I'm not sure how long this will last. Had it on for nearly ten hours straight and never saw the battery bar on the iPod dip below full charge. Used it for the next three days on and off for a total of maybe 6 hours and still didn't see any change in battery level. Would be nice if it came with a car charger if your traveling to the outdoors and won't have a pc to charge it through.

I recently purchased the tunepower, even after reading the above reviews, as I do have firewire on my laptop, and, I have the ac wall charger (THAT COMES WITH YOUR IPOD WHEN YOU PURCHASE IT!) I have yet to test its full capability for holding a charge, but I have high hopes, as everyone who seems to have followed the instructions for this item, apparently gets good power from it. Read the instructions! They explain that if you plug your ipod into the tunepower (4gig and mini models) and it's internal battery is low, you will only get 4 or so hours from the tunepower, but your ipod will then be charged. Once again, read the instructions! And as for all the people complaining about the firewall charging, did you throw away your apple issued ac charger for your ipod, when you bought it? Or do you just not realise that it has a firewall port on it? And besides that, if for some reason you just never got an AC charger with your ipod. THE PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS CLEARLY STATE THAT IT REQUIRES A FIREWALL PORT ON YOUR COMPUTER, OR THE AC CHARGER THAT CAME WITH YOUR IPOD! Stop writing bad reviews for reasons that don't warrant a bad review!

Ok, so I ran my ipod mini using the tunepower for 5 hours, and the ipod battery is still full. Also, for 3 of those hours, I used my iTrip. The indicator light on the tunepower went red after about an hour and a half, but has stayed there since.

So, 5 hours, with 3 using iTrip. No bad. Will have to see if it makes 8 hours.

Great product! Remember to read the hardware/system requirements before purchasing!

I was just browsing around and thought I'd see what others thought of this item. I was expecting rave reviews from everyone. Man was I wrong.

I bought one of these about a year ago or more, and couldn't live without it. I work a 10 hour shift and my 4th Gen iPod (click wheel model with b/w lcd screen) would give out on me by about 6.5 hours. Using this, my power meter will barely drop below full after 10 hours of fairly high volume listening.

Belkin replaced my F8E464 Backup Battery Pack on warranty, after it failed, with the F8E490 TunePower. I routinely got more than 12 hours of video on my iPod using the F8E464, but I had to carry 4 AA PhotoLithium batteries, 4 spares, and the iPod recharger as well. I only do carry-on baggage on flights, and every ounce and cubic inch makes a difference considering all the gear I need to take. The TunePower offers at least 7 hours of video (with the iPod brightness turned down to about 20% this is more than adequate for in-flight viewing) before switching over to the iPod's batteries. More important, the TunePower with its charger makes for a more compact and lightweight solution than before eliminating the bulk and weight of 8 AA batteries and the iPod recharger. The ability to operate and charge both the TunePower and iPod from a single AC adapter is a benefit. The cradle is a good solution for packaging the TunePower and iPod together, and protects the power cable and jack. But, I have to take the iPod out of its protective case to use it because it offers no protection for the screen and click wheel. No big deal. Finally, the manual creates confusion about a FireWire recharging scheme there was no FireWire cable in the box, but I don't care: there's no FireWire jack on my laptop. Overall, I am very pleased with this Belkin product and think it is a real improvement over the earlier solution.

I researched the plethora of inverters on the market, and I finally decided that a pure-sine inverter was the best way to protect my MacBook Pro while I charge the battery in the car. Considering that the power adapter on my MacBook Pro is 60 watts, I felt confident that a 180-watt pure-sine inverter would be able to handle the electrical duties. I couldn't have been more wrong. Even though this Wagan inverter should be able to handle electrical devices of three times the wattage that my MacBook requires, it was unable to generate enough power to charge my laptop.

I tested the inverter with the 45-watt power adapter from my wife's MacBook Air, and the inverter WAS able to power that computer. I then tried to charge my mobile phone, and again, the inverter worked...for a short while.

Despite the very low power requirements to charge my mobile phone, the Wagan inverter started SMOKING excessively and emitted the most putrid odor--like someone was attempting to char-broil a skunk.

