I think most bikers, especially Harley riders, eventually come to realize that after-market parts are, generally, not the bane they are made out to be. Furthermore, most informed bikers, and a few Harley riders, learn that dealer threats of voided warranties by use of after-market parts are trumped by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. In a word, service it, repair it, or replace it with whatever you choose, keeping receipts and a record of what was done and when.

For me, there are two reasons to use after-market parts: greater variety and reduced cost. It is for the latter reason that I purchased the Deka Big Crank for my FXDL (as a replacement for the Harley 65989-90B); as long as the battery/tray dimensions are within range, this battery will suit multiple applications (it comes standard with a tray adapter, if needed).

I've only had this battery for seven months so I am unable to fully comment on its value. To date, however, the battery has performed flawlessly in hot and cold weather, although the term cold, as used in southern NM, is relative. When not riding I always maintain my batteries on a tender which reduces sulfation rates, while keeping the battery fully charged.

Because the Deka Big Crank is an AGM battery, there are no restrictions on shipping and no maintenance procedures to follow. As I mentioned, it is too soon for me to fully evaluate this battery but, to date, I am a happy rider.

I've used this battery in our Waverunners for years and they are great. Used the FV500R on a 1000 mile journey through Wyoming and mostly around Yellowstone between 2 cars travelling together.

While on 1/2 watt power, radio had great reception between the 2 travelling cars. Worked fine when there were 2-3 bends in the road with trees blocking the other radio. Only stopped working when there were 4-5 large bends blocking transmission (didnt try increasing to 1 watt power for that temporary time).

Easy to use, recharged batteries lasted about 12+hrs on one charge.

Radio only had problems in a town when there were 3 right-angle bends with buildings blocking radios. Reception was then intermittent.

Highly recommended.

I have been a firm believer in Motorola radios and cellphones. These radios work great! They have batteries with no memory and charger, which is the way to go. The range is good with some interference, which you would have with any of these radios. I have found uses for these radios that I would have never thought of.

I bought these for a trip to whistler. My buddy alrady had a couple of older motorola units that were compatible with the fv500's. Overall, battery performance was acceptable and lasted more than a full day of use at top volume. Range was pretty impressive, but no where near advertised specs when there were buildings or mountainous terrain as obstacles. Works as expected and a great value for about $20-$30.

We bought for spousal communication when husband is working elsewhere on the property. Works great for that purpose and charges faster than advertised. My husband came in for the day not realizing until the following day that he had lost the radio. Searched for days with no luck. Three weeks later (and many rains later) he almost twisted his ankle on it in the woods. The display was full of moisture and the faceplate muddy. Rinsed it off and put the hairdryer to it, back onto the charger and next day it was seemingly as good as new.

We were originally disappointed in the range but have since used a 17 mile range Cobra which has less actual range than the Motorola. The only way to get the advertised range on any of these is if both users were on (not in) forest towers with line of sight.

This is my second Odyssey Battery and the first one is still working fine. I use these in a pair of Yamaha WaveRunners. One of the best features on this battery is its ability to hold a charge. Come winter, I just disconnect the battery and leave it in the WaveRunner and it is ready to go in the spring; the cold does not bother it at all.

heheh, I'm going to be the outlier here believe it or not I use this in my car! :) I think this really shows the power and versatility of this battery. I modified the back of my car to open up to allow for easier working on the engine, but this required me to tilt the trunk 90 degrees the original battery was a normal battery, so this would translate to spilling it's contents all over everything, which is generally what you don't want to do. So I searched around and looked for what my options were in terms of a sealed battery that could still put out enough amps to turn over my car more than a few times and not leave me stranded in some parking lot. A couple other Lotus owners also identified this battery (which they used for weight reasons), and I switch to it about two years ago without a single issues.

Now I don't recommend this for everyone (or really anyone), because there are quite a few caveats such as I had to put a battery quick-disconnect on it because the parasitic load from the alarm would drain it dead in about a week. But I think the fact that I can use the battery and have it perform so well in an environment it most likely was not intended to be in speaks volumes of its quality.

First, it should be obvious that this is a bare tool. The batteries/charger cost more than the unit. Therefore, it is good if you have other V28 tools.

