This unit has a internal charger and it is a float charger, that means you can leave this unit plugged up all the time. Matter of fact if you read the instructions. It tells you to leave it plugged up all the time to keep the charge going. This will make your unit last much longer also. Never never let a rechargeable battery go dead and stay dead for a period of time. This will definitely kill the battery and it will not take a charge. It's the same method with your rechargeable batteries on a drill whether they are lithium or whatever. Never never let a battery go completely dead for a period of time.
For 69.00 dollars at Costco you can't beat that deal (this is for home use and recreational not for being used in a shop). I have purchased Schumacher battery boosters before and they last just as long a couple of years and they cost much more. If you want one for a shop, try the Solar E2500 or E5000, they cost about 130.00 to 180.00 and they will only last maybe a couple of years on the rechargeable battery, but are heavy duty for a shop or even a Clore battery booster for about 300.00 plus and that will last you about 3 to 4 years.
I have not tried the jumper yet. But like any jumper, most will not start a totally dead or defective battery. Some jumpers need some voltage in a battery to get it to activate, not sure about this one yet. But it has saved me when my cell phone died a couple of times, me being a knucklehead and forgetting to charge my phone. I have not used the compressor on car tires yet, but I have used it on my grandkids basketball and it was fast. Also the light is bright, would like for it to have been more flexible but, Its ok. Overall, excellent Unit so far for what I paid for and the purpose of this unit.First let's clear the air, this is not a commercial unit and as such is not built for banging around but will generally last almost if not as long as a commercial unit. Even commercial unit batteries eventually die and must be replaced.
Air compressor I do not recommend using it as your primary air source. This is for emergency air or occasional use only, not to inflate your air mattresses, large items and to top off your leaky tire on a daily basis, get it repaired! I have used it to add air while on the road but it is loud and takes some time, it has a tiny air compressor inside so keep this in mind but it does work. For inflating large volume, low pressure thing go and buy a compressor made for that purpose, you'll be much happier.
Worklight Fairly bright, easy to use switch on the front BUT since it's fixed you have to wrangle the unit around to make it useful, would have been better to have a retractable head but then people would break it and complain about it. Maybe a built in one with a gooseneck or something would be better, not a deal breaker by any means.
12V outlet Works as it should, non issue.
Charging No external adapter to mess with, just plug it into a utility type extension cord and you're done.
Cables Decent quality, fairly heavy duty good clamping and easy to store. Only gripe is they could be longer but are workable and I've been able to jump my vehicles without other issues.
Jump start performance I've had EXCELLENT experience with this unit and bring it with me whenever I go on road trips. I have used this many times and it has more than paid for itself in convenience and speed. It has started even recently dead batteries after hooking it up and waiting a few minutes.

It has no problem firing up V6 and 4cyl cars instantly, the big trucks took a couple minutes to waiting because they were pretty dead but they too started up with no problem. I will but another unit when this one fails but I might be able to find a replacement battery for it instead.I recieved the powerstation as a gift about a year and a half ago. It worked great until I went to use it a few days ago. I turned on the compressor by pressing the switch and it would not turn off. The switch got stuck in the on position. It kept running and running until I took the unit apart and pulled the wires to the switch. If someone didnt do this I dont know how long the pump would continue to run, but I view this as a safety hazard. I called the company and they told me unless it was within the 1 year warranty they couldnt do anything. I mentioned the potential safety concern and got no response other than they would replace the unit if it was still under the 1 year warranty period. I get it, but be warned the switch may not turn off one day. I can only hope to find a replacement switch at a local electronics store. I guess the manufacturer doesnt belive in feedback and / or product improvements.I just bought this here last week and I've already used it to pump up a flat tire and jump start a dead battery. It worked flawlessly each time. I was at Costco yesterday and saw it for $79.00.

The Good:-Nice all-in-one unit
-The air gage is surprisingly accurate
The Bad:
-The cover for the charger can be difficult to reinstall.
-The button for the air compressor would not shut it off, which caused the compressor motor to seize.
-The jumper cables could be a little longer.
-The air compressor is a little too loud.
I picked up this item from Costco for $70 and was luckily able to exchange it for a new one after the air compressor button broke. I would have given it 4 stars if the button didn't break. It would be nice if it was quieter and had longer cables.
UPDATE 10/2/12: The replacement unit that I got back in April broke. The air compressor could not be turned off and the motor eventually siezed (again). I ended up exchanging the ~6 month old unit for another one. Once Costco stops carrying it, I will replace the switch with one from Radio Shack.
I've noticed that the air gage on my 2nd unit was not as accurate. It read about 3 psi over actual.