Needless to say, I immediately disconnected the inverter and have deemed the device a total FAILURE.

As I said in my title, the thing is a WORTHLESS, SMOKING PILE.

My disappointment in this device starts with the difficult to open clamshell packaging. Once open, the inverter felt very light and cheaply constructed. The end caps feel as though they are made with a very low grade plastic. When I plugged this device into a 12V connector in my vehicle, nothing happened. I assumed this was because the plug wasn't fully inserted. I tried the plug in five different 12V outlets several times and it just wouldn't work. On my final attempt, the little green light on the device finally illuminated. I began to smell something burning, and smoke started pouring out of the back of the inverter. I guess I could give it two stars because the ten seconds it was plugged in it did charge my phone properly. I did not get an opportunity to try the outlet. I should have listened to the bad reviews on this site.

This unit borders on being barely useful for powering my notebook computer while traveling. On road trips with my wife, the passenger pretty much stays on the computer -previewing traffic, finding good restaurants, and checking e-mail. As long as we are driving on the interstate, all is well. However if I come to a stop and the engine goes to idle, the unit alarms and then shuts down. It is a complete shutdown from which it does not automatically recover. You have to reach back and push the power button when in motion again. My prior inverters at least would come alive again when the supply voltage from the vehicle rose once the engine RPMs increased again.

Further, the 12 V cable was improperly soldered. I had to disassemble it and re-solder the wire to the tip connector. Further, the tip did not fit securely in the jack therefore I was concerned that it could come out and the hot side short to ground potentially blowing fuses in my vehicle. This required a little bit of hot-melt glue to secure it. Not a huge deal, but I should not have to repair Manufacturing defects before I put an item into use. I repaired it myself because I could do that far faster than the act of boxing it, generating a label, and shipping it back. Now if you are not comfortable with soldering of electrical connections, you may have more extensive issues.

I am currently in search of a modified-sine inverter that does not have such bad behavior.

I purchased this inverter with the intention of powering my macbook and other sensitive electronic devices in my travel trailer. The first thing I noticed when opening the package was that the dc power supply cord could easily be hooked up backwards, thus frying the unit and voiding the warrantee by the way. This is a ridiculous design flaw and strike one. Once powered up I noticed the fan was very loud and the unit had a large of amount of vibration due to the poor quality fan. Strike two. Then when I plugged in the power supply for the macbook the touch pad acted erratically. Strike three. I also noted lots of noise on the DC circuit as my HF radio was making a ton of racket. The power supply for the macbook only draws 60 watts and I had 13 volts available so I am confident it was not my system causing the poor performance.

I've had this unit for about a year now to keep my fair weather car battery up to par in the cold northeast winters. I contemplated getting one of the cheaper, brick type battery maintainers, but when I found this one, I liked the fact that it is voltage and polarity sensing. i have used this product for about 8 months now. it is used to charge 6 and 12v batteries on multiple child electric cars. fully automatic switching between 6 and 12v. all that you have to do is hook up the alligator clips and plug it in. the very easy to read indicator lights on the front panel indicate whether or not you have a good connection. they also indicate with color change from yellow to green when you reach a full charge. i use this every time to charge the small cars, i threw away the cheap chargers that came with the cars. this is so much more dependable.

to the people that have problems, are you trying to charge batteries that this product is not intended for? the manual that comes with this charger tells you what batteries (volt and amps) that you should use it for. if used as intended, this is a great charger.

If you are going to get an off-grid solar panel...THIS IS IT. I have looked high and low for the right panel and this thing out does every stinking single one of them. Mind you, this is before I even got the thing. This is just with research alone. For example, solar cells have a module efficiency rating that is anywhere from 7-18%. Pretty crappy ones have around 12%. Average ones have 14-15%. Really good ones have 15-16%. THIS ONE HAS 18%. This is the ONLY solar panel you will find out there that has a TRUE module efficiency rating of 18% (basically, how well it turns sun energy into electricity). A lot of them will try to claim that they get around 18% and such, but when you look at the actual manufacturer specs, it's only around 14%.

