Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black)

Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices
  • PowerBlock Dual wall charger works with AC outlets form 100V to 240V.
  • Charge 2 devices at the same time.
  • PowerJolt 12V car charger works in your vehicle's cigarette lighter or 12V accessory socket.
  • Replaceable auto fuse protects from surges.
  • Illuminated ring changes color for charging status at a glance.

Problem: The 3g iPhone drains your battery like no other. If you're on a road trip or if you use the GPS extensively, you're going to need a car charger.

What we were looking for: I've read too many horror stories of third party chargers bricking iPhones. So I wanted something reliable. I looked for items they sold at the apple store here on Amazon, as it is much cheaper here. I figured if Apple was selling them, they must be more reliable than these other cheaper alternatives that have been damaging phones.

Pros:

1. USB! I think this will be the trend for chargers. More and more chargers will be USB cords, so you won't have to get a billion tips for your different devices. You just plug in the USB cord that came with your product in the first place. This is a 5.5 V system, so both my iPhone and my Jawbone work.

2. Fuse: I like that it has a fuse. Its very reassuring after reading how many iPhones have been messed up by third party chargers.

3. Dual USB on the powerblock (AC home wall adapter not cigarettelighter). You can charge 2 usb devices at once. Note that the powerjolt (cigarette lighter adapter) only has 1 usb port. I've read that other car adapters that incorporate 2 usb ports hum annoyingly.

4. Small car adapter unit: barely sticks out.

Cons:

1. The powerblock is a bit bulky. I was planning on taking this with me on trips, but I think I'll take the iPhone charger instead and leave this one at home.

Conclusion: Great car charger for the 3g iPhone, with a fuse for assurance. The powerblock unit has 2 usb devices allowing you to charge 2 usb devices at once. Just use your usb cable, no more annoying car charger adapter tips to deal with.

I bought this for the dual wall adaptor but I incorrectly assumed the DC Car adaptor was dual as well. The car adaptor only charges one item at a time.

Overall, this is a great product, or two products. Unlike most other iPhone/iPod chargers, this requires you to provide your own USB to dock connector cable(s). But, I have several of these that I've accumulated over the years, so it's not a problem for me. Plus, I like that I can power/charge other USB devices, like my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx 2.6-Inch Mapping Handheld GPS (for use in the car) and my Jawbone Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin-Black (Jawbone II). I like how the ring around the car charger glows different colors depending on whether the iPod is charging or fully charged. This is also the first car charger I've seen with a changeable fuse, in case it's necessary. My only complaint is that Griffin could have put two USB ports in the car charger so both units could charge two devices (I have seen some other solutions that include two USB ports, like the Scosche USB12V2 Dual USB Car Charger).

Want Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black) Discount?

Griffin makes good products and the PowerDuo Charger is a good product that does what is needed. I have the 12volt plugged into the car and the dual home charger in the house. It sure is nice to be able to plug in an iPod for a charge without all the syncing that comes with charging on the Mac.

This product works for our 2g Touch and 4g Nano. Any iPod that charges over USB should work with this. At a discounted Amazon price and with the reputation of Griffin; I couldn't go wrong. Highly recommended.

I like both items. The car charger is the best. It's tiny and unassuming. The red and green light let's you know easily if the phone is charged or not. The dual charger is cool to charge more than one product. My only gripe is that it pulls out of sockets easily. but that's not a reason not to buy it all. It's small and convenient and cuts down on the bulk of multiple chragers having to be carried.

Ramsond 10 Watt Solar Panel 10w W Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12V Battery Tri

Ramsond 10 Watt Solar Panel 10w W Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12V Battery Trickle Charging Charger RVI hooked up five 10W Ramsond panels and a SunRay 1500-3000W inverter the other day out back. My wife and I wanted to do a little experiment to eventually supplement our energy costs and see if having a backup system was feasible for our home use. So far so good. Initially we only hooked up two of the panels and eventually all five into a small array through the inverter/generator. As of right now, the system is running quite well and provides enough power to serve as a test once we invest in a larger system. The construction of the panels is more than adequate. We did have some issues getting it all set up, but that was partly our fault for not checking how to hook everything up beforehand. We'll probably upgrade to a 100W panel or ten later on, but as a test it seems like several 10W panels & one SunRay are an efficient beginner's kit. I'm sure I'll be posting an update once we upgrade to a heftier system.

