I needed a charger for a large set of deep cycle batteries, something that would put out lots of amps continuously. And of course I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This charger has worked great, met all my expectations.

But understand what it is, a big heavy manual charger. Left on it's highest setting it will fry all but the biggest batteries. But if you have big batteries, 600 amp hours or bigger, it's great. That's amp hours, not CCA or cold cranking amps.

Why only 4 out of 5 stars? Two flaws. Two of the sheet metal screws on the outside are stripped, easy to fix. The other flaw is worse. The cables are only 6 gauge. If you use the charger at full potential, outputting 60-80 amps, for more than 30 minutes the cables get hot. Once the cables started smoking, melting the insulation, luckily I noticed and turned off the charger. This thing should have a least 4 gauge cables.

But I think most people will use it on car batteries, so the hot cable issue shouldn't be a problem.

The battery charger works wonderfully and it contains the desired features, but the sheet metal box isn't very sturdy. Like other chargers I've seen at various stores, the manufacturer saved a few pennies by using a light gauge sheet metal. The first item delivered was dented even though the shipping box didn't appear to have any damage. The return and exchange was quite easy. I still had the first one when the replacement item arrived several days later. The second item was also damaged. Luckly, I could assemble one good item out of the two I received.

Ordered two of these for local fire dept. they have trucks with 6 volt all the way up to 24 volt starting systems and one charger is easier to keep track of than four different voltage ones. A couple things i recommend after using this charger are: keeping an eye on the clamps they get hot on high charging rate with high CCA battery, and on 6 volt low it is not a trickle charger, so don't leave timer on to long. All that said it is a good value for a small fleet or farm in a big charger.

Charger is functional in 6, 12, and 24 volts. Will do lite duty charging. The cables are very lite duty, so be careful if you are charging high amps in 12 volts or using 24 volts. The case is very lite duty also, even though it was packaged well, it was dented but did not affect use. I kept it as it was minor and I figured it would eventually get bumps and scrapes during use. In my opinion not a "fleet" quality charger. I will get by as I am using it as a backup second charger. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. It was about half price of a "fleet" quality charger.

Schumacher SC-10030A SpeedCharge Automatic Charger and Maintainer

Schumacher SC-10030A SpeedCharge Automatic Charger and Maintainer
  • 100 Amp engine start
  • 2 amp slow and 12<>30 amp charge rates
  • Charges AGM, deep cycle, gel cell, SLA and standard batteries
  • Charges 6 and 12V batteries
  • Includes Tester/Alternator Check

Some years back, I began using deep cycle AGM batteries in a few of my vehicles. Why use such expensive batteries that need specially regulated chargers? Well, let's just say you already know if you've ever had a standard lead-acid battery die and leak acid that ate the battery compartment and fender wall away of a stored vehicle (I had a brand new battery do this to one of my cars in less than six months storage) or you might know if you don't keep the batteries pulled out of stored vehicles.

Recently, I found one of my expensive AGM batteries to be severely discharged (at 20% charge) from disuse. Normally this would not be a problem as I have always owned an industrial battery charger over the last 40 years that will quicky build a battery or boost start even an 18-wheel tractor. I've had the current one since the late 1970's and it (a NAPA charger) still runs flawlessly although it will soon need a new AC power cord due to worn insulation.

Okay, therein lies the hidden problem that made me need a new charger. Most chargers including my old NAPA were/are not designed for properly charging newer type batteries such as deep cycle AGM and gelled types. Using the wrong charger on an AGM or gelled type battery can quickly destroy them. These newer battery types require voltage limiting system regulation as they recharge. The old wet-cell un-sealed lead acid batteries are much more forgiving when it comes to higher charging voltages and amperage rates.

