Xantrex PROWatt 2000 Inverter, Model# 806-1220

Xantrex PROWatt 2000 Inverter, Model# 806-1220
  • Provides true sine wave AC current with high surge capability that provides necessary current at startup
  • Dual GFCI AC receptacles and innovative USB power connection

My Xantrex Prowatt SW2000 true sine wave inverter works well in my application but there are several details you may want to investigate.

1.) In order to handle heavy loads, high-power inverters require high-capacity battery banks and low resistance wiring and connections.

2.) Even the recommended battery/wiring system may not supply the specified voltage to the inverter for the inverter to supply its maximum rated output.

3.) The maximum rated inverter output is lower for motor loads, which are inductive.

4.) You are faced with high current surges associated with motor starting.

You may be familiar with some or all of these considerations but I'll give some details.

The SW2000 does produce a true sine wave as observed on an oscilloscope. It also maintains the 120 Volts under varying loads.

My main application is to provide minimal emergency back up power when the utility electrical service is interrupted. During a worst case scenario test we found that our SW2000 can power our natural gas central air furnace igniter and fan motor, refrigerator, lights, bathroom exhaust fans, and computers -all at the same time. But, all this does not fully load the inverter -it only takes it up to about 1200 watts. During an actual emergency, we would not do this -we would use the appliances sparingly.

But, whatever the load conditions, the user's battery supply would need to keep the input terminals of the inverter up to 11 volts to avoid the "low battery" alarm from beeping or, at very least, up to 10.5 volts to keep the inverter from shutting itself off -these features are designed into the inverter to prevent the battery charge from getting too low.

Therefore, to keep the inverter input power terminals above those minimum voltage levels under heavy load conditions, the owner's guide recommends a bank of four 12-volt deep-cycle batteries, size AWG 0 wires no more than 6-feet long, terminal lugs that are crimed super tight onto the wire ends, good condition batteries that are fully charged, and all connections tight.

In my own case, I could never expect the inverter to operate near the full, advertised load (1800 watts) because I am only using two batteries and smaller size AWG 2 wire.

But, here's a test using a heavier load than what I need: When I start with fully-charged batteries and plug a 1500-watt electric heater into the inverter, my battery/wiring system will only supply 11.4 volts to the inverter power input terminals. After about 15 minutes, the voltage drops down to the 11-volt level and the inverter beeps its "low battery" alarm. After a little while longer, the voltage drops down to 10.5 volts and the inverter shuts itself off.

This is important: when the "low-battery" alarm beeped, and later when the inverter shut itself off, THE BATTERIES WERE NOT ACTUALLY LOW and THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE INVERTER. The problem is that my battery/wiring system is not sufficient to support the heavier, 1500-watt load for very long. The specific gravity of the battery acid did not indicate a low charge in the batteries. The inverter was not defective.

The inverter only did what it was designed to do. My undersized battery/wiring system only made it look as if there might be a low-battery or inverter problem. The 1500-watt heater overloaded my battery/wiring system. The inverter is OK. The batteries are not low. I can use our inverter-battery system successfully with our usual, smaller load -like the essential home appliances that I mentioned previously.

All of the above is not to say that there can not be hardware problems or exaggeration in advertising. I only mean to help users by conveying some of the pesky details needed to get good results.

I wish it were not so ... but ... if I needed the absolute full capacity (1800 watts) of the SW2000, I would not only buy two more batteries and larger wire, but I would buy a different model inverter with an even greater capacity -maybe 3000 watts continuous.

Here's why. The devil is in the details. On page 17 of the owner's guide, the 1800-watt rating is shown in the power output chart along with an input of 13 volts! Wow! Their test facility must have a monster power supply to maintain the specified 13 volts at the inverter power input terminals while loading the inverter with the specified 1800-watt resistive load and while delivering a minimum of 140 amps (1800 watts divided by 13 volts = 140 amps).

Sorry, but I have no reason to believe that, even with the recommended bank of four batteries and large wire size, I could ever provide the specified 13 volts needed to produce the specified 1800 watts from this inverter. I would expect my real-world, four-battery power supply voltage to sag down well below the 13 volts due to resistances in the wires, fuses, and connections, as well as the internal resistances of the batteries.

