NOCO Genius GC016 12V Dash Mount Battery Indicator

NOCO Genius GC016 12V Dash Mount Battery Indicator
  • For use with G750, G1100, G3500, G7200 and G4
  • Ergonomically designed to make battery connecting and disconnecting effortless
  • Built-in fuse protection to protect against potentially dangerous short circuits
  • Plug-n-play connector for easy accessory changes
  • For use with NOCO Genius models only

I recently bought a NOCO charger and was very impressed with it. I thought that this would be a really good addition.

The fuse holder is so big that there is no way to fish it through your firewall without either drilling a large hole or cutting the fuse holder off.

The led charging indicator doesn't appear to be accurate at all.

The cable that comes on the unit is not nearly as long as it needs to be.

I am very happy with the charger, however I would recommend the quick connector instead of this battery indicator.

I just love the pink!!! I gave my old battery tender to the boyfriend. It still worked fine, but I wanted pink and he needed a tender. I keep my bike hooked up when not in use as this prolongs the battery life. I keep leads on the bike's battery (included with the tender) and plug in after my rides. It's good for vintage cars as well, like a friend's Mustang. The battery is safely charged and then tended -just leave it hooked up.

We bought this unit to keep a pair of classic camaro batteries in good working order. Right out of the box we tied it into a battery using the ring terminals without problem. The unit cycles the battery up to full strength and gives an obvious indication of where you are in the charge cycle. As a bonus my wife is tickled pink that it's pink and has the bonus of helping to fight breast cancer. Would recommend this unit to anyone.

"This product stopped working less than 2 weeks after getting it. Both the auto and wall charger!!! I bought this for my girlfriend and it worked fine the first 1 1/2 weeks or so. Then her car charger stopped working. About half a week later, the wall charger stopped charging. The LED still functioned, but the phone wasn't charging at all.

I could understand one of these accidentally being bad, but having both fail within a week of each other is rather suspect. I would not recommend this product to anybody... maybe as a chew toy for my dog.

BatteryMINDer Model 12117: 12 Volt 1.33 Amp (12V 1.33A) Charger/Maintainer/Desulfator

BatteryMINDer Model 12117: 12 Volt 1.33 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Desulfator
  • Full-time battery monitoring automatically tests battery every microsecond, supplying only the current needed to maintain battery at full charge
  • Maintain up to four 12 Volt standard, starting batteries (of similar type - in parallel). Amperage is divided evenly among connected batteries. (NOT recommended for deep cycle batteries)
  • Does not overcharge, regardless of time connected
  • High-frequency pulses safely remove sulphate from battery's plates that prevent the batteries from holding a full charge
  • Adding water references Wet typed batteries. If the water level isn't sufficiently maintained, charging the battery runs the risk of overheating and cooking the battery. The charger applies current to the battery and this can cause the water to boil and evaporate.

...if you own deep cycle batteries. I bought one of these in 2001 as an experiment to desulphate eight 6 volt 225 amp hour deep cycle batteries. The RV park where we were staying used them in their golf carts. They were going to throw 6 Trojan 225 ah batteries in the dumpster. These batteries were in bad shape as evidenced by the constant 6 amps being drawn after being hooked up to their "super" charger for many hours. Essentially, these batteries were so sulphated that they would not accept any more charge. With many chargers the charge current will drop to "0" as battery resistance increases when fully charged.

I mentioned tossing the batteries in the dumpster might be illegal. If they let me have them to do some tests and possibly recover them, I would dispose of them properly if I had no luck. I had just installed a solar panel system with a 2500 watt inverter on my 5th wheel and had only 1 pair of golf cart batteries that was already at least 2 years old. I needed more reserve battery power and calculated that I would need at least 6 of these batteries for the inverter to be of any real use to me. When using batteries in this manner, it is best to use batteries that are in similar condition and ideally from the same lot. Six new batteries were going to cost about $520 with tax.

I got them back to my rig and baselined the charge they would accept on my 10 amp charger. Indeed, they were not accepting any more charge. I paired these old batteries in series to get four 12 volt configurations and spent the next 4 weeks (1 week per pair) on this desulphator. I continued this process until my charger's ammeter would go to zero when the batteries were full, an indication that they were now in good shape. Ultimately, 2 of the batteries would prove to be unrecoverable, but the other 4 plus the 2 I already owned eventually recovered about 90% of their original amp hour capacity based on some standard tests I ran.

My inverter, combined with these recovered batteries, would run my 15,000 BTU air conditioner for nearly an hour, more than enough time to cool our 5th wheel while preparing and consuming lunch in 106 temps in Ca. deserts. The batteries would be nearly fully recharged by the solar panels and charge line from the tow vehicle by the time we reached our destination for the evening. With loving maintenance and care, they had lasted another 5 years providing countless hours of dry camping service! Finally, in 2006, I replaced them with new ones before an extended camping trip.

This charger/desulphator requires 115 vac and a minimum of 11 volts in the battery before you connect to it. So, if your battery is dead, be sure to bring it up the 11 volt minimum before hooking the unit up or it could overheat and be ruined. Also, most of the cheaper old style battery chargers don't have any voltage regulation. Consequently, the voltage these chargers supply to a fully charged battery can exceed well over 14 volts and will eventually "cook" the electrolyte out if you leave them hooked up. They can also overheat the battery, permanently damaging the thinner plate structure of automotive (starting batteries). The VDC model I bought in 2001 can be left on to maintain the charge in lead acid batteries. Check your operator instructions to be sure.