While my older charger was able to place a regulated 10 Amp charge rate at under the specified maximum voltage rate for an AGM battery, the best it could charge my Odyssey batteries was 80% before the voltage began to gradually creep up over the recommended AGM type maximum of 15 volts (an even lower voltage is required for gelled types). Sure, I could have just used the vehicle charging system as its voltage is regulated below 15 volts, but that would have meant many hours driving time not very cost effective at the price of gas today. Plus, my vehicles with AGM batteries are antiques and show vehicles I don't want to drive far.

Using my old charger to bring back that one AGM battery to only 80% was a royal pain in the rear, as I had to monitor the voltage as the battery charged and it took hours of watching for it to safely build the Odyssey battery back to 80%. The ten ampere charge rate stayed at around 14.5 volts until it neared 80% where it then began climbing above 15 volts if I didn't remove the charger. Any higher an ampere rate using this older charger would have resulted in an AGM battery destroying voltage of 18 volts on the old charger's 12 volt battery ampere switch positions. Oh, and for those wondering, I kid you not as my old industrial charger has always been a loud unit due to it's large internal fan. My ears were ringing from sitting there nearby with it running.

After spending a weekend day of that, I decided it was time to wait for the arrival of this new charger I had already decided I needed and ordered from the Amazon store. Okay, I read the manual before and after purchase pretty much standard stuff except you need to always connect the AC power cord after first connecting the charge cables, and to disconnect the AC power cord before removing the charging cables. It doesn't have a manual on/off switch. As they say on the DirecTV commercial, the rest was a "no-brainer".

I have a few years of electrical engineering experience (okay, many more than a few), so I decided to test a few things when I began using the Schumacher SC-10030A. First, I turned the vehicle headlights on for ten seconds to reduce any surface charge on the Odyssey battery I wanted to charge, and used an Amprobe digital meter to find the battery voltage was more or less stable at 12.54 volts just above 75%. I then connected the SC-10030A battery cables, and noted it showed 12.5 volts on its display after connecting the unit AC power cord. The display can also be changed by a simple left button press to show the approximate percentage of charge according to voltage. The center switch button controls battery type (default is AGM). The right hand button controls amperage per battery size, and the 100 Amp boost start. I pressed it once to get to the large battery setting (12-30 Amp automatic operation), from the default small battery setting (low 2 Amp amperage setting).

After connecting the SC-10030A, I checked it several times as it charged the AGM battery. The fan gives a low whine and comes on and off automatically as the unit heats and cools. There is nothing loud about this by any stretch of the imagination the fan on a 500 watt computer power supply is about the same. Once the unit read 13.5 volts for a short time, it soon cycled out of the automatic variable ampere charge rate and went into maintain mode. Using my digital amprobe again, I watched the amps of the maintain charge as they fluctuated from .17 to .28. That's an average of less than a quarter of an amp in maintain mode, and definitely not anything that could damage any AGM battery. An hour later, I looked again and saw those maintain mode amps were fluctuating from .15 to .22 Amps. Seeing these figures, I would have no problem leaving this charger connected and un-attended for a day or two as I know it would only build a battery back to its full remaining capacity (all batteries permanently lose capacity over time).

The case on this unit is hard plastic and fairly thick. The case handle has a nice strong feel and the charger appears sturdy. I found the cables were completely adequate but, while sturdy, the battery clamp handles are cheaply insulated and not what I would call heavy duty unlike the clamps on my old professional NAPA charger which can easily take the abuse of a truck driving over them. Still, they appear to be completely adequate for a charger of this unit's capabilities. Looking at the size of this unit out of the box, I was actually surprised to find it had more weight than I expected looking at it. I also saw the cable storage on the back of the unit was adequate as well. The LED display and other LEDs on the unit are also bright and easily seen. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this SC-10030A. Provided with reasonable care, I see no reason this unit shouldn't work reliably for many years. It does exactly what Schumacher has represented it to do, and the five year warranty reinforces how much faith they have in this product. One thing, follow the instruction manual especially if you intend to use it for boost starting.

