A friend of mine gave me an Amazon Gift Certificate for Christmas and I used it to buy this little Sirius radio. Though other radios have more bells and whistles I am very happy with this one.

First of all, price-wise it cannot be beat. It includes everything you need to use it in your car (mounting bracket, power cable that plugs into the car lighter, antenna, remote control). At this time there doesn't seem to be a home kit for it. That was not a deal breaker for me since I was planning to really only listen to it in the car anyway. Plus, when you joing Sirius you can listen to all the music channels online.

Though this is a simple unit, it does include some nice features. There are presets that work great. You can set the display to show the channel you are on or have it scroll to tell you the artist and title of the song that is playing.

It has a built-in transmitter that transmits over the car's FM radio on an unused channel. This has worked great for me and I think the sound is very good. I did need to change the FM channel it was transmitting to (easy to change and you can have up to five presets for this as well) once or twice but once I found a truly open station it was crystal clear. It should be noted that I live in LA which is a very crowded radio market. Still I was able to find a clear FM slot to tune the Sirius radio's transmitter to. If you are not in a major market that should not be a problem at all, and really wasn't that big of a deal for me here in LA.

I think it is a sharp little unit and very solid. I am happy with it and if you are looking for a nice, low price unit this is a great choice. I am also very happy with the Sirius service. The music channels are great and I enjoy the sports and talk radio.

First off, this thing is $30 right off the rack. It's not like you buying a Marantz here, so stay real in your expectations. I have it in my car and it works fine. I had many of the same station bleeding problems others have, but they tell you right in the packaging that just using the FM transmitter is the worst way to use it. What I think everyone who has problems with it needs is a part sold through Sirius called an FM Direct adapter. I got one at Circuit City for $20. Since I'm not too mechanically inclined, I went ahead and let Circuit City install it, too, for $59. It now works perfectly. They mounted it on the windshield of my car (where you might have a parking sticker)and it has maybe an inch or two of wiring exposed. I'm not shilling for Circuit City. Go where you like or do it yourself, but the installers there suggested this simple solution and it now works great. And yeah, okay, I paid for the install so technically it was more than 20 bucks, but you get the idea. Oh, by the way, it can be hard to read on a bright day....I'll agree with that.

Nice and small (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) and comes with everything you need to install yourself. Sound quality via the FM transmitter is decent, though far from being outstanding. The unit does get quite warm which I've heard is normal. Reception (in Los Angeles)has been excellent. Price is right as well, a welcome compromise from having to shell out well over a hundred bucks for an in-dash unit. The best part: being able to once again listen to Howard in the morning.

Great little thing can't really beat the price. Yes, on some of the units the presets are not kept when you turn it off and it reverts back to 184 when you turn it back on. Before going thru with the return & exchange hassle please try this: Unplug and put back all cables going to the unit; go in your account at the Sirius website and in the "Services" section click on your ESN. Once you are in "Service Details" click "Re-Send Activation Signal". Make sure the unit reads "Updating". When it is finished you should be able to keep your presets and the last station before turn off. It really did work for me, hopefully it will for you too :) Good luck!

I bought this with low expectations. Others had said it was hard to read, and that the FM transmitter was no good. Well, the thing works great and the FM transmitter worked like a charm in my VW, but the screen is REALLY hard to read. Blue is just not a good color to try to see during the day.. At night it is great -doesn't match the VW blue guages exactly but looks good.

The satellite radio itself and the FM transmitter sounded great. The unit does get a little hot, but I had it in a very enclosed area.

I didn't think I'd care than it was a one line display, but it really does hinder you from "channel surfing" -you have to repeatedly switch between showing CHANNEL NAME, ARTIST, and SONG or you can have it scroll.

Overall, I still like this radio best out of Sirius' lineup -it is small, fits great it my little cubby below the radio, and works well. I just wish it was easier to read during the day. Setting presets for FM, and setting your favorite stations makes it easy to still use it during the day, just realize the limitations!

MIDLAND LXT600VP3 36-CHANNEL GMRS RADIO PAIR PACK WITH DROP-IN CHARGER & RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, Mod

MIDLAND LXT600VP3 36-CHANNEL GMRS RADIO PAIR PACK WITH DROP-IN CHARGER & RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, Model#: LXT600VP3We got this Midland pack to test in the field and really like these new extreme range NOAA weather alert ,two way radios. Lots of great features , 121 privacy codes, keypad lock, water resistant, mic jack, and more. They tested out great, here in the hills and valleys of the high desert, in Central Oregon.

We use them to gain position, out predator hunting ,and when riding on our atvs.