But wait ... there's more. In the same chart on page 17, they say that the rated 1800 watts only applies to resistive loads like incandescent bulbs [and heating elements]. But, what if you need to run motors? Then the limitation is 15 amps maximum. If you multiply the output of 15 amps by the output of 120 volts, you get 1800 watts -but only into a resistive load.

However, if your load is composed of one or more motors, you have an inductive load. When you multiply the 15-amp maximum by 120 volts, you get a maximum output of 1800 volt-amps apparent power. If the motor load has an 80% power factor, the maximum real power (to produce work) would only be 1440 watts. Also, motors usually produce a momentary current surge at start-up -a further demand upon the inverter/battery system -which it may not be able to supply.

I can see why many people are disappointed with their inverters: faulty hardware, misleading specifications, difficult applications such as motors, and inadequate input power supplies (battery/wiring).

My personal conclusions: pay really close attention to installation details and buy a substantially over-sized inverter.

Good luck.

I see a few complaints in the reviews about having trouble with high-load applications of this inverter. I bought one about a year ago, with the intent of using it to get solar-powered air conditioning in my RV. I made it work, eventually, and the problems I encountered had nothing to do with the inverter (which supplied 1500 watts sustained load and handled the surge of starting the AC, once I got everything else working).

First of all, wiring: Everything will tell you that 4 gauge should be more than big enough: Not even close. I tried 4-gauge. Then I tried 0-gauge. Then I tried making the wire runs shorter. Then I started doubling up wire runs in parallel. By the time I was through, my battery interconnects were double and triple 4-gauge in parallel, and the connection to the inverter (coming from the center battery of 5) was 000-gauge (also known as 3/0). Connecting that to the terminals on the inverter required taking an industrial terminal block normally used for substation wiring and drilling a 3/8" hole to connect it to the terminals. Finally I had something that wouldn't drop 2+ volts over the wires when drawing 125 amps. When they say 4 gauge can pass 200+ amps, they mean that it won't melt the wire, not that it will give you a usable voltage.

On top of that, batteries: Lead-acid batteries may say they can deliver huge numbers of amps, but not without huge voltage drops. In practice, for every amp you're drawing you want at least 2 pounds of battery (so, minimum 4 size 27 batteries to deliver 125 amps needed for 1500 watts). Try to power your space heater off something you can pick up assisted, and you're just going to get a lot of annoying beeps.

And don't forget that after you've drawn off half of the amp hours theoretically available in your batteries, your *maximum* voltage will have dropped to around 11.8 (so battery load and wiring losses will be working from a lower baseline). With 5 type 27's, I could run the original rooftop air conditioner for no more than 1.5 hours before they were too far down to provide 11.0 volts under load. So I figured out a way to mount a modern, high-efficiency unit that provided the same cooling for half the power.

The point here is that with a really big inverter, you're pushing 12V right to the absolute limits, and you have all *kinds* of weak points that will keep your system from working properly. These are really intended for big residential solar systems with batteries in the thousand-plus pound range. This inverter works *fantastically* well, now that the rest of the system is properly supporting it, but even for an experienced electronics tech getting all that arranged properly was quite an education.

I have been running A 1 Kw solar plant to run a 1500 watt 19 gal water heater or 2 515 watt Air Conditioners (window units). The Xantrex 2000 inverter easily runs the water heater and 1 AC unit at the same time or the 2 AC units by themselves. It won't handle the startup load of both AC units at the same time though, so I added a time delay relay to one of the AC units and now the inverter easily runs both. I am very impressed with this product after having a Sunforce 4500 watt inverter for almost 2 years now. The Xantrex is way more efficient than the Sunforce with only .8 amps of overhead. It's quiet, well built, and so efficient I can leave it on continuously. I am very pleased.

I use this inverter to power my small mountain cabin. Powered by 800w of solar panels and 4 Trojan t-105 batteries, it runs my Grundfos SQF well pump, lights, microwave and what ever hand power tools I need (not all at the same time). It will not start my radial arm saw, but I wouldn't expect it to. My 4kw generator struggles with starting that saw. Lots of people complaining that it's only rated for 1800 watts continuous. A thousand dollar honda eu2000, 2000watt generator is also rated for considerably less than 2kw continuous loads, both will however put out 2000 watts for motor starting surge etc. This is an industry standard. You should know your needs and research the product before you buy. It's been my experience that lack of power to the inverter (low batteries)is more of a problem than the inverter itself. If you get an alarm there is a reason, Most likely the inverter is doing what it is designed to do. The GFI is a nice feature that could save your life. My only complaint is that the shutdown voltage is so low (10.5v), at that voltage you have shortened the life of your batteries and they are far more expensive than the inverter. Note: 1800w at 12.1v (50%charge on my batteries)is more than 148 amps. That load will kill a car battery in a few minutes and you'd better have some heavy duty cables.