At my age, there's yet another reason I like this charger so well other than its easy operation. It only weighs a little over 10 lbs. My old NAPA charger probably weighs 75 lbs. hard to move even if it is on wheels. One other notable thing this charger is about half the price of the comparable Odyssey recommended Odyssey charger also sold at Amazon. It has fewer features than the SC-10030A. It still makes sense to save a dollar where it counts especially when you get a much better product for the price!

Now on to the de-sulfate mode!

The Shumacher SC 10030A has a de-sulfation mode, but it is not continuous. Any interruption of power or unit settings will switch off this automatic mode as it only comes on by the sensing ability of the unit. Once a battery has a fairly good charge, this unit will not "sense" the need for further de-sulfation, and it then goes directly from "charge mode" into "maintain mode" skipping "desulfation mode". De-sulfation mode is noted by a flashing yellow "charging" LED instead of it staying solid during normal charging. Just don't expect to see it very often at all. De-sulfation mode can run up to 10 hours just don't interupt it or it probably won't re-initialize. BatteryMinder has better solutions for desulfation if you are more interested in this recovery type feature. The BatteryMinder 12151 and 12117 do full-time desulfation and can be left connected indefinitely to a good battery they also recover battery capacity very well.

CAUTION:

Do not operate loads such as car stereo equipment, etc., with this charger connected in "maintain mode". This charger will see the load and incorrectly raise voltages above 16 volts even while using the AGM or GEL settings. Chargers are not designed to power equipment even with a battery in the circuit.

Update 5/20/2011:

While I have used the unit a number of times now with zero problems, I noticed the fan became very loud when I used the charger to check a battery this evening. I decided to remove the four Phillips head screws that attach the cover to the rest of the unit and I took a look inside. It was nice to see the large copper wound transformer up close, but I noticed a few of the attached wires were out of place one had been pinched (a blue one) between the cover and the top of the transformer core, and some of the others (attached by female spade connector fittings to the transformer spade terminals) were interfering with the handle movement inside the case. This was an easy fix, but I was also surprised to notice several other of the female spade connection fittings were excessively loose on their transformer spade terminals. I simply crimped the female connectors gently with a pair of pliers and re-attached them to their spade terminal on the transformer, as there was no obvious damage or coloration that any type of heating would have caused that might have loosened them. My conclusion was the unit obviously had these terminals loose from the factory and they just hadn't caused any problem as yet. I also found it odd that the simple wiring position changes, I made, hadn't been made at the factory to eliminate any future use problem as it only required a single gentle looping in each of two of the wires, and slightly bending/positioning others out of the way of the handle area.

I couldn't see anything wrong with the tiny fan, but I used a white silicone spray and lubed it as best I could inside its bearing area after having removed it from the upper case. I couldn't help but notice the three screws holding it seemed overly tight (a fourth was noticeably absent but not present anywhere inside the case or in the factory box I keep my unit stored in), and I wondered why the fourth was obviously missing from the factory. I reinstalled the fan and lightly tightened the three screws evenly (no danger of the these screws coming out). I also made sure not to overtighten the four case screws at reassembly.

Once back together, I hooked the charger back up to the battery and plugged the power cord in. The fan was now back to its normal quieter self and the handle now slides in and extends out without any interference and yes, the unit performed just as well as always. I couldn't say if all units get assembled this shoddy from the factory, but it wouldn't hurt to carefully check inside if your fan suddenly gets louder for no reason or if the handle appears to be interferred with by something inside the case. While in there I would also gently wiggle the transformer connections and carefully tighten any female spades that appear excessively loose. I'm sure I just added years to the life of my unit, but I shouldn't have needed to do these things on what is a brand new unit.

The unit does most everything well as it should and I could have simply returned it for repair. But, it was easier for me to just do this correctly myself than shipping it off and waiting for its return. Who knows, some of the same small problems might still have existed after being sent back and returned. I mean, it did come that way from the factory. Anyway, my look inside showed me the components look well designed for the price and opening the case isn't difficult.

I had another electronic style charger, purchased a few years ago from Sam's Club. Not bad, just not durable and it gave up the ghost...

