because of the low price I was afraid that this might not work. I was wrong. It works great. While I got it primarily to charge my iPod while driving across country, using the cigar adapter, I've also used the A/C adapter for a regular charge when I traveled without a computer. I highly suggest that you get one of these, great for when you're away from your computer.

Schumacher XP2260 Instant Portable Power Source

Schumacher XP2260 Instant Portable Power Source
  • On/Off switch activates the jump starting mode
  • Built-in charger for automatic charging of internal battery
  • Battery status LEDs indicate when battery is charged or needs to be charged
  • Sure-Grip clamps fit both top and side-mount batteries
  • A maintenance-free, sealed lead acid battery allow for storage in any position

I own 3 of these units and use them in the most difficult of situations. We own an RV and go camping regularly. Many of the campgrounds do not offer electricity and we must turn our generator off at 9 pm. We use 1 unit to power our 2 computers after quiet hours and it works great. We also have needed to jump start our camper when we accidentally left the cab light on and after a 3 minute charge it kick right over. We have also used the unit to give a booster charge to the RV house batteries to get the generator going.

Additionally the unit has literally been a life saver. My husband must sleep with a positive airway machine that needs to be plugged in to AC while he sleeps. We have 1 unit that we have dedicated to that purpose and it provides sufficient power to run his machine all night without a problem! As long as you keep the AC requirements under the manufactures specs (400 watt surge, 200 watt continuous) you will have no problems. If you try to run a toaster or a coffee maker though, these things run 700+ watts, and the unit automatically shuts down.

For the down side, yes the unit is heavy. It is in essence a car battery with an handle, plus a power inverter, with an air compressor and work light thrown in for good measure. But we knew it was heavy when we bought them so that doesn't bother us, and the upside far outweighs the weight issue.

All in all, it is an excellent unit that does all that it was advertised to do.

I initially bought this unit for my husband to use at his tractor pulling events. He takes it to every event he goes to and it hasn't let him down yet. He also uses it to start a very finicky riding lawnmower that, even when a regular battery charger is left on it for a day (or more), won't start. Yes, it pulls a majority of the charge off this thing, but it does indeed start this lawnmower that is on it's last leg.

I was surprised that even though I bought this for my husband, the longer we have it around, we keep finding handy uses for it that we hadn't even thought of upon purchase. The AC outlets are really nice, especially when we go camping. We have a fifth wheel trailer and before when the kids needed to charge their ipods or PSP's they would have to start the generator and leave it on to charge their stuff. Now, we can just use this unit and save the generator gas and noise. Also, on long trips if I ride in the trailer, it sometimes gets hot and stuffy and gets boring really quickly. It's nice to have this unit on board so I can use my laptop or portable DVD player to my hearts' content and also have a small fan to keep cool. This unit also has a really bright worklight built right in that I use for reading, which is a nice feature. It's also been really nice to be able to inflate water toys and bike tires while camping.

The inflator for bike tires and such is tucked in the back of the unit with an attached little felt bag that holds the needles for the hub. I just wish that the unit itself had a similar bag to hold the bigger inflator hose and charger cords since it does include an AC charger and a car charger so you can charge your unit from your vehicle while you are traveling. It would also be nice if the USB port had some kind of rubber cover like the AC ports do to prevent dirt and water from getting into the port. Instead, I just used some tape to cover the port to prevent this.

I make sure to keep this unit charged so that in a power outage I will still be able to use my laptop and charge my cellphones. This unit keeps a charge very nicely. I just plugged it in after is had been sitting in the garage unused for 3 months and it still has a 99% charge and quickly charged to 100% in less than 5 minutes. I would highly suggest that you charge this unit fully before storing it away so it will be ready for you when you need it. If you use the unit in a heavy duty capacity (like jumping batteries) or for extended periods of time with smaller charges (like computer, cell phone, or fan) then you do need to make sure you recharge the unit without overcharging. Once the unit gets to 100%, unplug it. Our unit charges very slowly especially when the remaining charge left is low (50% or less), but the cord for charging is much like a cell phone charger. I don't mind the slow charge time when the battery is getting high use. It will charge fairly quickly up to 99%, but then stay at 99% sometimes for hours until it finally hits 100%.