Next, somewhere someone commented that this is as powerful as a corded vac. It is not. A normal shop vac is around 1000W to 1500W, and it is unrealistic to expect this little portable guy with a 1-1/4" hose to have the same power. It just isn't as powerful.

But, it has a very usable power for my intended purpose, which is to say, it has enough power to clean up a small "mess" without having to lug out a real vac. I find I'm also using it for a surprising amount of small around the house/in the car cleaning/dusting since it is so conveniently portable. The cordless portability is the reason to buy.

A major compromise between power and battery life is that the battery (a big V28 mind you) only lasts maybe 5 minutes. This is enough for a small project clean-up, but don't expect it to clean up your shop. On the plus side, it uses 1-1/4" accessories which concentrate the available suction well and which are also the standard size for home vacuum cleaners. This item does not come with a dust brush attachment which I considered a necessity, but luckily I just bought one for a regular home vac.

The hose is VERY flexible which is nice. It accordians down to a small U-shaped unit which fits into a holder on the side when not in use. If I get a chance, I'll post a pic since this was one of my questions when purchasing it. It is fairly easy to carry in one hand and vacuum with the other.

I cannot quite give it 5 stars because I think it is still a bit overpriced, and some parts like the hinges, etc., seem a bit on the cheap side and clunky to use. I cannot comment on long-term durability yet. Hope this review helps you.

I was excited to make this purchase and am glad I did. This is so handy and I find myself reaching for it all the time because it is so quick. One of the best things I found out about this unit, is that you can put the hose into two ports, one for suction and another for blowing. I use the blowing feature for cleaning out computers and filters. Works great. Absolutely love it.

This quality, powerful, suitcase-style vacuum was designed with the craftsman and home workshop in mind. This thing is quite the sucker! Some of the reviews put me off a little but based on my experience with Milwaukee I ordered it. I got tired of dragging out the shop vac when I needed to vaccuum up a bit after a home repair and my wifes little Black and Decker DustBuster sucks (figurativley not literally unfortunately. Our first Dust Bister was great but all subsequent ones have gotten worse and worse).

With 28 volts on tap this does a great job. It is not too noisy and the switch is easy to reach. Some complained about the latches on the top compartment (which houses the battery and two attachments) and the waste catch compartment but they seem fine to me. As of now I don't know how long it will run on a charge but I haven't felt that it wasn't long enough. The compartment that catches waste was listed as two gallons and I believe it. I like the fact that it can do wet and dry without changing the element. If I have one concern it may be that the filter element is too good (being Heppa rated). I used it to vaccuum up around my 12" Bosch miter sawafter I'd been sawing a lot of hardwood. The 90 tooth blade on the Bosch makes very fine sawdust and after picking it up I noticed that the vacs performance was down a bit. I removed the filter, shook it out and then blew it out and it was fine.

I must say that this tool may only make sense if you already own some 28 volt Milwaukee tools and already have batteries and a charger. If you don't to get this vac would require a 40-50 dollar charger and one or two batteries at about 150-160 each. I haven't checked what else is available for that price; there may not be anything any better or cheaper.

But if you have the batteries and charger I highly recommend this tool. Though I do wish it came with a wand extention.

This review is in response to some comments regarding wire and fuse size selections for this inverter and others like it.

In response to other review quoting a table from the National Electric Code (NEC). While the table that was posted is correct for 115VAC (household voltage) is does not translate directly to 12VDC (automotive voltage). When dealing with a 12 volt system there is less concern with wires overheating, at least in the way that the NEC considers it, and far more concern with voltage drop. When running wiring a reasonable distance (a couple hundred feet or so) there is little concern with voltage drop with AC power. But when dealing with DC, simply increasing your wiring distance 5-10' can have a drastic effect on voltage drop. That is why this inverter should be wired with, at the very least, #4 wire and really should be installed with #2 or thicker, especially if you need to run wire 15 or 20 feet or more.

The purpose of a fuse in a DC system is to protect the rest of your electrical system in the event of a short. That is why you always want to install your fuse as close to the battery as possible (no more then 3' if you can help it). As far as the amperage goes, there is a really good quick reference chart for automotive wire size that can be found at Tessco's web site here:[Turns out I can't link to an outside page so I'll paste the contents of the table at the bottom]. But to boil it down, you can safely fuse a 12VDC circuit at 150, or 200 amps, or more on #4, #2 or #0 wire.

