eForCity 12V DC TO 110V AC POWER ADAPTER INVERTER FOR CAR OUTLET

eForCity 12V DC TO 110V AC POWER ADAPTER INVERTER FOR CAR OUTLET
  • Converting DC power outlet into an AC power outlet (with DC power) for some small electronic appliances.
  • Just plug this inverter in to any 12 Volt DC power outlet, like those found in a car, RV or boat.
  • An intelligent sensor checks with the output/input compatibility with your electronic device. When the LED lights up, that means the converter can power the device. If the LED light does not illuminate, disconnect the electronic device from the converter.
  • Input: DC 12V / 500mA. Output: DC 100V-240V. Max Output Power: 5W
  • NOTE: Not for large electronics like laptop computers, DVD players, printers, etc.

I received this item, pluged it into the car, and it didn't work. Not at all, nothing. Piece of junk.

I bought this to act as a DC to AC converter that could run off of a 9 volt battery. Worked well enough that I'm buying a second one. It will work fine in a car also, you just have to remember that it's meant for low current. It would probably charge a cell phone, but nothing with a high draw such as a laptop.

I should've asked if it also charged devices not just keep them on. It is convenient and useful but not what u was looking for

Want eForCity 12V DC TO 110V AC POWER ADAPTER INVERTER FOR CAR OUTLET Discount?

This did not work for what we needed oh well now am just wasting words sorry and need even more

I bought this because I wanted to power a 2watt a/c clock off of a 12v battery. First, I plugged in the converter and then I plugged in the clock and nothing happened. So I took out my volt meter and measured the output voltage of this "inverter". It measured 182 volts DC, not AC. I feel like I got ripped off.

If you are looking for a low power inverter that converts 12v DC to 110 AC, then look somewhere else. This is a scam. The box that I received this device in said DC to DC.

Delphi SA50000 XM SKYFi Radio Receiver

Delphi SA50000 XM SKYFi Radio Receiver
  • Large display shows channel number, channel name, artist name, song title, and channel category
  • Plug-and-play connectivity works great with home kit, car kit, and boombox options
  • Remote control delivers convenient channel navigation
  • Delivers more than 150 high-quality, XM satellite radio stations
  • Measures 4.7 x 2.9 x 1.3 inches (W x H x D)

The SA50000 is well-worth the money. It's a bit bulky compared to the Roady 2 but you have to remember that the Roady is for car audio use only. The SA50000 can be installed on a boombox/indoor unit or in the car so you get both functions with this receiver. When you buy this receiver, there are no accessories included except the remote. Use a C2032 battery to power the remote. So before you head out and buy this, don't forget to buy the battery. I had to open one of my old motherboards and pulled out the battery. I don't think it's mentioned on the packaging about what type of battery it uses. So I'm saving you all a headache and telling you. Ok let's start off with the installation. I bought a Delphi Boombox to hook up the receiver. To actually review this product, I would have to review the boombox as well cos without a boombox or car adaptor, this receiver is useless. So...installing the receiver is quite easy on the boombox. The boombox has a cradle that catches the receiver. Be careful not to force the receiver into the cradle mount. Just slide the receiver into the cradle. The contact pins should catch the receiver in the cradle, and then lightly push the receiver forward. Push the receiver on the top-most part of the device. Push the receiver until it clicks. To unseat the receiver, just push it again and it will make a faint click. Pull the receiver off gently.

Now, to activate. It's really a painless process. Make sure that the receiver is hooked up and seated properly in the boombox cradle. Ok, power-up the boombox and receiver. Just have your credit card ready, a pen, and a piece of paper. Once the receiver is powered-up, go to Radio ID channel. To switch channels, use the rotary dialer until it says Radio ID. It should give you the Radio ID number. Copy it and then activate it online. Activation fee via online is about $2.00 less than if you activate it over the phone. Once you get a message on the XMradio activation page, go back to your receiver and start looking for the channels, starting with channel 1,4,5,6,7, then 122. You can also use the number keys to switch channels. The ENTER key is that big button on the rotary dialer's hub. If after activating it, you don't get any sound from the channels I mentioned, please don't blow a gasket. Give it like about 30 mins. for the satellite to update your receiver. After about 30 minutes, you should be getting most if not all 120 channels.

Now the remote...well one thing is missing on the remote and that's the MENU key that's found on the receiver. Maybe it's somewhere on the remote but I haven't found it yet. Remote is fairly straightforward operation. As for the boombox, it comes with an antenna. It has a 20 ft. cable. I suggest you put the antennae close to a window in your house. It says to look for the southern part of the house to get best results. I didn't bother looking for itcos how many people here in US know exactly where the south part of their house is? Anyways, get the antenna on an elevated position and turn it towards the window. The receiver has a function that will tell you the signal strength of the satellite waves and the terrestrial repeater waves. You can access this by going to MENU and then scroll down to Antenna Setup. If you see four-bars filled for satellite and three bars filled for terrestrial, then you are GOOD TO GO. The boombox packs a wallop! The sound is crisp, tight, and powerful. I have it at level 20 volume and it's shaking my lounge. I don't know what the max volume is and I won't even try it. The boombox comes with a humongous sized power adapter to power your receiver and boombox. Overall, the SA50000 is a fantastic receiver, it's easy to install, activate, and it gives a nice clear sound and signal. My suggestion is buy SA50000 and keep it for home use only. If you want to have a satellite radio for the car, I suggest you get the Roady 2.

