Good radio for the price. I would give it a 5,,, but the software needs a little more work. But nothing major. The rubber duck it comes with kind of sucks tho.
Plastic case: A+
Battery life: A
Transmit and receive: B
Firmware: B
BTW,,, The seller is getting a 5!
Thanks for the fast shipping!!!!My first radio. I got it with the programming cable and downloaded CHIRP to program the radio. With out that, I've heard programming it by hand is difficult. But I haven't needed to attempt that yet.
The radio is excellent in quality, feel, sound, and function. I've had it for a few weeks and I'm still learning more and more things that it can do. The dual scan function is a great feature.
The battery life is phenomenal! Follow the instructions on the first charge, as well as the subsequent 3-5 charges, and you will be very pleased with its impressive battery life. I can monitor stations virtually non-stop for three days or so, listening to conversations as they come up on the local repeaters. I have the battery save function set to 1:4, which is recommended to have a balance between battery duration and listening sensitivity. I have not yet talked on this radio to measure the battery life when receiving and transmitting, but I would assume it will still be impressive, although shorter than when only receiving (which is to be expected).
Overall, you can't beat this price for the quality, functions, and abilities of this radio.
Motorola T215 Bluetooth Portable Car Speaker (Black)[Retail Packaging]
Buy Motorola T215 Bluetooth Portable Car Speaker (Black)[Retail Packaging] Now
This speakerphone does not quite perform to my expectations. Here's why:1. It has a built-in feature that it "automatically powers down when you leave the car". This is false advertisement by Motorola. It does not power down when you step out of the car and shut the door close. Rather, it goes to standby mode only when you walk away from the car beyond the Bluetooth range (at least 10-20 yards or so). It is a fine feature if you leave your car on the street or on a parking lot by a shopping mall. However, when I park the car in my built-in garage at home, the phone remains in the Bluetooth range and connected to the speakerphone inside the car as long as the telephone is pretty much anywhere in the house kitchen, living room, home office... All calls on cell phone at home continue to be routed to the speakerphone in the garage unless I physically turn off the hands-free device, which is very awkward to do because the power switch is a tiny slider, or disable Bluetooth on the phone (but then what is the point of auto-off feature?).
2. Supposedly, the device should go into standby mode some time after it looses connection with the telephone (this is done to preserve the battery) and wake up automatically when telephone gets into the range again. In my experience, this feature does not work. As long as T215 stays "awake" (perhaps some 10-20 mins), it indeed reconnects. However, once it goes into standby, in my experience it never connects back on its own, does not respond to any button pressings, and the only way to get connected again is to use the tiny power switch to turn it off and then on again.
3. When your telephone rings, T215 does not duplicate the ring. It remains perfectly silent until you press the answer button. What it means is that if you hear your telephone ring or vibrate, you can answer. If you telephone is in a purse or deep in your pocket and you do not hear it ringing, T215 will NOT alert you about incoming call in any way. This is the most frustrating. I can live with the tiny power switch, but I expect that my bluetooth device lets me know that there is an incoming call!
4. The claim that it has a "powerful 2 watt speaker" is also misleading. I am sure Motorola has found a way to prove that the tiny speaker which they put in can withstand 2 watts of power perhaps for a millisecond, but sound volume in operation is nothing even remotely close to what one would expect from a 2 watt speaker. I found that even at max setting the volume was on the low side for noisy driving conditions.
5. Power switch which just has to be used with this device is so tiny that it is not convenient to use. Essentially, you have to slide it almost with your fingernail.
6 The device has 4 buttons which are labelled by imprinting in silver color on silver background. While it it not hard to memorize what they mean and layout is logical (answer is on the right), the labels on buttons are hard to see if you forget what they are.
7. While not critical, the unit neither announces nor displays the caller ID.
To be fair, there are several pros as well:
1. Noise cancellation seems to be working well. The sound quality is good. People on the other side of the line tell me that they can hear me loud and clear.
2. Visor clip works well and keeps the device steady.
3. Charger is micro-USB and can double up as a charger for at least some cell phones.
4. The device can connect to up to six different phones. This benefitial feature has a built-in drawback: if two or more family members with paired phones are in the car, the device does not announce which phone it has chosen to connect to, and there is no means to switch between the available and paired phones to connect to the driver's phone. It does not appear that it can connect to several phones simultaneously.
I initially rated this device one star and strongly recommended against it. However, after I read other reviews trying to figure out what works better, it turned out that there is not a single speakerphone that does everything right. Many other speakerphones, including Jabra, share the same issue and many have their own. So I guess, it is just as good or as bad as anything else on the market.