I was referred to Schumacher by some friends in the auto repair business and wanted a unit that was reliable and was versatile, charging different types and sizes of batteries. We have a vehicle and a motorcycle that doesn't get used regularaly and I needed to be able to top off various batteries.

1st impressions, this thing is HEAVY compared to other brands! Not a big surprise since I have to assume they use a more robust transformer than other brands.

On the flip side, the battery leads are lighter and smaller than I would have expected. They work great and since Schumacher has been doing this for quite a few decades, I'm sure they will work well for the long haulI just expected larger gauge wires and larger clips. As a plus, the smaller clips actually are easier to connect to various batteries, especially if they are still installed (motorcycle).

Other surprise is this thing is loud, with a constant hum when plugged in. It is normal based on the transformer, but it is different than the cheaper chargers out there. This is not a bad thing, just a little different.

I have already used this charger on a truck battery and a couple smaller batteries with no problems. It works as advertised and quickly. I like the fact that it will automatically charge then shift to a float charge mode and includes a desulfide mode if needed. Since some of my stuff sits (bike and lawn mower) the desulfide function is great to recover a battery. Haven't tested the start function and likely won't but it's there if needed...

Overall, pleased and would buy again.

Have a diesel truck that is setting most all the time. Over a long period of time the alarm system and other gadgets drained the battery. Was probably this way for many weeks. Not good for a battery at all. This truck has a diesel that requires two batteries to start. After recharging the batteries many times with another non-automatic charger and a smaller version of this charger, they would not take a full charge and trip out the smaller charger/maintainer. This charger, Schumacher SC-10030A SpeedCharge Automatic Charger and Maintainer, has a de-sulfation mode for batteries that suffer this type of trauma. Over night, about 12-14 hours later the battery finally accepted a full charge. I verified this by using the same smaller maintenance/ maintainer battery charger that continually tripped out. Once I had a fully charged battery, I installed the smaller maintainer, and it turned green indicating a full charge and now maintains the batteries..

Two problems. 1) this charger in my opinion is too large to be a maintainer / conditioner. It does the job but has a fan that goes on and off. Probably uses too much electricity. 2) When ever the charger goes into maintain mode, it sets off my remote controlled alarm system on the truck. I had to put the truck alarm on valet to prevent this.

I put the charger into service the day I got it and was pleased with the speed with which it charged the battery of my car. I like the fact that you can see the on-going charging percentage and thus get a good idea of how long it will take to complete the charge. Another good attribute is the fact that this device doesn't have any air vent slits cut into the top of the case which would otherwise make it susceptible to getting shorted out. This is what in fact happened to my Craftsman charger. While using it one day, it began to snow unexpectedly and by the time I remembered that the charger was sitting alongside the car instead of under the hood, some snow had gotten into the air vents on top of the unit, landed on the open circuit board inside and proceeded to short it out. On a less than positive not but not a critical issue, is the fact that the unit came with the front sticker which displays the information for the various functions out of alignment and was actually causing some of the function lights to be partially covered up. All-in-all, though I'm please with the product and feel that I got a good value for the price and it does meet my expectations.

UPG 24v Scooter and Wheelchair Battery Charger - 2 Amp Hour Charger - 7170371703

UPG 24v Scooter and Wheelchair Battery Charger - 2 Amp Hour Charger - 7170371703This is identical to the charger supplied by the Pride scooter company for my wife's Go-Go mobility scooter, and at a significantly lower cost. The previous one we had lasted for over 5 years. I would have rated this model higher except that you need to be careful connecting and disconnecting the plug from the charger body.

If you yank on it, you could break the plastic tabs that hold the socket inside the charger body. These tabs gave way on my previous charger, and the socket and wires began to come out of the charger body each time I disconnected the plug/cable, and I could find no way to repair it.