Shortly after recovering these batteries, I bought another desulphator from an Arizona solar supplier capable of desulphating a 1600 a/h battery bank that operates only off of the battery bank. This constant desulphating process along with proper battery maintenance is probably what helped sustain these batteries for an additonal 5 years. In the absence of a desulphator, deep cycle batteries should be "equalized". The interval depends on usage. I was doing it monthly. The equalization process requires a special charger and can be hard on batteries. Desulphation performs a similar function without the harshness of equalization. Desulphation plus judicial use of equalization can extract maximum life out of your deep cycle batteries. I wouldn't be without either one of these desulphators or a 3 or 4 stage battery charger.

A final note: Never let your batteries sit in a discharged condition. As a battery discharges, the sulphate that forms will be easier to return to solution whn prmptly recharged. If you let it sit, the sulphate can harden and be nearly impossible to return to solution.

Excellent Product; does what it's advertised to do. Comes with lugs/rings and alligator(battery) clamps and a long cord. Works like a cell phone charger, just connect it & plug it in. WILL NOT WORK ON A COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERY!! (If the battery is dead, use your bulk charger to boost it for a couple of hours and then connect the maintainer.) Once the maintainer reaches full charge, it goes into conditioner mode (green flashing light)which is desulphating the battery, exentending its life. Worth the $$$.

This is something that any guy with a garage and a car should have...especially if you have more than one car. I was more than impressed with this little desulphator/charger's ability to revive a battery that would have otherwise been junked. I have an e34M5 that is notorious for slowly killing batteries. After the battery was dead for over a month, I charged with my "big" battery charger as this cannot help batteries that are on the brink of death without being charged with a larger charger, then I put this on it for two weeks and it was nothing short of a miracle.

If you have a car that sits for long periods, you should get one of these little fellas.

I purchased the Battery Minder Plus to restore my boat battery. I am an electronics engineer and had researched what happens to a lead acid battery that causes it to loose its capacity. Though there are other causes, the most common one is sulphation, a coating that forms on the lead plates that is non-conductive reducing their ability to conduct electricity. My battery was so bad that even after many hours of charging on my charger's highest setting, it couldn't hold enough charge to operate the radio, much less engage the starter. I ordered the Battery Minder Plus (at roughly half the price of a new battery). It arrived this past Monday evening. Five days ago. Before I could begin charging, I had to force the Battery Minder into "Maintenance Mode" to start de-sulphating it. Basically zapping the battery with pulses of power that forces the sulphate to disolve. Eventually the battery began to take and hold a charge. This morning I was able to easily start the boat with only the battery. I'm very impressed. Very happy with the product. The manual that comes with it is a bit disorganized and quite redundant but most of the information you need is in there.

Keeps battery charged & conditioned, ready to go. Using it on snowmobile & utility tractor. Just what I was looking for. Appears to be sturdy with strong clips. Easy to use, all automatic.

Cobra MR HH475 FLT VHF Waterproof Two-Way Marine Radio with Bluetooth

Cobra MR HH475 FLT VHF Waterproof Two-Way Marine Radio with Bluetooth
  • Floating Waterproof Design and Orange Core Makes Retrieving Radio Easy if Dropped Overboard
  • Bluetooth Wireless Technology & Rewind Say- Again Feature
  • All NOAA Weather Channels & Emergency Weather Alert
  • Tri-Watch Allows Monitoring of Three Channels at Once (2 user selected & channel 16)
  • Unlimited memory channels allows programming for easy retrieval or scanning

After some research I found this radio very intriguing and purchased it. It had a high rating and a must buy through a sailing web site. Being into sea kayaking it is very important that the radios we use are water proof. Having the floating feature along with the burp feature is a plus then along comes the blue tooth capability, I was sold. I couldn't wait to get my radio. First day out on the water I want to see how well it floated and check out the burp feature. Well it floated great to bad it quite working with in a minute of being dunked. I emailed and called cobra and no response I called cobra again and talked to a live person who transferred me to factory service where I left a massage. No response. I called again and found out the return procedures and sent the radio back at my expense. Now I am willing to say that not everything comes out the way it should and that I was unlucky and got a defective radio. Well two weeks later I get a new radio. What do you do when you have a problem with a product? You go test it and see if it will fail in those conditions again. Well radio number two failed at being water proof to the JIS7 rating. This radio lasted a few seconds longer then the first one. Played the phone tag game again with Cobra. This time I made them pay for shipping so I had to wait another week for the label to make it to me. Sent radio number two in and three weeks later I received radio number three. So far this radio has lived up to the JIS7 water proof rating. I like the features it has. But I am just wondering if and when it will quit on me, if it does I am requesting my money back from Cobra, three times and you are out! Cobra could have done a better job communicating and calling me back. I never got a letter of apology about two radios being bad and I had to do all the work on trying to get the radios returned only once did they call back and that was after I left a message saying that I was not impressed with their product or customer service.

I purchased this radio for using on my Security job, and it is fantastic. It offers the most features for a great price, amazing range, crystal clear voice communications, and since it's lightweight and waterproof, it's not a burden to carry around. Since I'm on search and rescues periodically on a lake, the bluetooth feature is nice, as I can leave my phone securely in its pelican case and not have to worry about the radio getting wet.

All in all, this is hands down the BEST marine radio I've owned.

