Just installed the Charge Controller Regular from the "Sain Store" (along with the SainSonic MT-1 remote LCD meter from "Amazon Warehouse Deals, Inc.").

So-far-so-good! Everything works as described, and was very easy to install. The price was OK @ $52.59 for the Charge Controller, but not the cheapest on the market for a like product, and the MT-1 Meter ("like-new-used") price was GREAT @ $12.55. "FREE SUPERSAVER SHIPPING" from Amazon.com with $25.00+ purchase was a real nice touch.

Some products such as this one (sold online) are similar with no lableing to indentify the maker or where it was manufactured (USA, China, or outer space)!! That's my main concern here. Beside the Sain Store backing of there item, I have no product maker to rely on for trouble shooting issues or whatever, hopefully none will arise.

Someone should look into labling these products better. Also, no product warranty info, which is somewhat disturbing!!!

That being said, I would appreciate some sort of feedback on these issues, thanks a lot.

These radios are a great product. The charging base makes it easy to keep the battery full and the communication range is great! If you're looking for a pair of radios for use on a hunting/camping trip these are the ones to buy.

As someone who has worked on and used commercial Motorola radio equipment, I do have a bias for Motorola. Granted these FRS radios are nowhere near the quality and durability of those heavy duty higher power commercial units, but for the price you pay, they perform as expected. The MR350 has all the features one would want for emergency or other communication on most outdoor activity. Although the radio did not have the heavy duty solid feel of a competitor I tried recently, it did quite well on a recent rainy day hike. Perhaps the light weight, "plastic" feel of this unit is an advantage when traveling light.

I have tried them out and found they do not go very far. I need to talk to a vehicle in front or rear about 1 or two miles away.

They just make it a mile but not more than that. I need to talk to the leader of a group of RVs.

Very poorly constructed (in China of course) Neither battery cover will latch so they now have duct tape accross the back of them. The switch for the led light is opposite the push to talk switch so its hard not to operate both of them at the same time. Just poorly made-looks like something you'd buy your four year old at the dollar store. I haven't field tested them yet so can't comment on range,etc. If it wasn't such a hassle these would be returned.

This gadget is pretty useful and handy to have. Make sure your smart phones media volume is all the way up for the best sound. I am able to hear my car accelerating now and then...not that horrible.

I'm a little disappointed with this product, since the sound quality is quite poor with the use for my HTC Desire compare to the Transmitter that I have for my iPod.

I've been using this product for a couple of days now with my USCC HTC Desire and it is great. The display is brightly lit and easy to access. I like that it doesn't auto scan. The buttons are easy to use. I set my channel and since I drive often for work, I got a chance to see how clear the sound was in four different towns. The fact that is uses Gomadics tip technology is great, however my experience in the past with this company is that their tips can arrive kinda wonky. Customer service, however is great. I highly recommend this product.

If your looking for starting capability,this isn't the product for you.

I own a small car dealership and was able to start one out of the last six attempts.The 900 amps listed is peak amps and does not represent cold cranking power. The cables are extremely brittle and break rather easily. Air compressor works well if you are looking for emergency tire inflation and are not in a hurry but this isn't a feature of any value to me.

Overall, this jump starter is a complete disappointment.

I was given one of these chargers when i turned 16 to keep in my trunk. I used the charger and air pump tons of times over the years, moving it from car to car. It always had plenty of power to jump any vehicle i owned from a toyota celica to a nissan xterra. I just purchase my second unit after 10 years because the charger did not seem to charge anymore. This was most likely due to my dad using the unit to jump an old truck every day while performing a restoration. The new one is just as good as the old one and i will keep it in my survival kit in my xterra for years to come.

I have used this product for 3 years now, and whenever I have needed it, it has ALWAYS performed perfectly for me. I have a mustang that I keep in my garage and it don't come out much, so naturally, the battery loses charge. No prob! I plug this bad boy up to it, crank it, and it fires right up. I don't know what the other people are saying as to how it has failed them, but this one for me has been flawless really. Even the air compressor has been fine. I personally would reccomend this HIGHLY. Mine is a red one, but its the same model.