I recently purchased the this company's FlexSMART X2 and it turned out not to play stereo unless it was at full volume on the device. That was an issue because the sound was very distorted at times. I decided to give the X3 a chance in the hopes that the company made some updates to the design. It was a good decision as this device plays perfectly through my wife's stereo and the voice quality is good too. If there was one nitpick it is the color. I would prefer a black version but I knew that when I bought the device. I would recommend this to anyone with a stereo that doesn't have AUX in. Happy wife, happy life!

First of all I know this is a "product" review but I've got to mention the shipping aspect. I chose the free shipping and actually received the item 4 days ahead of schedule. Felt that was well worth mentioning. As far as the actual product, it's amazing. I had the Flexsmart X2 and had the same problem as the first reviewer....it wouldn't play through all my car speakers. But I've had no issues with the X3. The sound is friggin' amazing. I've tried several FM transmitters and this one is by far the best. Music through the Bluetooth connection sounds just like cd quality....crisp and clear with good bass. Just sounds really full. Anyway, I do agree that the thing is ugly, but I drive an '06 Camry so I'm certainly not going to impress the ladies with my FM transmitter. Anyway, the cosmetics aren't enough to throw it out, the performance is too good to do that (hey that line works in a lot of situations). Crap, sorry, back to the review....it's simple to pair with your phone. I have an iPhone 5 and it literally paired in seconds. You don't have to press anything on the unit to make it "ready" to pair. It automatically shows up on your list of Bluetooth devices. It pairs back up to your phone again automatically ever time you turn the transmitter back on. I've used the handsfree calling a couple times...works great. I will say the light color behind the buttons is pretty cool. It's that cool blue futuristic look...like something out of Tron Legacy. Of course as the description reads, it has a USB port to plug your phone in so you can charge it. That right there is a pretty stellar feature (you can pretty much throw your car charger in the glove box). All in all...this thing is well worth the price. Amazing (and I mean absolutely AMAZING) sound quality. You won't be dissapointed....from Lil Wayne to Taylor Swift and from Eminem to someone singing you happy birthday on a handsfree phone call*...all your music will sound awesome.

*Note: the level of awesomeness on the birthday song really depends on who is singing it...don't blame the device if the person singing sounds like Pee-Wee Herman is choking himself.

I am thrilled with the product. my car doesn't have an aux input so this is the best option. The other Fm transmitters really suck. Got turned onto the Flexsmart by my brother who has the older X2 model. Which i would have bought cause it's cheaper but oddly it only played music out of the left side of my car...

Tried the new X3 and it plays out of all the speakers crystal clear. The handsfree for talking on the phone is decent not great because of where my cars plug is. But i know it works cause i've used it, just the other party has trouble hearing me cause the mic is not in a good spot in my car.

overall best if you need an FM transmitter.

The GOgroove FlexSMART X3 is one great FM/Bluetooth transmitter. I have been using an iPhone 5 from AT&T with this product for about a month now.

Overall Impression:

This is one great product. The Blutooth integration makes this super convenient. Just start your car up, have your phone in your pocket and the Gogroove starts playing your music and is ready to take incoming calls via the Bluetooth system.

The sound quality is very good. The main reason I bought this was because I had a cassette with a cord to play the music on my iphone. But quite often it made this really annoying interference sound that electronics sometimes have on speakers. With this product there is no crazy beeping or bad noises.

Connecting to a clear radio station is very easy. You just need to hold the middle button for a few seconds and it pics a new station. I live in the bay area so I need to change the station when I travel about every 30 miles.

You do need to turn up your volume on your car really high when listening to audiobooks or recordings with people speaking. This in turn produces a little fuzzy sound in the background, but it doesn't bother me much.

The device looks nice in the car, I got a compliment from my girlfriend. :) She actually was interested in getting one because it "looks good" even-though she has an auxiliary port in her car! The blue accent lighting is quite nice, it adds a special "touch" at night.

Call Quality:

The call quality is good. I can hear the other person through my speakers easily. Also the people I am talking with say they can hear me clearly..no echoing has been found.