(I've used 4 or 5 other kinds at work, and eventually got this one for myself to make my life easier, and it was well worth every penny. I'd do it again in a heartbeat)

I have been using this radio for just under a year now. About 4 months ago I noticed that I was not able to transmit like I should, but I figured the range was just being interfered with by something. I use this in a kayak so I'm always sitting really low to the water. Today I went to my buddy's dive shop and tested this radio next to his. I could not hear anything coming through on his radio from mine. After doing everything I could think of to get it to work, with no success, I decided to open it up. Now, you aren't supposed to do this, but I did anyway. Upon opening it up I discovered that the entire circut board was covered in corosion. Waterproof? Hardly. Submersible? I wouldn't. You would be just as well off spending less money on a radio that doesn't advertise itself as waterproof, and keeping it in a dry bag or something. $100 dollars down the drain! Also, the bluetooth function never really worked like it should. I got it to pair with my phone ONCE. It never paired again after that. WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!

Good price/performance/functionality for a hand held to be used on a kayak or a small craft where occasional splashing is unavoidable. Blue tooth functionality lets you store your cell phone in a zip lock case for water protection while still be able to talk through the handheld for incoming calls. Blue tooth pairing with a Motorola Droid was straight forward. Weather and other channel scans help you aware of traffic in the area. Bright orange visibility, flotation with the rechargeable pack, and burp functions are very nice to have. Included is AA battery back pack that can provide additional talk time in case of emergency. Comes both with 110V and 12 V chargers and one charging crate. Could have used a second charging crate to secure on my 18 ft outboard. Include belt clip attaches to my kayak PFD and reduces clutter on a confined space sit on kayak while paddling and fishing. Easy to maintain, just rinse off the salt after using and use the burp function to self dry in a remote location.

  • No installation needed - attach and remove in seconds.
  • Custom designed for the HTC Thunderbolt.
  • Works in any vehicle! Mounts on any smooth surface, glass, dashboard or center console.
  • Pass through charging - simply insert your phone into the holder.
  • Great when using GPS Navigation.

I just got an HTC Thunderbolt a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to get a good car mount to both be able to use it hands free in the car and to charge it. I saw this item on amazon and it had the charger cord pass through so I ordered one and it's absolutely great. It attaches really solidly, and is pretty much fully adjustable in almost any position. It also comes with a sticker mount if you want to mount it to your dashboard instead of the windshield.

I found the best position for the mount is in the lower left corner of the windshield (though I'm really tall so having it along the top interferes with my sight lines of the road) where I can direct one of the A/C vents on it if needed. The HTC Thunderbolt is a great phone, but it tends to heat up when it's charging or in use for a long time.

The phone is really easy to get in and out of the mount, the only suggestion I'd offer is that if you plan on using the speakerphone in the car, make sure you open the kickstand before you put it in the car mount, since the speakerphone speaker is behind it. Otherwise your best bet is to get a bluetooth headset.

Anyway, this mount is awesome, I have had no problems with it so far, it holds the phone securely and lets you charge it if you have a car charger. It also automatically puts the phone into "Car Mode". All in all, totally worth the price!

My phone fits great without already having a protector case on it. The igrip lets me view the phone for maps or for seeing who's trying to call me. I love how it's adjustable in many ways and can attach in different places. I have it attached to the top of my windshield on the passenger side. It blocks the least of my view there but is still easily seen.

I've had this item for about a month now and it works entirely as advertised. The suction cup is strong so it stays on my windshield and it holds my phone very securely.

I just wish there were a way to route power to it without having a USB cable running down to the cigarette lighter socket.

I looked at a couple differnt windshield mounted car docks and this one had the best reviews, even over the one sold in the Verizon store, so I thought I would try it. This is the one you need if you have a Thunderbolt! Of course it does not work with any covers/cases, but small price to pay. The phone is easy to get in the cradle, the cradle is VREY easy to adjust and mount and take down when not in use. And the fact it automatically engages the CAR mode on the phone is nice and there are some good options from there.

So if you are looking for affordable, quality windshield mounted dock for your Thunderbolt you can't go wrong with this one!

Great way to use your phone as a GPS, handsfree dialer, or just a charger dock.... or all 3 at once. Only issues I've ever had are that the swivel/hinge controls are kinda hard to get to, and If your too rough with it the suction cup will give and it will fall. But other than that, awesome dock.

I install solar systems for missionaries in the heart of Africa and have had experience with many chargers. This one is by far the best. It has the best voltage/Hz tolerance. Most of our people run either on a generator system that functions 7hrs x 5 days a week or intermittent city power so we need maximum charge. Those on city power also suffer many surges and brown-outs and these charges keep on working. Our climate is very dusty and hot (+40C ambient 4-6 months of the year) The only problem I ever had was with an early version of the IQ4 module that maxed out the charger and caused it to over heat. These units are second to none.

Motorola Spirit GT Professional 4-Mile 1-Channel FRS Two-Way Radio
  • Up to 4-mile range
  • 8 UHF business-exclusive frequencies
  • Single-channel operation with 38 subcodes
  • Rechargeable NiMH battery operate up to 9 hours
  • Advanced voice activation for hands-free operation

This is a decieving radio. You need a business FCC license for it so you must apply for it and state your business need for these radio's. Its better to stick with GMRS or FRS unless you want to violate FCC R&R and use them for non-business use. There are FCC listeners everywhere that monitor the use of these frequencies and I have returned these radios and switched to GMRS. The claim that you have a 4 to 5 mile range is in perfect conditions, using these radios for the short time I had them gave me only minimal range increase from my FRS radios I've previously used. Range is dependent on the antennae and battery strength.

On the jobsite or in the workplace, professional two-way radios

provide instant communication with individuals or multiple groups.

Business communications made simple! The Spirit GT+ radio

is ideally suited for retail stores, restaurants, schools,

hospitals, event coordination, small businesses and more.