The Xantrex Prowatt SW2000 is an excellent product some of the reviews here claim the unit does not deliver the power claimed... well if you have a good power source and 12 volts DC at the rear terminals the unit *WILL* start a 6000 BTU window air conditioner with an additional 100 watt light bulb connected to it. I measiured 26 amps surge power with a calibrated clamp-on amp meter set to peak hold that is 3100 watts output! (Spec is 3000 watts surge). I also tested 1600 watts continuous no issues there either (1500 watt hot plate + 100 watt light bulb).

The unit also regulates AC voltage very well too the light barely dimmed when the AC compressor started (26 amp surge).

Users that are having issues with low power output have one of the 3 problems (Not the inverter):

1) Batteries are not able to supply the power under load

2) DC cables are too long

3) DC cable wire size is too small

Measure your voltage AT the inverter terminals and at the battery under load that will reveal where the problem is.

I used 8 cells of Lithium Iron Phosphate in a 4s-2p configuration and the cells are 100 amp hour each with under 2 milliohms ESR.... Short circuit current is north of 3000 amps! The wire was less than 1 foot long on each and thru a 120 amp circuit breaker. With 1500 watts load I still have 12.8 volts at the inverter with the batteries measuring 13 volts.

The unit is well built not some cheap design or poor construstion and should provide years of reliable operation. This is why I give it 5 stars.

Same as the other review so he is not lying the cable is junk. I had the same error as him something about did not get first ak or failed connection. I tried the software provided by the manufacturers website because the cd I received was blank, also tried chirp and I tried shaving down the male end on the cable as suggested by the manufacturer for a better fit on the radio receptacle with no luck.

The radio works great the programming sucks because there are potentially a lot of different settings that go into each channel but once you get past that the radio works great and has a lot of advanced features like dpl and so on.

Again for the price its an awesome radio.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Follow up on this review. I figured out the problem with the cable which is user error. So after a more careful analysis of the manufacturers website, I saw that for the firmware release on my uv-r5 I downloaded the wrong program. The software for programming the baofeng is release specific with in a range of firmware. So after turning off the radio and holding the 3 button while turning it back on I saw that I have firmware **97**. So, I downloaded the corresponding software with appropriate driver for the serial cable and it worked.

Apologies for the confusion.

Programming cable doesnt work, maual is useless. However the low price masks alot of the problems. Bought this radio to use on the ham bands and the land mobile service for my volunteer fire dept.. However I havent been able to get all the channels programmed yet, due to the cable not talking to the radio. (radio fails to acknowledge first command) I think they were just trying to get rid of some bogus cables. Save yourself the headache and throw it in the dumpster where it belongs, and buy yourself a name brand programming cable!!!!!!!! I am a 9 year veteran of the computer repair industry so do not just chalk it up to user error on my part. Despite all the headache its an ok transciever and a stunningly brilliant radio for the price! So maybe I should just be thankfull that my Icom IC-91A still does its job very well that its not a time critical thing. But I do hate putting my Icom in the pocket of my turnout coat and then truck on up to a burning building with hoses going! Thats why I bought the Baofeng with cable specifically to be disposable, however if I have to invest this much time hand keying only 16 different channels I might not think its so disposable! argh but I digress BUYER BEWARE OF EXACTLY WHAT YOUR GETTING INTO!!!! If your a radio communications and computer technician/ hobbiest fine then it makes a good experiment. I wouldnt want to deploy a fleet of them though. If your a lay person, stay away unless you have very good freinds who are the aforementioned hobbiest/ technician otherwise buy from somewhere that isnt red china! But if you are into figuring out strange technology you might be into this thing. I like it ok enough just for use under my GMRS license

272 Watts Solar Battery Charger Kit for 12V batteries. Flexible Solar Panels PV Laminate, Charge Con

272 Watts Solar Battery Charger Kit for 12V batteries. Flexible Solar Panels PV Laminate, Charge Controller & MC CablesI bought this solar panel kit before taking delivery of my RV and amazingly, they all fit on the roof of my 25' motorhome, but just barely. My nephews attempted to install this system for me -using limited knowledge of 12 volt electrical systems and no solar expertise. The panels are easy to install, getting the system to work is another matter. There are no real instructions included in this kit.