Hidden surprises I found using the product:

1. If you are listening to your ipod or even PANDORA, then the next time you start your car up, the device starts playing automatically. This is really nice because it saves time going through your device and starting up your music or audiobooks. It also pauses what you are listening to when you turn off the device or turn off your car.

2. You don't need to plug the cable from the phone to the GOgroove, it works via Bluetooth! Maybe it says this in the description, but it was a pleasant surprise to me. I thought the Bluetooth was only for the calling aspect.

3. The Pause/Play button and skip forward or backward buttons on the GOgroove device work with my ipod (through my iphone) and on PANDORA via Bluetooth. This is great because now I just keep my phone in my pocket when I get in and out of my car. No more spending time fumbling around to connect my device (especially nice in the cold mornings) or forgetting my phone in the car.

Overall this is a great alternative if you don't have an auxiliary port. You can message me with any questions you have.

I purchased this product as one of the most skeptical buyers you can imagine for this type of equipment. I've used FM transmitters in the past, and was always let down. The GOgroove X3 is great. My main reason for purchasing this item was to have Pandora stream from my iPhone 5 to my car stereo. It works just as advertised, and sound quality is great. I would gladly recommend this product to anyone looking to do the same. Bluetooth call quality is also good. Haven't tested the USB charging port yet, but research indicates proper voltage to charge my iPhone.

Shorai Charge and Store Battery Management System for Lithium Iron Extreme-Rate Battery SHO-BMS01

Shorai Charge and Store Battery Management System for Lithium Iron Extreme-Rate Battery SHO-BMS01
  • Store Mode - For Maximum Battery Life During long-term storage
  • Charge Mode, Charges, Balances, and performs cell diagnostics
  • Battery cable: connects permanently to battery, and ties off at a convenient external location
  • 2A max charge rate
  • Retractable hook

This definitely isn't a Battery Tender in terms of build quality. It looks more like an indoor lab instrument than something you'll want to keep in a damp garage. The connectors are definitely not ruggedized, so after you connect the short one to the Shorai battery's special plug, you end up with a very raw-looking electronic connector end hanging out of the bike that you use to connect the opposite end from the charger. It's not like the typical SAE type connector used for a Battery Tender type charger.

So for dual-sport bikes, you'll end up with a connector on the bike that will get wet and muddy really quick. Best figure out somewhere to hide it or a way to wrap it in plastic or something for protection.

Also, the connector that goes to the battery is pretty short and it plugs into the charger. So you can't really set the charger on the floor and connect it to the short connector attached to the battery in the bike. You have to put a chair or box next to the bike to hold the charger.

Bottom line is that Shorai needs to look at the common Battery Tender to get a better idea of how a garage-ruggedized charging system should be built. Not that Battery Tender is the dog's bollocks, just that the Shorai system seems a bit fragile for motorcycles and garage use.

Otherwise, it charges and maintains the Shorai battery ok. It's a bit confusing; when you turn on the charger, you can choose maintenance or charge and you press the buttons but aren't really sure about what's happening.

It's also pretty expensive for what it is and I'm not really sure it's needed because the Li-Fe battery seems to last forever and reads full voltage all the time, no matter how long the bike sits -which is the advantage of buying a Li-Fe battery in the first place. So if your bike's charging system works correctly, you probably will not need a Shorai charger for your Shorai Li-Fe battery -save your money.

I already own Li-on/Li-Po chargers for my RC stuff, but I got this because it's plug and play and if you've already invested the over $100 in the Shorai or a similar A123 type battery, you might as well take care of it properly. I live in the Northeast, so it's necessary to keep it topped of for the winter. I have heated gear so I ride when most people don't.

This review is just to comment on the scarcity of the advertised information,

not about the item itself (which I have not purchased yet).

I'm interested in how much power is consumed by the battery charger

in its various modes, but I do not see that information anywhere

(not even on the shoraipower.com website, which currently seems

to not yet have a page for the battery charger).

I ask because I have a battery charger for another manufacturer's

device, and I found that it consumes 10 Watts when idle, which

I thought was a bit wasteful.