Now this unit at full load is something like 85% efficient. So if you do the math -1500 Watts / 12 Volts / .85 efficiency = ~147 amps, A 150 AMP FUSE IS REQUIRED. If you take peak power into account you would need to double that to a 300 amp fuse, but because the inverter cannot run at peak power for more then a moment, a slow-blow 150amp fuse may work just fine, or perhaps you could step up a 200amp. I wouldn't go all the way to a 300 amp fuse unless you really found that you needed it and had the inverted is wired in such a way that it could handle that level current (read: installed using very heavy gauge wire). Now if your vehicle is running while your inverter is working the amperage will be a little lower because your dealing with 14.4 VDC rather then 12 volts (watts = volts x amps -oramps = watts / volts). But at the very least, a 150 amp ANL fuse is very good idea and not at all over sized.

Just a FYI on fuses, most car stereos are installed with AGU style fuses, but they only go up to 100 amps.

You will need an ANL style fuse to get one rated at 150 amps or more. See these links for examples:

It was a while before I used this product. I generally keep the MP3 charged. HOWEVER...I have an off he grid camp where everything is rechargable so there are lots of "AA" rechargable batteries with adapters to "C" and "D". BUT there wasn't anything I could do to vastly extend the play time on the MP3. Well there is now! Just as the music stopped I thought, "Well, back to the CDs and cassettes". (I plug the MP3 into a boombox that I've wired several car speakers into). Then I remembered that I had bought this charger just for this application. I received this item on time when promised. The installation couldn't have been easier. Red cable from Positive battery terminal to isolator then Red Cable from Isolator to second battery positive terminal. Ground isolator with black cable to vehicle body or frame. Disappointed.

I used this kit to install a dual battery setup on my boat along with a Blue Sea 7650 switch. I ended up using the Blue Sea voltage sensing relay as this one feels cheap and did not make me have confidence in its ability to do the job over the long run. The kit needs to come with at least double the amount of tinned copper lugs (the cable ends that connect to the terminals) because there is simply not enough in this kit. I had to go to my local autoparts store and buy more to complete my install. The same was true with the shrink wrap....simply not enough to do a complete install. I guess they don't expect you to install a switch along with it...but how do they expect you to control the power if you don't install a switch along with it.

In the end I would have saved money if I would have just bought the tinned copper lugs and wire separate.

I live on a river and built a campsite on an island across from my house (the dog loves it). I bought a deep-cycle marine battery but am getting too old to lug it in and out of the canoe for charging. So I got this little panel and, so far, have not run out of juice. And it's cheap enough so if someone steals it it's no big tragedy. I run a laptop, TV, fluorescent light and charge my cell phone. I even have a 12v car-vac to clean the sand out of the tent.

Of course, I'm not there 95% of the time so 5 watts is probably adequate. And I don't have to worry about overcharging. I screwed it to a big log in pretty open sun. So far, it has survived, even some small hail.

BTW, I use the power cord from an old vacuum cleaner and a 4-way 12v splitter to distribute power from the battery.

In 2006 I took a 3 week vacation out of the country. I left my car at the airport and away I went. Upon my return, I had to have the battery boosted for 15 minutes before it would turn my car's engine on. I have no idea what caused the drain (Sattelite Radio memory, car's other computers, etc), but I had to do something to prevent a $50.00 boost call in the future. A coworker told me about these devices and how his brother uses them to keep his mobile home powered when parked. Higher wattage products are sold, but if all you're doing is keeping a car battery charged, 5 watts is plenty of power for the job. No other devices (charger controllers) are needed. The charger comes with a couple of ways to hook up to the battery (direct battery terminal clips, cigarette lighter plug). I used the cigarette plug. Just plug it in to the power port, and lay the solar energy collector side face up on your dashboard. For those with heavily tinted windshields, I have no idea if the tint would cause a problem with the panel's energy collection.

This year, after returning from another 3 week trip (and using the solar charger), my battery started better than it did before my trip to the airport!

I recently ordered one of these panels (June 2007). The first one arrived shattered the manufacturer packaging does not protect the panel much and it was inadequately packaged in the shipping box by Amazon. The replacement unit was also badly packaged for shipment.