Special "wait-to-talk" feature requires that you wait for

all the other conversations from the other companies that

share your frequency to stop transmitting so you can talk.

Spirit® Professional two-way radios operate on business

radio frequencies, (not FRS) which adds to congestion on

the already overcrowded business radio service.

Not recommended for personal use.

Two channel operation allows twice as many users to

share the same frequencies with you and requires frequency

coordination with other companies in your area.

"Up to 4 mile range" means that you will recieve interference

and unwanted chatter from everybody else within a 4 mile radius.

Regardless of which 2 of the 8 frequencies you choose,

there will always be somebody telling you to "get off my channel!".

When you ask that person for their license information,

they will explain that "I don't need a license!".

When you explain the rules to them, they will argue

"your rules Do NOT apply to me!", then they will

I bought these radios online a few years ago. Have used it since for weddings, road trips, ski trips, camping, vacation, cruises and in hotel rooms. The radio is great with ranges from 1-4 miles depending on the terrain you are in. Just used them up at Lake Tahoe and the range is great! We had friends in the registration lodge as we were on the other side of the mountain and could hear them fine!

Con: I can't tell what other Motorola models are compatible with the "Motorola Spirit GT Professional 2-Way Radio". Wish there was a list somewhere.

Wild Game Innovations 6/12-Volt eDRENALINE Battery Charger

Wild Game Innovations 6/12-Volt eDRENALINE Battery ChargerI bought one of these because i needed to charge 6v and 12v batteries. It has served me well. I can say on the downside that i'm not sure if it's good as a battery maintainer. It charges the 12v batteries to 14.7v before it reads full with the green light and keeps them at that voltage... i didn't think these sla batteries were supposed to go that high in voltage but it doesn't seem to have damaged the battery in any way and it does take a while to charge... for being 500 mah i figure if i have a 7ah battery to expect it to take 14 hours from dead to full, it takes about 8 to 10. I noticed with my multimeter in the off position it still produces about 2.5 volts... not sure why. It does a better job with 6 volt batteries than 12 volt, again, not sure why... but it eventually reaches full on each. I am pleased with the product and have ordered a second since i have a few batteries i'd like to keep full and am happy with the charger.

seems to work very well I especially like the indicator light to let you know the status of your batteries.

Ramsond 100 Watt 100w W Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12V Battery Charging

Ramsond 100 Watt 100w W Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12V Battery ChargingI've bought three of these panels, but had to send the second one back. With a solar panel, either it works or it doesn't. The two I've kept are working great, even though it's winter right now, and my panels aren't on a tracker. It's cloudy and raining as I write, and they are charging at one third of an amp. When the sun is out, my batteries are back to fully charged in no time. I use my system to listen to Sirius radio, and to watch two to three hours of TV on a 32-inch flat panel LCD screen daily. The price is right, and the quality top notch!

I had purchased two 110 watt solar panels from Northern Tools that looked to be of high quality. The best I have received from both panels combined is 130 watts; this occured once. The average was 90 to 100 watts. I purchased a 100 watt panel from Ramsond to add to the system.

Now, I am producing 220 to 240 watts consistently. I purchased a second 100 watt panel and just installed it. I am producing 380 watts on a cloudy day. I can't wait until I have steady sunshine. But, to get to the point, once I had received the Ramsond panel and inspected it, it looked to be of lower quality. Boy, was I schocked!

After what I have experienced so far, Ramsond has won me over as a long term customer. I plan to purchase 12 more panels from

Ramsond and three charge controllers. I am also checking into their wind turbines. The one I purchased from Northern is not performing very well.

I had also received a call from Grant with Ramsond just to see if the product had arrived in good condition and was operating properly. In this day and age, I was impressed that I would receive personal service on such a small purchase. The company is very interested in assuring that their products meet their customer's expectations. I will not hesitate to recommend this comapny or their products.

In short Great Product,Great Company!

I received two initial panels with defects.

1) Shifted cell that almost touches an adjacent cell had the tabbing wire in a bind as well as the tabbing wire being off of the cell buss traces and covering part of the light sensitive area of cell itself. Poor silicon sealing around back of panel.

2) The other panel had better tabbing quality. Most obvious glaring problem was an approx 5mmx5mm piece of opaque debris trapped between the glass and a cell partially blocking part of the light sensitive area of the cell.

I contacted RAMSOND and sent pictures of the defects to alert their QC people in China. After sending another follow up email they responded and offered a credit of $30 for both of the defective panels or to replace them. I opted for the credit as the defects did not render the panels useless... They said this QC problem was atypical and I could tell it was, so I ordered more panels when they went on sale...

Subsequent 100W panels I purchased from RAMSOND had no trapped debris but tabbing gets off of a tad from the cells buss trace covering some of the light sensitive areas of the cells but an improvement over pervious panels overall. Blue coating they use on the new cells seems inconsistent so you get different shades of cell color from black to light blue, strange looking. THe first panels were more consistant with the coating. The new panels I received use physically different shape cells than the first two I received just a few weeks apart so they aesthetically don't match...minor issue though. I will be testing the newest ones I just received fully for electrical specs and follow up later.

Overall the panels are not a bad deal if you get them on sale. RAMSOND ran a sale of $184 for the 100W panels recently on their website, which is a super great deal for monocrystalline panels, but it is now back to $269 per panel. I'll wait for another sale at $184 with free shipping to buy more.

