I purchased this for my trolling motor as my brother kept on me about getting a battery charger marine type. Anyway, it works just great and from my perspective, no second guessing, just simple hook it up and forget it! I now have the confidence that I am not overcharging, that I won't get stuck out in the middle of our lake with a drained battery and that my brother is now a happy fisherman as he comes up to the lake and uses MY pontoon and trolling motor which now always has a fully charged battery!!!! Hooray for simplicity and excellence in quality!

I ordered this charger thinking that with the Schumacher name it would last another 25 years like my old Schumacher charger. Nope. It charged one battery then died. I initiated a return with Amazon and got it replaced. Well the replacement charger would not even come on when I got it! Now I am sending 2 of these chargers back to Amazon and will look at another brand for my replacement charger. Wow how quality has changed when the items are made in Mexico instead of the USA where my old one was made. Says a lot about the shape of the country and the world in general.

its slow and methodical.. when the green light comes on the battery is truly topped off to the brim. I have a sears fast charger that does the job quicker ,but the battery gets hot and doesnt seem to go as long on the trolling motor as when i use the schumacker. I have a feeling my battery will last more years using this one.

I thought it was pricey but after using it for several weak batteries, I would not sell it for any amount. I reactivated a dead maintenance free battery that had not been used in over 5 years. Took 48 hours but it de-sulphated and revived at least one dead cell. Battery voltage is now 12.9 VDC and will operate the starter for a 15 hp generator engine. Battery envolved is a CP 12180 12volt 18 Amphour sealed lead acid.

I also use it on my trolling motor batteries and get a superior charge.

I will see how well it really works when i take a 16 hr flight next week..

The adapter seems to power up my Zen Sleek Photo well and quickly, but there is high end buzz as it's charging when listening to the unit through the Aux input in my car. When simply playing, it's bearable, but when selecting a new song (thereby engaging the hard drive), there's some obnoxious screeching such as one might endure duing a bad goth album.

Griffin iTrip Mini FM Transmitter for iPod Mini

Griffin iTrip Mini FM Transmitter for iPod Mini
  • FM transmitter designed to play iPod mini music through FM radios
  • Tunes to any FM frequency for the best possible performance
  • Battery-free design receives power from iPod itself
  • Sleek, attractive housing fits seamlessly on top of iPod mini

The itrip mini does what it advertizes: fits the sleek lines of the mini ipod without adding much bulk at all, and transmits your tunes to a radio tuned to frequency (defaults to 87.9, but you can adjust that by installing the simple software provided with the itrip).

Living in LA, there are VERY limited options insofar as stations not in use. 87.9 is actually one of the few options. The sound quality was awful. I tried using this device in my car, in my room, in my home stereo all with the same lousy results.

I should have listened to the advice of the salesperson at the Apple store and gotten the cassette device to play my ipod music on other sound systems.

Bottomline: it works, but sounds like music playing on a radio station that doesn't quite come in clearly static. Poor volume, and very poor sound quality.

Buy Griffin iTrip Mini FM Transmitter for iPod Mini Now

Having gone through several iterations, I have found that the iTrip mini is simply and clearly the superior method (for me) to listen to my iPod mini over my car's radio. In my mind, this is a must have accessory for your iPod Mini.

Let me start with my setup: I have an XM Radio setup and the iPod mini in my VW Jetta. Cup holders are located just above the radio location in the Jetta and both the XM and the iPod sit in their respective Belkin Tunedocks which are seated in the cup holders.

Initially, I used a Belkin Tunecast to broadcast the iPod signal to the radio. It was fairly miserable at accomplishing this task. Actually, it was awful and could not even overcome weak signals from adjacent stations. Plus, the battery life was not very good and the little power cord kept getting disconnected. Enter the cassette solution which I used with a y-adaptor to hook in both my XM SkyFi and iPod. This worked well but I had cords everywhere and it was a bit annoying but the sound quality was a ridiculously big improvement. Then I got the XM MyFi for Christmas which has an internal FM transmitter so I figured I would go completely wireless and picked up the iTrip Mini.

