2G; iPhone 1G, 3G
  • Charges your iPod or iPhone while you travel
  • SmartScan automatically finds and programs the three clearest broadcast frequencies
  • SmartSound Plus technology for clear sound under real-world conditions
  • Flexible steel neck and interchangeable model-specific cradles position your iPhone or iPod perfectly

This is a great and useful product, but must be turned to European mode to reach 87.7 87.9 since for some reason Griffin thinks that they are not allowed to use these frequencies (they are).

On the FM transmitter box, push the middle button (Function) and then press and hold the "Mode" button (the right one) for approximately 10 seconds. When you let go you will see a menu for "Us" "Eu" "Ja", select the middle button, "Eu". Let the device sit for a few seconds until it goes back to the main screen, then tune your radio and the transmitter to 87.7 87.9! Now you can use the device on the frequencies that will rarely give you interference (I have the best luck in St. Louis with 87.7).

Buy Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod (Black) Now

I have owned many Griffin FM transmitters for the iPod and iPhone over the years, and a couple from their competitors. I keep coming back to Griffin for their high quality products, which when properly used provide the best sound possible over an FM transmitter (even better than most wired FM transmitters).

Several reviewers have mentioned running the Roadtrip in its "EU mode," which is excellent advice. 87.7 FM is the going to provide the clearest frequency in most locales and almost all vehicles. Other FM frequencies' reliability will vary greatly based on the stations in your area and the sensitivity of your FM antenna. My wife's Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter with SmartScan, for example, transmits flawlessly on 104.1 FM via her Subaru's head unit here in Seattle. In my Audi, only 89.1 and 89.3 seem to work with the same transmitter.

I am surprised that the product description and customer reviews fail to mention an excellent feature of this transmitter: RDS output. If your car stereo is capable of displaying RDS data (used by many radio stations to display station identification or song titles), the RoadTrip will display the artist and song name for the currently playing MP3/AAC. Not an essential feature given the easy access to the screen the RoadTrip provides, but it was a nice bonus I was not expecting.

My only gripe so far is how unreliably the RoadTrip engages with my car stereo. Sometimes, I find myself reseating the connection to my car's DC outlet over and over before the static is finally replaced by the silence of the RoadTrip transmitting on 87.7. I'm not sure if I just have a defective unit, or if my car is the problem. Besides this glitch, it works so flawlessly that I'm willing to overlook that one quirk.

Read Best Reviews of Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod (Black) Here

Over all this is a nice looking device The transmitter works well in my Honda Ridgeline, it comes in as clear as any other FM radio station.

Griffen could be a bit more careful with the form and fit. One of the buttons was too tight and I had to cut it back a bit with an exacto knife to get it to stop sticking.

The one thing this unit lacks and it is not made clear in any reviews I read was that while it is true that it pauses the music when a call comes in and plays the ring tone over your car speakers it DOES NOT play the callers voice over the speakers. What an oversite on Griffin's part! The unit is really complete, except for being able to take a call through it.

Griffin if you are listening, I have no problem paying $60+ for this unit if I could hear the caller over the speakers and use either the iphones built in mic or a mic in the RoadTrip but as it sits now I am tempted to give it back. Just an FM transmitter is not worth this much money.

Griffin's new RoadTrip for my iPhone 3G works extremely well. You have to searcha litteto find the right frequency to use, but having done so, I have very good performance on my daily commute with no interference whatsoever. The mounting is great as well. The numerous reviews on this product and the competitors are really helpful in making a decision; especially if you've tried to buy in a brick and mortar store. At least there are some opinions here. Key issues that got my attention were quality of the "arm" and functionality.

With the Griffin Unit you are getting very high quality. The connections to the Iphone is excellent and stays connected; the adjustable arm is excellent quality and stays put. With unit multiple "holders/connectors" come with the unit. Each one is specifically designed for each version of the Iphone, so you do get a perfect fit. Only draw back is none work with a case on the phone. Wish a larger version were available to hold the Iphone with a case on it.