Lots of optional accessories available for your special needs. Silent operation is great for hunting ,where a loud beep , can spoil the stalk, and you go hungry.

I give these radios a high recommendation ,for quality, features, and great range.

Pros/// 3 year warranty is great. belt clips and rechargeable batteries included. hands free operation.

Cons /// They work great and are a good value ,except if you run them over on your atv, like I did. I hope this review is entertaining ,and helpful. FISHGRILLER APPROVED

Battery Tender 081-0069-4 Alligator Clips with Black 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug

Battery Tender 081-0069-4 Alligator Clips with Black 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug
  • 18" cord adaptor
  • Plugs into all Deltran Battery Tenders
  • Convenient for hard-to-access batteries
  • Adaptor plug is compatible with most heated suits for motorcycles or snowmobiles
  • Both Alligator Clips and Ring-Terminals come with each Battery Tender

I ordered two of these and both had the color coding reversed. I had to correct it by removing the red and black plastic and re color coding with colored tape (typical China stuff). Other than that the units are fairly well made.

Item delivery was fast and the item worked great as advertised. It should have been included with the original battery tender when it was purchased. The aligator clips makes it very easy to charge whatever scooter or motorcycle I want charged. I can't understand why the original had circle ends that made you unbolt the postive and negative connections of the battery so you install them to the battery and charger. The aligator clips eliminates the need to unbolt anything by just cliping it to the end of the positive and negative connections on the motor scooters battery.

CTEK 56-261 Comfort Connect 3/8" Eyelet

CTEK 56-261 Comfort Connect 3/8' Eyelet

  • Watertight
  • For 1/4-inch eyelet

I purchased the CTek Multi U.S. 3300 Battery Charger for use on my three automobiles and riding lawn mower. I have the Ctek 56-261 Comfort Connect 3/8" Eyelet cable on my SUV and mower batteries. It is comforting to know that I can leave my mower charging all night or longer without removing the battery from the mower and it is perfectly safe. I am ordering two more cables to put in my wife's SUV and daughter's pick-up. If they need to charge their battery while I am away all they need to do is snap the connector to the charger's cable, plug in the charger then set the mode on the charger to Automobile. No worry about reverse polarity, sparks from clamps, improper grounding or clamps coming off. The 3/8" eyelets fit on the battery post clamps on all my vehicles. No need of boring out the hole to fit the bolt on the clamps. Plus, if you are away from home and need a jump the connectors can be left in place while standard jumper cables are used. Another plus, more so for the charger is it is so small you can take it with you on a trip where as a standard charger takes up too much space. This is a great system and the tech support is top notch. The only negative is the cable is somewhat short but I am sure that is by design to keep it away from moving engine parts while the vehicle is in use.

These are great accessories for the CTek chargers. I put them on my 4 wheeler and motorcycle and even truck to allow me to simply plug the charger into the plug without having to access the battery terminals to charge the batteries.

I puchased as an extra to leave attached to my battery. Works like a charm and it's nice to be able to quickly connect and charge the battery without having to unscrew the terminal posts.

The standard charger at least in 6 volt variety uses such small eyelets that you have to separately buy this. Then, this product uses such a (cheap) short lead on it that it makes the quick connection point very close to the battery itself basically. In my case plan on opening the hood or in some cases like on a Model A, lifting the floorboard and trim! This was not acceptable, I ended having to cut the wires, splice in a longer wire, solder it, heat shrink it by the time I was done I could have made the entire thing myself using the stock Ctek connector. I complained to the Mfg and the guy did not see what the problem was having to buy something to make the charger work with a classic car it was supposed to be designed for, then when you get it, the thing is so cheap the cord is too short.

The stock charger comes with similar short lead to quick disconnect, but the eyelets are designed for like tiny screws, maybe a old small motorcycle type would fit. And the metal eyelets were so cheap trying to ream them out or drill them destroyed them.

Cobra MicroTalk PR 260-2 WX VP 12-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair)

Cobra MicroTalk PR 260-2 WX VP 12-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio

  • 22 channels combined with 38 privacy codes provide 836 privacy channels

  • Unique battery-saver circuit, roger-beep, 5 call alerts, and key lock
  • Weigh 2.8 ounces, measure 2.3 x 5.9 x 1.5 inches (W x H x D), and backed by 1-year warranty

These were rated for 12miles and if you've ever done any research on these type of 2-way radios...regardless of the rating, if you're able to get a 1 mile range from them, you're a lucky few. I fully expected that disappointment. However, what I did not expect was that the rechargeable batteries that it came with were aweful. On a full charge, it barely lasted a trip to the mall on less than mild usage. Btw...there is no indicator to say if it is fully charged. I charged it for the recommended 10 hrs. Anyway...I had another pair of refurb Uniden that I got for almost nothing...that pair was just as good, if not better than this one which I paid $45 including shipping. Not a recommendation.