This speakerphone was recommended to me by my uncle and cousin. My cousin wears hearing aids and needed something like it. I was impressed with the sound quality and ordered one for myself and couldn't be more pleased. Unlike Jason, I can hear the phone ring loud and clear. Maybe he needs to turn up the volume on his cellphone. I have ringtones set for different people and that's how it comes through on the speakerphone unlike my Motorola earpiece. Can't recommend this product anymore highly!Want Motorola T215 Bluetooth Portable Car Speaker (Black)[Retail Packaging] Discount?
I own 3 different types of bluetooth speakers but this is unquestionably the best of the three. Some give it fewer stars because they're comparing it to bluetooth speakers that are extremely more costly. I do my evaluation based on the cost and effectiveness. But honestly, even when compared to more expensive speakers it compares fairly well. My car is very noisy inside and yet callers still here me fine, which is amazing to me. I also here just fine. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a great buy!IOTA Engineering IQ4 Smart Charger

2 ADD-ON Solar Charging Panel Extensions for ReVIVE Series Solar ReStore XL External Backup Battery
as long as they don't separate, they work great. I would say they are worth buying one or two, but just keep in mind treat them as if they are faberge' eggs....Pros:
1) Simple
2) Works
3) Drastically improved charging time
4) Enable getting full 4 bars on the XL on only solar
5) Tiny LED indicator
Cons:
1) Price
2) Should be included with the XL
The ReStore XL claims to full charge from empty in 11 hours but I was never able to get it to 4 bars even after leaving it in full sunlight for at least 8 hours a day for 4 days. I plan to use this on my bike touring trip so I decided I needed to get the extra panels. So far they work wonders on the XL. I was able to full charge from 1 bar to 4 bars in about 3.5 hours of sunlight. I also like the testing button as well as the tiny LED that indicates when the panels are putting out power. It would flicker when place in the sun.
Installation was easy and because of the way it is designed, it folds nicely into a compact case for easy storage.
I highly recommend this if you have the XL and having trouble getting to 4 bars on the panels itself.I got the 2 add on pack for my ReStore XL. I spent a day up in Lambeau Field with my son, and kept having to fire up the car once in a while to recharge things (2 ipads, 2 iphones) during the tailgating. I wanted more options, so started looking around Amazon, and went with the XL.
These were a good price to get three times the speed on recharging when I'm out and about, and they hook up really easily. Spring loaded hooks hold them to each other, and it comes with the piece to connect them to the XL, although the XL came with one as well.
Checking the connections is easy, just get it in sunlight and start charging, and there's a test button to press on the adapter that goes between the charger and these panels, and it turns a little light on each panel on when they've got a connection.
My problem was the build quality. The plastic is very fragile one of them came already cracked where the metal hook would slip in, so I just ended up putting that one on the "outside" where nothing would have to hook up to it. But that means I need to be careful when using them any other cracks, and I won't be able to use at least one of them.
Charging time has improved drastically, so while I haven't done any timed tests with and without, it was definitely worth it for me.I bought this charger and the two solar panel add-on pack. The connection between the main charger and solar add on panels is so pathetically poor it will not make electrical contact.
this item is big. It ls about 4 times the size of my 7000 mah (Non-solar) new trent battery pack (without the add-on panels too). too big to carry to be of any use to me.
unfortunately since i discarded the packaging, I'm told I can't return it now. i would have rather lit my money on fire, at least i'd see some cool flames.
maybe i got a defect but i don't think so. this technology is interesting but it just isn't ready for mainstream.
if you're brave enough to try it, i beg you: save your packaging to return this when you experience your inevitable disappointment.
EDIT 11/6: After posting this review I got a very nice email from Accesory Genie, they took the product back and refunded my money. Still one star for the product but 5 stars for Accessory Genie for stepping up and makign this right for me! I would buy from them again.Great add on to charger increases charging capacity ,be sure to remove plastic covering before using!
so far no problems with broken clips ,be careful when attaching!