The appearance of the unit is very good and does look like it belongs with the car; not factory installed but doesn't look like a cheap addition. Once connected this unit stays put: holds the Iphone and stays in position. You can easily work with the phone menu without removing the unit; it is very stable.

However as many reviewers have stated, if you are going to use this unit or any FM unit in a metro area there are going to be reception problems. Finding an unused frequency is a challenge. This has nothing to do with the unit; that's life in the big city. I'm in Atlanta; 87.7 works best in the City. But when you get near the large buildings, especially where construction is taking place, other personnel communication devices do come in. On the roads outside the areas of high density, unit works great.

Iphone does not like being attached to devices not sold by Apple, a few statements come up on the screen after connection; just ignore them or press cancel. I have been able to totally replace satellite radio with Internet radio. I'm sure AT&T is not happy with that; more use of the Iphone frequency. Pandora Radio works great and you do get the functionality of Pandora by signing in to your personal account and the service continues to "learn" your preferences. The like/dislike and skip functions are all available.

One aspect that I have found helpful in improving reception is that my audio system does "learn" stations; in that if reception is poor over a few minutes it will self adjust settings to improve strength. Usually within a minute or two if I have poor reception it improves very well. For those in a metro area just be ready for pops and crackles that will occur. You will not get CD or strong FM quality reception; outside metro areas reception is great.

I gave the unit 5 stars because the previous reviews seem to focus on quality, stability, and ease of functionality. The Griffin unit does not disappoint; pay the extra dollars. Have learned that a unit that "moves around" would be a major reception problem. The unit needs to be stable to maintain a dependable FM reception. This unit simply will not move, nor will the Iphone. Also it great holder for using the GPS features of the Iphone Apps. The flexibility of positioning the unit makes it very user friendly for the driver and passenger. Can easily change positions.

Just a final note, please remove this or any device like it from visible site when the car is parked. It looks very nice and expensive; a definite attraction for the opportunist car break-in types. It's really not worth a smashed window so someone can grab what looks like a really kewl electronic device. Makes for a very attractive smash and grab opportunity. This unit is easily removed and fits very nicely in a small place like a console or glove box. Please "remove and place the unit" outside of view when not in use; it really is easy and convenient.

Good luck and this unit only takes a few minutes to setup once you find a frequency. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

This solar charger is a must have for people on the go. I have used it for my cell phone, and my Nintendo DSI when I haven't had any way to charge them. I would recommend it for those that like to hike, boaters, campers or hunters. It is a great device to have in an emergency situation. I will be purchasing another to give the grandchildren for their game devices and eReaders. The best part is it is light weight, compact, and pretty darn indestructible. Great product that I will recommend to all my friends. I never leave home without it.

I bought this item about a month ago and find it very useful. I live in Los Angeles so a GPS system is very helpful finding my way around. I agree with another reviewer that the load time is a bit slow, but nothing that would cause me to have an issue with it. The maps themselves are Navtech maps and are used in the majority of preinstalled GPS systems of major car makers. There are several options with the 'advanced' mode and the basic mode offers simple navigation tools. I would recommend this to anyone considering a GPS system who doesn't want to spend over $500.

After looking into several models of Auromotive GPS, I got this unit for my wife @ Christmas. I have used it several times, and find it to be well built and reliable. The unit is easy to use, if you spend a few minutes looking at the instructions, and has a bigger screen than any other portable units, as far as I can see. Also, the windshield suction cup mount that comes with it is well-built, adheres to the glass very reliably, and is strong, without bounce or sway. The sound of the voice is decent also.

Great product. I purchased for my wife and it works very well for her.

Though the unit is a little slow to load the maps compared to models twice the price, it certainly works smoothly once loaded.

I also use the product for road trips and it is nice having the entire US preloaded into the unit. other units require plugging into a computer.

For the price/size, you can't beat it.