Update: tested all panels with watts up meter in full clear near summer sun and a setup for max power point. 80w best these can do on average...Will be contacting Ramsond, but I dread it as their customer service has not been a positive experience the numerous times I have tried to deal with them... They had 80w panels around this time but had just discontinued them, I wonder if I receive "mislabeled" 80w panels sold as 100w panels....would make sense since the price was much lower than it is now...who knows.

This panel is well made. Puts out power in low light conditions. It comes with MC-4 connectors attached. At this price it is a very good deal for a 100 watt panel.

PowerLine 1,300mA Universal AC Adapter with Compatibility Tips and USB Power Port 90304

PowerLine 1,300mA Universal AC Adapter with Compatibility Tips and USB Power Port 90304
  • Energy Star Compliant
  • Universal design works with most battery powered devices
  • Complete with 7 plug tips making it ideal and convenient
  • Switchable between 3 volts and 12 volts

I didn't read the instructions before using this charger! Who does?? Well... BIG MISTAKE! I ended up ruining my device. I bought this charger to replace the charger I lost for my Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor with 1.8" Screen Silver. Because I inserted the tip into the plug using the wrong polarity and voltage, I fried my baby video monitor. I eventually fixed the monitor, but one of the buttons stopped working on it permanently due to power overload and it no longer works if it's not connected to the charger. AFTER I read the instructions, I set the tip to the right polarity and voltage and the monitor charges.

I'm so mad at myself, but it's not the charger's fault! Ugh!!!

Minus 1 star because the USB port does NOT simultaneously work when the charger is charging one of the tips! That really sucks cause I thought I would be able to charge my baby monitor AND cell phone/ipod at the same time from the same outlet!

BE VERY CAREFUL AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PLUGGING IT INTO ANY DEVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make my mistake! I'm paying for it now!!!

Buy PowerLine 1,300mA Universal AC Adapter with Compatibility Tips and USB Power Port 90304 Now

This Powerline Universal AC adapter can be used in place of disposable batteries. In addition, there is an USB power port for devices that draw power via an USB cord. It is NOT a charger; it cannot be used for electronic gadgets with rechargeable batteries, although the USB port can be used as a power outlet for devices with built-in or plugged-in chargers. This adapter plugs into a 100-120VAC outlet only and thus may not be compatible with the electrical grids of some foreign countries. The current draw is rated at 1300 mA; that is large for an AC adapter (See Footnote). I bought an exact model of this adapter in a retail store about 3-1/2 years ago and it is still functioning perfectly. It is a proven product, folks.

The blades of this AC adapter can be folded flat for easy storage. There are 5 voltage settings: 3V, 4.5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, and 12V, and an USB power setting. It comes with 7 interchangeable plugs of various sizes, secured in a storage bar. Note that you can only use either the USB port or a power plug at any single time, but not both at the same time. Before you install a plug onto the cord, you need to find out the polarity of your device; it is either tip positive or tip negative. You can usually find the information right next to the power socket of your electronic device. Install the plug by lining up the + or symbol with the word "Tip" on the plug receptor of the cord. The wrong polarity may harm electronic gadgets with delicate integrated circuits. It is therefore best to obtain the polarity information ahead of time.

Footnote: If you are buying an adapter to replace an old one that came with a product, buy one with a current rating equal to or more than the original.

I bought it as a companion to an electronic and unfortunately it didn't work, tested it with other items and it works just fine! Ended up returning the other piece but keeping this charger. I have gone around testing it with other electronics like my cell phone using the USB port and it also works. I am really happy with this purchase!

This adapter does not allow you to use the USB port at the same time as the universal tip part. Also, the 1.3A rating is for the tip portion only. The USB portion is a mere 300mA.

Rated down one point because there was no mention that the tips are in 90 degree configurations. Makes the tips shorter than a straight configuration and more apt to not fit in all the way. Barely stays in my device because it's too short. Otherwise, the adapter works well.

I needed a new charger for my Ipod but I didn't want to have to travel to other stores or spend more than I thought a charger was worth. Came across this while searching and was skeptical, but for only 2 bucks I figured why not.

Turned out to be a very good purchase. Works great with my classic iPod and iPod Touch, and has still been working well since I bought it almost a year back. Seems like a lot of other reviewers are having issues with it not working for long, but that hasn't been the case here. It is rather generic looking/cheaply made, but that doesn't effect its use for me and for the price I'm happy it worked out on my end.

  • 400 mAh rechargeable battery
  • Pass-through mode for iPhone charge and sync to computer with built in flashlight function

This device does work, but be sure to recognize that it's rated at 400 mAh, the same as an iPod nano. An iPod Classic is 850 mAh and an iPhone 3GS has a 1400 mAh battery. So you can double the usable time of your nano, but nowhere near that on your iPhone. It is small, light, and convenient to carry. Also has a flashlight feature. You cannot charge the battery and power your iPod at the same time; this may be important to some. The short cable on the USB plus seems a bit flimsy, but it is conveniently carried within the body of the device.

  • Universal hose adaptor connects to dust extraction ports on Porter Cable 18V detail sander, rotary saw, and jig saw
  • Translucent bowl makes it easy to view remaining capacity
  • Ergonomic Handle with On-Off Trigger provides maximum comfort and control

If ever there was some truth to the saying, "You get what you pay for," this is it. By the time you purchase a battery and the charger, you will have spent a lot more money than on any competing product (to my knowledge). But this thing is worth every penny, in my opinion. It's VERY strong, thanks to the 18V battery. I have no complaints about it and my wife loves it, too.

