The Kindle Fire comes with a charger that has a DC output of 5V, 1.8A. Many of the third-party chargers that people have substituted as backup do not have the needed 1.8A (Amps) necessary to charge the device. Simply put, you'll find your Kindle Fire isn't functioning when you want or need it to do so. The direction sheet states that this unit will shut down if you try to charge devices that consume too much power, and if that happens, they suggest that you try charging each device independently. I observed no problems charging a number of different devices simultaneously with the Kindle Fire, so you'll have to determine how that works in your individual case. There is no power indicator LED so you'll have to check the charge indicator lights on the individual devices. A red power indicator LED is found on the AmazonBasics Wall Charger with USB Outlet (2.1 Amp Output), but that one has only a single USB port, though it has a convenient swing-away 2-prong plug.

So far I've successfully used this RCA 2-outlet USB portable charger simultaneously with the following devices, and all combinations of two:

Be aware that this USB charger comes with no USB cable, which you will need. The Kindle Fire and the other devices listed above require a USB 2.0 A Male to Micro B male cable, and below is a list of ones that I've used with the devices listed above. Some are higher in price than others, but each of these will work with this charger:

Summary:

Other than the minor irritation of there being no power LED on this USB charger, it's a good product, and is well constructed. I also have the AmazonBasics Wall Charger noted above, and both of these are excellent devices with two different ways of approaching USB charging. Just remember that you need a USB 2.0 A-male to Micro-B cable if that's the one that fits your needs. I'm knocking off half a point because of no power LED on this RCA Compact 2 Outlet USB Portable Charger, but will round it up since there are no half stars here. It's a highly recommended 4.5-star device that does its job, and does it well.

All those cables, chargers, supplies to take when traveling. And those hotel room plugs are usually never enough or inconvenient to use.

This little gizmo is small and can charge two devices from the same outlet. Unfortunately it has a three prong (grounded) plug. Good luck finding a three prong jack on a table lamp jack. But when you do, this has the ability to charge any of your devices. One of the USB slots is labeled 2.1, so that is enough for an iPad, Kindle Fire, pretty much anything. Lots more power than hooking a USB cable to your laptop.

While I wish it were a two prong device, it is small, easy to use, simple to throw in a bag and not fragile. Just be careful you don't lose the cap.

The portable USB charger is about the size of a small candle or medium sized pencil sharpener, the USB plastic casing measuring 1.5 inches tall (not including the prongs) and about 1.25 in diameter. The included protective cap covers the USB plug's 3-prongs to prevent bending. There are no lights on this charger which I'm glad for since when on the go, I usually charge my devices at night in the same room I'm sleeping in and I prefer no extra lights to interfere with my sleep. This charger comes with a 12-month limited warranty.

I liked that the USB slot for the iPad is clearly marked in a bright green outline with 2.1 AMP notation so there is no mistaking which USB slot to plug it into.

I would definitely recommend this portable USB charger, especially at the low price of this one.

I have several other USB wall chargers at home. Used to be hard to find one, but now with all the smart phones out it seems like they collect around here like coat hangers. However, this one is quite unique to my collection since it has two USB ports.

The charger is slightly larger than some others I've had, but then again that's understandable because of two ports. It's important to note that they ARE NOT equal ports. Both are USB A female slots, the generic connection nearly every computer has, but they have different power outputs. One is a 2.1 amp port and the other is only a 1 amp port. For a device that needs more power, the 2.1 amp is a necessity. For a device that requires less, but can adapt to greater power being available, this port acts as a rapid charger. I didn't notice that much time saved on charging my devices, but maybe a little bit of a boost.

This is very important. If you have a cable in BOTH ports, then BOTH ports will only output 1 amp. The directions are very clear, if you have something like an iPad and your phone plugged in and it's not charging right, take one out and charge the devices one at a time. It's the same as a battery charger taking longer to charge 4 batteries than 2. The device's plug is a 3 prong grounded plug that is accessed by removing the cap on the bottom. You'd need an adapter if your power strip doesn't take 3 prongs.

What keeps me from giving it my top recommendation is that it's big enough you'll probably store it in your checked luggage, but while it's got a cap for the bottom, the top is fully exposed. If you have it bouncing around in your luggage and there's something sharp there's an admittedly small chance that something could stick into the USB ports and damage them. It also makes it susceptible to a shampoo leak which could get in or just dust and crud collecting in there if you have it sitting horizontally on a power strip. The cap is also not attached to anything, making losing it a possibility.

Still, for the price being charged, the quality of the construction, and the benefit two ports gives you, I really have no reservations in saying this is a very good buy.

iPad users are well aware that it can be a challenge to find a charger that properly chargers iPads at full speed. Many iPod/iPhone chargers list iPad also, but charge them at a snails pace because they are not 10watts. This one specifically advertised 10w and was very cheap, so I decided to give it a try.

I have used it extensively and can attest that this does indeed charge iPads at full speed. While it is extremely inexpensive, the only thing "cheap" about it is the plain-wrap packaging -which is jut fine by me. The manufacturing quality strikes me as just fine.