It also comes with a kind of glass that reduces reflection so that it can absorb as much of the sun energy as possible. It is specifically designed for some pretty heavy weather. It has MC4 connections which are easy as cake to deal with (you can get MC4 splitters and such to run these in parallel which is also easy as cake).

Believe me, I did a lot of math before purchasing this as well such as price-per-watt compared to module efficiency rate in relation to panel size, etc...and every single time, it pointed to....the Grape GS-S-100-TS. THEN, I receive it. After having some polarity "issues" and getting them fixed, I finally get this thing up and running. Well, On a really cloudy day (I live in WA...) I was pulling in 4-6 amps (not AH mind you) for two of these panels (200W total) before the MPPT controller upped it a couple more amps. That's not too shabby. I could charge about a 90AH battery in about a day or so. Then I wiped down the panels (they were getting dusty and dirty from all the rain), and a sunny day happened to emerge and wow...I'm pulling 15 amps on two panels. As long as I keep these clean, and it's at least somewhat sunny (somewhat even!) I can literally charge two 100AH batteries in parallel within 3-4 hours. I couldn't believe it. I put two 100AH batteries on it before I went to bed one night, and by noon the next day, they were both not only fully charged, but fully equalized (the controller bumps up the voltage to 15VDC to give each cell in the battery equal charge and to hit any cells that might have gotten "skipped over" so to speak).

All in all, if you are going to get any type of off grid system, or just a couple panels to have backup power, and you're willing to spend a little more cash, THESE are your panels. They are amazing. The numbers impressed me immensely, and when I received them, their performance impressed immensely.

I have two of these panels in a four panel system on my boat. I use a Blue Sky 2000e MPPT 20A controller. There are no special grounding concerns. Grape Solar indicated to me that positively grounding the frame is not necessary in an off the grid system. The instructions that came with mine indicated otherwise but I am told the new instructions have been corrected. If you are concerned I would call Grape: they were very helpful.

That said I find the performance and build very good. I would say that their low light and off axis performance is especially good so that even on cloudy bright days or early morning sun I am still getting quite good outputs. Far superior to and much smaller in size than my 10 year old Siemens 85W panels.

I heartily recommend them.

The charger does not have indication of the charging status. There is an amp meter window. I started to charge a low battery but the amp meter pointed to zero amp for a long time. I began to wonder if the charger even worked. After a few hours charging I went to back to check and saw the indicator pointed to near 3 amps. After disconnecting the charger I measured the battery. The battery had no voltage could be detected before charging and now it registered at 12 volts. Obviously the charger worked.

It would be nice if the charger had LED to indicate the status of the charging process.

First off, I didn't purchase this item on Amazon, it was a gift from a Canadian friend, so there may be some differences between my product and the one sold here. Mine is an Optimate 3+, and looks the same as the one pictured, except that its a different color. That out of the way, I can say that I bought it after the battery in my 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S lost 100% of its charge and was deemed to be dead. My Porsche dealer replaced it, not with a Porsche battery, but with an Interstate MTP-91. So I'm now being quite careful with my battery.

It is early days, but the Optimate 3+ has bee working well. It has many modes, which correspond to the different battery states that it identifies. I'm no battery expert, but it seems to have a mode for nearly every condition. It has a maintenance mode, so I can leave it plugged in permanently, aparently. I will update this review in the future as I get more experience with it. So far, it is doing what I want: charging when necessary, and keeping the battery fully charged without overcharging.

Power Bright XR-175 175 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC Power Inverter With USB Connection

I bought this inverter to power a laptop computer while in any of our vehicles and it serves the purpose very well. I like the design which goes well with my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite M645). It's very light, slim enough to easily fit in a laptop case, has a power led to let you know its on and not only plugs into a standard 12V accessory port in a vehicle but also can be used on a plane (check first to see that your seat has a power outlet). It also has over/under voltage protection (shuts off in either case) and is the only one I found that can actually deliver 175 watts of power (not just the temp surge wattage). Granted I haven't actually put that to the test, but all of the other inverters I looked into in this class delivered less continuous power if you read the fine print. If I find out different with this one, I'll edit this review (and I'll also be in touch with PowerBright as this is what they advertise...).

