Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter

Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter
  • Max continuous power is 750 watts
  • Powers up to 6.52 amperes
  • Dual AC and USB outlets
  • Low battery shutdown to prevent total battery drain
  • Output voltage is 115 volts

Very good unit for the price point. I don't mean to belittle the person who gave this inverter a one-star review, but his rating is completely unfounded. It demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding on his part. You can't fully power this 750watt inverter via a cigarette lighter socket without running the risk of blowing a fuse. Most cigarette lighter circuits are protected with either a 15 or a 20 amp fuse. That amperage is insufficient to run this inverter at full power.

The unit is great but it has a few quirks. The earlier models had a switch instead of a pushbutton on and off. Most people would prefer the switch but it's not a big deal. Also the unit only comes with a 3ft battery clip hookup. So if your hardwiring this unit, get some 2 or 4 gauge wire ahead of time, like the manual suggests using. One last thing is the unit puts out a modified sine wave ac power. Instead of your standard smooth sine wave, it looks more like an aztec pyramid. So if your appliances need a standard sine wave output keep this in mind. If you have no idea what that means you'll probably be fine purchasing the unit..

This inverter worked like a CHAMP on our cross country trip with our 6 yr. old grandson. It kept his PS2 and 12 inch plasma TV going the whole trip.Would highly recommend.

I bought this power inverter at a local hardware store, 2 days after hurricane IKE. Of course we had a power outage and it performed well, used 4 hours to power up a black and white analog television and a 60 watt table lamp and a small floor fan. I was VERY pleased with the performance.

It took me forever to take it almost completely apart in order just get to the fuses, on the top of all that the fuses were soldered to the plate? This is "one time use" inverter. really really disappointing!!!