A previous reviewer mentioned that his device did not come with the CE logo as shown on the image; however, mine did in fact have this logo just as shown.

I highly recommend this for iPad users. I have used my first one for several months and have since ordered two more. If they ever fail me, I will update the review accordingly.

Roadpro 12V Hot Pot, 20 oz.

I bought this hot pot, along with a 4-pack of Melitta Ready, Set Joe kits, for a road trip during which stopping for coffee, tea and hot chocolate was not an option. My executive summary of the product is that it works well (and, for those wondering about product longevity, still works even after multiple uses) and that it can boil water. We're very happy with it.

Read on to find out why I give the product 4 stars instead of 5.

The product description could do a better job of managing customer expectations. While this hot pot will boil water, it does take 35 minutes or so to bring a full 20 ounces of it to a boil. This isn't due to any defect in the product's design. It has everything to do with the fact that a car's 12-volt, direct current electrical system isn't made for high-wattage appliances. My minivan can supply up to 120W per outlet, i.e., up to 10A at 12VDC, which is not very much, and I assume this is fairly standard. In contrast, conventional hot pots draw 3-5 times as much power from household current, which is why they boil water faster.

Other than that, my few gripes about this hot pot are:

1. It comes with a mounting bracket, but no instructions that might give an inkling on how one might use it to attach the hot pot to anything on the inside of your vehicle. We ended up discarding the bracket and placing the hot pot on our center console, which is flat, as well as several other flat surfaces we created. But this requires somebody to watch the hot pot while the vehicle is in motion.

2. The lid and removable drinking cup sit on top of the pot, but don't snap or screw on. So this hot pot is NOT spillproof. See #1 above, and understand that if it tips over while it's in use, somebody might get hurt.

3. The exterior of the pot gets quite hot to the touch during use (although the handle stays nice and cool), so trying to hold it to prevent it from spilling is a bad idea.

4. The inside of the pot quickly builds up scaling from the minerals left behind when water evaporates. There's no way to reach in there with any kind of a brush to clean that out, and the interior surfaces would probably be damaged by such a brush anyway. I recommend filling the pot with white vinegar and soaking it for an hour or so after every trip to keep the scaling under control.

5. Despite what the product description says, don't even think of making soup, hot chocolate or any other prepared food in this hot pot. You will never be able to get the interior clean again if you do. Stick with instant drink and soup mixes, use a mug or bowl and pour the boiling water from the pot into your mug or bowl in order to make these foods.

6. There's no spout, and it's difficult to pour without spilling, so do be careful.

To help put the 20-ounce capacity into perspective:

1 standard mug holds about 10 ounces of liquid.

A typical travel mug holds 12-14 ounces.

A normal size disposable bowl holds 12 ounces.

A large size disposable bowl holds 20 ounces.

A normal size packet of hot chocolate requires 6 ounces of water and gives you about 8 ounces of hot chocolate.

As annoying as these shortcomings may sound, they're minor compared with the comfort and convenience of being able to have real, high-quality coffee (that's what the Ready, Set, Joe kits were for!), tea, cocoa and soup while traveling in places where service stations are few and far between or just nonexistent.

This unit works far better than the Max Burton version. The hardwired plug prevents the unit from shorting out. A cup of water almost boils in about 5 minutes. Would be nice if it were sealable like a thermos, and helpful if the measurements on the side were in cups as well as milliliters. about 250 milliliters to a cup. And like my Max Burton review, Nothing but water in these things. They say soups work in these things but even the protein in milk will burn on the heating elements. ONLY WATER! so instant add water drinks, oatmeal, ramen noodles, mashed potatoes.

I purchased this to use in an RV while boondocking. I have a solar system installed in my RV, and use a 12 volt system, so I needed something to boil water or to at least get water hot enough to make coffee. Well, this hot pot does the job! It definitely boils water with no problem. It takes a while if you have it to the full mark, but that's not a problem for me, as I'm just happy that it works and I don't have to use my propane stove and can now s ave money by using this 12 volt hot pot on power generated by the sun. Works perfect!

UPDATE: When it worked it worked great, but for some reason it stopped heating, but the light still works. I have since requested a replacement, and will return the defective one. I will update in a few months to let you guys know if the new one is still working.

UPDATE #2: I received the replacement unit, and it works fine, but I truly believe the first one stopped working because I left it on after it reached the boiling point, which I guess you need to unplug it at that point. I changed my 5 star rating to a 3 star because you have to really watch this pot or set a timer to make certain it doesn't overheat.

UPDATE #3: Its been 9 months since I've had the replacement unit, and it is still holding on. I heat it up until the boiling point and turn it off. I use the hot water for instant coffee, French press and the mellita drip cones, and all versions do fine with this Hot Pot. I love the fact I don't have to use my propane to heat up water over a stove. This pot has worked wonders for me, but as I had mentioned before.....just don't leave it plugged up too long and it will work wonders for you too. By the way, I noticed on the side of the hot pot is an "imprinted" messages that actually says to UNPLUG the cord as soon as it starts to boil, so that probably explains the failure of the first one. I will up my rating of this product to 4 stars, but now I just use a timer to keep track of the progress. This could be a 5 star product if it had an internal temperature control and wouldn't overheat.

