It does an excellent job at charging. You know it's on because of the light it has built in. It goes flush against the DC plug.

This is a nice USB car charger with a cable for the Apple iphone, fit for iphone 4s and other ipods. I understand the iphone 5 has a different type of charger but if you have an adapter that will allow it to fit the old types of charger then this will work fine for you.What I like about this is that it is not just a car charger for iphone/ipods. Since it has a USB port, anything that you can charge with a USB cord can be used for this charger.
It is also very fast at charging up my phone and I have not had any problems with it. The charger itself is made well and I can see it lasting, unlike some other car chargers that I have had.
I have seen some chargers that have two USB ports so it would be nice if there was an extra port for another device that the person may have.
Overall, I'm satisfied with this and it is reliable and have had no issues.When driving, I use my iPhone for GPS and connecting to the stereo/hands free via Bluetooth. Both drain the battery significantly. I had several car chargers which for one reason or another stopped working. This Belkin charger has exceeded my expectations. My favorite thing about this charger is at the sync cable comes off the charger and can change any USB device. I find this great for traveling as I no longer need to bring a seperate sync cable for my iPhone/ipad. I also like that I can charge other USB devices such as my nook, with this charger.

My poor old Saturn didn't have a USB port. My new Hyundai Elantra does. The Belkin Charge/Sync Cable has a USB Connection that can be inserted into the Elantra's USB port. The cable's 30-Pin Male Connection can then be inserted directly into my Apple iPhone 4's 30-Pin Female Connection. The ensuing connection, however, is loose but the cable still works properly. The cable's 30-Pin Male Connection should have buttons on its side that can be depressed before inserting into the iPhone's 30-Pin Female Connection; once the cable is inside, the buttons can be released, creating a tight, unbreakable connection. When the connection between the iPhone and Elantra has been established, the LCD screen displays: "Reading Media." I can now play the music on my iPhone and hear it through the speakers, which have controls for changing volume, jumping ahead to another song, etc.The iPhone charges while it is connected to my Elantra via the Charge/Sync Cable. However, if my iPhone needs charging and I have another electronic device connected to my Elantra's USB port, I can use the Belkin Micro USB 1 Amp Car Charger to turn my cigarette lighter into a USB port. This USB port will charge my iPhone but it will not play any music that has been downloaded to my iPhone.