You will need to add a combiner box, fuses and cable to run from the combiner to the batteries. This was almost another $100 in parts for my RV. A battery monitor is a wise investment, also.

I ended up having to pay an RV solar company to complete the install and add a quality battery monitor. I now have a solar system that will get us thru cold nights (furnance fan runs off battery power) when the days are sunny or we drive over 200 miles. These panels do perform better in lower light and partially shaded conditions than the typical rigid panels.

Knowing what I now know, I would buy this system, again. Should I trade motor homes I don't think these can be moved. They are REALLY stuck tight to the roof.

Schumacher XC75 SpeedCharge Battery Charger with Engine Start

Schumacher XC75 SpeedCharge Battery Charger with Engine Start
  • 75 ampere engine start for emergency starting
  • Self-adjusting, variable charge rates for everyday charging needs and maintaining your battery in peak condition
  • Charges and automatically desulfates and restores car, truck, RV, farm equipment, AGM, gel cell and deep-cycle batteries
  • 3 amp maintain / 5 amp slow / 10-20 amp fast charge
  • The charger automatically determines whether the connected battery is a 6 volt battery or a 12 volt battery

Overall I am happy with the purchase, and the product works well. That being said, there are a few things that I found slightly annoying. It does not have an on/off switch, just a cord to plug in, and it is louder than I would like, however I probably have unreasonable expectations. I charged a large car battery from 6V to full charge overnight on the fast charge setting, the cables that run to the battery terminals got hot to the touch for the first couple hours of charging which made me a little concerned. I also noticed that power cord seems a little short, if you aren't parked within about 6 ft of an outlet, you might want to think about getting a nice heavy gauge extension cord. It is manufactured in Mexico which is a step up from China, The overall quality is reasonable, and you get a lot of features for $60. I am happy with it in spite of the small nit picky things I listed, they were just things that surprised me a little.

Buy Schumacher XC75 SpeedCharge Battery Charger with Engine Start Now

Yes, it charges batteries. Would I buy another one? Probably not. While the packaging proclaimed a 15 amp charging current, reading through the manual reveals that it will not charge at 15 amps at a 100% duty cycle for long enough to charge a car battery. It does fine charging group 27 marine batteries overnight, but chokes trying to charge a 27 sized car battery. The leads and connectors get warm to the touch, and the unit shut itself off a couple times while charging the car battery. I assume this is due to the car battery's lower internal resistance compared to the marine battery. When charging, the screen will read "6" or "12" instead of showing the actual voltage. Finally, the indicator lights are very dim. They are so dim as to be nearly impossible to see outdoors even when shaded. Two and a half stars.

This is the charger that walmart carries, and I would go another route for a qaulity charger. The one review about the % of charge not being accurate is dead on. It starts to update, then stops, then you stop it and start it again and its 95% full charge. Then is doesn't update, check it again in an hour and its 89%. It will charge your battery, just you have no idea when it is fully charged. I returned the first one that I got bc it didn't update at all, no this next one i have does only some of the time, and it is never accurate. Go another route and avoid the frustration. Will keep this updated when i get a new one.

I rate this a DO NOT BUY! "Microprocessor controlled" HA! They must have purchased learning disabled, second hand microprocessors. This thing has no idea what it is doing. I have used it on three different batteries with the same miserable results. I bought the Schumacher name because they have been around forever and I trusted the brand. They should be ashamed. I think it charges, a little, when it is confused enough to do the right thing. If you don't get an error then you get a false reading on the charge % or some error code. Just to be fair, I bought a brand new battery for one of my vehicles, it was due anyway, and it showed after ten hours on the charger 93%. Unplug it and plug it back in and it showed 88% @ 13.6 volts. ???? It's brand new and the cooling fan is defective, no question, bearing is bad. Smack it around and the noise quits. I'm returning it and I certainly will not be exchanging it. I have a Sears 10/2 Automatic that is over 25 years old and it runs (charges) circles around this thing. This device is not to be trusted.