Interestingly, I bought a direct connect via tape player type unit as well which is theoretically suppossed to deliver better sound quality. However, I found this was not the case at all. The Transpod does a much better job.
My unit also came with an extension bar so it could be mounted higher. This gets it up away from the ashtray. However, the criticisms about getting it to a place where it is safe to operate while driving is a real issue. It's not a big deal for me because I could make changes at lights or before I set out to drive somewhere. For others this may be a more serious problem, but really it isn't a bigger deal than fumbling with a cell phone while driving.
In order for this product to work properly, you need a very clean FM station that is not broadcasting. This is usually not a problem at the extreme ends of the FM broadcasting band in most locations. If this is a problem in your area, you may get static even on a fairly clean channel. I live in the Bay Area and I was able to find several useable channels.
I also think the design is well thought out in terms of travelling and needing to change channels. The device also you to set a number of alternate broadcasting frequencies as presets. This gives you the ability to change your channels easily while commuting. It is also very easy to change channels directly and the display is large and attractive.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product. I'm a musician and pretty fussy about sound. I'm completely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

I forked over the not insubstantial sum of money for the Transpod with intense skepticism. Having purchased, and been extremely disappointed by, two other iPod FM transmitters (Griffin iTrip & XtremeMac AirPlay), I was not expecting much from DLO. However, based on the recommendation of cNet and other generally good reviews on the web, I decided to take a chance. Two weeks in and I haven't been disappointed. The Transpod seems to have a much stronger signal than my prior transmitters and I rarely hear any static or have trouble finding a strong frequency. Since finding the best frequency for my area (88.9 in Washington, DC), I have never had to change the setting. And the cradle is quite convenient for operating the iPod and is quite stable. (Some of this will depend on the location of your power jack, however).
Obviously, as with all FM transmitters, the sound quality is less than what you would expect from a casette adapter or, even better, direct wiring to an AUX jack. For me, the reduction in sound quality is most apparent in the bass and for tracks ripped from my CDs (songs bought on iTunes tend to sound great). Even with the reduction in sound quality, the sound of the Transpod is miles ahead of what I experienced with my other transmitters.
All in all, I'm pleased with my purchase.

Do not believe what anybody tells you about FM Transmitters (except me of course). This product works like a charm. You might hear people say that FM Transmitters don't work or that the sound quality is horrible, don't listen. It works great on the first channel (at least in central Jersey). The sound quality is fine and it is incredibly easy to use. It really fits in any car too. In my car I have a unique situation. The ciggaret lighter is jammed in a small corner right next to the gearshift. I thought there was no chance on earth that it would fit. I couln't have been more wrong. The extendable arm really dose the trick. It fits fine and doesn't even go near the gearshift. So don't worry about this product not fitting in your car, which is another thing people might tell you. This really is the perfect solution for listening to your iPod in the car. Put all of your worries aside and get it.Want DLO TransPod All-in-One Car Solution for iPod (Black) Discount?
I have 3 of the older, white Transpod units. I purchased this one to better match my black video iPod. I was very pleased with the quality of my older Transpod units and have even given several as gifts. Honestly this one sucks. For my taste it is unusable. Maybe it would be passable for rap music, but for instrumentals or music other than gangster type, the music is not clear. It is not static or interferance, and I tried all frequency ranges. The quality of the output signal is terrible. I tried my old one again, and while it is not as pretty, it works great. Unfortunately I cannot return it because I threw away the packaging not expecting it to be junk. If you purchase one of these you will be very disappointed with the quality of the sound. If you can find one of the older Transpod units for earlier iPods you will be much better off. This was my second DLO transpod. I had an older white one that I bought used. I figured I would "upgrade" to this one since my iPod and my car's interior are black. overall the thing performed similarly to my previous one, but with a few little changes. For one the output of this unit is much lower than its older counterparts. That normally doesn't matter if you choose a good empty frequency, but as you start traveling you notice interference much more than you would expect.
Next, I can't turn it up any where near the volume I used to be able to on the older one without getting hissing and static. It seems that the decreased level on the output also increased the amount of electronic noise when using it.
Last, the most annoying part of this whole product, is that it turns off the radio transmitter after a period of no use. I have paused my iPod to take a phone call only to have very loud (since the level is so low on it you have to make up for it with stereo volume) static and sometimes radio stations coming through. Very embarrassing. Or when you stop your car and then come back, as soon as the radio turns on you are met with the same very loud noise.
Since my car doesn't leave me many options for stereo replacement, this is the best product for my specific situation, though I may try and get that old one back from my friend...maybe an "upgrade" to a newer one will settle the deal.