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the outlet does not grip the AC plug from the device very securely. Its good enough as long as you don't pull on the cord which you shouldn't do anyway. Otherwise its a very nice product and I would recommend it to anyone with a similar need.

This is my first inverter from Power Bright, but I have to say, I'll be a repeat customer. I use this little guy to run an air pump that draws something like 174 Watts, just under the max. And that pump runs for maybe 15 minutes straight to fill up my giant float. Usually in the hot sun. This little engine-that-could has never skipped a beat. I admit I was surprised how hardy this thing is given its tiny footprint. Uploaded a picture of it next to an iPhone 4 for a size comparison (the stock photo looks like a 100 photoshoped to look bigger).

The only negative thing i have to say about it is that the chords that come with it are short and seem a little cheap. But that's a nit since the unit is quality.

I did some research and really liked the size and style of this item. When it arrived, it worked great. It rode around in the car, sometimes in use and sometimes not in use, for 2.5 months. Yesterday I tried to use it and found out that it was completely dead. No fan, no lights, nothing. I don't know what might have caused it to stop--I'd been out of town for a month and the car with the unit was parked in the garage. I'm really disappointed because I liked it up until yesterday. I'm inclined to go back to a Black and Decker unit that we've had for quite a while and used in the other vehicle.

I recently purchased a new car and wanted to have some permanently mounted USB plugs, so I ordered up two of these. Since my car has an open cockpit, I needed something that was waterproof and looking through the motorcycle realm is a great way to ensure that's the case.

The workmanship and quality seem good on these adapters, they come with sufficiently long cables that they're easy to attach and position pretty much where ever you'd like. The actual USB plug has a rubber cover that protects it and gives it it's weatherproof (not waterpoof) rating. I was able to mount it under my dash, so I doubt it will ever be an issue, but it is something to consider when installing it on a motorcycle. I also installed it so it was downward facing, so if water was to drip on it, and the cover wasn't on it, that it wouldn't go into the actual USB plug, but just on the outer housing.

All and all a good price and well made, simple to install and does exactly what I want.

Great concept, however don't like that the LED indicator stays on all the time, probably if I found a way to connect to the ignition power supply so it cuts power to this thing when key is not in the ON position I'd be fine, but don't want to cut wires on front of bike.

If you use a trickle charger, I'm sure the small LED will not be an issue but could be over long amounts of time.

Nothing fancy here. A fairly basic USB mount that I used on a 2012 Triumph Bonneville. Long wires, so can be mounted just about anywhere. I was a little concerned about the main body, as it has a small red LED light on it. I wired the unit to a constant power source, not a keyed source. But it has sat for several weeks without a trickle charger, and still fired up without problems. So the draw is to low to drain the battery. Normally I keep it on a trickle charger anyway. You also might want to put a piece of tape over the LED, or position in correctly. When first installing it, the LED shown down under the seat and was obvious at night. So I had to reposition it so as not to look odd. But otherwise, it powers my iphone and Sena SMH10 Bluetooth well.

Installed on a 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado. Leads were very long (actually had to cut them down quite a bit). I used a plug that fits into the pigtails from my battery tender (didn't have time to find a good weatherproof switch yet). I installed it such that the voltage regulator is below the handlebar risers (so I can see the power LED when on the bike as a reminder to unplug it when the bike is off!).

Used it to power my cell phone to and from DC for Rolling Thunder and it worked great (used the phone to listen to music and to use it as a GPS). Nice side-effect of doing that was to allow my wife and daughter to track my progress via Google Latitude as the phone was able to update my position more frequently versus when on battery power.

Only drawback I ran into was the weatherproof fuse holders at Pep Boys are a lower gauge wire so finding a waterproof/heat shrink butt connector that worked was difficult. Although, given how much wire I had to trim meant I didn't have to cut it out and relocate it...

All in all, well worth the $20 I spent for it.