I spent a great deal of time researching navigation systems online before deciding on the Delphi Nav200. I began my search looking to spend between $200-$300 max. Having just moved to a new city, I decided it would serve me well in an area with confusing streets and poor sinage. I'm satisfied with my purchase. My Delphi nav system provides VERY accurate directions, and offers many features uncommon among systems at its price level. Not only does it show me exactly where I am, it tells me how far I have to go, how long it will take me to get there given current speed, and offers numerous views. Voice directions are loud and clear (volume can be adjusted). There are, however, a couple down-sides. Although the Delphi has an extensive POI database, you really do need to know the name of your destination as searching by category has proven difficult if not impossible on several occasions. The screen is large, but the many options I mentioned earlier are displayed along the sides during use making the map itself smaller. It can take several minutes to acquire satellite connection with each startup, but signal is strong and constant once acquired. Overall, I remain pleased with my purchase despite a few flaws. I think it would beat competitors in a side-by-side comparison.

I have only used it once, but I was impressed with it. The one feature that I really liked was the way that it showed the curves in the road as they were coming up. If you are traveling on a road that you don,t know it is very useful.....

Hitech - Universal Travel Charger for iPOD, iPod Mini, iPod Video (With UK, EU, Australia, US Plugs)

Hitech - Universal Travel Charger for iPOD, iPod Mini, iPod Video
  • Universal power adapter/charger for iPod, iPod mini, iPod Video
  • Will work with iPod Nano 1st generation using software version previous to 1.0.3 MAC
  • Supports universal voltage 100V-240V. Charge your iPod in any country
  • Comes with 4 changeable input plugs: British type, European type, Australian type, American type
  • With safety features: Short circuit protection, Automatic overload protection, Overheat protection

Anyone who travels Europe knows that the standard voltage converter/adapter units do not accurately step down voltage. For a hairdryer or curling iron, this is fine. However, my electric toothbrush and even my AA battery charger fried. When my daughter was to spend the summer in Spain, I bought this for a VERY reasonable price for the peace of mind. It's not worth risking frying an expensive IPod. She used it all summer without any issues. I will pass it on to my duaghter-in-law for Japan.

Maximal Power FC600 CAN LPE8 Rapid Travel Charger Canon LP-E8 for Canon T2i Digital SLR, Canon Batte

Maximal Power FC600 CAN LPE8 Rapid Travel Charger Canon LP-E8 for Canon T2i Digital SLR, Canon Battery BP-2L14, BP-2L12, 2L12H and more
  • 1 Year Warranty
  • Backed by $1 million product liability Insurance
  • Rapid Charger
  • Short circuit protection and High temperature protection

This charger works really well and was very reasonably priced. It's slightly faster than the charger that came with the camera and it has a fold out plug on the back, so there are no cords to mess with, unlike the charger that came with the camera. This also has the added advantage of having an adapter to plug into your cars electrical accessory outlet (lighter). I have used another version of this for a few years to charge my Canon camcorder batteries and have always had good, reliable results.

The contacts aren't spot on, so you have to maneuver your battery into making contact with the metal on the charger, or else it will deceivingly not charge. Otherwise, it charges just fine. A quick fix might be to put some aluminum foil around the contacts to make them bigger and easier to touch from the battery's point of view.

Works better than expected. After seeing other rapid chargers that would overheat, this did not. I was a little confused if this product would work with my lp-e8 batteries, but it works just great. Get it!

Bought this just over 18 months ago and used it successfully a few times. Was going to take it on an extended trip as my only charger, but FORTUNATELY checked it first. It had quit working. I see it has only a 1-year warranty. Just ordered a Wasabi power supply from Amazon for about the same price, it has a 3-year warranty. I have a Wasabi power supply and batteries for another camera, and the batteries work fine. I've only had the charger for a few weeks, but it's working fine and the longer warranty encouraged me to order another Wasabi.

I had lost my original charge for my Canon Tebel T2i. I was surprised that I got a wall charger as well as a car charger. So far, it has worked as promised.