Kipor KDE5000E 5000-Watt Diesel Open Frame Generator With Electric Start

Kipor KDE5000E 5000-Watt Diesel Open Frame Generator With Electric StartThis generator I purchased and am reviewing is the totally enclosed electric-start only version of this model. All other specifications are, I believe, identical. I am not sure if KIPOR still manufactures these models. These generators are made in China.

I am very satisfied with this generator at the time of this writing. It is powered by a vertical single cylinder, air-cooled diesel engine.

This unit weighs about 367 pounds without fuel.

The solid wheels on this generator are about 4" in diameter and do not swivel.

This generator is designed for continuous operation. The electrical outlets are circuit breaker equipped. There is one duplex 120VAC outlet rated for 20 amps, another single 120VAC twist-lock outlet rated for 30 amps, and a single 240VAC twist-lock outlet rated for 30 amps.

The fuel tank holds approximately 4 gallons of #2 diesel fuel.

The generator is rated for 4000 watts continuous duty with 5000 watts peak duty. The diesel engine speed is 3600 rpm at 60 cycles. The diesel engine is fuel efficient. With approximately 2200 watts load on the generator, it consumed 3 gallons of fuel in 10 hours continuous running.

During that running time, I never saw the voltage output drop more that 1.3 volts or rise over .4 volts. The generator cycles stayed between 59.8 60.2 cycles; 59.9 cycles average.

When we lost power during a recent severe snowstorm, I ran this generator continuously for 44 hours. The generator performed flawlessly. It is a little loud, but not uncomfortably so. I couldn't hear it from the house. The generator has a digital LED indicator panel which will give you running hours, voltage, cycles, battery volts and generator load. The indicator panel also will give you diagnostic codes if there is a problem with under/over frequency, overload, low oil pressure, under/over voltage, and battery charger failure.

The generator's diesel engine is not equipped with a glow plug for cold weather starting. I highly recommend installing a battery tender on the generator, since it is electric-start only, to prevent loss of battery performance when the generator sits idle for long periods of time. I don't want a low or dead battery when I need it. I had to crank the engine for about 5 seconds before it started in 28 degree ambient temperature. The little diesel had to warm up for about 10 minutes before running smoothly enough to put on electrical loads.

The generator is equipped with a low-oil pressure warning and shutdown, and a voltage over/under regulation shutdown. There is a mechanical fuel level gauge next to the fuel cap on top of the generator but the level gauge is difficult to read at night. The fuel tank filling port has a removable plastic fine mesh screen.

Access for battery maintenance, checking crankcase oil level, oil filling, and oil filter replacement is cramped and limited by a small, hinged door in the totally enclosed frame. Access to the air cleaner is through a bolted removable steel cover plate.

The portable generator is very robust and heavy; it has fixed steel handles on both ends of the generator and a fixed lifting U-bolt on top. The generator is very difficult to move around on anything other than asphalt or cement. The fit and finish of the generator covers and access plates are very good. The steel enclosure and access panels are tight and do not rattle with the engine running. The generator has a powder coat interior/exterior finish that appears to be good quality and should stand up well to water/moisture. The smooth running engine is mounted on rubber vibration dampers and the generator frame does not vibrate. The generator appears to be well constructed with good structural welds on the frame.

The operator's manual I received from the equipment dealer was a black & white printed manual downloaded from a website. I did not receive any electrical plugs, tools, or extra filters with the purchase of this generator.

This is not a whole-house generator so power management is critical. It ran my 240V well pump, 120V heating boiler, pellet stove, fireplace heatilator fan, coffee maker, refrigerator, freezer, and a few lights in my 3,200 square foot tri-level home. It will also power a small toaster oven or an 1100W microwave if the well, boiler, coffee maker, and most of the lights are off. It is a great little generator, but it will not run all of the above mentioned devices at the same time.

The generator is equipped with its own cranking battery charger. This generator does not provide external DC power nor is it a true sine wave inverter, so running computers and other devices may cause glitches or erratic performance for your high-end electronics.

However, when the power went out for almost 2 full days, in the dead of winter, this generator kept my house warm, and provided hot & cold running water, lights and other conveniences. No problem.

I am satisfied with this generator. When I needed it, it delivered. I recommend it.