I bought one of these because i needed to charge 6v and 12v batteries. It has served me well. I can say on the downside that i'm not sure if it's good as a battery maintainer. It charges the 12v batteries to 14.7v before it reads full with the green light and keeps them at that voltage... i didn't think these sla batteries were supposed to go that high in voltage but it doesn't seem to have damaged the battery in any way and it does take a while to charge... for being 500 mah i figure if i have a 7ah battery to expect it to take 14 hours from dead to full, it takes about 8 to 10. I noticed with my multimeter in the off position it still produces about 2.5 volts... not sure why. It does a better job with 6 volt batteries than 12 volt, again, not sure why... but it eventually reaches full on each. I am pleased with the product and have ordered a second since i have a few batteries i'd like to keep full and am happy with the charger.

seems to work very well I especially like the indicator light to let you know the status of your batteries.

Use it to charge my 12v lead acid battery to power 1 25mm led( i could have use more but 1 is enough) as a night light in my living room. At first try Led indicator lit from green when terminal is connected to the battery then red when connected to the power source then turns green after 7 hrs charging but, after the next time i use it it never turn green after 2 days of charging i check battery voltage with multimeter and it shows 12.6 volts.Since it works for what i intended to do then i happy with it.

I bought this pair to replace my old pair of Cobra MicroTalk PR260 WXC radios (which by the way were cheapest on the market, but served great for the price of ~30$). So I had an experience and a chance to compare. Overall I can say that this Uniden 5089 radios behave far much better, but do not forget that they cost triple of the PR260s price. Uniden 5089s shewed not bad range for consumer products for about few miles in the city (this is not bad) with few hills in between and some buildings (stone, 5-7 floors) and traffic of course. When I reached the limit where Cobras lost the signal Unidens were still perfect to understand everything said by other party. Want to mention that this radios have BOOST function that increases transmitting power thus extending the range or making voice more clear, without any interference or noise in cases when standard (black) button begins transmitting with some noise due to distance or terrain. The only drawback was that pair of headsets that comes with this radios are for VOX operation and do not have button on them, you must use VOX to use them or press transmit button on the radio itself when used without VOX. This all I can say so far. I'll update my review with time when tested in other conditions.

Want to note that radios are performing well in the city, I have normal signal in the small center for about 0.5 km to 1 km in the city! My old cobras showed a result of 100 m in the same city conditions in comparison. But there is something I did not like the headset. Headsets are not bad actually, buy the cushions on them are too thin so the hurt your ear if worn for a long time because there are plastic edges which push to your ear and thin cushion on them is not enough. One thing more, there is no PTT button on the headphone so you can push it to talk, thus you are forced to push the talk button on the radio itself or use VOX (which is really unusable on any device I ever had, be it a radio or a cell phone).

I have to say they look to be of high quality radio sets, however, at my first time using them, one unit broke down and it keeps showing low battery sign if I push the PTT button. The battery level was not low actually, the PTT on the broken unit still did not work after I used a battery that worked normal on the other unit. I am still able to use the VOX set talking to other units but not using PTT. It is really disappointing since they are really high priced.I did not return it because I am not in the U.S. and cannot request for refund or return.

Per our testing, this product doesn't have sufficient range neither indoors nor out. We purchased it for 2 reasons: for indoor use (as we live in a crowded Asian capital filled with shopping malls, and wanted an alterior mode of communication to cell phones) and for emergency use during monsoons and flooding. So far, these do not work in malls, where there is a lot of interference but no signal reach. Hopefully, they'll work adequately in an emergency!

The user guide is worthless the unit is great. You must figure out how to operate the darn thing by yourself. Press and hold the test button until some light or lights come on on the left of the charger telling you the state of the batteries. Once running it will tell you if it is in the charge mode completely by showing the green lightening bolt. The unit works perfectly. If however you are trying to supply power besides charging the battery you will need a grid tie inverter along side.

I wish the cord of this charger was longer. It is too short to me. Also unfortunately my Navigon dropped from the place i had it and the charger broke so now it is useless. I got this product from BargainCell. When connected to my Navigon 7100, the GPS unit is not getting charged. No fault with the GPS as I am able to charge it using the power cord and there is no issue with my car's output as I am able to charge my iphone using another cable.

I have asked for a replacement and it has been 15 days and haven't yet received one. I have contacted amazon and they said they have submitted an A-to-z Guarantee claim on my behalf for the order and if approved, my card will be reimbursed.

So in short, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.
