Griffin PowerDuo Charging Kit for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players

Griffin PowerDuo Charging Kit for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players
  • Handy dual charging kit designed for SanDisk Sansa audio player
  • PowerJolt plugs into car's 12-volt accessory outlet for vehicle charging
  • Full-featured PowerBlock AC adapter plugs into standard wall outlet
  • Includes flat-bladed, nonpolarized plugs for international use
  • Detachable 4-foot USB-to-Sansa connector cable; 1-year warranty

I purchased this to charge my Sansa mp3 player on my vacation last weekend, and it worked great! Plug one end into the wall and plug the other into the mp3 player, it begins charging right away. I'm not sure of the exact charge time needed, as I charged it overnight in the hotel room, but it worked beautifully for me. Also, you can actually use the mp3 player while it charges with this product, something you cannot do if you are charging from a USB port on your computer.

Bottom line...it works and the price is good. If you have a Sansa and are sick of charging with the USB port on your computer or are going on vacation without a laptop, this is a good buy.

I don't trust some of the equipment that does too rapid of a charge and isn't properly spec'd for the Sansa. This one is spec'd properly and it has good verstility. Downside is it costs more.

The Griffin PowerDuo Charging Kit for Sansa Audio Player is very handy product. You can charge and listen in your car or any wall outlet. Have not had any problems so far.

Want Griffin PowerDuo Charging Kit for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players Discount?

I found it inconvenient to charge my Sansa MP3 player from my laptop (the laptop goes on power save if I'm not using it and then decharges vs charges the Sansa) or my desktop (I don't really use it anymore and it's a waste of electricity to turn it on just to charge the Sansa). This little inexpensive charger is convenient and charges the Sansa in less time than a computer. I subtracted 1 star because the adapters do not plug directly into the Sansa. You need to have the original charging cord used with the computer. You plug the original cord into the Sansa and then into the charger and then plug it into the wall. I don't think the product description included you need the original charging cord and I'm glad I still had mine. I've had the charger for several months now and it works very well.

Powerex A/C Battery Charger/Conditioner - 4 Pack

Powerex A/C Battery Charger/Conditioner - 4 PackWhen I purchased my first digital camera 3 years ago, I never thought it could go through batteries as quickly as it did so I never thought about buying rechargables. Besides, my rechargable history had not been a good one. Very expensive batteries, charger only worked when it wanted to work.

I did quite a bit of research when I purchased my newest digital camera and batteries 6 months ago. The PowerEX batteries and chargers were reviewed quite highly and tested to be long lasting. The price was decent and much lower than I had paid 3 years ago for other rechargables. I figured that I didn't have too much to lose.

Well, six months later I am getting ready to buy more batteries for other items in the house. There were times that I loaded my fully charged batteries in my camera and took over 1000 flash pictures and still had a great charge on the batteries. They hold their charge for weeks and can be charged quickly if needed.

My son uses these in his game cube wireless controlers and gets days worth of playing time from them before needing a charge.

These are inexpensive, ship very quickly, and are a deal for twice the price. I can't imagine having to lug around regular batteries in my camera case ever again. And with PowerEX batteries, I won't have to.

This thing has ruined three sets of rechargeable batteries. The batteries become very hot. Sometimes it charges them and sometimes it refuses to charge the batteries. I have to believe that there are better products on the market than this one.

I had to purchase this battery charger because I had lost my previous charger which was amazing. But, this one was really really really poor. I have been using these batteries with my Canon Powershot S2IS camera. The charge does not last for a few hours not even 50 shots, whereas the previous one I had used to last for a week about 400 shots! The charger turns green from red within an hour.

I did get the product well in time. I am not sure if this is something related to Powerex, or the shipping company. Other batteries do last long though!

this small adapter allows you to charge anything away from home. It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket (should we call these power sockets by now?) and then you can plug your device into either a USB port OR a regular plug socket just like at home.

it's case is included and it is small enough to easily fit into your glove compartentment (does anyone put gloves there?) without taking up all the room. This is such a useful tool to have that I bought one for each of our cars and each of my children's cars.

Well, I will give it one star because I have to and one more because it worked great for a week then started to get loider. I bought it off Woot for $8 + shipping and could not get them to replace it. I guess it has a manufacturer Warranty but have not tried that yet. The problem it that it made a rattling noise and sounds as if something is stuck in it. Then it starts to smell as if it is about to catch on fire. Great, that is the last thing I needmy truck to burn down. I will not use it if I am not with it.