Buy Delphi SA50000 XM SKYFi Radio Receiver Now

I was researching recently on which satellite radio system I should get. I came across two choices: XM radio or Sirius Satellite radio. XM offers 130 channels while Sirius offered something like 110 channels. XM was also 9.99 while Sirius was 12.95. By comparing I decided to get the XM Delphi because of the number of channels and for the monthly price. So far its been awesome, music is crystal clear and is everything people made it to be. The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it isnt 100% commercial free. I would say its in the range of 95% commercial free. It has any genre your looking for, including 12 news channels (MSNBC, NBC, ABC, BBC etc...), 3 Comedy Channels, and Automated Weather Channels.

I purchased the home kit simply because my home theatre system is fully compatible. So far no problems I highly recommend this product. If you are planning on purchasing this product, the activation might be a little complicated. If you activate over the Internet its 9.99 or over the phone for 14.99. Technical support is very poor for this product, however rarely will it glitch or have a problem.

XM Radio, what can I say it was the first and still remains number one in sales and stock for Satellite radio! And those baseball fans out there, XM will have EACH and EVERY MLB game starting from the spring training up to to the world series! It doesn't matter if you're a Dodgers fan living in NYC or your local market does not play your team (there are no blackouts where they block the game), you'll hear your team!

Did I mention XM has FOUR channels with Christmas songs? One with tradational, another with contemporary, another with country and the last (my favorite) is songs like the Chipmonks, Muppets, Barney, (you know all those non-tradational songs we all love).

Ever listen to the radio and say "hey what's the name of that song?" Well no more doing that with this receiver as it displays the song title and singer! Plus you can hit the memory button and it'll store it for you!

Me I have the SA5000 SKyFi with the Delphi SA1001 Boombox. XM has a VERY strong signal (stronger than any other), so much that I have the antenna on top of the table in my bedroom (signal must go through walls, and part of another house) to reach me. Now that's strong! Weather does not effect the signal, and it does not fade like AM/FM radios. You either get the signal (again I'll bet you will) or you don't. Just be sure to face the antenna south (if you're using it in the house).

What I like about XM is the upcoming MLB (trust me you'll hear more about this as spring comes), and the receiver allows you to keep 20 channels. There's a Decades (I enjoy the 80's), country, hits, christian, rock, urban, jazz&blues, Lifestyle, latin, world, classical, kids, news (has all the news like FOX, CNN, CNN Headline, MSBNC, CNBC, BBC), sports, comedy (3 comedy one of them has funny talk shows), talk/entertainment (Rollye James, Art Bell/George Noorey, Alan Colmes, Mike Medved, Bruce Williams, MIke Gallalgher), Traffic Weather, Special Events and Premium (Playboy and Opie and Anthony).

And did I mention that with XM you'll be hard pressed (or have to listen 24/7 for days on end) to ever hear a repeat song!!

What's real good is that you can listen to your tunes/show and scroll through and then go to whatever channel and see what's currently playing, PLUS with the weather you can either scroll or tune to the weather channel you want (have all the major cities) and see the curren temp., conditions and any road or emergencies as in traffic, etc. XM is the only one that has this!

And you get a remote control that gives you FULL control of your radio, including the volume! Even has a mute button! The display is a orange/amber color.

Personally I enjoy listening either with the lights out or dimmed down as XM lights up and the information on the screen and buttons make it very calming and cool to watch while listening to my favorite shows!

You can't go wrong with this receiver! Nor will you find this price anywhere! Look around at your local stores or other online stores! It's basically for free!

Want Delphi SA50000 XM SKYFi Radio Receiver Discount?

Satellite Radio Good. If you spend much time in the car I would almost say it is a must have. The channel variety, super clear reception. Gotta love it.

Delphi Bad. The first Skyfi I received did not work at all. The replacement worked for a while but now the tuning knob functions erratically. It will skip stations and if you land on a station for more than a few seconds it will automatically change the channel. The volume knob on the boom box no longer works as intended. No matter which way you turn it the volume goes down. If it wasn't for my remote control both the receiver and boom box would be completely worthless. Speaking of the remote control. The clip mounted to the back of the remote control is inserted under the battery cover. Occasionally when trying to clip the remote to something the clip will pop off and take the battery cover and sometimes the battery with it. What a heap of junk.

I will never purchase anything from Delphi again. If that means I have to switch satellite providers so be it.

This is a replacement for the original that has been eaten by the jungle.

Good product, good delivery and the price was right.

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Elec

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric StartPowerMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 6.5 HP OHV Gas Powered Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start (CARB Compliant)

We live in Southern Louisiana, smack-dab in the middle of hurricane alley, and decided to purchase a backup generator to deal with power outages in the event of an emergency. I wanted sufficient power capacity to run our refrigerator, a small portable AC, a few lights, a small TV, charge our cell-phones, and occasionally charge laptop batteries. We figured that around 3000 continuous watts and 4000 surge watts would be sufficient for our needs.

There are several generators sold by the hardware chains (Lowe's, Home Depot) that fit this description, but they're priced around $600 $700. After some research on the internet, we decided that the PowerMax XP4400 would match our needs, and suit our budget. Just before purchasing it, on an impulse I decided to get the model with the battery powered electric starter, instead of the one that has a rip-cord. Our purchase price (on eBay from MaxTool the same company selling them on Amazon) was $469.99, including a cover for the generator, and shipping.

