We recently purchased the XG7000E Generac generator after Hurricane Irene. It was very easy to assible, just had to attach the wheels and add oil (which was included). I tested it a few times under load with no problems. Just recently we lost power of 7 days due to a snow storm. We logged 90.2 hours on the generator...ran it up to 10 hours without shutting it down. This machine worked perfectly, powered everything in the house (I even did a load of laundry...but did not use the dryer). Best investment we've ever made!
I would highly recommend this unit!I have only ran this for a few minutes to test it. Runs great. Does sound like a riding mower but...it is a big motor. Easy to assemble...the instructions were fine. I had my concerns on previous comments. I wish they had of told me that everything was already hooked up because I went through the start of the book and had to unhook and find everything just to see it was already there. Just add gas,oil and connect the battery (and it has a tag hanging off of it to connect). Seems like a very solid machine with alot of options. So far I am very impressed!!!When the power was on I didn't need it.......same old story. I waited until the recent storms to decide I needed this and then it was out of stock. I was all set to buy the 7500W generac Model # 5943, but couldn't find one anywhere in the Northeast....NH. By the time these things were back in stock late in Janurary 2013 I re-evaluated and decided on this model simply because I liked the idea of the 410cc (pressure and filtered lube) engine ...... superior in my mind to the 420cc (splash lube) on the GP7500E.Box arrived as expected, all parts accessible. Easily assembled (mount wheels, attach arms.) Adding oil was annoying as there isn't an easy spout, but using the provided paper cone worked.
Engine cranked, but did not start. Called tech support -just after hurricane Sandy -and got through after a reasonable wait time. As it turned out, the engine started right up as tech support was going through their diagnostics (I suspect bad gas).
Would recommend this model to other purchasers.Bought this generator to power my house via a 10 circuit transfer switch. So far so great. Starts and stops flawlessy and runs perfectly smooth during 10+ hour durations. As of this writing I've been running this generator for 90 hours due to Hurricane Sandy. It's a little loud outside, but a non factor with the doors and windows shut. Not a problem for me since the neighbors homes are far away, but I could see this being a problem in tighter communities. Worth every penny.