Do your homework on price. I bought mine at a 'big box store' for $100.

Pros:

*jump starts tractors/lawnmowers very well

*has USB outlet

*has AC outlets

*bright worklight built in

*digital display indicating the amount of charge

*inflator capability

*can charge unit either by plugging in at home or car.

Cons:

*no rubber cover for USB port

*can be slow to charge (so keep it charged)

*no storage compartment on unit for charging cords

Keep in mind that this unit is a portable battery source, NOT a generator. It does a great job with what it is intended to do. However, (as another reviewer posted) it will not run a coffee maker. Check the specs of whatever you think you will want to use it for and compare it with what this unit will do so that you are not disappointed. I absolutely love this unit and so does my husband. I'm sure there are uses for this unit that we haven't even discovered yet. We will be buying these for gifts, especially for those who love to camp and also for that 'hard to buy for' guy. It's nice to know that if you don't have a generator in a power outage you'll still have the ability to use/charge your radio, computer, or cell phone. That alone is worth the $100 purchase!

I want to start out by saying that I really love this unit for its jump starting and power source features. The jump starter works exactly as advertised. The 12 volt power source is massive, and lasts forever; I drive a vintage car with a non-operational 12v lighter outlet, and so this thing can sit in there for weeks on end and supply my phone, iPod, or whatever with hardly any drain. I actually bought this because I was going on a four night camping trip to a place without power, and I use a cpap machine when I sleep. If I had bought the dc adapter for my cpap machine, I'm sure that it would have lasted the entire trip. As it was, running on grossly inefficient AC power, it still got me through a couple nights before I had to take it to a place with power to charge up.

That brings me to the one and only pitfall of this power source, and it's a big one. The charger that comes with this unit is absolutely pitiful. I was literally speechless when I pulled what looked like a cell phone charger out of the box. At the moment I saw it, I said aloud to no one in particular "I'm supposed to charge this thing up with THAT?" Looking at the power supply, I saw that it was rated with a 700mA power output. For reference, I have a AA battery charger that charges at 700mA, and the charger for my DSLR batteries is rated at an output of 720mA. Both of those chargers take HOURS to charge relatively small batteries. So I think to myself, how long will it take to charge the 20 pound monster battery at the heart of this machine?

As it turns out, it takes a VERY long time. According to the manual that comes with this power source, it can take 72 hours (three days!!) to fully charge the power supply. I imagine that were I an executive at Schumacher and some young engineer brought this to me, I'd throw it across the desk at him and tell him to give me something that charges in significantly less than half a week. Indeed, after I ran the batter dead on the second night of my camping trip, it spent the entire day plugged into power at the camp office, and after all that, didn't quite have enough power to get through night three. Night four was worse still, and after about 4 hours I was awake and the power source was dead.

Having said all that, I am still very happy with the power source itself, and I decided to keep it. In the future, I will use a dc cable for my cpap machine if I go camping, and I imagine it should work for a far longer duration. As I said, it goes and goes forever powering small 12v applications, and is heavy enough that when I take a tight corner at speed it doesn't flop around. For everything that it does, it does it very well, and I would recommend it for those features. If charge time isn't a big factor in your purchase, I would think you would be very happy owning it. But if you need something that can go from depleted to fully charged in less than a day or two, this might not be the best fit for you.

I love these things!!!

Would gladly pay twice as much.

I jump started my Chevy Avalanche three times in one day without re-charging.

Used it to run a 36" TV & DVD player & charged two smartphones during a power outage.

Power came back on before juice ran out but I estimate it would have lasted two full movies.

When something is connected, press a button and it tells you how many watts are being drawn.

When not in use, the same button tells you the current % charge.

To prolong it's life, always fully re-charge after every use (no matter how brief) or every month.

I purchased two of these from Wal-Mart.Since we've been experiencing particularly odd weather, they've been quite handy in the blackouts. The only time they weren't, had to do with the fact I did not charge them. The weight of them had everything to do with that.I've had a few abdominal surgeries therefore the risk of lugging the VERY heavy battery did not appeal to me.

However, after a year and a few occasions, I must say they have helped tremendously with phone charging, single lamp lighting and charging laptop at the same time.