Fantastic 10W panel and only 12" x 13"! Connected the panel to a Yuasa 7 A-Hr 12V battery through a home-brew solar power battery charger. Very happy with the panel and its ability to maintain a charge to the battery and run the low-power equipment attached. It is truly a 10W panel and I can easily draw 0.8 Amps without any reduction in voltage at 12.5 Volts. (10W = 12.5V x 0.80A)

Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio

  • Full-graphic backlit display with contrast adjustment, backlight timer, and provides battery gauge
  • Digital group call capabilities include public-group calling up to 5 public groups; 2 default public groups (channel 1, public 1-2)

Bought a pair of these radios during a US vacation. Range is practically at par with those common FRS/GMRS radios, don't expect more, especially not outside of a building. Inside larger buildings, the Motorola DTR410 really rocks, range is very good, even over a couple of floors. What makes this radio better than the cheaper FRS/GMRS is the quality of the communication between the units. It really sounds very well, no distortion, very loud and clear and without any noise/chatter. I also love the fact that the radio shows you if the other radio is in range. This is a fantastic feature which I have never seen on FRS/GMRS radios. The build quality is also absolutely great and the radio is very robust and rugged.

So if you are using your two way radio mainly in larger buildings/structures like hotels, malls, cruise ships, etc., the Motorola DTR410 is really great. If you need a two way radio for outdoor activities, a GMRS radio might offer a greater range in the open field.

Since using the DTR410 for almost a year now, I never looked back (former FRS/GMRS radios).

Highly recommended but not cheap. You get what you pay for though.

This two way radio is good for a big open site and small buildings, but for larger concrete building structures, they do not communicate well as the specifications state. Has good features overall, but could not communicate with them throughout a relatively large reinforced concrete building.

I tested a pair of these radios against a pair of 4 watt UHF portables and the range of these radios was a lot further. I belive it is due to the fact that these radios operate on 900mhz and are digital.

Want Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio Discount?

Do not purchase this radio unless you plan to use it indoors, like inside a warehouse, a store, or a mid-size work place. I bought a pair of the DTR650's, which is the same as the DTR410, but with a better antenna (supposedly). The furthest I was able to talk to the other radio was only about three blocks. That is terrible for a radio that costs over $250.

You will also need to learn to use the special menu features to program it and select your contacts. You need to choose the people that you need to talk to. You also need to give each radio a name or alias (unless you want to keep your default 123456789 number to identify yourself in other caller ID's), and you can only change your user or radio name with programming software from your PC. The software is great and it's free, but you'll need to purchase the programming cable to connect the radios to the PC. This cable is NOT a USB cable; it's a serial DB9 cable. Who the heck still uses DB9 serial cables, Motorola???!!!

Also, these are cereal box-quality radios. They feel very light, like a toy walkie talkie you would buy for your kids. For this design, Motorola basically took a small Nextel phone or a cordless phone that operates in the 900 MHz range and put it inside this big cheap plastic radio housing.

I'm going back to my Motorola RDM series and use their scramble technology for privacy, thank you very much... I can get at least a mile and a half distance with them, and I know they're going to last longer.

Save 21% Off

There is about half second delay in speech, so you have to wait extra before you can start talking. Very weird. Also, sometimes when I pushed the PTT button the radio wouldn't connect to the other one. I'd have to let go the button for a couple of seconds and then retry. Returning them back to the seller today. Not impressed.

Interstate Batteries 12V 7.2Ah Sealed Batter IBSBSL1075

Interstate Batteries 12V 7.2Ah Sealed Batter IBSBSL1075I am completely happy with this Interstate battery, which is an exact replacement for the original battery that was installed with my FIOS service. It seemed to cost a bit more than some others of the same size, but Interstate is a brand that I like (and trust), so I paid a small premium for this battery. It seems worth it, however, particularly given that the beeping sound from the FIOS unit has ceased. It fits perfectly into the FIOS wall box, and the terminals are spot on, fit-wise. Delivery on time and in good condition. Satisfied.