For me, the iTrip has been flawless is the sound quality amazing? No. However, the volume out level is good (don't crank up the iPod volume all the way you don't need to and it overmodulates and distorts the sound if you do) and I don't get static or fading or any problems like that. I have never had to add in the other stations I always keep it on 87.9. I have heard that other stations in the middle of the FM band might provide better quality, but I'm playing this over a Jetta's factory radio so I figure the incremental benefit is probably not there.

I should add, as you may well note, that I am in Dallas and yes we have a crowded FM band there is no frequency that does not have a strong signal on an adjacent frequency yet I have no problems. I think that finding a solid location in your vehicle relative to the radio head unit or the antenna is vital mine is always fairly proximate to the head unit. Moving it some distance say to the passenger seat has a deleterious effect on the quality and interference although it is still quite useable.

I would also note that the transmitter is far superior not only to the Belkin that I previously used, but also to the one in my XM MyFi. With the MyFi, it is not unusual for me to deal with persistent interference that requires me to go channel hopping.

I'd also like to say a word about the form factor it fits perfectly atop the iPod and is, in that regard, highly portable. If you want to listen to or share some tunes in a friend's car or at their house, you need only bring your iPod with the iTrip on top and you are ready to go no additional cords or plugging into outlets, etc. it is the easiest, most elegant solution. Granted, the iTrip uses the iPod's battery for power, so it does have an effect on that regard but the portable nature far exceeds the convenience in any of the power cord/broadcast combos available.

Looked at a couple of options for using the iPod in the car. Like the fact that there are no extra wires, just pop the iTrip on top of the mini and you're good to go. Very handy for us with two cars; can use our iPods without carting wires/plugs/etc between cars. The iTrip just uses the iPod's battery. Total run time seems about half down to 3 or 4 hours.

Start up is amazingly easy, just unbox and attach to your mini, tune your radio to the default 87.9, and that's it. There's software included that interfaces through iTunes that lets you tune to different frequencies and also turn off the LED (to save power), but we haven't needed it since the default frequency is empty.

Also make sure to keep the volume in the range that Belkin suggests; over 70-80 percent of your iPod's volume and your tunes start to distort; so turn up the volume on your car stereo, not on your iPod. 80% is about the same loudness as typical radio broadcasts, so when you switch between your iPod and other stations, you won't get blasted out.

I really, really wanted to like this product. I read all the reviews before buying and thought I'd take my chances despite numerous complaints about static and interference in metropolitan areas. But my experience has been just the same.

I downloaded the frequency finder and tried every station recommended for the NYC area. Still, the sound quality was mediocre at best no where NEAR the fidelity of a normal FM station.

Went out yesterday and bought an RCA "Y" adapter and now use that instead.

I have a lot of "windshield time" and one of the main reasons I purchased an iPod was to use for books I download from Audible.com (I was tired of burning 10-20 CD's per book), as well as giving me the capability to download music from iTunes. No, it doesn't sound like my Infinity speakers at home, but (1) I didn't expect it to, and (2) the sound quality is surprisingly very good for the most part with both books and music. There is only one city that I travel to/through where I get a little interference with the FM setting at 87.9, but 90% of the time it is not a problem. The Griffin iTrip Mini does a terrific job for a superb price and I highly recommend it.

BlueAnt S4 True Handsfree Speakerphone & Wireless Bluetooth 2.1

BlueAnt S4 True Handsfree Speakerphone & Wireless Bluetooth 2.1I just bought a second Blue Ant for my work van I've had one in my car for about 8 months and don't know what I did without it! The sound isn't the best for listening to my music, but that's what stereos and iPhone adapters are for.

I wouod recommend this to anyone, especially for the safety aspect. If you are in an accident and can't reach your phone, all you'd need to do is say "Blue Ant speak to me" and tell your phone to call someone. It's the best product for people who are conscious about not holding a cell phone while they drive.

Works well and would recommend it to friends or others. As this was my first experiance with this type of hands free device, except for the ones that you put in your ear,I would say it met my expectations. I have read other people's reviews on this same item so I did have some expectations. My only real complaint would be that it I have to ask the device to connect to my phone's voice commands every time I want to call someone or just to dial a number. My expectations were higher on that operation. I was thoroughly expecting to say call such and such and it would connect, not so. Besides that one item I am pleased with all other aspects. When I do purchase down the road I will look for one, if available, that will do the phone command right from the get go as a in ear piece does.

