I have a brand new Generac 15kw with a bad alternator the unit only has 2 hours running time on it. I was able to find a local company to perform the warranty work but the warranty DOES NOT cover transportation charges in other words, I've got to pay to have the guys come out to do the warranty work. Generac claims that this is a portable unit, and therefore they don't need to cover transportation costs. Well, the unit weighs more than 300 lbs empty, add in 20 gallons of gas, and it isn't very portable at all. I'm really disgusted to have to pay to have warranty work done on my brand new unit.My generator is 10 days old and has 11hrs of running time on it. It has run extremely rough from the beginning with any loads, and is very fuel inefficient. I've contacted the company many times with little success and lengthy wait times. Customer service is awful, all they can do is recite the company rules. I too had to pay for the service company to pick up the generator. Haven't heard back from the company but suspect that some part in this well-tested product will be defective. STAY away from this company!!!!!Brand New generator and it runs bad, engine rpm goes up and down with a load or not. VERY, VERY, bad customer service by Generac company. This company couldn't care less about your purchase or your problem. I will and our church group of 238 people will never purchase this companies generators.
Many dealers have told me that they have the same trouble with this company.
Someone should shut this company down. $2400.00 dollars spent on problems.
Amazon should drop this company and stop selling these generators but than again it's all about taking the money from hard working people. The generator came with a damaged cooling fan. We have been trying for almost 4 months to get a replacement and the official word from Generac is its "back ordered". Nothing more. I would strongly consider another brand before purchasing from a company that can not support their products.Bought this generator on line, Have used it to power the whole house and it did great. Fuel used matched what they said it would. At 9000 watts it was half loaded and did great. A 3/4 HP water pump started up in addition and it handled the load perfecty. It will use more fuel then smaller generators but that is to be expected as it has a lot bigger motor and generator.
Good construction, Well built, heavy but built to last. Rating of watts is 15000, some manufactures would have rated it at 22500....
12 below zero and starts right up. Best safety net a person can buy.