Its a battery. What can I say? It charged up. It works. Got here in very good time.

It fit my UPS.

I used this to replace the backup battery of my alarm system. My alarm system company wanted $70 for a service visit plus $40 for the battery. This battery is the same brand that they use and is as easy to change as the AA battery in your typical flashlight. It charged quickly and has worked perfectly since installation. As for those who are reporting problems with other sellers, I ordered mine from a company called Cream City Hobbies and the battery was Interstate, exactly as described. I no longer see them listed as an Amazon seller and cant vouch for the other sellers listed.

FM Transmitter & Car Charger with LCD Screen - for Apple iPod / Iphone / Itouch / Nano - High Qualit

FM Transmitter & Car Charger with LCD Screen - for Apple iPod / Iphone / Itouch / Nano - High Quality digital Sound - Automatically powers and recharges battery with car adapterI purchased this exact item off of Amazon and got a deal, $14.00.

Like they say you get what you pay for. There was only one review so I really had nothing to go on when I ordered this, but I figured for $14.00 I would take a chance.

I got the item and it looked good, quality.

Unfortunately it doesn't work as great as it looks, which is obviously much more important!

It does plug in, has power... it does charge my ipod and I can play my ipod through basically any channel.

However the engine interference noise that it sends through my speakers is enough to make me not use it unless I am desperate.

Also the sound quality of the music is by far less than good.

When I use my old battery operated FM transmiter the sound is above good.

When using this transmitter the sound quality is below average.

I wish I would have spent the money and just purchased a more expensive transmitter with multiple good reviews.

OH... also I have tried using this on high channels, lows channels, in between channels to see if the intereference would go away or sound quality would improve, it did not.

I have a 4th Gen. Ipod Nano. Had been using an FM transmitter by Griffin, with the 4' cord and the control module in the mid-part of cord. Didn't like it cuz wouldn't charge my ipod and didn't like the long cord laying all over the car getting in the way. So I searched a lot and settled on this model, have now used it for several hours, and am very pleased because:

1) it does in fact charge a 4th Gen. Nano

2) fits snugly in cigarette lighter

3) blue back-lit display looks cool, visible day or night, easy to reach and operate from driver's seat

4) easy to work the simple controls, which are always stationary since not-mid-cord

5) cord is nice and short and has coils, not sloppy and loose

6) my Nano sounds *great* on my FM stereo as transmitted by this unit

7) seller shipped it fast, packed it right nice job!

TIPS:

1) be sure to try a lot of FM settings to get away from static and interference. I tried many before settling on 95.3 here in No. VA., which was significantly better than any other frequency sounds excellent

2) i use little velcro squares ($3 @ Home Depot) to attach my Nano to my dash next to my A/C controls, about a foot above cig. lighter...keeps cord out of way, and easy to work Nano dial with Nano pressed against the dash, and velcro barely noticeable when take Nano out of truck...put velcro also on back of transmitter part that plugs into Nano, and attach that to the velcro on the dash when Nano out of truck keeps transmitter from flopping down to console

Works great with the iphone 3g and 3rd generation ipod. Sound is excellent throught the radio. It charges and plays at the same time.

Want FM Transmitter & Car Charger with LCD Screen - for Apple iPod / Iphone / Itouch / Nano - High Qualit Discount?

My existing FM Transmitter from Monster works great with my iPod, and it charges and produces very clear sound. However, it would not work with the iPhone so I went to look for a new item.

I was expecting the same results from this product. It charges as expected, which is what we really needed for our car. However, the sound is pretty disappointing on the radio. I am not an audiophile, but it sounded "tinny", lacked any bass, and wasn't really worth listening to. We tried multiple channels, looking for a better FM frequency, but nothing really seems to work. My other FM Transmitter works fine with my other devices, so it might be the amount of power that this device transmits with.

I don't think we'll search for a different one, because this was a pretty inexpensive charger for the car. In a pinch, we can listen to iPhone tunes, but we'll stick with our iPod/Monster solution.