These are the new breed of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. Now you can use them for your TV remotes, clocks and other devices where you need longer shelf lives. One of the reasons why NiMh batteries have become so popular was the proliferation of digital cameras. But for the casual shooters who sometimes leave there batteries in their cameras for weeks and pick it up for another special occasion, they often found it as a surprise that their batteries are depleted. Not with these new type of batteries.Pros:
-Low discharge. Ordinary NiMh batteries discharges even just sitting on the shelf.
Works with your existing NiMh battery chargers.
-Conventional size and dimension. I had other batteries that I have to use a screwdriver to remove from my camera because it is fatter.
-Cheapest price as compared to comparables (Eneloops, Duracell)
Cons:
More expensive than ordinary NiMh

First time I've owned rechargeable batteries at home without having to chuck after 1 year; probably because one charge lasts 4 months in my wireless keyboards, mice and WII controllers with heavy use. Hybrid technology allows for a longer shelf life which seems to help; I keep a backup set of 8 for when the other set of 8 drains and no problems using set of batteries I charged 4 months ago. Wish they were v1.5 instead of v1.2 but has really made no difference for me...also no problems with low end digital camera use...I believe in lithium for higher end digital cameras. Can't go wrong with these. Some people tend to recharge without draining or discharging first but I haven't tried this abuse to see results. Also used in Rayovac recharger which has gotten terrible reviews; despite that I didn't have any problems with Rayovac charger I purchased the highly recommended Sanyo eneloop recharger at my office to recharge these same batteries and test out.Want RAYO4PK AAA RCH Battery Discount?
I have bought both Eneloop and Rayovac Hybrids and so far, I like them both. Rayovac Hybrids hold their charge after I charge them so that I can store them away in a drawer; and when I can take them out, they are ready to go. They also last longer than standard rechargeables in my electronic equipment. With the Hybrids, I am not forever recharging.Eneloop or Rayovac Hybrid? I haven't seen a difference. I just pick the less expensive one.Great batteries. With a toddler in the house, I've bought a lot of these. My charger/tester claims 1,950-2,050 mAh on each one and they don't seem to lose charge quickly on the shelf. They arrived already at about 80% charge. Out of over 20 purchased, I have only one bad cel (haven't applied for warranty hardly worth the trouble.)

HQRP 6W Mono-crystalline Flexible Solar Panel 6 Watt Power 12V DC Battery Charger w/ 4 Stainless Gro
I use this panel primarily to run small 12 volt fans and charge up small batteries.....for that purpose it's a great panel. If you need this panel to charge your car sized battery, multiple panels or a single larger one will be necessary. The panel comes with around 22 inches of cable, so you will need to provide additional cable if your running the power into your house or garage. I found no problem just hooking up some alligator clips, since I Primarily use the panel for outdoors.
I picked this panel because of it's small size, flexibility of 30 degrees, price and light 11 ounce weight. It can be mounted to your backpack or to a tree for camping and other outdoor uses. It come with 4 metal grommets and some adhesive backed Velcro for permanent or temporary mounting to a roof of some other type of structure. I myself just loosely mount it on my deck, bu propping it against a flower pot (explains why mine got beat up a little....totally my fault). The panel puts out around 20 volts open circuit at around 350-400 milliamps. This is right in line with what a new 6 watt panel should put out. After a month of use, I am still getting similar readings from the panel.
As for charging times, that will depend on what you are using the panel with. I use mine with small jump starter battery packs up to 10 amp hours. It has no problem charging them in about a day of good sunlight. I will note that my power packs come with regulators built in, so no charge controller was necessary. If you are charging a 12 volt battery directly, you will need a charge controller (A $20 device). I also like to run a small 12 volt auto fan from the panel. The fan is rated for 7 watts, but the panel is close enough to run the fan at nearly full power in good sunlight.
One thing about this panel is that it won't be as long lasting as a standard fixed frame and glass panel. It's made out of a thin aluminum backing, laminated plastic front cover and is flexible. The expected life of it if left out 24/7 is 3 years. Some people have gotten 10 years out of similar panels, but compared to the fixed frames, which last 25 years this one is not as durable. I still like this panel for its light weight and small price. I would definitely recommend this to someone who needs solar for hiking or other outdoors stuff.

