I ordered these for the features, weather channel, water resistant etc. I had an issue from the get go: One would not work after charging unless you remove the battery and re-installed it. My biggest gripe is the range. I did not expect anything near the "30 mile max" but 1.25 miles (via GPS) is pretty poor. At 1.5 miles all you could hear us the call tone. My test was in a fairly flat FL forest area.

As an Amateur (Ham) Radio (K6OL) and Navy MARS (NNN0BJB) Operator, this car charger for my MacBook Pro is a "MUST HAVE." Now I don't have to worry about where the nearest power source will be at the end of my 10 hour battery life on my MacBook Pro. Now I'm able to use my MacBook Pro 'in the field' as long as I need. Once I plugged it in, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that there were NO power surges, or a noticeable drain (however sight) on the internal battery after it was plugged into my vehicle's power source.

Secondly, I was impressed that the order was processed and shipped promptly. I was even more pleasantly surprised to receive the package TWO days sooner than what I was initially informed by the automated system @ Amazon.com.

Frankly, I'm a bit perplexed when I recall my numerous conversations I've had with the Tech Support 'geeks' at APPLE and the APPLE STORE, and Best Buy. Not one person (including supervisors) knew anything about any product that would allow me to operate my MacBook from a 12 v power source OTHER than a 12 VDC to 110 VAC converter which is not only dangerous (fire hazard) but a complete waste of power.

Yes, this was my first order from Amazon. NO, I do not work for them nor was paid or had any incentives offered for my review.

I look forward to ordering through this venue again and hope I have the same experience.

It works just as I hoped it would. The wire is long enough and it has an indicator light to show it has contact.

In the past 7 months I have returned two of this charger. It stops working if you use it often. I have a Volks Wagen Camper, so I have to often recharge my battery. Both Units Failed after a few months of use.

left my key on, my honda's battery is only 1 year old, it was almost dead, but it barely started, drove it around for about am hour running here and there. Then I hooked this thing up, set it to 6 amps (turtle?) and it said it would go to float charge after it was charged. After about 2 or 3 hours, I went to the garage and it smelled like battery acid, and I could here the battery boiling. Put the fluke meter on it ... 16.1 volts!!! I did some research, and the max equalizing charge voltage should be is 15.5v No way, its going back.

One hour into the first use sparks flew and the unit was smoked. Returned the XC10 and now I'm trying the XC6.

I didn't buy it through Amazon, but that really doesn't matter.

This charger in my opinion, and by at least one other account is dangerous at best.

It doesn't know when to stop charging, and if it wasn't for another review so I knew what to look for, would have fried my battery.

Not to mention after a 45 min test on a battery that was freshly charged by a different charger smelled like it was ready to fry itself.

This is why Amazon should have a negative star rating, one star is being way to gracious.

Manufacturer should try putting words instead of pictures, as well as some sort of concise instructions on unit. Whenever I use it, I have to go on internet and find instructions.

This item is requires a charger, but Kawasaki does not offer a charger, thus the battery is useless unless you have a charger from a previous tool. Kawasaki stopped making the slide charger, but not the slide battery.

Bought this as a 120 volt back up for my laptop plug in charger when I was on the road. Just planned on using it if no other choice was available. I have practically used it non stop for 7 months with it never even leaving the cigarette lighter port. It stays plugged in and on 24/7 and has never acted up once. *UPDATE 9-23-2012 Still working at least 5 to 6 hours a day. Updating because the little micro cooling fan in it started to chirp as if the bearings in it are about to fail. Looks easy to repair, fan for it is $2 and likely a hour of my time. The unit itself puts out over 200 watts for quiet a while running 3 laptops for sometimes 2 to 3 hours straight. I am still impressed it has handled 3 full drops from a semi truck seat to concrete and has cracked the plastic but in almost 2 years worked great.

That's all, maybe the first thing is a toolbox, the second one is this converter. This is the only one with 140W, enough to power up a laptop, for instace. (others are not able to supply enough energy).

Cons:

-the female adapter is just for US plug. A multi-shape female adapter (Latin America, Europe, Australia, etc) will be definitely a great plus going from 9 points to 10!!.

Pros:

All you can imagine with an electrical outlet inside you car.

This is an great portable solar power system for vehicle borne back country trips. I gave it a 4 Star rating because the system's weight is heavy.

This is not something that you would want to put in a back back. Functionally, it is an excellent product. I have also purchased the 7 Watt Solar panel for day hikes and the 27 watt folding panel which is much lighter than the Solar Briefcase, The folding solar panel will be used for longer humps.

good way to start in a portable solar system that has plenty of power for a base camp or power outage at home etc. these are big panels, like size of an open laptop laid out flat so not a "toy" miniature setup.

edit: someone asked if it will power a hairdryer no it will not but it will run it on a cool / air only setting. I ran my wife's tourmaline ion hairdryer over 5 minutes on battery pack and still had 60% power showing, spiking back up to 80% when I turned it off (daytime, charging in sun still). HTH!

I a very happy with this product. I am a little worried about how often I will have to replace the battery, but after several months, so far so good. The solar panel is a little heavy, but seems to we'll constructed and is working great.

It does charge your phone a little. But don't leave your battery inside because even though you keep the device "off" (it has 3 switches, off, light, and charge.), the device will drain batterys' juice.

Like I said, works good for the price! the only complaint I have is that it does not power big charge devices such as iPads. Also it drains the power out of the battery's fairly quickly but enough to give you item a good charge. All in all I would recommend this for emergency use only and not for an everyday charge.

I ordered this and it didn't work. Don't waste your money, when you plug your phone in it doesn't charge it. I ended up going to a local store and spending about $30 (Radio Shack) to buy this type of product. More $, but at least it works.
