Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black)

Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices
  • PowerBlock Dual wall charger works with AC outlets form 100V to 240V.
  • Charge 2 devices at the same time.
  • PowerJolt 12V car charger works in your vehicle's cigarette lighter or 12V accessory socket.
  • Replaceable auto fuse protects from surges.
  • Illuminated ring changes color for charging status at a glance.

Problem: The 3g iPhone drains your battery like no other. If you're on a road trip or if you use the GPS extensively, you're going to need a car charger.

What we were looking for: I've read too many horror stories of third party chargers bricking iPhones. So I wanted something reliable. I looked for items they sold at the apple store here on Amazon, as it is much cheaper here. I figured if Apple was selling them, they must be more reliable than these other cheaper alternatives that have been damaging phones.

Pros:

1. USB! I think this will be the trend for chargers. More and more chargers will be USB cords, so you won't have to get a billion tips for your different devices. You just plug in the USB cord that came with your product in the first place. This is a 5.5 V system, so both my iPhone and my Jawbone work.

2. Fuse: I like that it has a fuse. Its very reassuring after reading how many iPhones have been messed up by third party chargers.

3. Dual USB on the powerblock (AC home wall adapter not cigarettelighter). You can charge 2 usb devices at once. Note that the powerjolt (cigarette lighter adapter) only has 1 usb port. I've read that other car adapters that incorporate 2 usb ports hum annoyingly.

4. Small car adapter unit: barely sticks out.

Cons:

1. The powerblock is a bit bulky. I was planning on taking this with me on trips, but I think I'll take the iPhone charger instead and leave this one at home.

Conclusion: Great car charger for the 3g iPhone, with a fuse for assurance. The powerblock unit has 2 usb devices allowing you to charge 2 usb devices at once. Just use your usb cable, no more annoying car charger adapter tips to deal with.

I bought this for the dual wall adaptor but I incorrectly assumed the DC Car adaptor was dual as well. The car adaptor only charges one item at a time.

Overall, this is a great product, or two products. Unlike most other iPhone/iPod chargers, this requires you to provide your own USB to dock connector cable(s). But, I have several of these that I've accumulated over the years, so it's not a problem for me. Plus, I like that I can power/charge other USB devices, like my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx 2.6-Inch Mapping Handheld GPS (for use in the car) and my Jawbone Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin-Black (Jawbone II). I like how the ring around the car charger glows different colors depending on whether the iPod is charging or fully charged. This is also the first car charger I've seen with a changeable fuse, in case it's necessary. My only complaint is that Griffin could have put two USB ports in the car charger so both units could charge two devices (I have seen some other solutions that include two USB ports, like the Scosche USB12V2 Dual USB Car Charger).

Want Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black) Discount?

Griffin makes good products and the PowerDuo Charger is a good product that does what is needed. I have the 12volt plugged into the car and the dual home charger in the house. It sure is nice to be able to plug in an iPod for a charge without all the syncing that comes with charging on the Mac.

This product works for our 2g Touch and 4g Nano. Any iPod that charges over USB should work with this. At a discounted Amazon price and with the reputation of Griffin; I couldn't go wrong. Highly recommended.

I like both items. The car charger is the best. It's tiny and unassuming. The red and green light let's you know easily if the phone is charged or not. The dual charger is cool to charge more than one product. My only gripe is that it pulls out of sockets easily. but that's not a reason not to buy it all. It's small and convenient and cuts down on the bulk of multiple chragers having to be carried.

Car and Home 2 in 1 Combo Charger for the Cradlepoint PHS 300 - uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology

Car and Home 2 in 1 Combo Charger for the Cradlepoint PHS 300 - uses Gomadic TipExchange TechnologyGomadic Combo Charger with "TipExchange Technology" overheats and blinks after a few minutes of use, then the Cradlepoint PHS300 shuts off. The charger does not turn off when it overheats. I do not recommend leaving the thing plugged in unattended if you are already an unfortunate buyer. For me it worked for a few days of limited use while connected to AC power. Didn't use it often enough to realize it was defective from the git go. Total waste of $27. It cost almost as much as the Cradlepoint, too! I would not dare to try the GoMadic power adaptor in my car. Cradlepoint PHS300 works fine with original power adaptor it came with, so I know the router is good. This is my first bad experience with buying on Amazon. The return policy on the device has expired so I'm stuck with it.