I purchased this inverter to replace a Sinergex Pure Sine 600 unit that failed after 5 years on my boat which is used to provide power to the entertainment system and TV.Compared to other similar pure sine wave inverters the ProWatt SW600 is a great buy. Easily half the price of a replacement Sinergex and other similar units.
For my application, it had to be installed in concealed location. The SW600 was slightly larger than the Sinergex unit it was replacing but not by much and it fit nicely in the same space that the Sinergex unit was in.
The unit works great, provides clean power to the entertainment system and TV. It hums a bit when running but not enough to be annoying in a quiet cabin. If you are mounting this unit to a wood panel you may want to use rubber isolation to minimize the amplification of the hum through the wood panel.
My only complaint isn't so much with this unit as with the most recent 'safety' requirements that in order to comply with UL458 prevent this inverter (and virtually all other similar units) on the market today from turning on when DC power is applied. You MUST press a momentary button on the front of this unit to power it up. As a result of the safety requirements of UL458, it is now expected that any inverter will be mounted where it is easily accessible. Trouble is on my boat and in many other RV and other marine applications, the inverters are usually installed out of sight in a compartment.
Unlike most other inverters on the market in this category, at least Xantrex offers a remote panel/switch for this unit which was a big plus since I had to install it in a concealed location. However, it also meant running the remote cable and finding yet more space in a sensible and convenient location to mount the remote panel. The remote panel just has an indicator light and momentary power switch. For its size, at 2" x 2.5", it would be nice if the remote panel would at least include a display to show the power and voltage readings just like the main unit does.
My gripes about the remote panel issues aside, overall I would highly recommend this unit for any application in which you want clean AC power. It really is a great value.

However, I have TESTED this inverter for practical load applications.
I have tested it on my pellet stove, for 5 hours to run the computerized controlled Harmon stove.
I have just done a video on youtube where I used it to cook a full chicken in the crockpot for almost 5 hours.
(the crockpot doesn't need a fancy true sinewave inverter, but this checked to see it could manage a load efficiently)
Go to youtube, and type "themarkfellows2" to see me cook a chicken with it. The video is a little over long, but I also put a tutorial, with formulas in it. Hopefully, you find this useful to you, and your purchase!

I bought this elsewhere. This is by far the lowest cost True Sinewave inverter I have ever seen. I don't have an Oscilloscope at home to verify the wave form but trust the manufacturers listed specs, which specify True Sinewave.
True Sinewave(close the real thing that comes out of the wall) not "Pure Sinewave", which is just a modified square wave without noise spikes.
I bought this to run my Harman Pellet stove off of battery backup in the event of a power outage without fuel for my portable gas generator. I bought a True Sinewave inverter because I don't want to risk damaging my 3300 dollar stove by using a "Modified Sinewave" inverter, or more accurately a Modified Square wave inverter, which is the cheap standard in electrical power inverters.
Modified Sinewave is the types of inverters in UPS and most inverters sold today. Read the warning that says it could damage variable speed motors and such.
True Sinewave inverters like this one don't have those issues.
I tested this inverter out tonight and it ran my stove perfectly in full auto mode with full auto motor control and full startup sequence with the ignitor. The cooling fan came on for about 10 seconds when my stove was pulling about 350 watts nominal. This unit has 1200 watts of surge power which works for electric motors as startup current( volts times current equals watts) can be quite high.
The Stove draws uses 440 watts of power on auto startup and 255 nominal. As far as startup power for the motors I have no idea.
I can't speak of reliability as I just got it but it has a two year warranty.

Inverters ! Modified Sine Wave, Pure Sine Wave, True Sine Wave, what the heck is going on. When attempting to power a TV from an inverter I learned that not all inverters are equal. The first one I tried said it was a Pure Sine Wave however it had so much RFI it blocked the antenna signal. This Xantrex "True" Sine Wave unit eliminated all my problems; it works great without RFI. I can recommend it. It has many nice features like the ground fault plug, the digital voltage and amperage meter, and the strong rear connections for the 12-volt inputs. Xantrex's engineering department understands what a person wants in an inverter.