Not being an expert on portable power, I will assume all batteries drain at a quicker than slow rate, therefore the advice on making sure you check on it at least once weekly to redo charge.

Finally, they have been used two times each to jumpstart vehicles;worked well.

Pro: multiple outlets for varied small appliances, usb outlet, BUILT IN BRIGHT LIGHT, smartly designed body to avoid tipping, excellent price

Happijac 182905 Direct-To-Frame Mount Tie-Down System
  • Carriers Front Mnt Tiedown Kit-Ft- 182905 Lippert Components-Happijac

Be aware that this camper tiedown IS NOT frame mounted as stated in the description. It is merely bolted into the truck bed cross member which is made of sheet metal. It will not be nearly as strong as if it was bolted directly into the vehicles frame. Although this unit will probably suffice for my camper, I should not have paid the extra money for a "frame mounted" tie down when it is clearly not.

Buy Happijac 182905 Direct-To-Frame Mount Tie-Down System Now

I don't know what the other reviewer was doing when he mounted his but mine mounted thru the cross member to the frame mount where the bed attaches to the frame rail. If one felt compelled one could try and run a drill bit straight thru the frame box but it'd be tough to get a nut in there...the location mine was a on a Dodge Ram 2500 was perfect and easy and WAS frame mounted.

All in all I thought it is a well thought out product. Some of the bolts threaded rough but I am nit-picking. About to move it to a newer Ford F250. Hope it goes as easy as on the old Dodge...

Wagan EL2003-5 400 Watt Continuous Power Inverter with 5V 2.1 Amp USB Charging Ports

Wagan EL2003-5 400 Watt Continuous Power Inverter with 5V 2.1 Amp USB Charging Ports
  • Portable power inverter provides 400 Watts of continuous power and 1000 Watts of peak surge power
  • Power or charge a laptop, cell phone, MP3 player, digital camera, portable game player, power tools, and more
  • Two grounded AC outlets
  • Two 5-Volt, 2.1-Amp USB charging ports ideal for charging iPad & other tablets plus Amazon Kindle & other e-readers
  • Short circuit and overload protection, low input power shutdown

I got this inverter to replace one we had -a 175 watt one -that wasn't powerful enough for my wife's new laptop. This one has plenty of umph to do the job, it's just a bit on the loud side. While it's on, the fan is too, and when on the floor of the passenger seat, it was about 60 dB -about the volume of a normal conversation. You can definitely hear it over the road noise. There is a handy switch on the unit so you can leave it plugged in all the time and turn it off when not in use.

It comes with a cigarette lighter plug, as well as battery clamps. I believe you'll only be able to get the full 400 watts if you connect directly to the car battery, but we only need about 250 watts so the cigarette lighter plug works fine.

The USB ports have enough power to charge an iPad. My iPad showed "Charging" when plugged into the USB ports rather than the usual "Not Charging" when plugged into my old inverter that had USB ports

I'd recommend this but I'd want people to know that it's not whisper quiet like my old one.

Buy Wagan EL2003-5 400 Watt Continuous Power Inverter with 5V 2.1 Amp USB Charging Ports Now

First the quirks: The unit will shut off automatically if you are either not using any power or are using really low power. I purchased it to use in the car for various things but when using it to charge AA or my DSLR batteries it will only do so for a short period of time before turning itself off and requiring me to flip the switch. Highly annoying and I will be replacing it for this reason (or selling/trading to someone).

Things I like: The size and design are appealing and its mostly metal so shouldn't heat up as much as some others. Like a few people have said it isn't as loud as some people think, more than tolerable.

I will be contacting the manufacturer to find out if the low or no power use is a design feature or a flaw with my unit. Will update this with a comment with what I find out.

We travel a lot by car over very far distances so a power inverter is a must have for watching dvd's and charging phones etc. Our older inverter same wattage finally died on us and after research I was nervous about the reviews I read on that brands newer models so this one seemed like a good bet and I was right. I have to disagree with the other reviewers about the noise, compared to my old one (which was only 4 years old)this is whisper quiet, it does make noise but as I've said compared to the whistler that I had it is significantly quieter. I'm sure the USB's will come in handy as the old one did not have them and the on/off button does not stick up really high so it wont get switched off accidently by the plug which was a big problem with our other one. Also, it does include the car charger and the battery clamps unlike the majority of other ones I saw, most only had the battery clamps which is fine if you are camping but what about while you are driving to the campground? Great buy for the price!