Had a previous one and loved it, lasted 10 years, bought a replacment battery, good to go for another ten. Charging it regularly is key, I wasn't a saint about it, but every couple months stick the charger on it for an hour and it's good. This one is nice, you just need to keep track of the special cord it takes, the charger is built onboard inside of it. If you manipulate the hose behind the little door for compressor hose storage, you can fit this special cord in there and never lose it. :) Meter is valuable to check charging initially and on recharges, it's reasonably accurate. Light works, standard bulb, nice to have an On/Off switch, I have one in the other car that doesn't and it's a concern if the jump cable gets loose and grounds to something. Cords are a little short here, but you get used to it. Highly recommend for personal use, if you own a car dealership, you should probably be buying one for $300 or more for that kind of use, but for an average Joe who works on cars and keeps 10 or so cars humming for family and friends, this is a great item to have at this fine price. I willl update if batter life slacks on this, my second purchase.

I was tired of being Drained Down by those lead acid batteries.

They require regular maintenance, stocking backup distilled water to refill the cells, and testing. I am R-E-T-I-R-E-D and would rather sip my favorite green tea and honey, instead of worrying about those lead acid batteries. After all your care and maintenance, in a few months lead acid batteries still become bloated and unreliable. Who needs that unreliability when you will need backup batteries during a major critical incident that brings down your local, regional or national electrical grid?

The Vmaxlr125 AGM batteries, while more expensive than lead acid, are worth every dollar! The Customer Service by the fine employees at BargainShore is superb, too. They answered my various technical questions prior to purchase, then updated their Amazon product photos to show more specific details of the product, too.

The batteries came individually wrapped in plastic, then DOUBLE boxed with precut Styrofoam board.

While the Vmaxlr125 is slightly heavier than the older lead acid batteries they replaced, the fit in the reinforced battery receptacle was perfect. It was also a perfect fit and match for the parallel connections of the new Vmaxs to each other with our terminal connectors, digital charger and system.

While now I can peaceably sip my green tea, my system is finally sipping some reliable electrical backup juice now—and ready for a S.I.P. Event (Shelter-In-Place) to help protect those who God placed in my stewardship.

The Good: It does what it says it does.

The Bad: It could be a little high quality:

1. The AC prongs are hard to flip out without help (e.g. a pen or key or anything else to grab/pry). Smaller fingers may have a better time, but my fat fingers can't get in the spot they prongs sit to pull them out. (Really not a big deal, as anything narrow-ish can get them out easily).

2. The USB ports could be deeper, firmer, and better constructed. They work, usually without effort. However, there are certain orientations where the connection fails (usually if there's a little tension on the cord, like if you have a self coiling cable and the plastic thing in the middle of the cable is pulling on the cord a little).

The OK and not their fault:

You should understand that this will charge a modern smart-phone battery about 75%. It's not even a full second battery, but this is what's advertised, and for many people (like me) it's fine.

Other thoughts:

I prefer it to an extended battery because 90% of the time I only really need the standard battery, and don't want to walk around with the extra large version.

I forget what I paid for it, but it seems like it was fairly inexpensive, and at that, it's a nice little tool.

The Incipio Technologies 2-port Universal Backup Battery Charger arrived on time from the vendor. The product worked as described. I had expected that it would hold greater than one charge. However, I must admit that I did not read anything in the specification or literature as to how many charges would be provided by this device. I had also purchased a spare battery for my Samsung Captivate. So far, I have found it to be more convenient to install a freshly charged battery rather than to recharge my battery with the Universal Backup Battery Charger. Consequently, I use this product as my backup battery if and when I have used the spare battery. It takes about the same amount of time to charge a discharged battery as my wall charger and I am able to use my phone while it is charging.