The generator was shipped Fedex Ground and took about a week to arrive. The external cardboard box showed signs of rough handling during transportation, but the generator was well packed in foam, and not damaged during shipping. The whole box weighs about 130 lbs, and it helped me considerably that the Fedex driver wheeled it right into our garage. Unpacking took about 20 minutes. There are a couple of shipping braces that support the engine during shipment that take a little while to remove.

The first thing I did was to flip the generator upside-down on a mat to install the wheel-kit. There are tools provided with the generator to get the wheels and handles on. As shipped, the tires were sufficiently inflated to bear the weight of the generator.

After flipping the generator right way up again, I filled it with SAE30 oil. We live in a relatively warm climate, so I chose 10W30. If you use generator oil, make sure you chose oil made for a four-stroke engine. The oil-fill tube is awkwardly placed I have a funnel with a tube at the end out it, and found that I had to use it to avoid spilling oil. It takes about 20 oz of oil. To condition the engine, I would suggest changing the oil after 6 hours of run-time, then twice after 8 hours, and every 20 30 hours beyond that.

After filling it with gas (there is a mesh fuel-filter underneath the gas cap, I turned the fuel valve on, and started the generator. The engine turned right away, but wouldn't start. This turned out to be an error on my part it dark, and what I thought was the fully-off position for the choke was instead the fully-on position. After moving the choke to the correct position(fully-off), the engine started up. It is pretty smoky and sputters until the choke is opened. After that it runs very smoothly, with no visible smoke in the exhaust. I don't know what the noise level is, but it is sufficiently low that it doesn't bother me when the generator is running outside the house, and I am on the inside.

The control panel has two 120V outlets (20 Amp), and one 30 Amp outlet that is switchable between 120V and 240V. There is also a 12V outlet to charge a car battery. There is a circuit breaker and a voltmeter. During my initial tests, between 60 watts and 2400 watts of load the voltage stayed at 115 volts, and didn't drop. I haven't tested higher loads yet.

So far, we are quite satisfied. The PowerMax XP4400E is built well, works well, and is less polluting that more expensive Honda, Subaru, and Yamaha powered units sold at the hardware chains.

And a little tip for any small engine that is run infrequently. Make sure you mix the fuel with some anti-oxidant such as Stabil before putting it in the tank. Gas mixed with anti-oxidant should last for about one year.

Six month update (August 2009) the generator still works like a champ. Some of the bolts worked themselves loose through the vibrations, so I've tightened them. No other major problems.

Eighteen month update (September 2010) no problems yet. But I finally got around to installing a transfer switch to connect the generator to the main breaker panel in our house. I recommend this highly it is far better than running cords all over the place, or back-feeding the main panel, which is illegal and very dangerous for linesman working on the utility company's lines. Reliance Controls makes a pre-wired six-circuit transfer switch (31406/30406) that is perfect for this generator and is available from Amazon. Took me about 3 hours to install, 2 of which were spent flush-mounting it in the drywall.

Thirty month update (August 2011) no major problems. I hadn't run the generator for a long time, but with hurricane season here, it was time to change the oil, fill it with gas, and make sure it still worked. The oil looked clean, but had only been used about 8 hours since the last change (a year ago). The electric start wouldn't work (battery was run down), and I flooded the engine. The rip-cord start worked on the second or third pull. I ran the generator for an hour, and will test whether that was sufficient to charge the battery within a week or two. It would have been wiser to unhook the battery while the unit was in extended storage.

Update (November 2011) first problem with generator. One of the tires was flat when I pulled it out today to power the leaf vac for the backyard. I hoped it was just a question of the air leaking out, but the dang thing wouldn't retain air when I filled it. For now, I've sealed the leak with a few squirts of tire sealer/inflator, but I don't know if it will hold. A new tire is anywhere from $20-30, and replacement tube is about $10. The generator engine/windings themselves work fine.

42 month update (August 2012) getting ready for Hurricane Issac. Generator fired up and ran under load perfectly. I hadn't run the generator since November of last year, so I had to pull-start it and was charged within an hour. However, the green slime no longer works to fix the flats in the tires, so I had to get two new tires. Harbor Freight has some inexpensive ($7.99/ea, item 47638, 8" non-marring rubbing tire) inflatable tires that are the same spec as the tires this generator came with (270 lbs maximum weight load at 30 psi), expect they're a relatively bright pink-red. So far after almost 4 years, my maintenance costs have been limited to generator oil and two tires. That's not bad for a generator in this price range.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this generator. It is definitely a good value for the money. The FedEx guy delivered it in good condition. The packaging was excellent. I pulled it out of the box, installed the wheel kit (5-10 minutes), filled it with fuel and oil and it started right up. It is fairly quiet for a generator, but keep in mind quiet is a relative thing. I would say it is definitely quieter than a lawn mower or a typical Briggs&Stratton generator with a lawnmower type muffler (this generator has an automotive type muffler which helps keep the noise down).

It seems to be pretty well built and I expect it to hold up just fine. I bought it as an emergency backup generator and I feel it really is perfect for that use. I think if you are looking for a generator that will get a ton of regular use, you would probably be better off to spend the extra money and get a Honda. But for something that will only see occasional use, this genny really fits the ticket.