I ordered 3 of these and all 3 died after a few weeks use. I asked for a replacement and the company said sure, glad to help. That was months ago and no replacement. Save your money, these things are junk!

I bought this because I thought it would be convenient to carry around a single charger for work, home, and in the car. So far it's been great. It arrived in a plain plastic bag with the correct tip. No extra points for packaging, buy hey, it's just a battery charger. I also want to point out that you can run the PHS off of the charger too.

This charger is good in that it is a 12 volt and 120 volt charger in one.

The problem is that if I use it when I am using the WiFi ( not just to charge it) it gets hot. The plastic on one side is shiny and deformed.

I realized it because I could smell it.

If I shut off the WiFi and just charge the Cradlepoint, it is fine.

I recently purchased this product from Gomadic Corp model PHS300. I bought this for my business trips as I am a frequent traveller and I usually avoid paying for hotspot at the airport and not to mention no connectivity at remote locations.

If ANYONE OF YOU READING this review want to buy this product from Gomadic Corp DONT!!!!! unless you really want it for 1-2 weeks and don't really care for your benjamins. 1-2 is the maximum life of this product. I also bought a car-travel charger once I figured that the battery life of this product doesn't last very long. Despite of minimum battery use this product failed to boot after a week hanging me out dry in the out.

VELLEMAN K7300 UNIVERSAL BATTERY CHARGER/DISCHARGER KIT

VELLEMAN K7300 UNIVERSAL BATTERY CHARGER/DISCHARGER KIT
  • charge current: from 15mA to 750mA (selectable)
  • charges both NiCd and NiMH batteries
  • usable battery voltages: 1.2V, 2.8V, 3.6V, 4.6V, 6V, 7.2V, 8.4V and 9.6V
  • quick charge in 52 minutes / normal charge in 14 hours
  • automatic discharge and charge cycle
  • dimensions: 3.4 x 3.1"
  • THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC KIT AND REQUIRES ASSEMBLY.

Bottom Line: Skip it and buy a far superior ready-made "smart charger" for half the price.

First, the charger is good for single cell NiCad batteries, because it will discharge the battery before charging, thereby overcoming the memory effect. (NiCads tend to develop reduced capacity if they are recharged before being fully discharged repeatedly.) But for a battery (2 or more cells), doing this runs the risk of one cell discharging a little before the others, in which case their discharge ends up reverse charging the early discharger, which ruins the cell and hence drops the battery voltage (by 1.2 volts for every dead cell). So this function is of limited value, applying only to single-cell NiCad batteries.

But there isn't much call for NiCad single cells anymore; they have given way to NiMH cells, which are superior for nearly all applications (and are much kinder as well) to the environment, as they don't spread toxic cadmium when tossed in the trash). Moreover, NiMH cells don't have the memory effect problem, and in fact unnecessary discharge tends to shorten their life. Only a few stores still carry NiCad cells.

So is the charger good for NiMH cells? Alas, it lacks the sophistication of off-the-shelf "smart chargers" that sell for half the price, often with 2 or 4 of the newer pre-charged NiMH cells. (The older NIMH cells self-discharged at a rate of about 1% a day, which meant that even if they topped them off at the factory, there was a good chance they would be dead by the time they ended up in your radio at home. The new ones don't have this problem.)

What is special about the smart chargers is they use a microprocessor and sensors that monitor the battery temperature and voltage in order to avoid overcharging them. Charging too fast and too long are (after letting them discharge completely), the major causes of early loss of cell capacity. The program looks for the "reverse delta" in the cell voltage (after steadily rising while charging, it briefly drops back a wee bit), which is the endpoint for healthy charging. They generally monitor the charging time as well, shutting down even without the reverse delta if it goes on too long.

The Velleman unit does use a timer, but it is the only method of stopping the charge. It is better than nothing, but cannot take into account the amount of charge actually needed; it's like going to the gas station to fill up your tank, and pumping gas for 4 minutes and 32 seconds because that's the average time it takes to fill a tank. You are likely to end up with gas on the ground or with a tank that is empty again too soon. One more thing: if the power to the charger is interrupted, the timer starts all over again.