YTX20HL-BS High Performance - Maintenance Free - Sealed AGM Motorcycle Battery

YTX20HL-BS High Performance - Maintenance Free - Sealed AGM Motorcycle Battery
  • Chrome Battery YTX20HL-BS Mainenance Free and Fully Charged
  • 6.89in (length), 3.43in (width), 6.10in (height); 13.52lbs
  • 18-Month Warranty, 60-Day Money Back Guarantee
  • High Cranking Amps & Low Self-Discharge Rate
  • Heavy Duty Terminals

In my neck o' the woods, sealed AGM batteries go for $80 to $100+. Money doesn't grow on any of the trees in my neighborhood, so I look for bargains and that usually means checking Amazon first. I was delighted to find this battery for only $66, and with free shipping to boot! I ordered late Thursday afternoon and the package arrived on the following Monday via Priority Mail. I call that excellent service. The battery came with no specific information on cranking amps or any other specifications, but I figure any YTX20HL-BS size battery will meet the minimum requirements of the motorcycles it is intended to fit, so I'm not worried about it. I hooked the battery up to my Battery Tender before installing it to insure a full charge starting out. It took about 6 hours to reach full charge (this is with a Battery Tender, not a battery charger). After installation, the bike started strongly and ran more smoothly than before (this motorcycle has computerized EFI and is very much voltage-sensitive) so output is obviously fine. Chrome Battery offers a no-questions-asked warranty, so no worries if you do happen to get a dud. I recently replaced the battery in my wife's motorcycle and paid about $90. I wish I had found Chrome Battery before laying out that much money. Now I know better.

Not a toy, so disregard the start ratings, not sure how Amazon came up with toy ratings for this item, it is an appliance.

Anyway.......

We purchased this as a battery backup for our iPod Nano and Touch

gear...for long road trips/flights...it works well...with one caveat...it DOES NOT work with the Touch 2G...Apple changed the connector starting with the Touch 2G, and this device does NOT work with it.....otherwise, it works well with the latest Nano iPods....

Extremely simple to use. Just plug into your iPod and flip the switch. Result is a fast, full charge, and (as the power cord is long enough) you can place the battery pack in your back pocket, your iPod in your front pocket, and charge and listen on the go.

Highly recommended.

I have spent hundreds of dollars buying external battery pack for my phone, (HTC EVO), and my Ipod Touch. So far, few of them work as well as this power pack. Because it comes with an older tip for Iphone/Ipod, many buyers believe that they got themselves a bad product. One has to buy an A133 tip for newer Ipod/Iphone, and A97 tip for an Android phone (micro USB). With a set (4) of AA rechargeable batteries, I was able to play movies on my Ipod from Los Angels to JFK, and JFK to half way to Africa!!! Because I carry extra set of rechargeable batteries, I was

able to swap my dead batteries for a new one. One of the reviewers complained about being able to charge his phone only once or twice. Had he has any sense at all, he would have bought himself a set of rechargeable batteries instead. Because of my job (a flight attendant for Delta airlines), I often see my passengers with a dead phone, if they have an Iphone, I simply let them borrow my charger (with an A133 tip) or A97 tip if they have an Android phone. A word of warning, if you use an A97 for your Android phone, please be careful with the tip, one must not bend it in anyway, you would damage your phone's "charging port" (you might not be able to charge it anymore). Simply leave it on a flat table and not moving it around, if possible.

VX 50 - Light Duty Compact Step Up / Step Down Worldwide Travel Voltage Converter - Max 50 Watts. Ideal for iPod, Phone and Camera Chargers
  • 50 Watt Maximum Step UP/Down Voltage Converter
  • Converts 220/240 V to 110/120 V - OR - 110/120 V to 220/240 V
  • Euro to Us and US to Euro adapter plugs included
  • Fuse protected. Do not exceed over 30 watts
  • NOT TO BE USED FOR CURLING IRONS, STRAIGHTNERS, HAIR DRYERS AND KITCHEN APPLIANCES.

I travel to Europe at least once a year. Last year in Spain I took four of them and only one failed me. The fuse blew out. My only complain is that due to new security regulations in Spain the electical sockets are not flat anymore, so I had to buy an attatchment so I could plug it into the wall.

It was around five dollars a unit when I bought them, and if it goes back down to that I'll buy more. Not worth ten bucks.

Universal 12V DC to 110V AC Power Inverter plus + 5V USB Adapter

Universal 12V DC to 110V AC Power Inverter plus + 5V USB AdapterThe AC adapter worked the first and only time I tried it; however, the USB port/adapter did not work at all, no matter how much I fiddled with it and different devices I plugged into it. Also, there was a weird burning smell coming from the unit. The name brand on it reads "The Migration Office Migration Family". I have no idea what that could even begin to mean, but half the unit didn't work so even if you luck out and get a good one, how long before it stops working?