RCA H116 6 GB MP3 Hard Drive

RCA H116 6 GB MP3 Hard DriveThis Mp3 Player Is Awesome. the controls are very simple and quick to use, they are better than any other mp3 player I ever tried. The fm Tuner is a little weak and you have to turn the mp3 player volume up all the way, as well at the radio volume up pretty loud to hear it. It is not cluttered with extra features. You can also put files on it like a jump drive. It does have some glitches: Sometimes it locks up, and none of the buttons respond, However If you hold the power button for about 30 seconds, It will reset without deleting your files or music. Also, once in a long time it will display the song you chose and play somthing different. The warrenty is too short. I cracked the plastic over the screen and they wanted me to pay $99 to fix a simple piece of plastic, I Used Clear nail polish instead. It may not be the best out there, but I like it because it looks great and is the most basic of mp3 players. I give it 4 stars out of 5 stars because other than the bad customer service and the glitches, Which may be fixed in future updates, It is a Nice and Simple to use mp3 player. But for $150 you might want to see what else is out there first.

When it works its a nice player. I use it for audio books but i have had to replace it twice in a year because the hard drive has gone out. It some times gets buggy and you have to reformat. I would not buy another one.

Duracell DRPP300 Powerpack 300 Jump Starter and Emergency Power Source

Duracell DRPP300 Powerpack 300 Jump Starter and Emergency Power Source
  • 2 AC and 1 DC outlets
  • 250 PSI air compressor
  • Detachable, rechargeable LED flashlight
  • Includes jumper cables
  • Overload and over-temperature protection

The following review is similar to another review I posted regarding the Duracell Powerpack 450. I have edited some portions that are relevant to this 300 model.

I have had similar powerpacks in the past that were made by Xantrex before Duracell bought them out. I have a Xantrex 400 unit purchased in 2006 that is at 50-65% capacity, but that was my fault as I kept it in a climate controlled environment but did not perform the 3 month charging intervals, hence battery degradation.

I bought this one to replace an old Xantrex 300 unit that I found died on me as I was preparing for hurricane Sandy. I primarily buy these for back up power for light and powering electronic devices like cell/smartphones. I have used it to jump start a car (mostly 4 cylinders) and the air compressor comes in handy to top off the PSI on car tires, and at one time to inflate a half flat tire with a slow leak. I was able to inflate it enough to get it to a tire repair shop safely. Expect long run times when using CFL light bulbs, shorter run times with incandescent. Having done my own bench tests for run times on CFL and incandescent light bulbs, here are the results: 60 watt CFL bulb ran for almost 8 hours. 100 watt CFL bulb ran for almost 5 hours. 40 watt incandescent bulb ran for 2 hours, 15 minutes. As you can see, it runs more efficiently with the use of CFL bulbs over incandescent. If you experience frequent power outages for long periods of times, you may want to invest in some CFL bulbs to switch in your lamps for longer run times. The Powerpack 450 will give you an hour or more of longer run times, but to be honest, the weight and size of that unit doesn't make it worth it for the few extra dollars.

This model is much lighter and more portable than it's Powerpack 450 brother which is much heavier. The overall width, however, is wider than one would expect on the 300. The pictures provided are somewhat deceiving.

Regular maintenance is KEY, I stress KEY to longevity. These are not really workhorses. In my opinion they are for light duty occasional usage. If you follow the recharging intervals as indicated, you will get years of use out of them.

Now, if you are to visit the Duracell website, they list too many restrictions as far as performance for jumping a car battery. The units are sensitive to extreme heat or cold temperatures which affect its performance. After reading this, I would not keep mine in the trunk of my car full time UNLESS I am going on a road trip and want the added security of having it with me "just in case." If you are looking for a dedicated battery jump starter to keep full time in your trunk, I'd look elsewhere for one that is able to withstand extreme heat or cold while not affecting performance. This one simply will not cut it for you. I recommend the Jump-N-Carry JNC300XL 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light but there are others out there for you to choose from.

I'm very pleased with my unit!

...but the timespan in which it remains operational is far too short.

I have had mine for less than a year before it developed problems in charging the battery.

I now discover that there is no support for replacing the battery in the unit; Duracell makes it far too difficult to remove and replace the battery to make it worth the hassle.

The one component in here that is likeliest to break is the battery, and rather than making it easy to service as an end user, they tell people to throw the entire unit out and buy another one.