It's easy to use and call quality is great. I've talked to people who had no idea I was in my car on a hands-free device.

Power Bright VC100W Voltage Transformer 100 Watt Step Up/Down 110 Volt - 220 Volt

Power Bright VC100W Voltage Transformer 100 Watt Step Up/Down 110 Volt - 220 VoltI am currently in the Army deployed to Afghanistan and here it is a 210v outlets. So in order to plug in my Xbox I needed a transformer that would work well in the dusty enviornment of Afghanistan. This is a great product and works well with both 110v and 210v-240v (there are settings for all voltages).

PROS

-Works great with Xbox360, PS3, and other American appliances.

-Comes with extra fuses in case you burn them out.

-There is a power switch on it so you can plug in first to double check and make sure it is in the right port (even if it isnt it will just burn out the fuse rather than blow your appliance)

-It is slotted for all different types of plus ie. european plug which are 2 prongs and iraq plugs which is 2 flat with 1 veritical plug

CONS

There is a burning smell when I use it past an hour I feel like its probably because of dust stuck inside or what not but maybe you will not have the same problem.

CONCLUSION

If you are currently serving overseas ie. Germany,Iraq,Afghanistan,Italy this is a great product to buy when you want to play your xbox360 or ps3 since they are 110v.

Just be sure to read carefully and always use proper safety procedures when operating any electronics.

I purchased this to use certain small electrical devices that I brought from the UK to use in Barbados. It works exactly as I hoped/expected it to work. Very simple to use and small enough to take with me if I need to use 110v devices in 220v countries or vice versa.

This is an excellent machine, and at such a cheap price!

I'd originally intended to buy a simple small power converter from Radioshack, but they were 39 bucks for a crappy thing that only has 40W output and looked very flimsy. I knew there had to be a better option online, so I came to take a look here, and lo-and-behold, I found this gem of a little power converter.

The size isn't too bulky or space-taking (it sits nicely in a corner without disturbing anyone), the cord is long enough that I can have it on top of the cabinet next to my sound system, or in a shelf beneath it depending on my mood, and its power output is 100W! Far more than what I needed for my sound system, so I can use it for other things also without having to buy a more powerful machine.

It's really a great machine, and accepts both 110 volts and 220 volts without problems. For the output, you just plug your device into either of the two exit outlets it has, depending whether you need 110 or 220.

It accepts a wide variety of plugs and I was pleasantly surprised to see it comes with spare fuses and an extra plug-converter in case you need to plug it into a foreign outlet.

I also like that it has an on/off switch so that I don't have to keep unplugging it whenever it's not in use. Other converters I've had before would keep pumping power and over-heating if you didn't unplug them, while this unit has none of those problems, and works like a charm!

I'm very happy with it and will probably get a few more so that I can have some here and some for when I travel and so on.

Second, the usb power source is very useful when needing charging of USB accessories. Now the few complaints are, Laptop computers are not recommended for charging. Laptops in general, draw a lot of recharging power40minutes of charging will literaly drain a fully charged powerpack source. Lastly the air inflator is not that good, even for an average, may take a while to inflate those tires. Jumpster works perfectly & recharing is done effortless.

I keep one in each of my trucks and don't go anywhere without one with me. The powerpack is well made and designed, they make appreciated gifts. All of mine were shipped from Northern Tool through Amazon. You have to recharge the unit every 3 months or so as the charge will run down.

I originally purchased this for camping and emergency power. While I haven't used it for an emergency yet, I have used it for a weekend camping trip. We were able to charge our cell phones, and laptop (to watch some movies at night), and recently used it to jump start my 4 wheeler. Very well made, the battery is a little small but much bigger would have made it to bulky and heavy to move around. All in all I would recommend this booster/generator to anyone who requires a portable power source simply excellent when camping.

I also wanted to mention that the battery is easily replaced in this unit.