I say just avoid this all together. I live for a day when most everything is reviewed online and makers of garbage products like this will no longer have customers.

Also, I have purchased inverters for most of my family and most all of them, no matter the brand or cost, end up breaking in about 1-2 years BECAUSE THEY LEAVE THEM PLUGGED IN ALL THE TIME! Only plug your inverter in when it is in use (unless it is one of the larger units that connects directly to your battery).

I do a lot of road trips, so thought this would be perfect to help keep my laptop and cell phone charged. This thing did not even come close to powering anything, plus on top of it it got extremely hot and shut itself off after about a 2 hours of being plugged in. It also interfered with my other electronic devices (mp3 player, cd player). I would look for another product.

Crimestopper RS3-G3 Remote Start System with Keyless Entry

Crimestopper RS3-G3 Remote Start System with Keyless Entry
  • Keyless entry is included with this system as well as auto locking with ignition
  • Gas or diesel engine operation
  • OEM alarm arm and disarm outputs; all keyless entry functions will operate from the factory key fob
  • Turbo timer mode with hand brake activation
  • Programmable engine sensing modes: tachometer sense (rpm), tachless (voltage) or hybrid mode
  • 2-Vehicle Operation
  • On-Board Relays For Remote Start and Parking Light Flash

This is a VERY NICE remote start unit.

I installed it myself in about 2 and a half hours. (I did my homework first, knew where and what color wires I needed to locate) The only problems I had were that my body doesn't flex like it used to. :(

I've had other remote start systems throughout the years, but this one had the smallest "brain" of them all. It actually fit BEHIND the gauge cluster.

If you have any idea how tight Japanese cars are made these days, you'll know they don't waste any space. I was impressed at the tiny size.

All of the functions (I was interested in) work perfectly and I am very, very happy with this purchase.

And to make it all an even better deal...... A really nice metal remote! YEA BABY!

The only disappointment to me was the units' "tachless mode" would not work on a (my) warm engine. Being as the unit senses the alternators' output to determine if the engine is running or not, and we all know that a car that has been driven for a while (warm engine) will have a battery that is near fully charged. So, the unit thinks the engine is NOT running being the battery needs little, if any of a charge. (Ask me how long it took me to realize this, as the unit worked fine at first, then would start and soon turn off with a fully warm engine) So, big deal, I had to attach 1 more wire,(Tachometer wire) right at the back of the gauge cluster, easy!

It has many, many options, timers, modes that will satisfy just about everyone out there.

Installation instructions were straightforward.

Wiring diagrams were VERY easy to understand.

Operating instructions were clear.

Programming the many options were clear, but trying to remember them all without printed directions is useless to my tired, old brain.

Just about everyday I use the:

Remote Start

Remote Lock/Unlock

Idle Down Mode (Gives me 10 Minutes to run into a store while engine continues to run)

Timed Shutdown (Turbo Timer) (Engine runs 1 minute after I remove the key. I have a turbo Subaru)

That's all I need in a remote start, and this unit does it all.

I don't need a 2-way system that talks back to me I'll leave that to you younger folks. Enjoy your conversations!

And as far as the few $$$$$$ I paid...... (Less than $60.00)

THIS IS A FANTASTIC DEAL!

My wife is now jealous. But hell, her car sleeps in the garage! There is no ice for her to scrape.

And now there is none for me to scrape anymore!

Tough nuggies baby!

I have everything wired up correctly (triple-checked) and the lock relay in the unit is broken, so the car won't lock by the remote. All the other functions work just as they are supposed to.

After spending a ton of time researching the wiring of my truck and spending most of a day wiring it in, the unit malfunctioned and required unplugging it to stop the horn from sounding. I am extremely thankful that I left the starter relay unhooked or it would have burned up my starter during the malfunctioning. I am sure that this product works for most vehicles, but it did not work correctly in my application.

Great value for a remote start priced under $50, lots of features and will work on both gasoline and diesel vehicles. Did the installation myself on my 97 CRV in less than a day and everything worked as advertised right from the get-go. Range is up 400ft depending on obstructions and the key fob is nice and durable. I would recomend this product.
