I have 3 of the 2-cell chargers now, and they come packaged with the USB charger and 2 batteries. What I really like about these is that the cells are alkaline, full 1.5 volt rather than the 1.2 volt NIMH type. This makes for slightly more energy availability for your devices, maybe a tad brighter flashlight, or a longer time on your camera or player until it gets to the voltage that triggers it to turn off due to low battery. I put a pair of cells into the remote control for a Roku player box that gets a lot of use, and 6 months later the same batteries were humming along just fine on the same original charge. These batteries claim they're only good for about 200 charges at best, but where can you get that many batteries for your device for that low price? The USB powered charger is very convenient if you are around computers, and the LED charging indicator makes the use very easy to track. This is the ideal little charger device to pair with your digital camera if it uses 2 AAs. Buy it and throw it in your bag. If you already have some NIMH cells the charger can work with those too. The environmental factors of low toxicity and readily available materials plus very long charged shelf life are obvious bonuses. IGO AC05105-0001 2-PORT USB BATTERY CHARGER

First, I should say, the picture resembles nothing like the product I received, but that isn't important here. The package is only the beholder of the technology I seek. Here are the prominent high points of this device.

* Can charge either one or two batteries independently.

* Global standard USB interface.

* Charges slowly to assure a higher capacity and longer battery life.

* Affordable.

There are a few cons:

* A single LED indicates the charging status. One battery may already be charged, but is it? You won't know until both are done.

* Batteries may fall out with careless handling.

* Lack of strain relief on USB port. If you plug this into your $2000 mac, I would recommend strongly to prop the device up as USB ports are not designed to bear this torque. I solved this problem with a 6" USB extension cable.

Don't use an expensive power source (laptop) unless you are certain that it is of robust design (or perhaps under warranty). After receiving this unit, I plugged it straight into my laptop and burned out the USB driver, so I no longer have USB functionality. This is not the fault of the charger. The laptop failed to shut off the USB when more current was drawn than was capable of, either due to defect or lack of compliance with the USB standard. It shouldn't happen, but it did. There are lower-risk and more efficient ways to charge your batteries than using a laptop, just don't do it.

Do as I do and have a USB automotive lighter or wall adaptor that charges my phone, kindle and batteries using a data cable.

I bought this lightweight unit so that I would always have a set of spare batteries for my EDC light.

As it can be charged on the usb port of a computer, or an optional wallwart it is easy to always have a pair of charged batteries ready to go for any device requiring AA cells.

The batteries come precharged. So just toss the thing in your bag and go.

It finally came. Now it just sits there and blinks green. The web site says it should have a blue blinking light so I assume from that that this is a discontinued device. J Prime contacted me with directions on how to contact manufacturer.

Contacted the manufacturer and they have not gotten back to me. At this point I am not sure what to do about it.