I plugged a Killowatt into it to monitor the voltage and load and found that it puts out 120V at 60HZ with no draw. As you start to increase the load, it holds the 60HZ very well right up to the top end of what it can deliver. The voltage starts to drop some as you significantly increase the load, but still manages about 110V or so.

The published numbers are not really too realistic but that is pretty common for small portable generators. It is supposed to handle 3500 watts continuous and 4400 watts surge. In actual testing here is what I found it able to do:

0-2500 watts: it works really well. The voltage and frequency are fine and its seems to be perfectly happy in this range.

2500-3000 watts: frequency holds steady at 60HZ but the voltage starts to drop to 110V. You can tell is is starting to struggle as the load approaches 3000 watts.

3000-3300 watts: you are at the top of its capability here. It does handle it but the voltage drops more and the frequency starts to drop below 60HZ. I would personally operate in this range only for short periods of time.

>3300 watts: it really bogs down significantly and any additional load causes the engine to quit.

So, overall I do highly recommend this generator, especially if you are looking for an emergency backup generator. Just keep in mind that its published wattage numbers are a bit overstated. If you are expecting it to be a Honda, you will be disappointed, but considering what it costs I think it is a very good deal for the money.

Buy DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Elec Now

By Ernie, Retired Journeyman Lineman. The XP4400E is well worth the extra cost over the XP4400, as starter rope must be pulled out at an angle.

This is an excellent generator for the money. The voltage regulation is excellent. Amazing output for it's size along with being very quite for the output that it has. The discription Amazon has for it is great, so many items are not discribed well enough. There is a couple points I want to share with present owners and would be owners.

(1) The voltage selector switch not only changes the voltage monitor 120 to 240 but it's main function is tap changing, this being the reason it must not be switched unless breaker is off (open) or generator shut down. It parallels the two power windings when set for 120 to the 120 sockets and the 120-240 socket. You can draw full capacity fron the 120 sockets or at the 120-240 socket from terminals Bu & R, the W terminal has no voltage so 240 is not available now. (Refer to owners manual wiring diagram page 23 or 24)

Set for 240 the switch series the two power windings and now the 120 sockets have only one power winding applied and so half capacity is available here, 1750 watts from either one but only 875 watts each if both are used. The 120-240 socket now has both windings in series and now has 240 from terminal W to Terminal R and will have two 120 circuits, one from terminal W to terminal Bu and the other 120 circuit from Bu to R. Full capacity is available with the 240 voltage and half capacity from each of the 120 circuits. (Bu is the common terminal to both sockets)

(2)It isn't specified the engine has a steel cyinder sleeve and I don't think it does as I run it for 6 hrs. and changed oil and the oil in the drain pan was pretty well loaded with aluminum and silicon swirling around. I will change again after 12-14 hrs. and then every 20 then on. A filter would have been a boon for engine life, but be diligent and change oil often and it will run a long time.

I think some have gotten generators and done them in early because they didn't change oil in time. Very, Very important because the cyinder is aluminum and no oil filter. More power to all, Ernie Wireman

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I just received this via UPS. The box was damaged and when I opened it, I can see that the arm bracket is bent. I decided not to even take the generator out of the box. As this product is listed as "non-returnable" by Amazon, let's see how the return/exchange process works... I posted a packaging feedback photo to show the condition of the carton upon arrival.

Update: Amazon arranged for pickup and shipped a new one out promptly. Thank you Amazon. However, after assembly and filling with gas, I moved it outside to start it up. I was disappointed to find that the gas tank leaks badly at the gas gauge when the generator is tilted to move it on its wheels. Now that it is filled with gas, let's see what the manufacturer will do for me. Stay tuned...

Maxtool (the manufacturer)shipped the "new" gauge quickly and it arrived today. The one that arrived was rusty and did not include the decal (empty full) but works better than the old one.

FYI, when I removed the old one, it appears that the gauge was damaged in assembly. The plastic part that the screws go thru was cracked by both screws and the glass window was loose. It would appear that to much torque was applied to the screws cracking the plastic part and allowing the glass to be loose and the gas to leak. I will update again when I use it shortly.

Update 2: I used it and it worked well albeit a little noisier than I'd hoped. It did the job though and as such would move the rating up to 2 stars or higher pending more usage/testing.

After 10 months of usage, note the following:

1) Have had to replace the solenoid for the electric starter twice as it has failed twice. My warranty is up in less than 2 months...you can bet I'll be testing solenoid replacement #2. I wonder if lemon laws apply to generators?

2) Changed the spark plug to find out that the OEM plug & gap does not match either plug listed in the manual. Makes you wonder what plug/gap works best in the generator.

3) After the solenoid failed and waiting for replacement #2, the generator failed to start with pull starter. Checked the air filter to find it was saturated with oil. Removed the head cover to find oil in the head. Note, oil was changed and level was maintained correctly. Cleaned head and will monitor oil leak.

4) An extended warranty would be helpful given the amount of problems we have had during the warranty period. However, an extended warranty is not available.

The one thing I will say in MaxTool's favor is that MaxTool does have a good customer service person and he replies promptly and clearly to inquiries. However, if you are not handy with basic engine skills, stay away from this generator or plan to pay for repairs.