Other downsides. The charging port is on the same side as the power cord that you plug in. This is awkward. You can only charge one at a time or it gets loud. Never tried it on an airplane but I guess that would be one place that the amount of noise it makes would not matter. Mine did not come with it's little cary case as it was supposed to.

Pyle PL12V2US Cigarette Lighter Multiplier with USB Charger

Pyle PL12V2US Cigarette Lighter Multiplier with USB Charger
  • Powers two 12V electronic items
  • 5V USB full size female port
  • 2 front mount female cigarette lighter ports
  • Single corded male cigarette lighter power source
  • Ultra bright LED indicator

I bought this item about a month earlier, and straight out of the box I couldn't fit a USB into the USB slot. It was off center of the hole so I got some pliers and managed to pull it down enough to where the USB would plug into it but it wouldn't charge. I thought maybe since the USB was off center it may have had something to do with it so I gladly returned it to Amazon free of charge and bought another one. Straight out of the box the USB does not work, AGAIN. This one the USB actually went right into the slot though. As far as I know the cigarette sockets work but what's the point of including a USB slot on it if it's unusable? Another slight complaint is that the unit itself has scratches and scuffs on it almost appearing to be used instead of new.

Because we have older cars but wanted multiple 12 volt powered devices plugged in to the cigarette lighter for trips...I tried this. I do hate having wires and the thing sitting on the car floor....but having an easy way to plug in the GPS and Radar for trips is worth it. I just leave it on the garage counter until we are ready to travel...and then plug it all in. If I wasn't so cheap I would just buy a new car.... but this works great.

Ultra bright LED indicator does not exist.

DC jacks are too short for some common plugs... they plug in, but pop right out.

USB port was not aligned properly and doesn't seem to work at all, though I suspect the welds on the board were probably damaged by the angling and pushing required to get a usb cord plugged in... so it might have worked if it had been assembled/designed correctly.

I am glad I read the review from Eric. I purchased this to install in the cap in the back of my truck. After reading the review, I decided I better check mine before installing it. I connected an iPod to the USB port, and it did not work. The two other outlets do work. I tried the USB port on my GPS and it worked. I tried another iPod and cable, and it did not work. It seems to work on some and not others. There is no ultra bright LED light as description claims. There is no way to mount or install this unit, so I planned on using stick on velcro to mount it to the carpet in the cap.

Generac 5626 GP7000E 8750-Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator with Electric Start

Generac 5626 GP7000E 8750-Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator with Electric StartUnit was very easy to put together (wheels and handles). Connected the battery lead, put in oil, gas and it started right up. Battery was charged from the factory. It does come with a AC charger for the battery that plugs into the front of the generator panel. I wish it was a trickle charger but it said to only leave it plugged in for max of 48 hours. It does have a pull start backup.

Bought it in combo with the GenTran 3028K 30 Amp 8-Circuit Transfer Switch/Power on Amazon. The manual transfer switch kit came with 25ft generator cord, plugs and everything I needed to connect to my load center. I can run 10 circuits and almost everything in my house except the AC. Ran it for about 8 hours with partial load on one tank of gas.

Generac 5626 GP Series GP7000E 8750-Watt 410cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator with Electric Start (Non-CARB Compliant)

GenTran 3028K 30 Amp 8-Circuit Transfer Switch/Power Inlet Box/Power Cord Kit For Up To 7,500-Watt Generators

Delivery of the Generac GP7000E was fast and the curbside delivery by the carrier was excellent. They brought the generator up onto my front porch. (not something they do all the time). The generator is sturdy and well made. As a handyman I liked the fact that most of the important maintenance parts are easily assessable (oil filter, spark plug etc.)

Some assembly is required for the frame (handles, wheels etc.). The diagrams were hard to read mainly because some important illustrations are head on drawings rather than showing front and rear). However it's not hard to figure out.

After filling with the supplied oil and hooking up the battery wire to the starting coil (it's tagged with a illustration in the manual) I filled it with 5 gallons of gas with a fuel stabilizer. In today's age of methanol/gasoline mixtures I feel this is a must.

I then started it up with two short pushes of the power switch.

The sound is tolerable as almost all generators are somewhat loud. I then tested it under load through my transfer switch and it did very well.

The next day I tested the recoil start. Here it took me six or seven pulls to start it. The good news though is the recoil start is positioned in such a way as it pulls straight without obstruction. This was not always true on older Generac models where the frame sometimes made a straight pull difficult. It was also easy to pull and not the strenuous heart attack pulls needed on older models.