Garmin ecoRoute HD Vehicle Diagnostics Communicator HD

Garmin ecoRoute HD Vehicle Diagnostics Communicator HD
  • Includes simple installation instructions; it only takes an average of 5 minutes.
  • Offers accurate fuel consumption data that can actually help you improve MPG.
  • Reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC), allowing you to view more than 4,000 trouble codes and reset the check engine light.

I bought this for use with my overpriced Garmin nüvi 3490LMT and it seems to be working well. I've noticed no problems with it, and the EcoRoute application seems to be working just fine. Kind of cool how it tells you how many $ worth of gas you burned on your trip whenever you shut the car off. Hopefully this thing will eventually pay for itself in gas savings, assuming I listen to it's "advice".

The little instrument dashboard screen on the GPS is kind of cool, and you can change the gauges around to display different instrumentation so you're not just looking at a replica of your instrument cluster.

People who are complaining that it updates too slowly should know that this is the fault of OBD-II and NOT the garmin hardware. The standard OBD-II protocols have data rates of 1.2kbps to 41.6kbps and most cars except for some Ford or GM cars, and some cars made after 2008, will only do 10.4kbps (that's 0.0104Mbps or 1/100th of a megabit). Ford or GM cars might do 41.6kbps, and cars no older than 2008 (when the CAN bus OBD-II standard became mandated) may do 256kbps to 500kbps. According to Garmin FAQ, the device implements all of these protocols but it's hard to say which ones actually work on which cars. On most cars I'd expect it to end up using 10.4kbps which is slower than the dialup modem I had 20 years ago. In any case, the Garmin seems to be doing pretty well given that it's limited by OBD-II which was never exactly intended for high-speed Internet connections. The other thing to keep in mind is that the more parameters the thing is "streaming", the more delay there is since more parameters = more data = more of the amazing 10.4kbps bandwidth used up.

The ecoRoute device is also not intended to allow you to reprogram the fuel map for performance tuning your car or something. It's not a general OBD-II tool or a vendor-specific register coding tool. Don't expect it to replace a "real" scanner/coder/whatever. I'm just surprised that it will actually look up engine trouble codes and let you reset them.

Installation and setup are very easy and I ran into no problems except for the fact that the little adhesive strips that it shipped with aren't sticky enough to stick to *anything*, not even smooth plastic. (I did clean off the area I was trying to adhere the thing to before hand.) I doubt they'd even stick to polished plastic. Pretty sad since they keep going on about how you're going to die if it doesn't stay attached to something away from the pedals (where it can't end up under the brake pedal etc). This is a pain for me because there's absolutely nothing under my dashboard that I can use the zip ties to tie it to. Given all their overly cautious safety warnings though, you'd think they'd ship the thing with some serious adhesive. Anyway, use the zip ties to tie it to something if you possibly can. Those are very unlikely to break. If those won't work, use Velcro Industrial Strength (though you can buy a smaller amount than that roll.)

Also make sure that it's actually possible to unplug the thing without completely removing it as a mechanic (or emissions inspector) is going to need to plug his rig into the connector at some point. They and you will be annoyed if they have to cut zip ties or rip off adhesive to completely remove the thing just to service the vehicle, and they might not reattach it fully.

My only other complaint is that the app on the GPS doesn't give you access to all of the data that the Android app does, even though it should be able to, and there's no iPhone app. (My guess is that the lack of an iPhone app is mostly Apple's fault since doing anything with Bluetooth on an iOS device is "iPhone hardware accessory development" which requires all kinds of extra contracts and stuff to get access to the needed API and documentation. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple also wants some sort of royalty for every "Made for iPhone" device sold. Very annoying.) Anyway, fixing anything missing from the GPS app is just a matter of a software update anyway, so maybe they'll eventually fix that.

Overall I'm satisfied with this for what it costs. It's not supposed to be a general diagnostic scan tool or something that can reprogram your seat adjustments using some protocol that only your car manufacturer knows and won't document for any other company. If you need to reprogram your fuel map or troubleshoot some sort of engine problem, you should get something else. But for what it's supposed to do, it seems to work just fine and though it's not super cheap, it's not ungodly expensive either.

UPDATE: I did have one problem when I unplugged the ecoRoute to reattach it more securely. After plugging it back in it wouldn't connect to the GPS, even after a reset. After I shut off bluetooth on my phone though, it started working. (The phone was paired to the handsfree junk on the GPS.) Not sure what's up with this but if you have problems then shut bluetooth off on your phone and anything else as it might cause some sort of interference during pairing.