I went and bought this powerpack for my father, seeing as though it would be a reliable product.( my sister's car would occasionally need a jump start along with the compressor and usb charger) we bought it in July, only fully charged it once. It was still nearly full but then Hurricane Sandy starts up. We use up all the battery for powering whatever was crucial. Here's the kicker, tried to charge it again once power was restored. left it plugged in for about 6 hours. still reading empty. We went over to the ac adapter. it's uncomfortably warm to the touch and that's never good. tried another couple of hours, still nothing. Extremely dissapointed.

DID NOT WORK!

This item is lowest grade and unreliable. I have installed it as a backup for an alarm system and

it worked for merely 10 days. Then the alarm system beeped to indicate a low battery status again.

For comparison: My old battery (same specifications, 12V, 5Ah) worked for 5 years.

Should this new item be really exhausted after 10 days without ever being loaded once ?

We never lost AC power in these days, so how can a new battery be exhaused so quickly?

Since I could not believe it, I first blamed the electronics for a false battery alarm and cleared

the battery status several times by disconnecting the AC transformer (according to the advise of experts).

With this correct installation procedure, the battery indication went off, but only for 10 days first

and then only minutes thereafter until the alarm system always indicated a low battery status over and over again

with annoying beeping.

Consequently, the battery voltage must drop below the required

level (~11.7V) after a short time, while the AC is actually powering the whole system.

There is always a tiny minimal load, i.e. for the control unit in the house.

In fact, I used my digital multimeter to check the battery voltage under full load to the alarm system (disconnecting the AC manually).

It dropped below 11V after seconds! This is below the required DC voltage to power the system.

If it is not loaded (AC transfomer powered) it shows 13.6V, but only for a short time and then the voltage

declines until the electronis indicate the low battery status. I even measured a steady voltage drop

with the battery de-installed just connecting the two leads of my Multimeter to it.

There should not be a voltage decline measuable with such a high-ohmic load.

This means the battery dischages even with the tiniest load.

This "new" battery actually exhausts after 10 days of unloaded use.

Wow! This is a welcome to burglars!

At least my alarm system is not malfunctioning.

Meanwhile I have ordered a battery from a different vendor to secure our house.

This seller did not respond to my complaint after a couple of days and I am filing a claim to get a refund.

A total disappointment so far.

have had this for a little over 2 weeks and it works good. it even gives a slow charge to batteries under normal indoor light. I tried it outside and it charges batteries fast and with no batteries in full sun it charges my cell phone well through the usb port. indoor light is not enough to run the USB with enough juice to charge a phone, but it does charge batteries indoors and can use the batteries to charge a USB device.

Under solar power only it is not enough to run some of my higher demand devices but it does most fine, and when running of 2 AAs it runs the USB hot enough to charge most anything I have.

All in all it seems a good unit and I paid less than $20 for it with shipping I recommend it to all my friends,

The only design flaw is that the little loop at the top is not quite big enough to fit a carbeener through so I had to attach a keyring to it in order to clip it to the outside of my pack. perhaps in the future they can mold it with a slightly larger opening.

I purchased the hybrid solar charger hoping to use it on a camping trip, but in testing prior to the trip I discovered it's not even worth taking. Prior to purchase I knew of some product flaws like there being no off switch and needing to remove the batteries when not charging, but the flaws are worse than I imagined.

Initially I tried to leave the charger in my sun room which receives a good amount of sunlight, but the charging light didn't even come on during the course of a few hours. It needs really strong sunlight to "turn it on." After which I could bring it back inside to the sun room and it would continue charging with the light on. I tried this over the course a few weekends and only once did the batteries actually charge. Every other time one of the batteries completely discharged. At first I thought I had a bad battery so I tried multiple batteries with no luck. The batteries were Energizer NiMH and they have performed well in my Xbox 360 controller.

I knew the charging speed would strongly depend on the brightness of the sunlight, but I didn't expect that more often than not charging in the sun would drain the batteries rather than charging them.

The reason I chose this model of solar charger was it's support for AA batteries because I figured I could always bring extras and use them to charge my camera at night. This didn't work out so well either. Numerous times I tried charging my cell phone as a test case and not only did my cell phone not charge, but it seemed to lose charge at a faster rate than it would have if the charger wasn't plugged into it.