The Hot Pot heats the water pretty weel, but the cap do not close tight, and the hot water can spill out very easy. I only use once, because I need to make some teas, while working outside and sometimes is difficult to find hot water, but I will never use it again and if I had the possibility to return I could do it, but I don't have the box and the packing list, anyways is not too expensive.

In preparation for a weeklong roadtrip with my son, I ordered this hotpot, planning to be able to warm up our coffee as we drove. Well there is a light that comes on when you plug in the pot, to let you know you have power, however the unit we received was defective. After about an hour of waiting for heat, I decided to see if it could be fixed. It is very easy to take apart. The leads for the heating element were loosely wrapped around the connectors, but not soldered. Having no tools with me in the car, I tried to reconnect the wires by hand, but could not get a good enough contact for it to heat. Final result: Cold coffee and 12v hotpot put in trash.

of these which is a little annoying (if they are necessary, they should come with the car). So I ordered

Great product. Real easy to use right out of the box. It's designed to use via the lighter outlet in the car which is much easier than hooking a charger up directly to a battery. I bought the first one and then bought two more. I have several earlier traditional trickle chargers and this one clearly is the best. It keeps the new car batteries fully charged between usage. Contrary to popular

belief, cars do not recharge a battery fully when in use. They keep what is already charged. For new cars this is especially helpful, given the number of new electronics now available. BMW Towson is also the best place to purchase this for price and service. I bought it via Amazon at BMW Towson.

Love this charger gets battery to full then automatically does trickle charges as needed. Its a hands off leave it plugged in...the only button I had to push was set to car mode and that was it. Seems to work great...a must have for expensive batteries these days.

I'm kinda new at ham radio stuff, so this may be a bit useless to those who know more about these handheld ham radios....but here goes.

I like it.

I haven't had it out in the field yet, but it sounds good on the desk.

Luckily a large group of hams have added their own software and such out on the web to help.

I had no problems putting the few parts together and getting the radio to work.

There are 2 frequencies displayed on the screen, and I have one set to the ham frequency now, and one on the FRS/GMRS frequency (nice setup).

seems more fragile than the Yaesu FT60

I haven't been able to figure out the short manual...at least it is not helpful at all.

The battery charger station seems cheap... you have to seat the radio in it...you don't have a plug in type attachment. I just unplug it and re-plug it to get it to start charging the internal rechargeable battery(indicator red light turns green after charged).

I don't see a way to use disposables.

Bought this for a particular application that I admit I didn't think through. I wanted to charge 2 12V deep cycle batteries from one Solar Regulator. This Item does not allow the MPPT regulator to sample battery voltage in order to know what state the battery is in, it is a ONE WAY CURRENT DEVICE. Thats my fault, I didnt research that before bought it and in retrospect, its obvious. there is a work around with 0.25amp fuses, and having done that, this isolator works perfectly. Would recommend it anyone with the added info that the charger must be an old school resistive charger (like a car alternator or one of those non-smart chargers you see in automotive yards).

Short story: It Works Cant be used with smart chargers that need "feedback" from the battery, but it works.

I researched this company online and they have been around for quite a while with a good reputation. The install went easily and the instructions were good, in fact simple. I tested at home and thought everything was fine so off to the desert I went. About 14 miles in the check engine light came on and a few minutes later the engine started sputtering, when I stopped it died. My yellow Lab was not pleased either. My main battery was completely dead but my accessory battery was still fully charged. I would rather be lucky than good any day! I removed the isolator from the circuit by connecting the alternator charge wire straight to both batteries the old fashioned way and called it a day. Got home and both batteries were fully charged. I think that either I unknowingly did something or I just got a premature failure or a bad unit. I will go with with this Companies reputation and give them another try. Update to come. I am using the inverter to convert 24v solar cell charged batteries to 110v AC. It has been running for a year without a problem.

The only negative that I have is the low batter alarm. The batteries that it is running off of are old and don't hold a charge very well. When the clouds obscure the sun the alarm tends to go off.

The inverter was purchased for use attatched to a 24 volt power wheelchair. I use it for charging my cellphone, tablet computer, MP3 player, and to power a CFL light when I must go outdoors at night. The unit performs these functions very well, runs cool and appears to have very low idle current, an advantage when running from wheelchair batteries. I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

This is the 24volt version of the larger 12v I own. It works well with my cfl lights, lcd tv and dvd player.

I purchased it to use with my cpap machine at night if power loss is long term. Many claimed that a pure sine wave inverter was needed, to my surprise it worked .

I had this inverter in its original packaging for several months before I got around to setting up my 24V battery powered fountain pump. The inverter started with a loud beep with no load, then the red LED light lit and does not go green. I connected a load and....nothing. I measured the AC output and got 0V. I made sure the batteries are fully charged, inverter is a DOA, however, because I had it for several months before I even turned it on, Amazon will not accept a return. Bummer! I will never purchase this brand again!