Also, see my "customer photos" for how I attached it.

UPDATE2: On my recent 700+ mile road trip I encountered a mechanical problem and the diagnostic capabilities of this thing, meager as they are, allowed me to talk to a mechanic on the phone to determine that I could drive it in for repair instead of having to call a tow truck. I was amazed that the seemingly silly gadget I had bought was proving to be so useful for dealing with a mechanical problem. The thing probably paid for itself in that one incident by keeping me from having to pay for towing. Just being able to know what's up with your engine so easily is very likely to save you much more than this thing costs.

This is a good product, but I hope someone from Garmin reads these reviews, because there are minor (mostly software) changes that would stifle most of the complaints. Here are what the users are saying: (1) The product is very useful for reading OBD-II codes; (2) The MPG functionality suffers from too many screens to get where you want(This could be changed with updated software); (3) It should store vehicle profiles to enable swapping between vehicles (Again, the software could be updated); (4) MPG inconsistently displayed (software fix possible); (4) Some report pairing issues with Cellphones, but pairing with Garmin GPS units does not appear to be an issue. I agree with all of these conclusions.

I want to add a few comments regarding the physical size of the unit. It is a little larger than what it appears to be in the main photo. You should look at the user-submitted photos on Amazon. My car's owners' manual didn't say where the OBD-II port was (06 Chrysler minivan). It was next to the emergency brake. If you don't know where the OBD-II port is, ask on Google "Where is the OBD-II port on {your car year and make/model}", and chances are someone would have mentioned it online. In the alternative go to a car wonk forum like Edmunds Town Hall, and post your question on the message board. Do this before you buy the Ecoroute-HD to make sure you won't have a mounting issue. It is ridiculously easy to set up and get going, at least with a compatible Garmin GPS unit.

Comparative analysis: The Ecoroute HD is just a bit pricier than the Scangauge 2. The Scangauge product has a comparatively tiny display and uses (gasp) a wire to connect to the computer. In fact, all of the comparably priced OBD-II readers that I saw used a wire. There is an Android application called Torque Pro that sells for about five bucks and can be used with a variety of generic (Chinese-made) OBD-II bluetooth transmitters. As far as I can tell, these transmitters sell from $10 to $200. Do you really want to leave your Android phone stuck to your dash? There is a higher end product, Edge Products 83830 CTS Insight Monitor, Edge Products 83830 CTS Insight Monitor that costs as much as the Ecoroute HD and a Garmin GPS unit put together. Given the excellent quality of the Garmin displays, the Ecoroute HD is reasonably priced even when compared to cheaper options, and it compares even better to the high end units.

In addition to making it available separately, I think Garmin should offer this unit packaged with a GPS at a bundled price. That would take the guesswork out of figuring out whether your GPS is compatible with Ecoroute HD.

The bottom line is that if you like gadgets, if you are a hypermiler, or if you have a car that is prone to breakdowns, you'll probably like the Ecoroute HD. With some software changes, the product might find a broader audience.

Just bought a "new" (to me) car and wanted a way to check the diagnostic error codes (if there were any) as well as the general health of the engine. So far while I wish the EcoRoute HD were cheaper, it fits the bill nicely.

Installation

------------

Even thought the EcoRoute HD came with a seemingly thick manual (that I haven't read), the installation literally couldn't be easier.

1) Find your car's OBD-II port

2) Plug in the device

3) Start your car

4) Go to EcoRoute on your GPS and follow the instructions. Takes about a minute.

The Good

--------

The EcoRoute HD provides good feedback on what your engine is doing. There are many, many different (about 10) on-screen gauges to look at, some useful like the Tachometer, some not so much, like the Throttle position gauge.

The ability to read and reset the diagnostics errors could be EXTREMELY useful if you're someone who likes fixing your own car. Especially since all cars are now computerized.

Installation was a no-brainer.

The Bad

-------

1) Where to put it?

On my car (a Mercury Grand Marquis), the OBD-II port is on the right of the steering wheel, between the wheel and the center console. Unfortunately there isn't a single flat space (within the 6" reach of the cord) with which to use the provided two-sided tape to secure the EcoRoute HD itself out of the way. I had to essentially shove it behind the dash, sitting on top of the center "transmission hump". If you have a front wheel drive car, or one that doesn't have such a place to sit the device, it might get tricky keeping it out of the way.