My needs were pretty close, about 1 mile. We were shuttling people, using 4 radios. Clarity was good, having to switch channels occassionally. Easy to use. We use for 6 hours at a time. In the future, I will carry spare disposable AA batteries if the rechargeable batteries lose charge.

2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter / Internet Music Adapter plus integrated Car Charger for the Motorola Droid X with Gomadic TipExchange

With a power hungry myTouch 4G you need to be close to a re-charging capability. I was glad to see this product because it seems to meet my needs, has the correct cables, and does not have to be mounted anywhere. The only problem is, it also needs to work.

The first one came dead on arrival (DOA). When I plugged it in, the Channel display was just dark and blank (with or without my phone plugged in). When you plug the phone in it is obvious that no charging is going on. Just to be sure, I tried plugging it into my auxiliary plug and my other car's plugs. My old T-Mobile charger works in all these outlets... I just do not use that phone anymore.

Gomadic's customer support was excellent. They sent me a replacement and I got it in two days. The only problem is that the unit has exactly the same problem as the first one. I wonder if they got a bad lot from the manufacturer. Hopefully, they will test the next one before they ship it to me.

Update: The third time was the charm. Gomatic provided yet a third device and this one worked! Sound is excellent through my car FM radio with little or no static. I do have to turn the volume on my phone up almost all the way and turn the radio volume up a little higher than I would on a normal FM Station, but the sound is excellent. Also the charger seems to quickly add a boost to the phone so even a short charge seems to help me make it through the day.

One thing potential customers should be aware of is that this unit is not intended to be a hands free device as it does not have a built in mic. You will need to use a bluetooth headset to make phone calls, but when you make a phone call the media volume mutes so your call is clear. When you finish your call the music is back...

I now give it a three but mostly because of Nomadics customer suppport.

Thanks Nomadic Customer Support.

Campbell Hausfeld RP3200 12-Volt Inflator and Worklight

Campbell Hausfeld RP3200 12-Volt Inflator and Worklight
  • One 12-volt, 150 psi inflator with worklight that's ideal for roadside emergencies
  • Provides fast, easy inflation of high-pressure items such as tires and sporting equipment
  • Conveniently operates from your car's 12-volt outlet
  • Includes 3 inflation nozzles, universal adapter, cigarette lighter plug, built-in pressure gauge, work light, and flashing hazard light
  • Weighs 3.5 pounds; 1-year limited warranty

The RP3200 inflates the tire, the automatic feature operates as advertised and the device is easy to operate.

At the same time, these observations should be noted:

The vibration that occurs when it is operating is such that the device must be held down or it will jump around.

The inflation valve goes on easily, but some force is required to remove it. In the process, some air escapes from the tire.

The inflation hose and the power cable must be folded carefully in order to store them in the compartment provided on the back of the RP3200.

I would recommend this product.

I have owned this tool for almost a year now, and have used it regularly to maintain tires at proper pressure. Easy to use, reliable, light is useful when needed.

A tad noisy if I want to find a fault with it.

Want Campbell Hausfeld RP3200 12-Volt Inflator and Worklight Discount?

It is nearly impossible these days to find an air hose at a gas station. Especially a WORKING air hose! This cheap little gadget solves that problem. I've had it for a little over 2 years, and find it indispensable. It's super-simple to use, and I love how it shuts off when your desired air-pressure has been reached, so you don't have to disconnect the air hose, check pressure, reconnect the hose, and try again...and again.

As others have mentioned:

It is noisy [but have you ever heard a quiet air compressor??];

It jitters around a bit on the ground while it's working [but I don't see that as a problem -after all, it can only go so far while the air hose is attached to your tire's valve stem];

The coupling seal is so secure that it's impossible to remove it from the valve without losing a little bit of air (so, you simply adjust for that by putting in an extra 2-5 PSI to begin with); and

You can only plug it into your car's 12V power outlets -you can't plug it into an home AC outlet.

And yes, you do need a little bit of patience (about 60-90 seconds' worth) to coil the air hose and the power cord back into the little cubby area. Hint: Start with the air hose first, then coil the power cord, "nest-like," concentrically within the air hose coil.

