Should have spent more money. I'm disappointed with the range (not more than a couple 100 yards in the woods) and the high level of background hiss even when I do get reception.

We use these on a 5 acre campus and have tested their range with great success. The build quality could be better but considering the price point I expected some build-cost savings. In a nutshell I wouldn't recommend these for heavy use, but unlike many of the radios out there they at least deliver on the promised range.

Battery life with hourly use: 28hrs

Charge Time: 4 hours

Cons:

No charging light and a Voice activated feature than can get you into an unfortunate circumstance if left on.

If only the ratings went negative. The reception is amazing from 100ft away, but when you get to .25 miles (line of sight) the static kicks in. I think that .25 miles is the limit for this radio. My expectations were 1 mile (line of sight) and I didn't even get that. RETURNING THIS JUNK!!!!!!!! I'm going to stay away from Midland for future purchases.

Amazon.com or the seller are picturing these two-way radios as having displays that light but they do not! Do not be deceived. It is impossible to read the display in dimming light or darkness.