  • Fits top and side post batteries
  • Ergonomically designed handles
  • Engineered for warm and cold climates
  • Polar-Glo polarity labels glow in the dark
  • Made in America

These are well-made and manufactured in USA!! There is not much to say about jumper cables, but some of the ones you see at automotive parts stores are pretty flimsy and the conductors look like they are significantly smaller than the gauge marked on the packages. These 6-gauge are suitable for cars with medium size batteries such as compacts or older models. For a new sophisticated car with lots of electronics and a big battery (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc.), I suggest 4-gauge cables instead.

These cables are a good value. They work well enough if you're attaching them to automotive battery terminals; however, the jaws don't close together far enough to bite onto motorcycle/powersports type terminals, which limits their versatility.

After accidentally including my last set of jumper cables with the sale of my last car, I was in need of new ones!

These are long and heavy duty probably overkill for my 1.4L engine, but if you needed to jump a truck, they would be great. The whole assembly is well put together, with good, solid connections from the handles to the cables. They have worked great on a hybrid Highlander and Chrysler 300 (co-worker left the dome light on in the company car...).

If you don't have a lot of space though, skip this set since they are not small.

I have not actually used these yet. I purchased them after having had need of them and not having any. The clamps are tight and cord is a good length. The only thing I don't like is that there is an opening under where you hold the clamps that has a bear wire on the other side. I am not sure if you would be able to touch it through the very small slit but it is something that I have kept in my mind. Over all pretty good quality. Not the kind you would use everyday.

Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th G

Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad, iPad mini, iPod Touch, and iPod nano AMP/10 Watt)
  • Ultra-compact
  • Plugs into any car power outlet
  • 10 Watts/2.1 Amp
  • Includes separate 4 foot Lightning to USB cable
  • Powered USB port

Even without any reviews here, this one fits the bill for me. After reviewing various Lightning chargers from Griffin, Kensington, and Belkin, I chose this one for a some key reasons.

2.1 AMP OUTPUT: This ensures I have the maximum electrical output available. FYI: 2.1 amps multiplied by 5 Volts DC = 10.5 watts, but labels will only show 10 watts

COMPACT SIZE: This fits in a vehicle 12 volt socket well and protrudes only enough to get a good grip to pull it out with your fingers. Some products were unnecessarily long or bulky; I prefer simple.

REMOVABLE USB CORD: Instead of a hardwired connection, I have the versatility to swap out the Lightning cord with a USB to micro USB cord for my wife's phone or the USB to Apple 30-pin connector for the iPad. If you find nothing but the Apple OEM size of lightning connections fits with your phone case, you can buy this same item without the cord for less $ and use your own cord. Search: F8J051ttWHT (color white) or F8J051ttBLK (color black)

NO RING OF LIGHT: So many reviewers of products complained about the light ring feature being a distraction. This model features a simple round green LED light that is not much brighter than the console button lights in my car. I ended up twisting the light to the 3 o'clock position where the USB connector blocks my direct line-of sight to it. If I wanted to, a small piece of black electrical tape would cover the LED completely and easily since it is away from the USB connection. This is the 1 feature I valued to prefer it over the Belkin # F8J090bt04-BLK, which has the same power output and small form factor.

Is it cheap, no. But would I rather spend less and give up some these features.......no. I would have bought the version of this product less the 4' cord if a good coiled cord were available(I didn't like the Griffin coiled cord). Thanks for reading!

Buy Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th G Now

The car charger I was using before this was the Kensington K39224US PowerBolt Micro Car Charger for iPad, iPhone and iPod, including iPhone 4. Since I upgraded to the iPhone 5, I only had to buy a Apple Lightning to USB Cable to keep using that one, which is 2.1 amps, like this one by Belkin.

After using the Belkin, I would say it is comparable to the Kensington charger, but it already comes with a Lightning to USB cable, so that may figure in one's comparison of their prices if one doesn't already have a cable.

In a 30 minute drive, my iPhone 5 increased in charge from 50% to 89% using the Belkin, for an average of 1.3% increase in charge per minute. This seems comparable to my former charger.

Either product is excellent, and the fact that they can charge any of the Apple products quickly, assuming you have the proper USB cables, is convenient.

The iPhone wall outlet chargers are super-quick at charging. I have gone from 30% to 90% in about an hour. You get used to that kind of speed charging and this 2.1 AMP car charger give you exactly that! Initially, I scoffed at the price for these high AMP chargers and bought a 1 AMP car charger. Since my ride to work in less than 20 minutes, I would probably get 10% more charge off the 1 AMP charger, but with this 2.1 AMP charger, I manage to juice up about 25%. The really cool part of this charger is that I can pull out the USB cable and continue charging my phone via my laptop USB port.

The charger is well-designed and has a robust construction Apple worthy! The charger sits flush with my power outlet with just enough of it popping out to get an easy grip for removal. The charger does not have any edges, it blends well into the dash with only the distinctive green bezel being highlighted adds a little color to my drab dash. I also love the new low-profile negative (outer) terminal design. No more accidental snagging and ripping the terminal out of the charger. It also helps with a smoother insertion and removal from the power outlet.