I'm not sure if I've waited too long to return this thing, but hopefully I can at least discourage others from buying it.

be advised the device does not come with rechargeable batteries. Make sure you compare the cost of batteries when comparing the 2 devices.

**update** 2012-10-11

Don't buy this product. It really isn't worth the money. the couple times I tried to charge my cell phone with it, it never worked.

This is a decent product, but I do think it would be nice to have an 'off' switch. There is only charging the internal batteries or charging a device off of them. It would be great to be able to switch it off without having to take the batteries out all the time.

I dunno. I bought this because it was inexpensive but then I had to go and buy $35 rechargeable batteries for it, anyway. I'd probably go with something a little more solid next time.

Orange Electronic P409S Retrofit Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Orange Electronic P409S Retrofit Tire Pressure Monitoring System
  • Includes a Lithium-ion battery
  • Projected 5 to 7-year battery life
  • Ergonomic Design that displays tire pressure
  • Designed for vehicles that did not come with a factory tire pressure monitoring kit

After having read reviews and researched Hella TC-400 and Orange Electronic P409s kits, I decided on the P409s because it is less expensive, less complicated to install, displays 4 tire pressure readings simultaneously and has one small display unit (vs a display unit AND receiver that the TC-400 requires).

I installed the sensors myself onto brand new 18" BMW aluminum alloys and had my shop use a dial-type torque wrench to torque the valves (included in the kit) down to 4 newton meters (~35 inch pounds), exactly as the Orange Electronic P409s manual states. If you don't have a dial type torque wrench (not clicker), then you'll need one to install this kit. I then had them mount the tires on and as soon as they pressurized the tires, the sensors turned on.

The kit includes absolutely everything you need: valve cores, valve stems, valve stem caps that say (sensor inside), and sensors. The only thing you need are wheels and tires.

Finally, it takes about 5-10 seconds every time you plug the head unit in for the sensors to link up to the head unit. And the digital readout is very accurate, providing the identical reading that my handheld digital tire pressure gauge gives. What an awesome kit, from the cockpit of my BMW 850i (which has a lot of insulation, I was concerned about wireless reception), I can get the signals from all four sensors. There are no reception issues to report.

You can manually set the high and low (pressure and temp) alarm thresholds, and upon trigger of an alarm, the sensor in question lights up red on the display and it starts beeping. If you pressure the top button once you can silence the beeping. It's amazing to watch the tire pressures as you drive, you can watch them rise and see how high they really do go, this helps a lot because I use monitor my pressures closely to equate to the amount of grip I'm get during some of my performance drives on curvy country roads. Having this kit has allowed me to tweak my optimum cold tire pressures in order to properly balance tire life and grip.

I highly recommend this product, especially for high performance sports or luxury cars. In my humble opinion, the P409s is the way to go for after-market TPMS.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is useful to note that when you buy the kit, if you plug in the head unit, the sensors will NOT LINK UP to the head unit UNTIL you install them and pressurize the tires. They have a sleep mode that goes into effect when there is no pressure in order to preserve battery life while the unit is sitting on a shelf. So if you buy the kit and want to "test" it prior to installing it with tires/air, it won't work until you actually pressurize the tires and then plug the head unit in.

I have found this to be the best of three different after-market TPMS that I've tried. This valve attachment location has proven more durable than the band technique. The simultanous four-time readout is more user-friendly than those readouts that require a button to be pushed repeatedly to change among multiple tires. This unit has proven appropriately sensitive to low tire pressures on multiple occasions. Economical. Highly recommended.

...and highly recommended if you don't. Bought this device from another online vendor because Amazon had not yet started carrying it. This one gets only 4 1/2 stars because depending on where you place it, the display might not be readable in bright light conditions. However, the audible alarm will promptly alert you of anything headed south with your tire pressures.

(UPDATE Dec 04, 2011: As of this date, I still own this Subaru and have put an ADDITIONAL 100,000 miles on it since the failure of the center differential that was suspected of being caused by one chronically low tire over the first 80,000+ miles under the most extreme of driving conditions with no hint of the second differential encountering a similar issue.