My only complaints are trivial. I do not like the start button at the back of the machine ,near the choke , nor do I like the fact it is a black button on a black field. You can stare straight at it and not see it.

The manual leaves a bit to be desired.

Also , this machine does not charge the battery when it runs. It does however come with a 120 volt charger. This however only makes sense if you routinely check the battery. Obviously in a power failure situation with an undercharged battery it would not be of only use.

Overall I believe this portable generator is very well made and highly recommended.

I have owned and used much more expensive and more notable generators and believe it compares favorably.

I bought this to replace my 5000w pull start generator, also a Generac. I had good luck with the old one.

This is actually a pretty good unit. However the fact that it does not charge the battery when running is just plain stupid!! I also found that even if I charge the battery, it fails in cold weather. I ran separate positive and negative wires and hooked them to a small car battery, which I have on an automatic battery tender.

Now, I never have to worry about it!

During the last power outage, the low oil cut off switch failed. It would sporadically kill the engine, just enough to make it stumble, and then quit under load. It would restart, and then stumble again. Drove me nuts! I had to bring it in for repair in the middle of the outage! The repair shop figured out it was the low oil cutoff, and put in a new one under warranty. When I got it home, I promptly disconnected the damn thing. I am smart enough to check the oil!

When it is running good, it will run for over 12 hours on a full tank, which is great....

I have noted that I "like" this item, but I really don't know yet. The generator arrived with a leaking gas tank and a fuel gauge that does not work. We found a dealer that could look at the generator and hopefully repair it. It's been three weeks now and still no repair. I do hope that the generator will be repaired soon and in good working order for us. The Generac name was highly recommended. Perhaps the generator was damaged during shipment and it may be better to purchase something like this from a local dealer.

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Hands-Free Speakerphone (Black)

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Hands-Free SpeakerphoneI have been selling wireless since 1996 and have used multiple headsets, hands free solutions, etc. This has the best voice quality of any in-car set up I have used. I was using a Jawbone, which I still have, and is excellent. I am just tired of having something hanging on my ear X hours a day. I am a gadget freak for sure but I am tired of the tool on my ear.

I made some calls at 80mph in my wife's minivan on the turnpike to friends to get their feedback before using it for business and they did no know I was on a speakerphone...that's good enough for me. The voicedialing, as with any voicedialing feature, sucks. They all suck. The voice answer did not work either say 'ok' to answer...yeah my kids were laughing at me saying 'ok' 6 times and then the call went to voicemail because it never answered. But I expected that...so just reach up and tap the answer button...no worries. My concern was voice quality, and it passed the test.

The auto phonebook transfer to a blackberry will not work from the device but will work if you do it from your BBerry's blutooth menu and push it to the device. It took about 10 minutes for my 1500+ contacts to transfer. I only did that so I could hear the name of the inbound caller, which is cool. The reality is we all have our phones right next to us when the call comes in and we can look at the phone's screen if need be.

01/09 UPDATE: I got a new car and well...I have to turn this off for business calls. It's just not good enough. What changed? Well, just my car. There is nothing worn with the device. So maybe the cars insulation is coming into play? I am driving a C6 Corvette and I am certain it is not as insulated as my previous car (Audi TT) or my wife's minivan. That being said, if your car is well insulated from road noise you should love this device. Cheers, Josh.

Being a fan of the supertooth 2, I got the supertooth 3 for the text to speech feature which is supposed to announce the caller's name based on your address book. Problem is that I could never get it to say the caller's name, instead it will only say the number. I'm using it with a blackberry 8830 and have also tried it with a Mot Krzr with the same results. Contacted the company over the phone who's support is great but they couldn't get it to say the caller's name either and suggested the I send it back. Not good for a new product.

I'm sending it back and we'll see what happens with the next one.

----------------------------------------------

Update 6-13-08:

We still can't get the ST3 to announce the callers name either. We are on our third one after returning two of them. In our company we have BB8830's and Pearls. Tried on both with no luck, only phone numbers are announced. Also tried on two Mot KRZR's also with no luck either. Called vendor three times now and they had me do the batt thing also. They finally said that our vendor may have had a "bad batch". This one is really hard to believe. I called our vendor who is not happy that this "may be the case". I'm now waiting for blueant to send me an envelope to send the unit back and to then send me one directly from the factory.

I'm not holding my breath on this. Guess it's like software... never by version 1.0 of anything. For a few weeks, there was nothing out there (internet search) that pointed to this problem but now it's everywhere.

Aside from that, the unit performs as good as the Supertooth Light verison.