Here's a tip for saving some money and killing two birds with one stone. I ordered the Bare-tool 18-Volt Cordless vac, but I also ordered the combination bundle of a Porter-Cable 18-Volt drill with charger and TWO 18-Volt NiCd batteries. When it's all said and done, I paid only $12.00 for the drill and its carrying case, over the combined price of buying the vac, the charger and two NiCd 18-Volt batteries separately. We all know who uses the vac the most my wife but I got a two-speed, high-torque cordless drill out of the deal for just 12 bucks more!

We keep one battery on the charger and one on the vac. Best of all, when a battery reaches end-of-life, we'll only have to buy another battery, instead of buying the entire tool as is the case with most rechargeable vacs!

Enjoy!

Porter-Cable's "handheld vaccum" does the job and actually picks stuff up. We have all hardwood and tile floors and there was nothing more frustrating than waiting for our previous alternate brand handheld vacuum to pick up a dustball! This is a great tool to avoid pulling out the full-size vacuum between thorough cleaning...see it, got it..quick. Coupled with the Li-Ion battery technology there is no painful slowdown to the work. It works until the battery needs to be charged and then charging in quick. I am buying a second one for the garage. I highly recommend this fine, but fairly priced tool!

I have lots of the Porter Cable tools, starting with the 4 Piece Combo Kit, and I think they're top notch. At first look and use this Hand Vac seemed to live up to the same high performance level as the others. A good balance, handy trigger, solid bin lock, and more power than I'd ever seen in a dust-buster type Vac such as this. Looked like another hit at a fair price until I tried to clean it for the first time.

I went to the manual to see what was recommended and they were good enough to offer these simple cleaning notes or is it non-cleaning notes along with detailed diagrams:

DO NOT BRUSH.

DO NOT clean filter media with abrasive materials.

DO NOT scrub to clean between pleats.

DO NOT spray water or high pressure air on the filter...

Well so much with what to , "DO NOT". What to do? They must have some really high-tech method for cleaning and maintaining the filter like a Violet Laser Hand-Wand, or an Ultrasonic Vibro-Offinator.

It turns out they do one tried and tested for over 6,287 years:

"To restore optimum airflow tap filter end cap against a hard surface to loosen debris"

In other words GO OUT AND BEAT IT ON A ROCK TO GET IT CLEAN ! ! !, {Grunt...Grunt...}

That's what you got? Really, Porter Cable?

You have this great set of tools, well built with a solid feel and super power and now longevity galore with the Lithium Ion batteries, and you come up with a filter that can't be cleaned. Within a minute you can tell that the suction, though just as loud, has gone down by maybe 25% as the filter sucks everything to it like Velcro. Then to clean it you can beat it 10, 20, 30 times against a box or table and junk will still be coming out. This would be a 6 Star tool if it didn't have a 2 Star filter.

Take a moment to relish the power of this little Vac as you use it fresh out of the box because no matter how many times you may tap-tap-tap-tap into the Future it will never be as clean or have as much suction as it does that first day. I will admit that even at 75-80% suction it still works pretty good if you clean the filter often. Very often.

A word to all you after-market manufactures out there. You could make some good bucks by making a filter system you could either air blow off, or water rinse off, or Teflon coat off if Porter Cable is not going to re-think this. I easily spend more time banging the filter free of debris than using the tool itself and if there is a little wind outside, or even if you're inside over a trash can, there is always a mess as your hands get covered with fine vacuum dust from the clouds you are "Tapping" into the air.

Maybe I need a vacuum to vacuum my vacuum with. That's probably the next tool they'll release.

U P D A T E: While the Porter Cable sleeve will adapt to many attachments from your home vacuum, the kit DOES NOT come with any brushes, [I knew that], so when I was looking around for some I came across this little set,Micro Vacuum Attachment Kit sold at Miniatures.

For the price, {$9}, I had to give it a go and it's a great little set. I didn't get the stinky ones like many reviewed on their link, and everything quickly adapted for use on this Porter Cable. With an old camera strap attached to the loop in the Hand Vac and using the small tube and brushes this now cleans keyboards, TV's and nic nac shelves as well as the usual quick spills and really hard to reach places. Unless you're using a huge vacuum and this little hose alone to clean up your entire house, I would ignore the Engineer's design of the flow valve always being partially open. I need all the suction this little thing has, which is accomplished by taping over the half-open vent holes. Engineers. Help us. This little vac is now a 7 Star tool with a 2 star filter.

Although I haven't used anything cordless that is comparable to this guy, I owned a B&D Dirt Devil years ago and this guy beats it hands down. Clever bagless design and relatively strong suction give it the edge over the old corded DD. The included hose and crevice tool allowed me to set the unit down and aim the suction right next to my drill bit when working on a door lockset and keep the chips off of the carpet. It empties out easily and the filter comes relatively clean when tapped into a trash can. However, I'm not sure it will last forever and the unit didn't come with any hints as to how to find/order more.

This is the only handheld vac I've found that has adequate suction and last more than a few minutes before recharging is required. The vac comes without a charger or battery, and 2 batteries and a charger cost $ 89. However, I found a Porter-Cable combination package with a cordless drill, a saw, and 2 batteries and a charger, for $ 89. So if you are buying the vac, check out some of the Porter-Cable combinations. I ended up with the vac, a cordless drill, a saw, a charger, and 2 batteries for $ 121.

Monster A-IP-FM-CH-PS Wireless FM Transmitter

Monster A-IP-FM-CH-PS Wireless FM Transmitter
  • Wireless FM transmitter/charger for playing iPod through car stereo system
  • Broadcasts iPod tunes through stereo via choice of almost any FM radio frequency
  • Charges iPod during use while optimizing audio performance
  • 3 favorite station presets; 24k gold contacts for max power transfer
  • Compatibility: iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod mini, 3G iPod, 4G iPod with click wheel, iPod Color, iPod Video

First off, people are getting this transmitter confused with the previous Monster FM transmitter. You are NOT limited to only 8 stations. This transmitter allows you to program in ANY station you choose, and it's very easy to do so.