I tested the electrical output in full sunlight and got 20V out into a 100 ohm load -> 4 watts which is pretty good.

One thing to consider though is that this product is not very rugged. The solar panel has a plastic frame but the middle is unprotected on the back (and front). So unless you handle it very carefully it is likely to break.

Someone using this on a car dashboard would need some sort of protective carrier (like those insulated pizza boxes) to protect the unit when it was not being used.

Panel stopped producing electricity in November. Had to send it in to Sunforce at my expense for warrantee replacement. They promptly tested it and sent me a replacement. One thing I did notice is that the plastic housing on the unit that I returned had developed some small cracks. I am using the unit on my car dashboard to keep my battery charged.

-----------Update Jan 2013 ----------------

The frame around the panel has warped and cracked. As a result the panel no longer reliably charges my battery. This product isn't really engineered for reliable operation on car dashboards the plastic / frame cannot deal with the extreme temperature changes over time.

I have a 98 Camry that is rarely used, and often when I tried to use it, the battery had been drained (not sure by what) to the point that the starter would only make clicking sounds. Since I have hooked up the Sunforce 5watt trickle charger the car starts up every time! Very cool product.

My only complaints would be that it is a bit large, but still rests on the dash when the car is parked, and I had to connect direclty to the battery (with provided clips) since the cigarette lighter is turned off when the ignition is off but I just ran the wire around the door frame and under the hood.

I bought one of these to use as a portable impact wrench for use away from home at junkyards and such, and I have to say that I am amazed at how much torque it has for a battery powered tool.

First thing I did when I charged the battery was to go out and test it on my cars lug nuts which had been put on by a tire shop last year with an air powered impact wrench, and it had no trouble at all taking them off in seconds. (I tried loosening one of the lug nuts with the lug wrench first, and had to stand on it to get it to budge, and I weigh 210 lbs so I am not a feather weight)

It does have some weight to it, but it come with a nice carrying bag for it, and the amount of time and effort it will save me pulling parts off in junk yards and for just changing tires or other quick jobs makes this more than worth its cost.

This is a definite must have tool for anyone who works on cars, tractors or anything that you need both power and portability.

Purchased this with my gift card for NewYear, got the extra battery, I have complete set of Snow tires and wheels, and doing this old way took nearly 1 hour, with this Neiko product done in under 10 mins all 4. Amazing and still left for more, I know Nascar does it 10 secs or less but hey just 1 of me !. My friend like it so much I gave him mine, and bought a second one for me from E-tools in Los Angeles, real nice people.

Well i was suprised how easy it takes lug nut,s of a 2003 ford e-350 van. Being a generic brand i know that it,s not as powerful as Snap-On or a Milwaukee. And it not as powerful as the ad claims. But for the price i think it,s a pretty good deal. And so far it,s holding up pretty darn well. I use it every day at my home auto repair service. Axe nuts on front wheel drive are no problem with a fully charged battery . And the battery,well the more you use it and charge it the stronger it becomes. Pretty good impact gun,kinda large and heavy , but dependable. I would buy another one. It sell for less on Amazon than Ebay.

Jawbone PRIME JBT02 Bluetooth Headset - Retail Packaging - Red

There's not much to say. It's a bluetooth headset. It does what it should. But if you're looking for a scarlet/red product as described, don't purchase it -it's actually magenta/hot pink. Major disappointment, as this was the reason I purchased it.

Back around 2004 I was given a Jabra bluetooth headset as part of a conference goodies bag. In late 2009 I bought my wife and me Jawbone Prime headsets. They're terrible! I went back to the older Jabra I received free--it has much better audio quality, both in and out, than the Jawbone. Jawbones claim to cancel noise better than other headsets; don't believe it. The Jawbone is marketing hype and status without substance.

I have this for 2 days now. I read the other reviews, yes the device is more dark pink then red but the sound is great. My husband can't tell I'm talking on a bluetooth device. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is I haven't found a good fit with the ear device yet.

Works great with my phone!! I love the color it says red but its really pink. For some reason it stopped connecting to my phone, but when it was working it was clear and I would drive and still be able to have good conversations.