While the potential consequences for damaging an expensive drive line component in an AWD system due to one low tire would appear to be arguable in theory as discussed by one knowledgeable commenter, the tolerances in today's AWD systems might just well call for tighter control of tire pressure conditions to prevent damage OVER THE LIFE of the AWD vehicle, especially in the seemingly superior AWD system of the Subaru. Is it possible that in less capable systems, AWD prowess is sacrificed for long term reliability of drive-line components? It's not worth it for you to find out the hard way.) END of UPDATE.

I bought this tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) after losing the center differential to the tune of $880 in our 2004 Subaru. What in the world does this have to do with TPMS? Well, it turns out much more than you would think!

Most folks who own full time all wheel drive vehicles don't realize that they must keep close watch on tire pressures, tire brands, etc., especially if you have a manual transmission. If you own a full time all wheel drive vehicle, check your user manual to see what it says about buying tires for it and keeping

them properly inflated. Many of these vehicles might have to have ALL FOUR tires replaced in the event only 1 becomes unserviceable.

You might also find that you will have a FULL SIZED spare instead of one of those donut types. This is because no tire can vary in CIRCUMFERENCE more than 1/4" 1/2" from another in order to maintain proper rolling characteristics. That my friends, is a pretty tight spec! Pressures must also be adjusted for loading of the vehicle. Some all wheel drive vehicles might still have the donut spare, but you will be limited in speed and how far you can drive on it. Your user manual might not explain why or you might question it and ignore the precaution...a very bad idea. Failure to heed this tidbit of information could result in a very expensive repair. The forces at work here are similar to those of driveline binding, a concept known to most seasoned 4WD vehicle operators...it just never occured to me how much a chronically low tire on a drive axle could really cost me!

The reason for this can get a little technical but I will try to keep it simple. The amount of air pressure in most tires affects how many times it will rotate over a given distance. With less air pressure in your tire, it will generally roll more times per mile, run hotter and under certain conditions, put more stress on the driveline of your full time all wheel drive vehicle. If it is normal for your tire pressure to be 30 psi at all 4 wheels and you have one tire running at 22 psi, you could be headed for trouble if you allow this condition to persist. It is even worse if you have a slow leak and just keep pumping it up rather than getting it fixed like I did.

Most all wheel drive vehicles have some means to detect the rotation of your wheels and based on that information redistribute power to the wheels that have the most traction. One tire running substantially low on pressure than the other 3 will be seen as a wheel that is constantly slipping. Yourvehicle will try to compensate for that by sending more power to the other 3 wheels. Usually a differential of some sort is involved in that process. Under low speed conditions, say 5 mph or so, there is really not much of a problem. But if you run a tire that is chronically low for 5000 miles (an oil change interval) at highway speeds, you could be headed for trouble. The lesson here is that a low tire over thousands of miles on a drive axle could eventually cause a problem.

How fast things go downhill will likely be determined by the design of your all wheel drive vehicle, the power distribution concept, whether it is an automatic or manual transmission and the difference(s) in the rolling characteristics between wheels.

In 2008 I believe TPMS systems became mandatory on all new vehicles sold in the U.S., but that was mostly safety related to prevent accidents that could be attributed to poor tire inflation. There was probably a little bit of "green thinking" involved in there, too as tire pressure relates to fuel economy and its impact on the nation's oil reserves. Some of these OEM devices are reported to

be not as flexible as after market ones.

What I like about this model is that you can set the Hi and Lo alarm limits for your application. (OEM TPMS systems might not allow you this flexibility because they don't want you changing anything.) The Orange's display will show green for

tires within the limit and turn to red and sound an alarm when the pressure goes outside the limits. You can also set the device to show pressure only, temperature only, or to toggle between temperature and pressure as well as set a temperature alarm. It is also one of the easiest aftermarket devices I've seen to reset when you rotate your tires.

