Honeywell 2000-6066 2,000 Watt 126cc 4-Stroke OHV Portable Gas Powered Inverter Generator

Honeywell 2000-6066 2,000 Watt 126cc 4-Stroke OHV Portable Gas Powered Inverter GeneratorI got this for work in a remote location with no power. We have a little station that needs heat so we purchased this to get us by in the winter. I must say when I first started this I thought it was pretty loud till I adjusted a few things. I was running my heater at to high of a setting(1500 watts) and this thing was kicking in really high. Turned the heater down a notch in wattage and it just hums along. I use a modified doghouse to store this in and it hasn't failed us yet. I would recommend this if you can't afford a Honda which of course is really expensive but much quieter. Time will tell on the durability of this thing.

Edit: Now 4 months later of every day use around 8 hours a day and it is still going strong. Highly Recommend.

We were recently hit by Hurricane Irene. The generator worked great! I was able to power up my Refrigerator, 50" TV, Dish, charge 2 cellphones and a Fan for at least 5 hrs on one Gallon. Generator is relatively quiet, even more on Eco mode. My neighbor was stunned by the size of the generator and that it didn't make that much of a noise compared to his generator.. At night, I would plug 2 fans, CPAP machine, charge my 2 phones and on echo mode, it lasted for 8 hrs. I'm very please with the work it has done, even more so now that we are in the peak of the Hurrican season.

This generator is used with my 19 foot motor home and works fine to power microwave, 8,ooo btu air conditioner /or 1500 watt heater. Can not use any of the above together as it exceeds rating of unit. However, the unit works well is easily started and is relatively quiet.

Before hurricane Sandy I ordered this and was promised delivery the day before Sandy (Mon). But Sandy got here Mon afternoon so it was not delivered until we were without power 3 day. Just telling this so you know how desperate I was for this. Got it yesterday morning, read all instructions and went to add oil. I noticed there was a little oil leaked around the filler cap when I opened the compartment. Ok, I thought they probably had to run it to make sure it worked.

So I started the unit up after a few tries and it ran rough. Speed was intermittently high then low. When I plugged even a 100 watt bulb in it the unit almost sputtered to a stop. It ran about two minutes and stopped. I tried restarting and it ran roughly then stopped with no load. I was thinking dirty gas? But it was fresh since I filled up right before the storm. I called Honeywell's 800 number in the instruction book. They couldn't help but offered 3 NJ dealer numbers. I told her many places have no power in NJ so can I have a dealer in the Midwest? She said they have no reports of NJ dealers down. Long story short non of the dealers had techs that could help because they had power problems!

Last part of the story is I finally got someone from Cox in Indianapolis, an authorized dealer for Honeywell, who said he never worked on this particular unit but typically Honeywell tests them and leaves residue in the unit while they sit on the shelf. His advice was to get carburetor cleaner and try that. At this point I'm so ticked I go buy some and it does nothing. Through my cell phone I a contacted the Amazon web site to return the unit and it said I could not! I called Amazon and in short order their rep had call tags issued. Thank you Amazon and no thanks to Honeywell.

I understand Any unit can be defective but with the Honeywell name I expected at least fair treatment. Suffice it to say I'm Amazon's customer for life and will not be buying anything with the Honeywell name for more years than I have left. Matt D'Agostino, age 65 and an Amazon Prime Member for good reason.

I bought this to only power a sump pump. and it runs a 1/2 hp sump pump just fine.

It very god on gas.

I also ran a 3hp electric chainsaw on it for two days and it worked good. Again very good on gas.

If I was looking to power up the whole house I would have looked at something bigger but this little generator is perfect for what I bought it for.

Things to note.

1st

These units idle up and down depending on the load being drawn. (to save gas)

AC motors with a high starting loads, make the engine idle down (bog) for a split second before it can idle up to supply the power needed.

So one thing that did not work was an old refrigerator. The compressor would engage then disengage before the unit could idle up and supply the fridge with enough current. I'm not sure if a new refrigerator would cause the same problem but the old one did.

2nd

I can start the unit with two pulls and restart it with one pull.

My wife who is small and in shape could not even restart the generator, she did not have enough strength to pull the cord fast enough.

Pros:

Great on gas.

Ultra portable.

Quieter then a traditional generator.

Cons:

Strength needed to pull start

Delayed power for surging motors or appliances