What I don't know is whether or not shoving it behind the dash actually affects the readouts that are shown on the GPS.

2) The gauges can't be set to come up automatically.

I love my 5" display, Garmin GPS (1490LMT?) but honestly, when driving back and forth to work every day, I don't actually pay a lot of attention to the map display. I already know where I'm going and how to get there. What I would like -and again, I admittedly haven't read the 50+ page manual -is a way to set the default on my GPS to automatically display the gauges instead of having to start up the GPS, tap on "Tools", then "EcoRoute", then "gauges" every time I start the car.

Unfortunately this product failed to meet any of my needs. The truth is that there are much better products on the market for monitoring engine information. The Garmin Ecoroute HD fell way short and here's why.

Connecting to the vehicle was easy enough and getting connectivity to my Garmin 1490 was fine. Took 2 trys but it worked fine. The devices communicated with each other just fine and I noticed no interruptions. Seemed pretty good so far until I got to the gauges that I could display. Unfortunately I only got 5: Speed, RPM, Coolant Temp, Voltage, and Engine %. That's it. I promptly updated the software in hopes of at least getting a few more. Unfortunately that did absolutely nothing. I even updated the HD specific items. That was really disappointing to me because I so wanted it to work!

I decided to mess around with it for a day just to see if I wanted to really keep it even though it wasn't giving me any new real information that I wanted. I thought that the fuel mileage application could be interesting and I decided to play with it a bit. At first when I set up my vehicle profile in the system I entered approximately what my 2013 F350 6.7 gets for mileage on the highway and in the city. I drove for a bit and the data and fuel usage seemed to be fairly realistic. I then reset my vehicle profile stating that I get 100 mpg on the highway and 100 mpg in the city. Unfortunately instead of calculating my actual fuel usage via the OBDII port and the PCM information on the vehicle it used a GPS algorithm which calculates the fuel used over a distance by dividing the distance traveled by the mpg I stated that the vehicle gets. THIS IS NOT REAL TIME INFO and you don't even need the ecoroute HD for this. I think that the 1490 will do this without it. Furthermore the ecochallenge seems like a joke. If my score goes up when I'm accelerating moderately and down when I'm accelerating lightly I can't seem how this is realistic. It is simply physics at that point.

I contacted Garmin support via phone this morning to see if I was doing something wrong. They confirmed that the algorithm I described above is the methodology the unit uses to calculate your fuel usage and also confirmed that the gauges were likely all that my vehicle had available. This is not the case as the Edge Insight CTS can access much of that information direct from my vehicle. My android phone using the Garmin Mechanic app was also able to get me a few more gauges that were able to work in real time but it was not nearly enough.

The bottom line seems to be that the Ecoroute HD OBDII device is about $90 to give you a few guages that you may likely already have on your car. Not worth it if you ask me. I will be returning the ecoroute HD device. I'm disappointed that it didn't live up to my hopes. I really hoped that it would. I may keep the Nuvi 1490 for navigation purposes. I really think that Garmin should keep working on the HD as it could be a truly useful application but at this point it needs to be improved. Others have figured it out and they are much smaller companies as far as I can tell.

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt Solar Charger-Controller with Desulfator - Model# SCC180

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt Solar Charger-Controller with Desulfator - Model# SCC180
  • Temperature compensation (At-the-Battery): Yes
  • Guaranteed to never overcharge
  • Temperature compensation ensures proper charge in hot or cold environments
  • Can be used on ANY TYPE or BRAND solar panel array
  • High-frequency pulse desulfation