I purchased this power inverter a few weeks ago to power a deskjet printer in my vehicle. I read the previous reviews about the fan being loud, but it is not bad. The fan runs continously but is not loud at all. This products works great for what I needed it for and it has two plug outlets and two USB outlets as well. The price was right too!

Save 28% Off

I read some other reviews on here where people complained that it wasn't powerful enough for their application when plugged into the cigarette lighter, and I just had to shake my head. Most cigarette lighter covers have a nice sticker on the inside that clearly states 120W max draw. Use the included battery clamps if you want to run something that draws more power, a 400W inverter can only work with what it's being supplied, so don't blame the product for not delivering 400W when you plug it into a 120W outlet.

Hooked directly to a battery, this little thing fired up my blender, which has an initial draw of almost 800W on startup, and did fine running it under load (ice and margaritas!). Like others have stated, the fan stays on and it's a little loud, but anything you're going to be running off of this is likely to make as much noise, except for a phone charger. All in all, it's great so far, and so much smaller than I expected.

6 Piece Value Combo Accessory Bundle Kit: Black Silicone Skin Case Cover + Car Charger + Travel Char

6 Piece Value Combo Accessory Bundle Kit: Black Silicone Skin Case Cover + Car Charger + Travel Charger + USB Data Sync Cable + Armband + Belt Clip for Sony Walkman A726/A728/A729 Series MP3 Player
  • Package comes with 6 essential pieces of accessories for your Sony Walkman
  • Include: One black silicone skin, One USB data cable, One travel wall charger
  • One automobile car charger, One adjustable armband, One belt clip

I bought this kit for the case and figured anything else that came with it would be cheap or barely usuable. Surprisingly, the whole kit is a real value. The case is a snug fit and provides needed protection for my NWZ-A728 Walkman. The two chargers (AC and car) are very handy since I don't have to boot up my laptop each time to charge the Walkman. The extra USB cable is great since I can now leave one at home and one at work. I use the armband for those times I'm using the Walkman on a treadmill.

The only item that is so-so in the bundle is the beltclip. For some reason, it's white everything else in the kit is black. So of course, the clip clashes with the black case. The only thing missing from this combo kit is a screen protector but you can't have everything. And since Sony tends to use proprietary ports, it's not like you'll find a lot of options for generic, compatible cables elsewhere. So all-in-all, I'm quite pleased with the purchase. Recommended.

The sole reason I bought this kit was for the battery charger...which happens to work just as I had hoped. The other items I really didn't need.

I couldn't beat the cost either...Sony charges 3 times for a charger alone, so the cost was well worth it.

Both the hard and soft cases are basically junk. Either they shipped the wrong ones ? or these are poorly designed. Only half the buttons are accessible with the soft case. The hard case does not secure the Walkman, it just slides around inside and the lower half of the control buttons are covered.

DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod (Black)

DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod
  • Color-coded, intelligent car charger designed for dock-connecting iPods

The charger works great. It charges quickly and when it's done it changes to green. The only problem with it is that if you play the unit while charging you get a buzz in the background. With the twenty hour battery life of the Nano It's not that big a deal. I just plug the Ipod in while I am away from the car, and unplug it for playback

I needed a car charger for my iPods. The choice seemed to be between cheap and untrustworthy, and overpriced. This DLO model was the best compromise I could find. With just enough features to justify the $15 price.

I have been using it for about a month now, including one 900 mile car trip, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. The LED feature is actually helpful, and I am glad I chose this charger.

Want DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod (Black) Discount?

I seem to have the opposite experience as the previous reviewer. This "charger" does not seem to charge my iPod Mini much at all. No matter how low the battery is, the indicator light on the charger almost always glows green when it is connected. I rarely ever see the amber color that indicates charging. The iPod will often lose power soon after removing it from this charger. This does not happen when I use the wall adapter to charge it.