A good Charging system should be putting out 13.8 to 14.2 volts.
Your battery charger will put out more on high, so don't let the battery get too warm. I like charging my batteries on low.
Just a word to the wise...
The average life of any battery is 3 years.
As soon as you see the white corrosion on the battery cable, you battery is on its way out. Oh sure you can milk it along for a year or two, maybe.
But... you are ruining your alternator and battery cables and when that bad boy starts to crank slow you are ruining the starter.
How much do you think a positive battery cable costs on a new car?
Some are well over 200.00 from the dealer plus labor.
These are just my thoughts after 30 years in the automotive business...
Oh yes, keep those battery cable connections clean too. That means wire brush the post and inside the cable mount.

Gave this dash camera as a gift. While the camera works on it's internal battery it does not seem to save any data or provide any loop. Error screen indicates an SD card is needed. Giftee says instructions only mention to use an SD card but when he plugged one in the camera did not work. Russian made camera looks good quality wise, and picture is good on the self contained viewer, but I'm waiting to see if it works and records video as intended. An SDHC card is required for operation it should be noted and 32Gb gives many hours of up to ten minute files. I hope to report more as new info arrives.Update for those interested 1/8/2013:
After fooling with the camera several hours, it is finally working fine. It is going to be a great camera for its intended purpose. Some suggestions to try:
I found the AC adapter will not power the camera (at least with a weak battery). So I used the included 12V cord to run the camera. The failure of the AC adapter to power the camera was a major source of confusion when figuring out the camera settings.
Use an SDHC card. Even tho the instructions say use SDHC I tried a small memory space standard SD card and it recorded but didn't have enough space to really tell if it was usable. You might get lucky if you have a standard card and it works.
I bought a 32 Gb SDHC card and it records many hours. After trying various setups I found the camera would only LOOP RECORD in bursts of maybe 4 seconds to a minute with giant gaps of time. I solved this by finding the FORMAT icon in system setup. This probably not only clears the SD card but also reformats and resets the camera.
Another item I'm not sure about is the MOTION DETECTION function. I am wondering if it resets the LOOP TIMER everytime it sees motion and this is the reason the camera settles into a short burst mode? Turning off the MOTION DETECT and then formatting I finally got everything working fine! I raised the rating to average because the camera works real good once one takes the time to figure out the functions but the instruction manual leaves much to be desired!
There is a little black reset button on the bottom of the camera. It seems only to unlock any screen freeze that might occur so that the camera can be turned off.

I used this to power a 25-watt set of little computer speakers for about 5 hours, since my radio was dead. About a year later, I tried to plug my iphone in to charge, and about 20 minutes later the phone said it wasn't charging. The little green LED on the inverter was no longer on. I install solar systems for missionaries in the heart of Africa and have had experience with many chargers. This one is by far the best. It has the best voltage/Hz tolerance. Most of our people run either on a generator system that functions 7hrs x 5 days a week or intermittent city power so we need maximum charge. This EVSE works perfectly with my 2012 Nissan LEAF. I installed the outlet for it myself and then just plugged this in when it arrived -although, a word of warning, you probably don't want to do it like that. Wait for this to arrive before installing an outlet, because the included template shows you good places to put the outlet -mine was actually a little bit too close. The cord is very short and very stiff, so the valid locations for the outlet are limited.My only complaint is that these things are so expensive. Bought this, plugged in my iPod and as long as the iPod was powered off, while in the strong sun, it provided trickle charge. When i tried to charge with power on it would not charge at all and the battery was drained. Not what I expected.Update: I tried recharging my laptop and it works but power must be off. I was also able to charge my iPad but only with power off.
I guess this will work on most gadgets as long as the power is off. I am curious whether I should get a voltage regulator. I don't know if my gadgets or the Sunlinq will stop trying to charge once the batteries are 100%. For now I will just watch carefully.

And if the area your in is too loud just unclip the earpiece. Its not bad looking either. Bluetooth reception is great. When I received this I was suprised to find out it had a feature it earlier did not claim it had. It does allow you to broadcast to your cars stero systemthough one channel is 89.4 which will not work because there is no 89.4 on my radio it only has odd numbers. I used this product almost immediately it was very simple to install and locked on to my bluetooth quite easily. The speaker on the actual device is very loud and clear people say I sound fine and it works like a champ. This thing does have great features, but maybe because I bought the "refurnished" one (which seems to be the only option here on amazon) the thing did not charge properly or hold the charge for long at all. I maybe got a whole 10-15 mins use before it died and decided to not charge properly. Also, it doesn't attach to the rear view mirror tight enough, causing it to shake pretty badly, which distorts the view making it impossible to see things through the mirror.