I already own the AC version of this Battery Minder, and I use it to keep my car batteries topped off, as well as some deep cycle batteries that I own. The Battery Minder products are very high quality, and this one is no exception. I currently have this hooked up to my 15 watt solar panel, and use it to keep my deep cycle battery topped off. It has worked flawlessly since owning it (30 days now), and keeps the battery on float charge once it is full. If comes with "bullet style terminals" on the unit, but you can easily remove them and add any kind of connection that you want. I personally use and recommend "Power pole" Connectors. They are sexless terminals that can be used for Many different types of DC electrical connections. This charge also comes with a battery temperature sensor monitor to help it better adjust the amount of power it sends to your battery. This particular model will accommodate up to 180watts of power, which translates into 15amps of power to your batteries. One last thing, if you want to get really cleaver, you can plug this unit into a 120volt AC wall outlet, and then use this to charge your batteries from the wall. To do this, simply find an old laptop computer Power Supply cord (previously used to charge your laptop from an AC wall outlet) and modify it to plug into the Battery Minder charger. Every laptop Power Supply is designed to take 120volt of AC from your wall outlet, and convert them into 12volts DC in order to charge the internal battery inside your computer. There is a little black "box" or "brick" that is incorporated with these Power Supply cords, and this is precisely what does the AC to DC conversion. Once you modify the end of the old computer Power Supply, that was designed to plug into your laptop (with a Power Pole connector or something similar), you will then be able to plug the power supply into the wall and take the 120volts of AC power and turn it into 12volts of DC power. This new 12volts of DC power will run through the battery minder, and the battery minder will make sure to regulate the amount of power being sent to your batteries. So basically, you can alter this Battery Minder to run off of Solar Panels, or your 120 volts of AC that come from your wall outlet!

I have this controller running for about 4 weeks now. In general, it is hard to impress me. This controller actually did. What I like the most about it, is the fact that I can set certain parameters that matches my setup. Also, you'll be able to check on charge current and the load current via the display. The accuracy is a different story. There are many ways of connecting the controller in regards of wiring, size of the wire used etc. If the wire gauge is not sufficient, you'll have a voltage drop across the wire. I managed to connect a 4 Gauge wire between the battery(s) and controller, since I wanted a fairly close reading. The controller seems to be off a few hundred millivolts. This is not really a problem if you have a DVM available to measure the battery and compensate for the display reading. I haven't checked the current readings, but think I am happy from what I see, even if it may be off a little. I have a set of PV's totaling 500W and even on hazy days they push between 10-15 Amps through the controller. One could expect up to 25 Amps on real sunny days and depending on charge condition of the Battery(s). So far I have seen 18 Amps on charge current in the morning after a night's run.

Another feature is the charge AH and the load AH. I have at the time of this writing about 400AH in and a little less out, meaning I saved 5.5kWH just within a few weeks. However, this is not the primary reason for the Solar setup, being independent with the system that is supplied, means a lot more to me than the savings. Also, whatever the panels deliver, does not have to come off the grid. Another nice feature is, that you can switch the load out with press of one button.

I am quite happy with the price to performance ratio.

DEWALT DC820KA 1/2" (13mm) 18V Cordless XRP Impact Wrench Kit

DEWALT DC820KA 1/2' 18V Cordless XRP Impact Wrench Kit
  • Frameless motor with replaceable brushes for extended tool durability and life
  • Compact size and lightweight design allows user to get into tight spaces when performing applications
  • 1,740 in-lbs of torque to perform a wide range of fastening applications
  • 0-2,400 rpm/0-2,700 ipm for faster application speed
  • Replaceable brushes for increased serviceability;Textured ant-slip comfort grip provides maximum comfort and control

I purchased this tool to have more power and better access to tight areas than my 1/4" impact driver that I had to put an adapter on. I am very pleased at the battery life and that it came with two, so the work can be continuous. Although it was rated at a higher torque spec than I achieve (I get about 110ft.lbs.) this is sufficient for the jobs that I do. (mostly removing my car wheels and various loosening/tighteneng bolts and nuts on forklifts) I LOVE not having to drag around an air hose (been saving a lot of gas for the boss by not leaving my air cpmpressor running) The 18V NiCad battery sticks out a liitle bit at the bottom but not enough to change the overall length. I suspect the NiMeHyd batteries would be a bit lighter and I wish the unit had three lights around the head, time delay on the light, and ideally a torqe adjuster nob. (IF THEY BUILD IT, I WILL BUY!). All in all, Very pleased with unit and especialy the price through Amazon.com

GREAT TOOL. JUST USED IT TO INSTALL 50 1/4" BOLTS AND NUTS. MADE THE JOB GO REAL FAST WITHOUT HAVING TO CRANK A RACHET WRENCH....

Want DEWALT DC820KA 1/2" (13mm) 18V Cordless XRP Impact Wrench Kit Discount?