But as for playing the iPod while it is plugged in the car, I have had no problems at all. The main reason I own this is to play the iPod in the car, and it works just fine for that.

DLO 002-0216 NanoTune FM Transmitter and Radio for iPod Nano

DLO 002-0216 NanoTune FM Transmitter and Radio for iPod Nano
  • All-in-one Nano accessory combines an FM Transmitter, an FM receiver, a headphone amplifier that boosts by over 25-percent, and a protective case
  • Flip-up, clear plastic cover and housing protects your iPod from scratches and light knocks, while the built-in 30-pin connector lets you use it with your existing charger
  • Wirelessly plays your Nano's music over any available FM radio in your car or home stereo, and will broadcast over any FM frequency from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz with a range of 10 feet
  • FM receiver allows you to listen to the radio over your nano, and automatically pauses your music to play your favorite radio stations without losing your place
  • Comes in a stylish black finish that complements your iPod Nano, and is backed by a manufacturer's 90-day warranty

This is the second FM transmitter I have bought for my car. First I owned the BELKIN, which I do not reccommend at all. It could not hold reception for anything. This one works great! I have a GMC Yukon with a stock radio. I was going to get a new radio, but if you are familiar with GM cars, you'll know that they need an additional $110.00 worth of wires, harnesses and dash kits to put in any aftermarket stereo. Add that to the "Brain" as they call it, you need to make your new stereo iPod compatible and it adds up quick. I just did not want to put $400-$600 into that right now.

The transmitter is great for fm reception too. I love love love that it has that clear little cover that keeps fingers and any surface at all off of my iPod. We all know how badly these things scratch!

My only nitpick's are that it really needs a armband or a pocketsnap. If I wanted to take it with me on a walk or to the gym (to use the fm radio part) I would have to stick it in my pocket or hold it.

Also, I would like it if the back was anti skid for when I set it down in my car. It really slides around, so I set it in the cupholder. Unless I have drinks, then I have to set it on the console where it it constanly skidding around and falling on the floor if I corner too fast. (Or if my husband is driving!)

Lastly, if you live in a area where it is hard to find a good clear station to use, try plugging your iPod earphones into it. This somehow helps clear up static if there is any.

I bought this from a local store and paid about $15.00 more plus tax. I should have bought it here.

Buy DLO 002-0216 NanoTune FM Transmitter and Radio for iPod Nano Now

I too have had problems with this, but was set to purchace another until I read the reviews here. I use it primarily for it's FM *reception* and not for broadcast abilities. There are LOTS of choices for *that*. I agree that it requires the earsets for broadcast transmission and of course you'd need them to receive FM (or you'd never know what you're not hearing!).

The unit worked flawlessly for over a year and then without incident it developed an issue with refusing to turn on. About one day in three or four it'll work. On the others it comes on then immediately shuts itself off. The other negative reviewers were not specific enough for me to determine if this was the same issue they were experiencing.

For now, I'll look for an alternative adapter for FM reception.

I bought one and when I first plugged it in was unimpressed. It was weak & full of static. Then I plugged in the headphones and was crystal clear. It needs them as an antennae. It also was unhappy when the ipod wasn't fully charged. It then died after a week so I returned it. Interesting idea but way too fragile. Now I need an new transmitter but they all seem to have problems.

The Nanotune is awesome and I loved that I could take it everywhere, but it died after the second week of having it. I have exchanged it once before since it died a week after, now it died again. I wish I can find the manual to get my money back. It won't last if you buy it. Get some thing that holds it in place. The velcro that came with it slipped right off and it kept falling all over my car when I slowly went over a speed bump. Do not buy!

Just stopped working... going to return... be careful with this one.

I've had absolutely no problems. The only complaint I have is that the cords on these chargers are shorter than I would like. The wall charger cord is 2 or 3 feet long which means it can't go far while it's plugged in. It is hardly long enough to put the player on my desk while it's plugged in. The car charger cord is a foot long, maybe less. It's coiled so that, theoretically, you could stretch it if you needed it to be longer, but in my experience trying to stretch it just pops it out of the lighter socket. So that's something to keep in mind when buying.