The lightning connector is well designed and fits most cases without any issue (check images above)

Pros:

* Solid feel to the product. Well built and sturdy parts charger, cable and lightning connector

* Included USB Lightning cable

* Slim profile charger that sits flush and does not get in the way

* Fast charging almost as fast as a wall outlet charger. Approx 2.5 hours for a full charge

* Well designed lightning connector fits most cases without any issue

Cons:

* Pricey at $35 but not too expensive at current market rates for a 2.1 AMP charger with a reliable, detachable Lightning cable

* The charger has a Green LED that remains on when the charger is connected. It seems inefficient to power the gremlins. I have old USB car chargers that turn-off when a device is not plugged in, light up Red when charging and Green when fully charged I paid less than $10 for those chargers

* For a car, I prefer a coiled cable like this one, just keeps things compact Griffin Tech PowerJolt SE Coiled Lightning Car Charger for iPhone 5, Touch 5G, Nano 7G

A great little charger. Here are the Pros and the one single Con:

Pros:

Charges Fast: 2.1 amps...speedy and powerful.

Compact: Much closer to flush on dashboard than other car chargers I've used.

Active Light: A little green light is on when the charger is receiving power, so you know it is active and charging if something is plugged in.

Lightning: Obviously this is a Lightning Cable connector, and it works as advertised with my iPhone 5. The Lightning end of the cable is nice and thin, not too thick like other non-Apple Lightning cables (such as the Amazon Basics version), so it fits through my narrow iPhone case opening with no problem.

Flexible Cable: The cable itself is nice and flexible, not too stiff or hard to manage. This is important given that you will be using this in the car and need as few additional hassles as possible.

Con:

Not Fully Backwards Compatible: This charger does not appear to be fully backwards compatible to all earlier (30-pin) iPods as advertised. Belkin claims "As long as you have the corresponding cable, you can use the charger with legacy 30-pin Apple devices." But this doesn't appear to be completely accurate. I base this on attempting to swap the Lightning cable for a USB 30-pin cable which I use with another Belkin charger and then attempting to charge my iPod Classic. It did not work, and that's a bummer. But I like this charger so much otherwise that I will not downrate it for this. However it would have been nice to use this charger with my iPod Classic. It is worth being aware of this if backwards compatibility is a necessary feature for you. It may well work with other 30-pin devices, so I'm still giving it 5 stars for what it does do, because it does it so well.

For the price and functionality this is a great Lightning Cable car charger.

When the iphone 5 came out, my husband like many I am sure ran out and upgraded all of our 4's to 5's. Well...what he didn't realize is there were hardly any chargers or accessories available for the iphone 5 devices. So we have limped through many months without a car charger. It's been one of the most frustrating things about owning the new iphone. NO MORE! The Belkin Car Charger does the trick! This will charge Apple iphone 5's. 4th generation iPads, iPad mini, iPod Touch 5th generations, iPod nano 7th generations. Right now I only use it for my iPhone 5 in the car and it works perfectly. Highly recommend this product.

The chargers work well. The headphones are cheap but work. They got four stars because you really can't beat two chargers and a pair of head phones for under 10.00. The two chargers alone are worth that and the headphones were just a bonus. Headphones have a mic and button built in that starts and stops playback / calls (LG Escape Android Phone) but no volume control. The length of headphone cord where it "Y's" starts at the mic and isn't very long which puts the mic about 3 inches from my chin. The ear pieces are not extremely comfortable but will work long enough for a work out or typical family phone call. Again, you can't compare these to more serious headphones like beats, bose, skullcandy ect.

Panasonic LC-R127R2P1 Black Large 12V 7.2Ah VRLA Battery with F2 Terminal

Panasonic LC-R127R2P1 Black Large 12V 7.2Ah VRLA Battery with F2 Terminal
  • High quality and reliability
  • Exceptional deep discharge recovery
  • Long service life
  • Quick chargeability
  • Maintenance free operation

I purchased this battery to replace the 12 year old one in my APC Back-UPS 650 surge protector/battery backup unit. It is a direct (right to the brand name and specs) replacement. The only thing I had to do was bend the terminals up just a bit more for the connectors to fit and transfer the clear tab from the positive terminal of my old battery to the new one, not a problem at all just a note for others. The clear plastic tab is held on by 2-faced tape and probably is just an extra safety device from APC. I've seen many other `unknown' name replacement batteries but didn't want to gamble the safety of my computers and other electronics for the sake of a few dollars. This battery is the one you need as a -directreplacement for any APC unit's requiring a replacement battery with a part number of either `RBC3' or `Battery Cartridge #3. This is the -SAMEmanufactured battery you will get from the backup unit manufacturer except you will get it on Amazon.com for less than half the manufacturers price delivered.

I made sure my order screen said `Ships from and sold by Amazon.com' and even with the free shipping option, I had no problem receiving the correct battery.

A point of interest: These batteries are pretty much automotive batteries and are suppose to last 3-6 years under typical situations. How my original one lasted 12 years is anyone's guess but I do *NOT* recommend you try to get that much time from one. Mine was so badly expanded it was difficult to remove from the unit for replacement. Also, I have viewed a few photos of ones that expanded to the point of rupture beyond that recommended time frame. Get your battery replacement from Amazon.com and you'll save enough over buying from the manufacturer that you'll be able to replace them on time. Enjoy!

As far as recycling the old battery, you should be able to do so for free. I searched for `battery recycling' and found that most of the auto-parts stores in and around my town take these at no cost for proper recycling. Please, do the right thing.

Definitely recommended when you get that "Replace Battery" light on your FiOS battery backup unit.