Wasteful and ridiculous.

Want Duracell DRPP300 Powerpack 300 Jump Starter and Emergency Power Source Discount?

I bought this item for my mom, for emergency situation. It came with a cigarette male to male end, a DC unit, everything else is attached to the battery unit. It only have 300 amp power but very light, liftable during emergency like jump start your car engine.

The unit included a rechargeable flash light that lasted very long, a tire inflator that actually inflated your tire, pretty well.

Unfortunately, I lost all the accessories that make this unit useless as I can't recharge it no longer. It is a sealed AGM battery and hence safer than your lead acid battery. Can be use ideally for car accessories that could drain your car aux. battery.

Save 27% Off

I've owned ten of these devices, starting back when they were marketed and sold using the Xantrex brand name. It works fine, but because it contains a lead acid battery, you must charge it once a month. After 2-3 years, however, the battery will die. The manufacturer offers no instructions on how to replace the battery, and so you either need to figure out how to replace it on your own (not easy) or dispose of this and buy a new one.

I've now decided that it is simply better to buy separate components.

The Jump-N-Carry JNC300XL 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light is a jump starter that also contains a lead acid battery. But, unlike with Duracell, this product's battery is user replaceable.

The Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator will connect to your car's cigarette lighter (or the Jump-N-Carry cigarette lighter output) and inflate your tires. You can even set your desired pressure and it will stop when it reaches that pressure.

And there are a plethora of inverters available that will plug into either to give you 120 Volts.

The nice thing about buying separate components is that they are each lighter and less bulky than this product as well.

Don't get me wrongit is nice to have everything in a single package. And if Duracell allowed the user to replace batteries, I would have given this a very high rating. But, making a product like this disposable is unnecessary and wasteful.

Bluetooth Handsfree In-car Visor Kit for All Sony Ericsson Phones

Bluetooth Handsfree In-car Visor Kit for All Sony Ericsson PhonesI purchased this speakerphone in 2009 & used it twice. The people I spoke to on the phone said it sounded like I was in a fish bowl. I chalked it up to the fact that I didn't spend $80.00 or so & it was just a cheap model. Buyer beware. That would have been my review in 2009. I stopped using the speakerphone until I now need it because the state laws changed. I was reading the reviews on many speakerphones because I wanted to get a good one without spending a lot of money. Who'd of thunk it! Some of the reviews talked about the same fishbowl sound & others said that it was because the volume was set too high. I pulled this unit out of my desk drawer & tried it again. It works great. I started with the lowest volume setting & a friend on the other line to test. I put the volume to the highest level just before the fishbowl sound began. I now have an inexpensive unit that really works. On a side note, I charged the unit once in 2009. I am now using it on a workday basis (I'm a contractor & am on the phone a lot during the day.) After one month, I am still on the same charge. The four stars is because the unit turns off when not in use (ultimately to save battery life). The unit is audible when it turns off so I just turn it back on, but there are times when this is a pain in the neck because I turn it back on frequently.

  • Angled mini USB charging connector. Waterproof & fused designed for motorcycles. Red & Black ringed battery connectors. On/Off switch

  • What's included 1 x angled mini usb power connector & 1 x direct to battery charger lead.

You can actually tell that the person who designed and made this product rides a motorcycle. Build quality is great and the set includes all necessary components. Installation is fast and easy. Just connect the red and black ends to you battery terminal and you are done.

Well, you still need to run/hide the cable to make it look nice and neat but that's something the manufacturer can't help you with. They, however gave you enough cable so you won't have problems even on a large bike.

What you get in the package are: main cable that connects to the battery and has weather sealed connector that accepts the other cable that actually terminates with a mini usb plug. Included voltage reducer (from 12v to 5.2v) has on/off switch and a green light indicating when the system is on, so you won't accidentally drain you battery. There is also a safety fuse. They also included wire wraps and Velcro tape for cable management. It took me about 30 minutes to finish the work. Most of time was used by planing the run of the cable. Charger worked immediately after installing and my Nuvi 260w gps worked perfectly fine. I took my bike on the road the very same day and went where I have never been before. I couldn't have asked for more. This is so much better than 3 feet of basic wire offered by others.