Pros:

You can program in any station! The stations are NOT predetermined so any empty station you find, just program it in and youre set to go, which makes this perfect for road trips.

Charges up your iPod while you go.

You can set three 'favourite' stations so you can switch back and forth between a couple if one goes out.

Very simple and easy to use. Not a lot of cords to get tangled up.

Cons

Every FM transmitter you buy for your iPod is going to have a loss in sound quality. It is NOT going to sound like youre playing a CD. It sounds like the radio.

No dock or anything to set the little station switcher on. I would've like even a double sided sticker mount so I could stick it to the dash or something instead of it hanging there, but I'm really just being picky here.

Finding a station in the surrounding Cleveland area was tough! There are hardly any completely static stations (I never realized how many darn country stations there are here, yeesh.) So far I have found 4 open stations. However, this is NOT the companys fault. Finding a clear open station is soley going to depend on where you live and where you are when you drive.

I found 3 completely open static stations starting at 87.5 and up. OF COURSE, this FM transmitter starts at 88.1. Grrr. But it wasn't a problem because in the end I was able to find 4 open ones throughout the spectrum. However, it would've been nice if it started at 87.5.

Okay this is COMPLETELY an aesthetic complaint but I dislike red LED lights. My car has blue so it doesn't match, but once again, that is completely nitpicking.

All in all, this is worth the money. It really is a must if you want to play your iPod on the road, but don't expect it to sound like your surround sound home theatre system. It is an FM transmitter.

I recently purchased this product along with the 20GB iPod, as I was tired of constantly having to swap CD's in the car on the way to work. And forecasting several trips to Tahoe this season, I knew I wanted to have continuous music on my journey.

The product has several stations to select from, however, being in a metro area, all but one of them is actually occupied by a very strong local station signal.

Before buying the product, I recommend checking your radio dial to see if you have heavy stations from 88.1 to 89.5. If you've got a heavy station on all those channels, this product isn't going to provide the best performance. As the product manual says it's tough to compete with a 50,000megawatt transmitter :).

I was able to find one station that was mostly unused here, 88.5. It has some background static, but no music or talking. As soon as I plug the device into the ciglighter, there is an audible pop on the radio so I know it's broadcasting. I did follow the instructions to increase the treble on my stereo for best results, and it does help.

Because of the way it connects to the iPod, I have found that adjusting the iPod volume does nothing to the transmission. You'll need to use your radio volume to change it accordingly. In between songs you'll probably hear some static too, as if there's a strong signal around you, it will bleed in.

This morning I noticed that I got quite a bit of interference when a large truck drove by...perhaps from their CB/radio system, but I can't be sure.

Aside from these things, which frankly I consider minor compared to swapping 50 CD's, it was well worth the purchase, especially if you do not have a car with an iPod dock, or a tape deck (if you have a tape deck, you can get the tape accessory instead of this one, and you won't have to compete with radio waves).

Enjoy!

Anyone who owns an Apple iPod realizes the importance of being able to listen to your collection of songs anytime, anywhere. It is for this reason that I researched a mobile device for my unit. Originally, I was determined to buy an iTrip due to the compatibility of the system. Well, upon further investigation, I discovered that for a little more I could get the Monster Cable rather than the iTrip.

The two are capable of the same thing; playing I-Pod tunes through a car radio receiver. The iTrip simply plugs into the top of the iPod and the music comes through the car speakers. Unfortunately, its simplicity makes up for its clarity.

There is much more static with this system, due to the fact that the reception is not as strong. On the other hand, the Monster Cable gives the option of eight different stations, one that is sure to be suitable for the area. By simply changing the setting on the deck to match the radio station, the music comes through without any static and very good clarity.

Another major difference in comparing the two units is their portability. The iTrip, although cordless, can not be placed too far from its base. That can be a challenge when driving since the movement of the car can cause it to fall if not properly secured. The Monster has a cord which holds the iPod in place and allows a stronger reception resulting in better sound.

Finally, the battery life is a very important issue when deciding on which unit to purchase. The iTrip drains the battery life of the iPod twice as fast as it normally would last. Therefore, long trips can be challenging for this device. However, the Monster Cable is designed to actually charge the iPod as long as it is plugged in, regardless of whether or not it is playing music. It is a great feature since the battery is virtually always being charged to its capacity. Finally, the battery life is a very important issue when It is obvious that the Monster Cable is a far better choice to take your I-Pod with you in the car. Even though it may cost more, the portability, convenience, and especially the quality of sound are definitely worth it

Let me reiterate something people keep missing here: This product (note the "Plus" in the title) DOES allow tuning to just about every station on the spectrum (I believe excepting the lowest frequency, 87.9 or something like that).

The BIG advantage here over the previous version (also available on Amazon for $10 less, and elsewhere for $20 less) is two-fold:

1. If you didn't have a station below 88.9 open, the previous product was unusable.

2. FM stations in the "mid range", from what I understand, have a better frequency response than in either the "low range" or the "upper range", which leads to a noticably better quality sound (I could hear the difference between a low-88 and 97.5 quite clearly, but a lot of other factors also come into play here such as what the other stations are broadcasting, etc).