I had my system installed upon buying a new set of tires at a popular warehouse chain. They installed it at no additonal charge. You will have to learn how to set it after rotating tires as some tire shops might not know how to do it, especially if you didn't get the device from them. It is also a good idea when you buy new tires or have a tire removed from a rim for flat repair, that you

let them know you have such a system installed in order to prevent damage to the sensors. In the days of rubber valve stems, tire shops would cut the valve stem or use a tool to pull it out to deflate the tire faster. Any tire shop worth its salt should be able to immediately recognize that you have a TPMS by looking at your valve stem. This may cause some tire shops to want to at least provide a new internal spring loaded portion (core) of the valve stem when servicing your tire. I would expect the fit to be fairly universal with no issues. However, they should not try to sell you new sensors. If you need one, make sure it is from Orange to ensure compatibility wth your display. I really see no need to replace sensors unless they are not working. For what it's worth, I have driven millions of miles and have never had the core of a valve stem fail, although I have recently had the rubber type valve stem fail because of long term exposure to the southwestern elements and an improper material spec when manufactured on the other side of the Pacific.

One final note is that this device should be relied upon only to detect changes (mostly deflation) in tire pressures. You will get much greater accuracy and conistency of measurement using a simple slider type tire gauge. Electronic devices have random and systematic errors that can affect their accuracy even among the same types of sensors. Be mindful of the accuracy spec on the TPMS and that you are actually using a different sensor to measure each tire. If you see a difference between your tire gauge and the TPMS, most often the tire gauge will be more accurate. Use the tire gauge to set pressures and use your TPMS to detect and warn you of changes that can affect safety and help you avoid conditions that can affect the long term service life of your vehicle's drivetrain.

If you have just regular front wheel or rear wheel drive, this device could easily save you a lot of money just by preventing things like an expensive tire from being destroyed, being stranded in the hot desert with your wife and kids or something similar. I even carry a pump now in case I develop a slow leak. If you don't have TPMS and do a lot of driving....get one....THIS one!

This product might work well on passenger car tires but not on my pickup truck. I encountered 2 problems. First, the highest pressure That can be set for the over pressure alert is 60 psi. My truck tires are inflated to 70 psi so the alarm goes off and must be manually turned off every time I start the vehicle. The second problem is that with my crew cab truck the farthest tire from the unit (right rear tire) is too far to broadcast a strong enough signal to register. I thought maybe the sensor in that tire was malfunctioning but I switched the tires around and the right rear never gets a strong enough signal to register.

  • 8 Feet Long. Voltage Converter/fuse box is in the middle, 4 feet from the connector and 4 feet from power source

I ordered two of these, one for myself and the other for my father. I also installed both of them an our bikes and they work perfectly.

As far as installation goes, I would recommend using a fuse tap (such as an add-a-circuit) from and auto parts store so that the converter box in the line doesn't drain the battery if you don't ride for a while. You may find, however that your fuse circuit is still hot because you may have relays on your fuse box, in that case, I would recommend installing a switch with the hot wire running into the fuse tap so that all you need to do is flip the switch off and the converter box will not use up your battery.

I don't think the converter box uses up that much power, but if it is directly connected to your battery (or you have the fuse tap in a hot circuit ((by hot circuit, I mean that it is getting power even with the ignition off)) ), the converter box IS using power constantly, so that is why i recommend using a switch or a fuse tap to a switched circuit (meaning a circuit that is not receiving power when the ignition is off).

Make sure you ground everything you install, or it won't work, and make sure every new line has a fuse (why i recommend the fuse tap).

You will have to ground the converter box or the setup will not work. If you use a switch with an LED indicator on it, you will also have to ground the switch if you want the LED to work, but not grounding the switch should not impact the setup's functionality as long as the converter box is grounded (speaking from logic, not experience).

If you have any question for motorcycle install, feel free to ask... I know how difficult it can be to find answers to these questions, but fortunately i found a setup that worked for me and my dad.

Buy Gilsson Direct Wire Cable for Garmin Nuvi 205 255 265 550 660 755 760 765 775 885 Magellan 1412 4210 Now

Nice cable for direct wire up of the Garmin Nuvi. The only awkward part is the fact that the step down transformer (black egg looking thing) is only 2 feet from the plug that goes into the Nuvi. That makes it hard to hide the cable from view. It has a small led to let you know that it is connected to power and that seems to draw a small amount of current even when not plugged into the Nuvi. Keep that in mind if current drain is a concern.