Apart from the fiddly nature of the charger it does all it says apart from the one main thing if you intend to have it connected to your car whilst driving the charger is not shielded thus a ridiculously loud hum can be heard through the sound system as it charges for the sake of a cheap shielding mechanism to prevent this problem could be easily solved buy at your own peril

Arrived promptly and in pristine condition. Works well with my Zen Vision: M. Came with two adapters--one for the car charger, one for the wall charger. The adapters are a bit of a tight squeeze to plug onto my ZVM, but there was no epic struggle. All in all, decent quality and performance.

This product works well and the transaction went flawles. It has an adapter you need to use on the Zen for car and AC chargers. It plucks in between the Zen and charger. It only comes with one so if you use your Zen in the home and in the car you will just have to carry the adapter back and forth between the 2 in order to charge it. An aditional adapter would be nice. Overall the product is works well and feels sturdy. I would recommend it.

Skiva PowerFlow QuadFire (4 Amps / 20Watt / Fastest Speed) Four Port USB Wall/Travel/AC Rapid Charge

Skiva PowerFlow QuadFire Four Port USB Wall/Travel/AC Rapid Charger for iPhone 5 4 4s 3, iPad 3 2 1, iPod, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Android Smartphones and Other USB DevicesWe have multiple ipads and iphones in our house and was I hoping to save on outlets. This device will allow me to charge my phone and ipad at the same time. But only the one iport has enough juice to charge the ipad. I have a dock system that will charge 4 iphones simultaneously and really want a similar mechanism to charge the ipads simultaneously, but I can not charge more than 1 ipad at 1 time with this device. This will come in handy when traveling but was not really what i was looking for.

Update: after reading the response from Skiva I came to the conclusion that the unit is supposed to charge multiple ipads at once. I played with the cords and noticed I had two different types of apple chargers one with rounded corners on the usb end and one with more square corners on the usb end. I changed the cords from the round charger to the square corners. Doing this allowed me to charge 2 ipads simultaneously. I put another cord in the third universal slot but was not able to charge a third ipad. But I really only needed to charge 2 simultaneously so I am happy to be able to do that. On a side note the rapid charger port charged my ipad in record time so that was great as well. oh and the response time from the company was tremendously fast. I received an email from them within hours of my original post. I did not contact customer support as I was able to correct my initial problem.

Just received the Quadfire 4-port charger and couldn't be happier!

Here is my problem before the Quadfire... I got my galaxy nexus, my ipad 3, my bluetooth headset, and my USB rechargable bicycle light that all needs to be charged on a regular basis. All the individual chargers used to take over my entire surge protector..

Now with Quadfire, all I need is one wall outlet, and 4 USB cables, and I'm all set!

1 Amp current on all the charging ports, it charges my iPad 3 from 0% to full overnight just fine. Every other device, the Quadfire charges in just couple hours!

Build quality is top notch, doesn't feel cheap at all. Really compact, so it's quite easy to take it with me when I'm traveling. It comes with 2 MicroUSB cable in the box.

Highly recommended. And for the price you simply can't find anything else that can beat it in terms of functionality and performance.

My wife and I travel with multiple devices we each have a smart phone, an iPod touch, and BlueTooth headsets LOTS of devices that need charging, and we like to minimize the clutter that goes along with this gadget lifestyle, especially when we travel. When I saw this this new Skiva PowerFlow QuadFire 4-device charger with a 4 amp rating, I HAD to give it a try. WOW! Thank you Skiva! Even when four devices are plugged in for a charge, they charge up significantly faster than my previous 2-amp four-port charger. Now I can pack one charger in the shaving kit for all of our devices no need to carry multiple chargers to get a speedy charge on all of my devices simultaneously. I like it so much I am considering getting another one for myself and perhaps a couple as gifts for family.

Pros:

-Charges up to four USB devices at one time

-Quick charging even with relatively power-hungry smart phones

-Folding plug for more compact packing

-Dedicated/Universal ports for both iOS and Samsung devices

-Very bright blue LED can be used as a nightlight

-Nice form factor relatively slim against the wall

-Excellent build quality

-Unpolarized plug: charger can be plugged in either pointing up or down, maximizing outlet flexibility

-Two micro-USB cables were included in the box BONUS!