Charger runs great.
Charges the battery great.(use must watch because charger doesnt shut its self off autatically) like the smart chargers do.
BUT heres the best thing. This charger packs as much punch as some of those huge up right chargers with wheels. Can you imagine carting around one of those camping?!

My BTD144Z only has 1,420 in.lbs (about 118 ft.lbs) of torque compared with this model BTW251Z which is supposed to deliver 170 ft.lbs. However, the BTW251Z would not easily remove my lugnuts which were freshly torqued to 80 ft.lbs, while my BTD144Z easily removed them. To do this test, I put a 1/4" to 1/2" adapter on my BTD144Z impact driver and then a 1/2 drive impact socket could be used on it. The BTW251Z will remove the lugnuts, but it takes about twice as long (or longer). I expected it to be the other way around where my BTD144Z should take longer because it has less torque ratings.
Next test I did was to see if the BTW251Z can remove lugnuts torqued to 150 ft.lbs (by the way, I always use my torque wrench to torque the lugnuts so I know exactly how tight they are). I didn't expect my BTD144Z to be able to do it because it only has 118 ft.lbs rating but the BTW251Z obviously should be able to do so. The results: the BTD144Z was STILL able to remove the 150 ft.lb torqued lugnut (that in itself was amazing given the said torque rating would make me assume it was not supposed to be able to handle it). The BTW251Z could also do it. The difference? The BTW251Z would have to hammer on the lugnut for a few seconds before the lugnut finally came off. My BTD144Z removed it maybe about half the time or better.
But again, I don't know if I simply got a defective tool and maybe others out there don't notice the same performance issue I found. I expected the BTW251Z to easily remove the nuts compared with my BTD144Z, but that just wasn't the case. The only thing I have to say is it's better to use an impact gun with the built-in 1/2 anvil rather than using the 1/4" to 1/2" adapter like I did on my BTD144Z because I can feel a lot more vibration on the BTD144Z as it pulls off the lugnuts. I don't think it's good for the tool's longevity. I will have to say, the BTW251Z has a more solid feel when removing lugnuts off as there is much less vibration, so I know the tool is better fit for such applications. Also, there is no complaints about the build quality as it feels and looks exceptional. However, I will probably stick to screws and lagbolts for the BTD144Z and find another solution for my lugnuts as this BTW251Z was no improvement to what I already have.Important note: a fresh battery makes a big difference!
I wanted to try out my new tool the moment it arrived, so I pulled the battery out of my hammer-drill, slapped it in and tried to remove a lug nut (that was tightened by Sears tire dept using air tools.) As it hammered for several seconds I thought what the hell?
Then I replaced the battery with one fresh off the charger, tried again and bam, it was off the lug and spinning freely faster than I could think about it. I went all the way around the car and effortlessly took 2 nuts off of each tire.
The moral to the story is, battery matters! Just because the tool will still turn doesn't mean you'll get max torque. If it has difficulty with a fastener, replace the battery, it could change things substantially.
As for side-by-side tests against lesser-rated Makita impact tools, those can be considered valid *only* if the same battery was used in both tools, otherwise there is no way to know whether an equal amount of power was provided for each tool.
In short, this is a very impressive tool, it's small and light enough to use in a lot of places, and every bit as powerful as Makita claims, with a fresh battery.Very powerful, easily removes 100 lb-ft torqued lugnuts. Also, very compact. Another super product from Makita.I am extremely happy with this impact wrench. I searched for a while to find an impact wrench that is reliable and quality product and at the same time provides enough power to loosen the lug nuts. Most of the impact wrenches I found in the market are too heavy and run out of battery very quickly. However, this one holds the battery for a long time. Unlike most of Impact wrenches which are made in China, this impact wrench was made in JAPAN.A little too noisy, but practical. The new Li Ion battery is interchangeable with other Makita tools I own. Big advantage!