A note inside the packaging for this unit says the following: "Thank you for the purchase of the Gilsson Direct Wire Cable. Please be sure to test our Direct Wire Cable with your GPS to ensure it does not go into PC Charge Mode while connected to the power source. In certain ISOLATED cases of Garmin nuvi 205, 255W and 265W GPS receivers, customers have reported the PC Charge Mode issue.......". Well, my Garmin nuvi 205W displays a PC to GPS connection icon on the screen after about 30 seconds on this power converter, i.e. the map can't be displayed, making it utterly useless. If the power unit has known issues with certain GPS models they should not list those models as compatible with their product. Back to Amazon it goes.

Two main problems:

1) Poor quality -The unit had a intermittent open circuit at the lower strain relief connector from the unit. If I moved the cable it would make connection but would lose connection again. I knew I'd have to fix their poor wiring for the unit to have a chance of being reliable, but it didn't matter since it was incompatible with my Nuvi 255 (see next proiblem).

2) Garmin issues -The unit comes with a little slip of paper that shows that Gilsson knowingly sells this product with a problem that it goes into PC charge mode when connected. They claim this only occurs with Nuvi 205, 255W, and 265W GPS receivers. I have a Nuvi 255 and it does have the problem, making the Gilsson unit useless. I'm glad it works for some other customers, but for me, this was a bad purchase.

I rarely post reviews unless a product is either very good or very bad. This one is in the bad category. Beware.

Ok, so I was looking for something to power my nuvi GPS on motorcycle. Read many reviews and picked this one. It does work well. Used ties to position voltage reducer to frame under seat. Then ran striped wires end to splice into tail light. Lastly, I ran GPS plug end under tank along existing wires and tied them down. And there you have it... Riding all day with a powered GPS on a motorcycle.

Ok I was worried that this would blow up my Zune, but it works as intended even though the unit I got had a different form factor than the picture.

I've had it at least a few weeks, charged up my Zune a few times, including twice from basically zero, and it still hasn't needed to change the batteries I put in it.

Generac 5798 XG7000E 8,750 Watt 410cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric

Generac 5798 XG7000E 8,750 Watt 410cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric StartWe recently purchased the XG7000E Generac generator after Hurricane Irene. It was very easy to assible, just had to attach the wheels and add oil (which was included). I tested it a few times under load with no problems. Just recently we lost power of 7 days due to a snow storm. We logged 90.2 hours on the generator...ran it up to 10 hours without shutting it down. This machine worked perfectly, powered everything in the house (I even did a load of laundry...but did not use the dryer). Best investment we've ever made!

I would highly recommend this unit!

I have only ran this for a few minutes to test it. Runs great. Does sound like a riding mower but...it is a big motor. Easy to assemble...the instructions were fine. I had my concerns on previous comments. I wish they had of told me that everything was already hooked up because I went through the start of the book and had to unhook and find everything just to see it was already there. Just add gas,oil and connect the battery (and it has a tag hanging off of it to connect). Seems like a very solid machine with alot of options. So far I am very impressed!!!

When the power was on I didn't need it.......same old story. I waited until the recent storms to decide I needed this and then it was out of stock. I was all set to buy the 7500W generac Model # 5943, but couldn't find one anywhere in the Northeast....NH. By the time these things were back in stock late in Janurary 2013 I re-evaluated and decided on this model simply because I liked the idea of the 410cc (pressure and filtered lube) engine ...... superior in my mind to the 420cc (splash lube) on the GP7500E.

Box arrived as expected, all parts accessible. Easily assembled (mount wheels, attach arms.) Adding oil was annoying as there isn't an easy spout, but using the provided paper cone worked.

Engine cranked, but did not start. Called tech support -just after hurricane Sandy -and got through after a reasonable wait time. As it turned out, the engine started right up as tech support was going through their diagnostics (I suspect bad gas).

Would recommend this model to other purchasers.

Bought this generator to power my house via a 10 circuit transfer switch. So far so great. Starts and stops flawlessy and runs perfectly smooth during 10+ hour durations. As of this writing I've been running this generator for 90 hours due to Hurricane Sandy. It's a little loud outside, but a non factor with the doors and windows shut. Not a problem for me since the neighbors homes are far away, but I could see this being a problem in tighter communities. Worth every penny.
