I've seen several charging units and this is one of the better quality designs. We have it on the outside of the building and the seals are very tight.Does a great job, well built, but very expensive for what you get. Easy to modify for portability and built to with stand travel.Want AeroVironment Residential EV Charger, 15' cable (Level 2 EVSE-RS: 7.2kW, 30A) Discount?
Having recently purchased a Nissan LEAF I was in need of a home charging station since they don't recommend routinely using the 110 volt trickle charger that comes with it. After looking at a range of units at varying prices I decided to not take any chances and go with the unit that Nissan recommends and has worked with. The price on Amazon is attractive (cheaper than other sources). I did my own installation since I am comfortable working with electrical installations. The only thing one must recognize is that you will probably have to install a new 220 volt service dedicated to this device circuit breaker and wiring. Pulling in a new 8 gauge cable is a challenge if you have to go very far and might be best left to the pros. My installation is adjacent to the C/B panel so was not too bad. So far the unit works great and I am fully charged up in no time.