I bought this bluetooth dongle in order to enable me to have bluetooth on my tvs (always have enjoyed using headphones as opposed to standard speakers). Audio quality is great, sends the signals to my bluetooth headphones great, the battery lasts as advertised and I have had no issues with that. All and all this product does what it says it does, gives you bluetooth capability on any device with a headphone jack, as such I cannot reccomend it enough for anyone looking for that functionality.

Great little device! Plugs into audio output from old technology to make them bluetooth enabled. Saw some products out there for 4 or 5 times as much money, don't waste it! This little gizmo works great.

It took a few minutes to figure out how to pair with a set of wireless headphones. Both had to be in the pairing (lights flashing) mode. But once I got that to work its been perfect.

My 1st generation iPod is awesome again! Thanks! Get this product.

I recently decided to add a solar system to my RV, and the local dealer had a poor selection of controllers. With the installation in the RV, I did not want the panel to have exposed wiring (most controllers have the wiring attached to the front of the controller). This panel fits into my monitor panel area in the RV and can be installed as "Flush Mount". The instructions were clear and simple, they provided a template for cutting the hole in the paneling and installation was simple. It can be set to operate on Wet Cell, AGM and Gel Cell type batteries. The display shows the DC voltage, amperage (charge rate) and the status of the batteries. If you are installing solar and are going to run less than 25 amps, this is an excellent choice.

Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 Player

Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 Player
  • Compact digital media player with built-in MP3/WMA player and XM satellite receiver
  • 1 GB flash memory stores 16 hours of MP3 (128 kbps) or 32 hours of WMA (64 kbps) files
  • Receives XM's 170 channels of commercial-free programming (subscription required)
  • 1.7-inch TFT color display; stores up to 50 hours of XM programming; song "bookmarking"
  • USB 2.0 interface for quick music transfers; includes home charging cradle; 1-year warranty

I am new to the XM/satellite radio world so I don't have any legacy relative value issues compared to past or competing XM radios (e.g., FM transmitters). I can only describe my view of this product on its own merits...and I must say I've been thoroughly impressed. Browsing channels and listening to stations is easy as can be, the content is pretty solid, and the moreover, this Samsung unit looks good and works well. It is a VERY hassle free way of discovering and saving new music.

I can't get enough of the feature where if you're listening to a song or program, at any time you can hold the center button for a second and it will record the entire song (since the beginning!) and save it to memory, for listening later. It's a great way to build a library! Never again do I have to hear a song on the radio and try to guess what song it is and hope that maybe I can buy the album later. With this, I've got a pure digital copy on here, ready to go on what is effectively my portable music player!

Only drawback is that, as a satellite radio, I find that you do need reasonable access to the sky to get a signal (it starts to cut out about five to ten feet away from a window, for example). So I can't use this in the middle of a giant office building (read: my workplace). But, when I'm home the "home antenna" is connected to the docking cradle. Once in the cradle, it's plug and play and I never worry about reception. Also, I can have it record programs and whatnot for listening later...kinda like a Tivo.

Almost 3 years ago, my wife got an iPod. Three weeks ago, I got the Samsung Helix. Already, I've listened to the Helix more than she's listened to the iPod. Why is that? My wife's too busy to load up her iPod. The dirty little secret to the iPod is that, although it holds thousands of songs, to enjoy thousands of songs, you have to spend hundreds of hours loading the iPod with thousands of songs. If you do it legitimately, it will cost thousands of dollars to load thousands of songs on the iPod. Contrast this with the Samsung Helix. With the Helix, you immediately have access to all the live XM content. You can record songs from radio broadcasts automatically, and you can use Samsung's Napster service for loading via computer, similar to iPod/iTunes.

The Samsung Helix debuted a year ago with a price near $400, video iPod territory, but now it's selling for about $100, the price of an iPod Nano. At the new price, the faults of the Helix are inconsequential, and compared to the Nano, it's a steal. Let's say your iPod budget for new songs is $12/month. At the end of a year, if you play fair, you have 144 songs. If you put the same money into an XM subscription, you have access to hundreds of songs practically immediately. If you're in a hurry to get a specific song, you can buy it or load it from your PC via its Napster software.

The Ownership Experience:

I unpacked the Helix, read the directions, and charged it up. I set it to record some stations overnight, and the next morning, I had hours of fresh music to listen to. I can also listen live to over a hundred streams of music, sports, news and comedy. I can keep the songs I like, and delete the ones I don't. No sweat, no problems.

I live in an area with good ground transmitters, so even without access to the southern sky, I usually get good reception, even indoors and in my car with just the built-in antenna. For the times that I can't get radio reception, I have hundreds of songs that I have pre-recorded and stored in the Helix's half-gigabyte flash memory. The display is excellent. The battery life is good, about 4 hours. The home dock is convenient and reception is improved with the indoor antenna attached to the dock.

Nitpicks: The earbuds aren't great. It could use some more sound-contouring options. The Napster software only works with Windows machines, and I have a Mac. More memory wouldn't hurt (but I haven't run out yet.) The car cord should come with the main unit, and they shouldn't have crippled the FM transmitter. Channel preset buttons would be nice. It would be nice if it picked up AM & FM radio.