Cons:

-Port labels could be a little larger (minor nit-pick)

-Very bright blue LED can be a little bright if pointing towards bed (another minor nit-pick)

Overall, I am VERY happy with this charger and would purchase it again.

OK, this is the best, most powerful, and importantly, MOST FLEXIBLE AC to USB adapter I've yet found, and I've used a couple dozen different models over the years. Bought two, one goes in my computer backpack for work/travel, the other replaced a much larger charging station in the kitchen.

My critical devices for charging at this moment are my Blackberry Torch2, my wife's and son's DROID 3's, our two Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and my portable battery, the excellent New Trent 5000 mAH dual port. This adapter works for all these, either individually or in any combination, including the super finicky Galaxy Tab (love you, Samsung, but not your proprietary connectors!).

However, because there are at least three manufacturer based USB charging schemes in play right now, not every port and cable combination works for every device, for example, the Galaxy Tab only works in the Samsung port (not surprisingly). Below are the results of different combinations of cables, ports and devices. As you can see, the included Micro USB cable did very well. I also use GoMadic's excellent but a bit obtuse cable system with interchangeable tips, especially for travel, to cut down on the number of cables I need to carry, and I've posted these results in the second table below, indicating which tip worked with each device/port combination.

Net, this is THE charger to get if you have to cover multiple devices simultaneously. Highly recommended.

Note that tables are tough to format in Amazon reviews, so I've tried to make these as clear as possible within Amazon's limitations.

We had finally reached a critical mass of "i-devices," and it was time to look at some sort of central charging solution, rather than have wall warts plugged in all over. After perusing the choices available (including some rather improbable and overpriced products), we purchased the Skiva Powerflow QuadFire.

This item does, rather simply and efficiently, exactly what it claims. It might have helped some folks if they had been more explicit that the QuadFire will only output a maximum of 4,000ma to the 4 ports combined. This is why at least one reviewer has discovered that it will only handle two iPads, since the iPad requires a 2A connection. But it will handle any complement of devices, so long as those devices don't exceed the capacity of the QuadFire. So an iPad, a couple of iPhones, and an IPod are doable.....and for $20.

As for complaints about the blue LEDjust tape it over, already.

It might also be noted that, like most such power supplies now, it works on 100/240VAC, 50/60 Hz (not mentioned on the Amazon page), which means it will travel internationally with only the simple plug adapter to change the prong shape.

1 Month followup: The Skiva Powerflow Quad Fire continues to perform flawlessly, used to charge all iDevices daily (iPad, 2 x iPhone 5, iTouch).

I've owned three of these chargers. The first one became part of the deal when I sold a motorcycle, the second one became part of the deal when I sold a boat. I bought this one for my daughter's motorcycle when she moves out, it will go with her and I'll buy another one. They are excellent for keeping a vehicle battery charged and ready to go, especially if you are not using it every day. Simple to use and seem to last forever. Well worth the money!

  • 400 Watt built-in inverter to operate 120 Volt (household current) appliances

  • The maintenance-free, sealed, lead-acid battery allows storage in any position
  • Includes automatic charger for internal battery and 12 Volt flex light

This Schumacher is great to have along in my outdoor excusions that take me into very remote areas. Feel so much more secure with all that extra jump starting power. I drive an X-Terra into the north Maine Woods area every winter; not a whole lot of human interaction

there so if feels good to have extra cranking power available. This model actually held up to several cold weather jumps on 4-wheel drives with juice left over to

power my computer, boom box, and utility light. Most folks probably would get buy with less cranking Amps but I feel so much more secure with extra juice.

Amazon had the best price that I have come across.

The options available on this model are great, the problem is that the batteries are faulty. I should have headed the warnings others gave in reviews but I figured I'd give it a shot. The problem is the internal battery would not take a charge, not even once. When it arrived I followed the directions and left it on the charger over 72 hours, after all that there was no charge at all so I put it back on for 4 days, after that the orange charge status light came on for about 5 seconds then it went red again. Log story short I tried charging a few more times and nothing worked, amazon will not take that as a return item but after talking to customer service they refunded me the entire amount, now I have to deal with disposing of this thing. I did end up buying a similar product made by Duracell, works perfectly.