Note that your satisfaction with this product will depend largely on the vehicle and sound system you are using it with. Some radios do a better job of "locking" onto a carrier wave that is only slightly stronger than the general broadcast wave. Some cars isolate the external antenna such that an internal radio transmitter has much less of an effect. For my purposes, I've used this product in both a Toyota Echo and in a GMC van; the GMC stock radio picks up the Monster transmission nearly across the entire dial, loud and clear; the Toyota's radio only picks up at one dial location (97.5) and even then will often pick up chirping around construction sites (which it also does with regular radio; like I said, I believe this has to do with not locking on to the carrier wave very well).

Finally, comparing this to other products. I started with a Griffin iTrip. That device was very nice, but had two fatal flaws:

1. It did not allow for easy changing of the radio station (and I absolutely hate having a bunch of encoded "songs" in my playlist just so I can change the iTrip frequency if necessary!)

2. It did not charge the device.

However, it had two points in its favor:

1. A very strong signal (I've heard charger-transmitters like the Monster one which yielded less transmission oomph).

2. Works well with my iPod in its protective case.

Now, a word on that latter.

I like my iPod. I like it's shiny back. I like it's pristine white front. I do not like scratches. More importantly, I do not like the thought of minor bumps causing the hard drive inside to crash.

As a result, I keep it in a protective case every moment that I can. I take the case off at night to dock it with my computer, but that's it.

The vast majority of car charger/FM transmitters require you to "dock" the iPod in their own little cradle. None of those cradles allows for a protective case, so far as I've been able to find. Many many nice FM transmitter solutions are completely unusable in my opinion because of this.

Moreover, I like to be able to hold my iPod when pressing its buttons etc. Any "cradle" system which locks its location to within three inches of the cigarette lighter (which Toyota in its infinite wisdom chose to place six inches above the floor on the passenger side) is also completely unusable.

Anyway, I wanted to get a transmitter that charged the iPod, allowed for easy, full-spectrum channel selection, and still both cut through the static in my Toyota AND didn't require a confining "cradle" to operate.

The Monster device here definitely meets my needs. As I said, it does well (actually moderately better than the iTrip) in my Toyota, allows me to place my iPod in a nice little bin next to my fingertips, and makes my commute a refreshing one.

One last note on this: I have noticed that the use of a cigarette lighter "splitter" so that you can plug both this and, say, a cell phone charger in at the same time, will tend to cause problems with the Monster transmitter and the iPod (causing my iPod to reboot). I think it says more about Toyota's anemic electrical system than the Monster device, but just wanted to throw that little tidbit out there.

I bought this with great expectations because Monster Cable normally make great products. But was deeply disappointed when I hooked it up to my car. I got nothing but static. It was like not being tuned all the way to a station. I took it back the same day I bought it. I believe it's where my FM antenna sit at on my Honda Civic and where the FM transmitter is. The box states that it's range is 3.5 ft and my FM antenna for my car sits on the rear window. Just a few inches out of range. So I believe that's where the static is coming from. I also have XM satellite and XM wants you to put there transmitter right next to your antenna for premium sound so I believe that's why I and other people get static because it's impossible to get the FM transmitter closer to my FM antenna. So if your antenna sits on your rear view mirror or on your trunk, you may get static. But if your antenna is on the hood or front window, then this maybe a good buy for you. But for me, it's a bad buy. It should have a stronger signal so it can reach antennas that are in the rear of the car.

This is the first time I've ever written a less than complimentary review. This time however I have to let folks know the extremely poor experience I had with the vendor during follow-up email tech discussions. My first complaint was with the instruction manual that obviously was written by someone with English as their third language. Very confusing and in some cases complete lack of ampifying information. Secondly there is no phone link with the company for tech support, email submission only. Nearly all email responses just referred me back to the instruction manual. Why didn't I just return the product? Believe me I regret not doing that especially after purchasing a Sunforce controller that works exceptionally well with simple, fully understandable instruction manual and "live" customer tech support. This is the second time I've submitted a review on this product. My first review generated an unsolicited email from the vendor asking if I would reconsider my review and gave me detailed instructions on how to revise/retract my review. Even those instructions didn't work. My first review was 3-stars, this one is 2-stars and the only reason it's not a 1-star is that the product works well, once you figure out on your own how it works.

Black Dual 12v Dc Double Car Cigarette Socket Adapter

Black Dual 12v Dc Double Car Cigarette Socket Adapter
  • 2 adapter sockets
  • LED indicator
  • 12v Compatible

This dual charger is OK for the low amp charging jobs like GPS, Bluetooth and Cellphone auto charging. However, give it a bigger job like an 8 amp draw mini moto air pump (for pumping air into the tires) and it blew this 12 Volt Two Way DC Car Charger into a smelly mess (along with my cig lighter fuse). FYI-The Scosche 12 volt twin adapter is the same as this one.

I just recieved this item and used it for about 4 hours before it overheated and stopped working. It cannot handle very much, so tread lightly.

I received the item very quickly as promised, no worries there. used the device for 1 week and 1 of the 2 sides stopped working. I did receive an email from the seller after advising my situation, I was impressed by the fast response. this may or may not have been a factory defect. Bottom line, is the unit broke, for whatever reason.

I got this product to charge my phone, use an FM transmitter and use a GPS system in any order. I have not had any problems of the unit overloading like the other reviewers have described. I would just use caution before plugging in anything that draws a lot of power. One thing you need to consider is that it may need to be positioned vertically as in my car it blocks the stick shift. But not a big deal. Overall a good deal and get the job done.

It works perfectly. In my all three car. While going to road trip, this is very helpful. while charging GPS, I will charge my iphone.