I just bought this to work on my car. My first job was installing my winter tires. I usually use my regular wrench to loosen and tight the nuts on my wheels, and end up a little sore afterwards. This guy made it so easy and fast that I was done quick and never felt a thing. I've used air powered impact wrenches before to work on my car and I though this wouldn't come close to them, but I was wrong.

Batteries charged in an hour like advertised and the tool with the battery on doesn't weight that much. Highly recommended for all your car DIY's.

After charging the batteries the impact wrench appeared to work well as I played with it for a few minutes. But during my first real task, it worked well for only about five minutes before just stopping. When I pull the trigger, the LED would still light up, but the nothing would spin at all. I tried the other battery and I tried turning the shaft by hand to try to help 'jump-start' the wrench, but to no avail. The item is currently being returned and I'm awaiting a refund. My other dewalt worked well and I thinking this is not a frequent issue (hence the 3 rating). The motor did make an electrical smell. At first I thought it was because the motor was new, but perhaps the smell was indicating a bigger problem.

Odyssey Batteries PC1220-A Automotive/Light Truck and Van Battery

Odyssey Batteries PC1220-A Automotive/Light Truck and Van Battery
  • Faster recharge
  • Mounting flexibility
  • Vibration resistance
  • Limited 3 and 4 year full replacement warranty
  • Special Shipping Information: This item cannot be returned and has additional shipping restrictions

I've been using Odyssey batteries in my vehicles for about 2 years now. They are SO much better than the old-school lead acid dinosaurs that are still the most common automotive and marine battery type in use today.

These AGM batteries last longer, hold a stronger charge, hold their charge longer, and emit no harmful fumes. Yes, they are expensive but you get-what-you-pay-for as the saying goes.

Be mindful of the brand you purchase for any battery. For example, Optima brand batteries used to be of high quality and manufactured in the USA, however they are now made in China or Mexico, depending on the battery. I've read reviews of customers of these batteries who have found the product to be less durable and with a shorter lifespan than previous Optima batteries.

Highly recommended.

Just got this battery a few months ago, but I figured I'd post anyway as I've already noticed the difference in quality. The AGM construction is great and I immediately noticed a quicker, stronger start and MUCH smoother initial idle after I swapped out my old lead-acid one [killed by Northeast winter in one year]. Combine that with the warranty and the fact that it's U.S.-made and you've got a tremendous product. The price is definitely steep but based on everything I've researched about Odyssey and my results so far I'm glad I paid it.

This was one of the worst things I have purchased on Amazon. It did not fit the car that it was sold to fit and after we figured out we could not use it, we also could not return it. The price was also higher than what you would find at your local auto parts store.

I thought it would be easy to buy these types of things online, but really.. this one was a huge fail

Was looking for a car charger for the iPhone 4s my family just got. Wanted a unit with:

-a sleek profile

-solid construction

-matte black color, matching car interior

-good reviews

This charger does a pretty good job.

It matches our cars interior dash color of matte black. Good star count with equally good reviews. Compared to other chargers on amazon it has one of the sleeker profiles, not sticking out of the 12-volt socket an inch or more like some on amazon.

Unfortunately, it does not meet flush with the socket and dash. There is about a centimeter raise of the unit above the dash which I've caught my lanyard on and actually Pulled the unit out, which is not to difficult. With little force it pulls out of the socket.

Beside the slight issue of the unit pulling out and not flush, it works perfectly. I would recommend the unit to anyone who wants a solid low profile car charger.

This charges any device with a USB connector (which needs to be purchased separately), not just the iPhone 5.

I've been using it for the iPhone 5, and so far so good. While I drive to or back from work, it tops up my phone. If you have an iPhone 5, you know that's a big deal, because the battery life is...not good.

It doesn't protrude from the cigarette lighter at all. It's a flush mount. I like that. So if you're not using the cigarette lighter for anything else, you don't have to remove it. It doesn't get in the way of anything.

I like the color. It makes it easy to find. I don't know how long it takes to fully charge an iPhone, but I'm happy with it.

So far so good.

I find this product extremely convenient and portable for the person who's always on the go. It doesn't actually give your phone a full charge of 100% but it will do about 50% if you were in a jam which is perfect. For the price and portability, I highly recommend the traveler to have one of these devices.