------------------

7-3-08: Still haven't received the product return package from the manufacturer. We are still getting the Supertooth 3 device for clients though because the other "advertised" features do work and work well and so far is the most "hands free".

Buy BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Hands-Free Speakerphone (Black) Now

After much research here on Amazon, I decided to order the BlueAnt Supertooth3 to solve the dilemma of California's new cellphone law. I did not want any such product, but some of the available solutions are definitely less wanted than others. The Plantronics 510 Voyager would be good for a person who doesn't mind wearing gear and doesn't use sunglasses or other glasses, but I'm not a headset/earpiece kinda gal. The BlueAnt Light, with the protruding mic, sounded like a major irritation just because of the temperamental mic that would get stuck. For me, the lack of Caller ID made it unacceptable. I don't answer unnecessary calls while driving. The Jabra speakerphone does not come with a home charger. That is ridiculous, and I would never buy a product that required another purchase, when it should come with it in the first place. I saw so few reviews for the Supertooth3, which was disappointing, but decided to write one myself.

I received it yesterday. It took just under an hour to charge, and it comes with a home charger, car charger and two magnet clips. It wouldn't sync the phonebook from my LG8300, not even one at a time contacts. This means that Caller ID announces the incoming number, not the name, but that is okay with me. I had never used voice dial on my phone, but the Supertooth booklet instructed that one voice tag was necessary on the phone in order to use voice dial. So I made one voice dial call from my phone, and then tried it on the Supertooth. It worked fine. I can say, "Call Sonia Home", and it dials Sonia's home phone as opposed to her cellphone. In order to enable handsfree voice answer, one must depress the volume button until it gives the voice message that it has been done. Another reviewer of the BlueAnt Light said that the flashing blue light was driving her insane, but that light lets you know the device is working as it should. For some reason, it was not flashing right after I got it and not working, but I assume that is because I did not know how to use it.

The most annoying thing by far is in the way I have to use it, due to the fact that if I get out of my car and am within 30 feet, the BlueAnt will answer the call and I can't take it on my phone. I make many short trips and in and out of buildings at a short distance. So I have to turn off the Supertooth3 before I get out of the car, and turn it back on when I get back in. What I don't know is whether it is necessary to re-enable the voice answer by depressing the volume button every time I turn it on, but that is what I have been doing. I also wonder if these devices are made to withstand the extreme heat in the car in summer. I certainly hope so, because we have weeks at a time of 100+ degrees. I also hope it is made sturdily enough to handle being turned off and on frequently.

The voice quality of calls both ways is better than the Garmin Nuvi 360 by far. The magnets are strong. The clip was kind of hard to get on my thick visor, and I won't be able to use the business card slots on the back of the visor, but the device is small and it looks cute. It's easy to take it with you and reattach it. The battery life is said to be 800 hours if you never turn it off, and much more if you do. I will be turning it off every night.

I'd say this is the best product for this purpose, which for me is simply to comply with a law that I wish had not been passed. I find all devices to be a distraction, and a cellphone alone is less distraction than in combination with other things. Guess what? Californians can still text message while they drive! Doesn't that make you want to visit? ;)

Just as the first reviewer. I'm having the same problem with my supertooth 3. I have an Iphone and it will only announce the number not the name and Blueant requested I send it back. I will update this as soon as I recieve the new one. And yes customer service at Blueant is excellent......However, I do pay shipping back to them....that's not so good

AND NOW FOR THE UPDATE : 7/5/08 My third Blue Ant st3 is all that !.....this one works perfectly with my iphone , the first two worked fine but did not say the name of the caller.....the early models of st3 do not work with all phones.....it was software issue that has been resolved....the key here is if indeed your having problems....getting an st3 with a higher serial #....Blue Ant customer service is outstanding....Talk to Dave. he'll make it right. .... oh and i would now give this product AND OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE a five star rating !!!

Want BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Hands-Free Speakerphone (Black) Discount?

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but it just wasn't perfect. How about 4.5 stars. The product pretty much worked as advertised. Uploading the address book was a snap. In minutes I had the product up and running. Controls were easy to use and voice features appeared to work just fine. I spent some time using the product in a variety of conditions and everything appears to work perfectly. Incoming sound appeared to be very good and I had no trouble hearing callers even in somewhat noisy conditions. Callers reported to me that my voice sounded a bit hollow or had a slight echo but they had no trouble hearing me. Pairing and unpairing has worked perfectly so I have been very happy using this. It has been a much better solution to me then a earpiece. Unlike other users, I actually had more trouble with the number caller ID then the name caller ID. It called out the names perfectly but seemed to have occasional trouble completing saying the number. At times it would cut part of the number off. On to the pros and cons:

ProsEasy to set up and use. Generally does everything it advertises athough not quite perfectly. Good battery life and excellent sound caracteristics, easy pairing and unpairing make this a joy to use. The case is attractive and very functional with the magnetic clips that let you unhook the unit quickly. Voice controls work perfectly.