Since I have several Archos versions, I was hoping I could use this for all of them, but unfortunatly that will not be the case.

Hi guys,

I was kinda cautious about the product before ordering because of mixed reviews. But I tell you this is the best Voltage Adapter in market right now. USB slot can charge your tablet, mobiles ,cameras..(I am using it to charge IPAD3 , Samsung Galaxy Nexus and SONY DSC WX 150 camera) .. It's lightweight and really handy to carry anywhere. I ordered 6 BESTEK adapters to gift to my home and friends. None of them is making noise, nothing went bad until yet. I was using it in Europe and it worked Really best everywhere.. Really good investment ..

I, stupidly, left feedback on how promptly this had arrived, and how pleased we were at that, and apparently, once having left feedback, even though I have removed it, Amazon will no longer give me a way to contact the seller to try to rectify things, so my sole recourse is to warn others. Of course we could not test it until we got to the UK, and it DID NOT WORK AT ALL. Nada. Zip. So we bought a converter there which worked brilliantly.

My advice, since you easily can get them abroad--ours was from a little lamp/hardware store in Morton-on-Marsh, England, so it wasn't as if we had to go to a big city--DO NOT BUY from a US seller. You can't test it, and it's just heavy junk to schlepp if it didn't work.

I just assumed it would work, and was trying to wrap up a bunch of Amazon feedback requests before leaving on the trip! Lesson two learned! You can't get back to the seller once you have left feedback.

This review is for the Universal Travel Adapter & Power Converter, model number MRJ301D by Bestek. The vendor I bought from was LaszPower and full disclosure: after sending my item, LaszPower sent a follow-up mailer claiming if I submit this review on Amazon they will send me a package of free stuff...so here's hoping!

The product was shipped quickly with a decent amount of packaging. For what you get it seems worth the price. The unit is nicely compact, feels solid and isn't too heavy (always a concern with my luggage). There are no wires or spare parts. All the prongs are neatly self-contained when not in use. The UK prongs are spring-loaded with a trigger switch on top of the device, which gives a strong 'pop' when activated. Be sure no sleeping babies are nearby! To avoid the loud popping sound, simply hold your thumbs over the UK prongs, activate the switch with your forefinger and gently ease back your thumbs. The prongs will push themselves into position. To re-load the prongs, perform the same steps in reverse order. This process was not at all documented in the included paperwork, but with a little trial-and-error it was easy enough. The trigger is not labeled on the device. A person could mistake it for a button at first. Hopefully this review helps you avoid confusion.

Many travel adapters have separate prongs for US and AU. Bestek combined the US and AU prongs into a single set. You may rotate the prongs with your fingers into the desired configuration. This process is labeled on the device.

There are 2 lights on the device's face, one green (labeled USB) and one red (AC). If/when issues occur, observe the lights. They will be on and/or off in various patterns depending on the specific problem. The included paperwork features a troubleshooting table that interprets the lights, so be sure and take it with you (it's one sheet of paper, folded).

For voltage conversion there are no switches or toggles. The unit always outputs 110VAC, no matter the input. For US travelers abroad, this means no thought is required. Just plug in your stuff. Travelers from other countries should note this device ONLY ouptuts 110VAC. As always, any traveler should check the specific requirements for their own electronics.

There is one receptacle on the device's face. It is the universal type that accepts plugs of all configurations. The single USB power port is located on the bottom of the device.

This adapter worked well until I (foolishly) tried to plug in a US surge protector with it. I think I blew the internal fuses on both units! In fairness to the adapter I was in Ukraine, in an older building with faulty wiring. We experienced electrical issues in other parts of the building, so that may have contributed to the problem. In any event, the adapter worked perfectly for about 5 minutes before I tried to get creative with it. I'm going to replace the fuse on this one. If that doesn't work I plan to buy this adapter again and treat it more carefully.