Originally I wanted a portable unit that I could clip and unclip from the boat batteries as needed (which would not be very often as the engines usually provide sufficient charge), but a permanent charger seemed much simpler. Once it's set up, simply plug it in and let it charge the batteries. The unit was very well packed in its box. It appears very water proof. The cords (to the battery bank and for the 125v) were a surprisingly good length. Simply screw the unit onto an appropriate spot on board, screw the leads onto the battery terminals and plug it in. For a neater finish I also cut the plug off the 125v cord and installed a through hull inlet (Marinco 150BBIW Marine On-Board Charger Inlet (15-Amp, 125-Volt, White).

I live on a hill above Mayfield Lake in Washington state. For the last two years, I have been working more and playing less. My boat is moored on the lake and on those rare days when I get to go fishing, I'd often get to the lake and be disappointed to find a dead battery. Iota products are now very LOW quality China cheap import chargers. My company has 70+ trucks using these Iota converter. After 2 weeks of being put into service the Iota converters started failing.

They are being replaced under warranty, but it is costing my company over $500.00 per truck to replace that Iota will not pay. Yesterday I learn that the replacement units are now failing as well. Iota has lots of problems, stay away!!!

I was looking for an RV converter that was also good as a charger, and this one looked like the price/performance winner. It's a modern switching power supply with a small footprint, and on command it can operate at a high enough voltage to rapidly bulk charge your properly sized flooded-cell lead-acid deep cycle battery (the dual-voltage key to accomplish this is included with the converter, taped to the cooling fan).

Temperature compensation for charge voltage is not available, and I found the use of a square-key bolt for the battery cables perplexing and irritating. I would have much preferred the more common hex-key bolt.

Combined with an inexpensive IOTA IQ4 charge controller, the DLS-55 becomes an automatic 3 stage charger with equalization every 7 days. I liked this as a cheaper, modular solution for my battery maintenance needs. If I am not happy with the IQ4, I can easily replace it with a more expensive charge controller and use it with the DLS-55.

I bought this charger to jump start cars with dead batteries. It is not capable of doing this.

These are the actual specs the charger produces.

At 50 amp draw the charger will maintain just over 12 volts, when current draw out of the charger is increased to 100 amps charger voltage drops to 10 volts, when current draw out of the charger is increased to 200 amps the charger voltage drops to 6.5 volts.

So a typical starter that draws around 200 amps (common 4 cylinder starter motor draw) and needs 12 volts to operate, this charger will not turn the car motor over.

The 10 and 30 amp ranges work fine for fast charging of a battery.

Add note 4/4/2013:

I contacted the company to discuss the battery charger's capabilities.

The tech rep said the charger is not designed to start a car without a good battery.

He recommended letting the battery charge for an extended period of time and switching to the start mode to start the car.

So this machine is good for events like leaving the lights on, etc. where a battery is ok but has lost its charge and you need to charge the battery up in a hurry.

I bought this product plus 2 Kodak AAA rechargeables for my Handspring Visor. I've only had this item for 3 months and already it has stopped working. The green light that indicates that the recharger is working--has STOPPED. Therefore it will not recharge the batteries at all. I'm stuck with a crappy product and am going to return it to the manufacturer. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! i bought this item based on the reveiws here at Amazon and apparently they were not thorough enough. Save your money and don't waste your time on this product by Kodak. Btw, Handspring also recommends that you do NOT use rechargeable batteries for the Visor Deluxes. They recommend only alkaline batteries or special rechargeable units that are sold on some obscure site. Ask them; i did and after i bought this Kodak unit i was sadly informed that Visors Deluxes should NOT use rechargeables.

It really seems to work great after 6 months and many charges. It was a very economical purchase and worked great overseas. Oh yeah, it works with any NiMH. By the way NiMH really lasts longer than regular AAs for my mp3 player. Disposables make zero sense to me.

This charger works great with the Cowon J3. I leave the display turned on and the volume all the way up (to achieve a better signal-to-noise ratio, I think) and the battery remains topped off.