It's not fancy, and it's clearly not built for heavy-duty, frequent use. But when you need it, it does the trick. Just last night, upon starting my car to drive home after a grueling work day, the warning came on the dash that 2 of my tires were low in pressure. It had started to snow, the wind was whipping, and it was bone-chillingly cold. The last thing I wanted to do was drive around in search of a working air hose. Thanks to this little gem, all I had to do was pull into the comfort of my own garage and hook it up (after letting my tires cool so the pressure readings would be accurate). Fifteen minutes later, all my tires were inflated to the correct pressure, and I was snug & warm inside my home.

This $26 gadget is a little life-saver (and sanity-saver); it's a gotta-have-it tool for your trunk or garage!

My car is parked at a location without AC power so I keep this small 12V pump in the trunk. It has a compartment that stores the power cord and air hose. The power cord is long enough to reach both tires on each side of the car. The pump is reasonably quick to inflate considering it is 12V. There is a built-in pressure gauge and flash light. I highly recommend it!

Schumacher SC-300A Speedcharge Charger/Maintainer

Schumacher SC-300A Speedcharge Charger/Maintainer
  • Ideal for small motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, and lawn tractor batteries
  • Maintains small and large batteries
  • Includes a quick harness with 3 connectors
  • Provides 3-amp trickle for 12-volt batteries
  • Ideal for 12 volt batteries

I got this for the same reason anyone would want a charger/maintainer... and that is to charge a battery and keep it there. I have a classic British sports car that I rarely drive, and until I started using this charger I would return to my car to a dead battery. This charger/maintainer comes with everything you need to quickly connect and disconnect this item, in 3 different ways: eye hole connectors to permanently attach the quick connector to your battery for very easy use, large alligator type clips for temporary use on a car that you want to just charge the battery on, and for super easy use there is a plug for use in the 12volt power outlet or cigar lighter. It has power sensing, so you cant over charge, and it will maintain the proper voltage for as long as it is connected. The wires are long enough from the charger itself to stretch across any car, and the power cable is about 8 feet long. Great little charger/maintainer. I would recommend this to anyone.

Buy Schumacher SC-300A Speedcharge Charger/Maintainer Now

I love this little guy! When I store my tractor over the winter, the battery loses it's charge to the point it won't turn over. The SC-300A can be plugged in all winter to maintain its charge safely.

The good: It comes with quick release cables that attach directly to your battery so that you have a solid connection to the charger. I wouldn't use the claws for seasonal storage as they could disconnect or short. Even during the cutting season, I plug it back into the charger/maintaner to keep the battery at full charge. They include a cigarette lighter attachment for folks who need to take it on the road. I never tried it so I can't comment on how good it is.

The not-so-good: None as far as I can tell. I think Schumacher makes a good product and it's a perfect size for a shelf near your tractor or other battery equipment. Don't expect to be charging full size batteries but I'm sure it would work in an emergency if you had nothing else around.

My rating: 5-Stars you can't go wrong and the price is great along with the peace of mind buying with Amazons return policy.

The SC-300A is a gem! We own a mint pre-2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT that has the wonderful feature of U.S. Gov't approved (or perhaps dictated) day and night safety running lights that can never be turned off! Wonderful if you drive like a nut or on long trips and need a mothership of lighting others can see all the time, but not so good if you drive around town on short trips and even the best alternator can't power all those running lights, internal dome and door lights, ignition, battery, fans, bla, bla, bla. Did I mention we have a detached, unheated garage and live at 42' North latitude in a snow belt?

Enter the SC-300A.. While the documentation is poor and repetitive legal ease warnings abound, perhaps what's missing mostly is a detailed description of what the three lights on the unit represent when the thing's hooked up. It's paramount that the unit be hooked up the battery to be charged FIRST... This gives this genius a test scan of the battery condition, shorts etc. Once this is done you'll see no indication it's hooked up correctly until the charger is plugged into AC. At that point, the amber charging and green light briefly come on, then the green light stays off and the amber stays on. Depending on the condition of the battery, the amber light will stay on until the battery reaches a safe pulse charged level followed by the unit alternating to green and back to amber, then from amber back to green until the battery is fully charged. But this is also a battery maintainer, so the green and amber lights continue to alternate as long as the unit is connected to the battery and you'll quickly discover the green light remains on for some time when your close to or fully charged.

Incidentally, if you ever see the red light come on, quickly disconnect the charger at the AC end then at the battery and check your connections and battery for a short.

It took about 10 hours to fully charge a 550 CCA battery that was about 25% depleted.

It is safe to leave the charger on indefinitely as a maintenance trickle. Other high amp quick chargers can damage batteries by drying them out and often aren't smart enough to step down, shut off, or maintain a safe regulated trickle.

I also discovered that because the unit is fairly RF noisy, I could actually monitor the pulse charging over an AM radio low end 530 band while in the comfort of my warm house.

Downside of this product: Made in China