ConsInstruction set could be better. You have to sync the address book when you add a new contact. An automated sync would have been a very nice feature. Caller ID software need just a bit more work.

Overall a very nice package. I recommend this product.

Want Energizer Energi To Go iPod Charger With 2 AA Lithium Batteries Discount?

First of all, *DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT HERE ON AMAZON*

I love Amazon, but for this particular charger, Buy has it on sale for around $6 with free shipping. I got two of these babies just in case one goes out.

It works with the iPhone 3G. I had to switch the selector to the level left of the 30GB mark to get the iPhone 3G to charge. I'm sure it would work for my 5th Gen 30GB iPod with no problem. Capacity-wise, I'm not sure how much juice the provided pair of batteries would give to the iPhone. I'll drain out my iPhone next and see.

The connector is a bit flimsy so be careful when you have the iPhone/iPod plugged in. Snapping off the $300 gadget while charging on a $6 device is not a fun thing to do. Also, since the connector isn't very steady if you wiggle the iPhone, watching movies or playing games will be an issues. Looks like the Kensinton charger (the one that is a break-out box with a connector cable) has a better designed in this regard, however, it's $40 compared to $6.

Now I'm resuming my quest of buying some good rechargeable batteries to prepare for my 22-hour international flight coming up this summer. Oh the joy of having 30GB of music all the time :)

Bought this product for a long road trip from Minnesota to New Orleans, tested it on my ipod before use, and now I have no working ipod. I called Energizer to complain about their product, they sent me a mailing slip to have the charger and the ipod sent to them, on their dollar. Six weeks later, I get a check, saying they couldn't fix my ipod. Not going to try another one, especaiily after reading some of the reviews, probably gonna buy a new ipod, with a longer battery life.

It definitely works and it's worth the money for the application (using the laptop for the kids to view movies). My only complaint is that it's VERY tight in the car outlet, so if you don't pull it out just so, it comes apart. But if you're careful, it's fine (I just don't let my wife do it any more :)). Like the other posters said: The sound of the fan is forgotten very quickly as you're on the road.

I wanted to find a charger that didn't have an annoying light so it could be used in my bedroom and this looked perfect. However it does not work with my iPod Touch. It says "Charging is not supported with this accessory".

It works ok for the older iPod Video I have and an iPod Shuffle.

You need to be careful when buying a charger for your iPod. Many of the cheap ones on the market don't have any protection to keep your iPod from overcharging, heating up and burning out. And guess what, if you over charge and burn out your iPod, the warranty is void. This charger is a little more expensive than most but it won't overcharge. It's a very well made unit and folds flat for easy packing. I've used Monster products before and their products are a good measure of the age old adage; "You get what you pay for".

I bought this charger from Amazon.com 3 weeks ago. Over this time, it has been working perfectly as expected. I keep it plugged into an outlet with the iPod's cable attached and just connect the iPod whenever it needs a re-charge. My 5G iPod video, 2.5 years old, recharges from 0 to full in less than hour and a half. The charger does not have any light indicator, but the iPod will say "Charged" on its screen, once that is achieved. Monster says there is a smart device inside that will keep your iPod from overcharging.

Something that may not be obvious from the pictures this charger is really very small. It is about the same width and height as my Motorola Razr phone charger, only at least twice thinner, making it a real winner over Apple's own charger it will fit in much smaller pockets. The prongs are shifted from the center to one side and spring-loaded, so unfolding them is a snap, quite literally well, in a good way.

Obviously, a dedicated charger for an iPod is by no means necessary, as long as one remains within reach of a computer, but it is a great convenience, especially for those of us who rely on a laptop. You know your computer only charges the iPod when it's awake, right? Not to mention the times when there is no computer around a scary thought, I know...

Finally, a note for fellow comparison shoppers: the current price for this item here, ~$21, is good. You can get it from that popular internet auction site for $10 but will pay another $10 in shipping. Or, you could consider Apple's own charger, I heard it is cheaper from Apple directly, or from that same place on the web, the one that rhymes with "bay". I just liked Monster's charger much better. And do yourself a favor, stay away from those $1.50-$2 chargers you see popping up in your "iPod charger" search. How much did you pay for your iPod? Thought so...