Tips you won't find anywhere else: I replaced an old XM radio, a Delphi Roady2 (that bit the dust) with this one. Don't bother going to the XM website for instructions on how to replace one radio with another, you won't find the answer there. Call their toll-free line and select the option to talk to a live representative. The live representative can add the new receiver to your account in the place of the old one. By the way, the Roady2 antenna works with the Helix, but not the AC adapter or car cord. The Roady2 remote mostly works with the Helix.

Judging by the blow-out prices in May-June 2007, the successor to this first-generation Helix may be coming out any day now. Once it hits the streets, there will be a short window where you can compare the two and either get the old one on close-out or the new one. It makes a great Father's Day present.

Update: July 2007

Now that I've had the Helix for a few months. I've learned a bit more. Around town (Indianapolis IN), I can receive signal in the car with the built-in antenna. On a long trip, however, most of the time, I had to use an external antenna. Since I don't have the car dock, I took the home-dock with me. You need the home dock to connect the external antenna, but you don't need to connect AC power to the home dock. I used the mobile antenna to my defunct Delphi Roady2.

Although the included software does not work with the Mac, according to more than one website, the Mac will recognize a Helix attached via USB as a disc, and there is limited file management available. I haven't tried this yet.

Finally, it looks like prices are going up, not down, as Samsung works through its stocks. It could be that a planned replacement is being held up due to resistance by the powers that be that don't like portable satellite radios that store content.

I purchased a Helix and find that it is a great piece of electronic hardware. However, out of the box it has a firmware glitch that causes the battery to drain overnight if it is off the cradle. The reason being is that even off, the unit is still powering the remote control receiver. A simple firmware upgrade at XM Radio fixed the problem.

Performance of the internal antenae is hit or miss. I have received great reception inside of a large grocery store while at other times it cuts out on the dash of my car. It just depends on where you are. The external antenae works great.

With 50 hours of recording time, I record channels overnight so I can listen when reception is spotty. The overall controls are easy to use. Sound quality is not CD quality, more like low grade FM. Channel selection is great.

I would recommend this product, but just be sure to update the firmware.

As a note, I learned after some research that the Inno and the Helix are made by a subsidiary of XM and sold under the Pioneer and Samsung label, so they are virtually identical. Technical support at XM was more helpfull than at Samsung

Update. I bought the Helix and it is everything I imagined and more. Sure, the FM modulator has been changed, something that really angered me but after a month of use realized that I haven't even missed it. Stop complaining about it, if you can't live w/o the fm mod, don't buy this product. The reception is as good as FM in my area (Boston) and I've had no need for the car kit, the Helix pulls in a signal all by itself. I get a signal in my office which has no windows. I get a signal with it in my pocket. In fact, I've never had trouble getting a signal, it even works fairly well in the subway. I've saved and locked over 200 songs with only 16% of my memory being taken up.

I also can't overstate my experience with Samsung's customer service. It is the best I've ever dealt with by far. No, I don't work for them or know anyone who does but they don't outsource their call centers so you speak with an American who is fluent in English. I haven't experienced customer service like Samsung's in years. Their customer service is the reason I waited for the Helix rather than buy an Inno.

The Helix is also the same price as the Inno. You can find both products for much less than the $399 retail price. If you are paying more for the Helix than the Inno, you aren't doing your homework.

This is my 4th XM radio and by far the best.

ok, I'll make it simple.

a. If you like to listen to XM radio on the go, this is the unit for portable listening.

b. Buy the headset to go with it as it improves the reception 100%, quality is good too. It works ok with the small antenna on it, but you need an unobstructed sky view.

c. You must have a clear shot to the southern sky. if you are in the area with lots of trees or buildings obstructing the southern sky, you will have issues.

d. you can listen to XM radio in Mexico or anywhere south of the USA. I just got back from Cancun and it worked great. PS XM wont' tell you that directly, but their satilite is over the equator.

e. Battery life on XM direct is about 4 hours, if you want more I suggest you get the spare battery. If you listen on My XM recordings it lasts about 810 hours. Will record up to 50 hours, depending on how you configure the memory. I recorded a mixture of channels and it was great, easy and simple. Basically I recorded live XM channels and listened to them when I was in areas of no reception with direct XM. I just set it up at night and let it record. You can also set up times for it to record.

f. Get the outside case for the unit as it will help protect it. A few dollars will help if you drop the unit.

g. It takes a few minutes to get use to how it works, but once you play with it awhile it becomes easy.

h. It states you can record songs after they have started and get the whole song, yes it can, but make sure you dont' lose satilite receiption otherwise it will not get the whole song and you have to leave it on that specific channel for about 5 mintues for it to catchup to the old song. But the function is pretty cool.

i. I use it for strictly portable use. I have a auto unit in my car with no complaints.

j. you have to have an XM subscription, and if you get the family plan, it's will cost you about $6.00 a month to have this unit. Plus you must listen to music on it at least 8 hours direct XM radio a month or it will lost any music you save from live XM.

k. you can record MP3 music of your own choosing too. instructions are simple and there is a CD that runs you thru the process. Suggest you get your XM subscriptions first before to install the software. Activiation is easy.

In general. if you are an advid XM subscriber and have XM to listen to mostly commercial free music, this is a great portable unit to use. If you think it will be used once in a while, then get a good MP3 player. Otherwise is a nice unit, durable, fun and cool... I've had it for about 6 months. Clear shot to the souther sky is critical to get good direct receiption, otherwise, don't buy it, as you will be frustrated in getting good reception.