This converter is very simple and easy to use. The plugs fit just about everything you will come in contact with. The USB is a nice touch as well. It allows for multi-device charging.

I needed a good, affordable, compact option for voltage conversion prior to an overseas trip this month. This unit seemed to fit the bill. It is an all-in-one that has all the different plug types built into one box. It handled everything I threw at it in the Philippines, to include an iPhone and a CPAP machine, with no issues. Next week I am planning to take it to Poland, and now I will do so with confidence. I would recommend this item to a friend planning to take a trip to a 220V country.

Cellet 1000 mAh Output AC Wall to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Port 110v to 12v AC/DC Power Converter Fe

Cellet 1000 mAh Output AC Wall to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Port 110v to 12v AC/DC Power Converter Female AdapterI wanted to use this power a tiny car air compressor. I plugged in the compressor and it lights up. I turn it on and nothing happens. I would send it back, but given the cost, it isn't worth the hassle.

This is a very nice little product. It is not heavy and can be easily packed for travel. It has a universal input, meaning it will work from 100v-240v and 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The 1 Amp output current appears to be a conservative rating.

Stitchway UltraPower 1900 mAh BLACK Backup Battery Charger for iPhone 4,4G, 3GS, 3G ,iPod, iTouch-EX

Stitchway UltraPower 1900 mAh BLACK Backup Battery Charger for iPhone 4,4G, 3GS, 3G ,iPod, iTouch-EXTERNAL, PORTABLE, RECHARGEABLEI just got this external power delivered to me 15 minutes ago after the delivery man left. it came in this small brown paper back sealed with adhesive. inside the package contained bubble wrapping. the package did come on time, so yay me.

first impression (pro)

small, cute, lightweight, solid build despite the price.

i plugged this in my ipod touch 2g on 4.2.1 firmware jailbroken and it worked instantly. i automatically saw 2 out of the 4 led lights up indicating a charge. on the upper right corner, theres this key with a battery logo on it and if you press it, it indicates how much power is left in the unit (neat). my ipod can also charge while the unit is charging at the same time.

This device is about half the size of my ipod touch.

first impression (con)

the only con i can see so far is you can't listen to music via headphones of any kind while charging with it. the unit is too big and covers the jack....oh wells. for 6 bucks, you really can't ask for much.

there was this one review about this unit impossible to charge. i dont know much about that, but ill see what happens and post updates to you guys (if i know how to edit my reviews once published xD)

overall:

handy for on the go or forgot to charge. it's relatively big (half the size of an ipod), so you might have to charge it on a flat surface. its still small when you think about it. im not sure about power and how fast it can charge, because this this time, im trying to get it fully charge. 5/5 star atm...

UPDATE: 11/29/11

Con:

-the device is fat and puts pressure to the ports on the pressure

-the battery button sucks. u need to push a little harder to read how much juice is in the unit.

update: 12/10/11

used it for about 5 times... the battery capacity def decreases over time, but still enough to bring 20% up to 100%

My first charger did not work at all! So I contacted the seller and they shipped me another one very quickly and apolozied for the one that was defective . The new one work ok my iPhone 4s however it does not charge it to a full 100 % as it should since it's advertised that the charger holds 1900 mAh of battery . It's good only in case you need an emergency charge until you get home and garage your iPhone n the outlet ! The seller was very good to deal with

A phones battery is just not enough. You need another battery handy. This product worked right out of the package. I have not seen a battery that really last. The two new IPhones, 4 and 4S, promises longer battery use. Well that's an understatement. You must have your phone charging after talking for awhile. This battery charger has come in handy when I'm out for dinner or at a game. I strongly recommend this product. My phones battery just went from 100% to 96% while typing this review. I own an IPhone 4.

Works fine, but not with my Otter Box. This is the second of these that I ordered. The first work perfectly and DID work with my Otter Box. However, this one has a slightly shorter plug to mate with my iPhone and I must remove the Otter Box for it to properly connect. Other than that, it would have gotten 5 stars. Overall, GREAT product.