This device will cause your iPhone 3Gs to display an error message, and it won't charge. Seems to work OK with other iPods and even the iPhone 3G however. One star for a flawed description of the product.

iSimple IS32 TranzIt USB Universal Car FM Radio Integration for MP3 Players, Smartphones, and Tablet

iSimple IS32 TranzIt USB Universal Car FM Radio Integration for MP3 Players, Smartphones, and Tablets
  • Charges any USB device (excluded iPad)
  • 3.5 audio support
  • FM modulator included

If you need an aux input on your stereo this is a GREAT option. I have no noise and the audio quality is only slightly less than CD. I am so happy with this. It took me about 1.5 hours to install on an Infinity G35, and the result is WONDERFUL. My only gripe: I needed antenna adapters for my car. Make sure to check this so you know what equipment you need. This is hardly the fault of this product. I highly recommend it!

HELLO AMAZON FANS EVERYWHERE!!!!

.

First off: I realize that the date on the shipping notification email stating the anticipated date of arrival is an estimate, but it was almost a full week after that date when the item arrived. In contrast to most of my purchases on Amazon, which are usually fulfilled by them, and arrive either on or before the estimated date.

As for the item itself I have no complaints; if you have a little mechanical ability and the patience to do some research, like the proper way to remove the radio, the color codes on the radio's wiring harness, etc; you should have no problem at all.

I installed the device in a 2005 Toyota Tundra; perhaps I should say half installed; the device is properly attached to the radio, I just have not completed the final step of placing the USB, Aux input & power switch in their final resting place. My truck has a 60/40 bench seat without a console; I intend to not use the mounting bracket that came with the device but rather mount the ports and switch directly in the dash. The instruction book comes with a nice template you can use for that purpose and tells you what size drills you will need as well. I just need now to decide where in the dash I want them to go.

The tricky part for some people may be where or how to connect the power wires. Both the red power and black ground wire are plenty long and they pre-strip the ends for you as well.

What I did first was look up the wiring diagram for my trucks radio (look for a website called modifiedlife(dot)com). As this is not a high power device my intent was to, instead of running the wires to the fuse panel or connecting to some stray wires under the dash, attach the red power wire of the modulator to the switched power wire of the radio and the black ground wire to the radios ground wire.

I then found a video on Youtube showing how to remove the radio from the dash.

Armed with this information I felt prepared & comfortable installing the modulator into my truck.

It should go without say that you should make sure no power is going to the radio or anywhere else you plan to connect your modulators wires to before you start splicing; preferably disconnect your vehicles negative battery terminal. I have heard that this sometimes can cause problems on newer cars when you go to use the radio afterwards; something to do with a anti-theft device, so you might want to look into that either in your owners manual or talk to a dealer. For myself and how I planned to run the power a multimeter confirmed that no power went to the switched power wire I was connecting to.

Instead of messing with stripping the insulation off the wires on the harness I clipped off the pre-stripped ends on the Modulator wires right at the point where the insulation was removed & used Quick Lock, sometimes called Scotch Lock, connectors to join the modulators power wires to the radios harness.

This is what the connectors look like: 3M(TM) Scotchlok(TM) 905 Electrical IDC, Double Run or Tap, Low Voltage (Automotive) Applications [PRICE is per BOX]

If you go this route of using these connectors then make sure you fold over the extended tab afterwards to prevent the bare blade from shorting out against any metal in the dash once everything is tucked back in place and the power is connected; sparks are bad; you want to make sure that you don't let the Magic Smoke out of your radio or modulator. Wrapping a piece of electrical tape around the connectors as well is not a bad idea either.

The connectors are color coded; ie Red, Blue, Yellow; each color representing a different range of wire gauge that color will work for; on my radio the red clips did the job.

I removed the antenna wire from the back of the radio, plugged it into the modulator and the antenna wire coming from the modulator was plugged into the back of the radio, no adapter was needed for my vehicle.

Before you run the wires for the ports to the modulator, if you are going to use the mounting bracket that comes with it, make sure that you have fed the wires through that bracket before you run the wires up under your dash and back to the modulator.

Another challenge of this installation can be, depending on your vehicle and where you run the wires, getting the soft floppy wires for the aux input, USB and power switch up and through the tight maze of your dash. What I did was run a thin piece of bailing wire down through the dash to the floor, wrapped it around the plug ends of the wires and gently pulled them up.

After all the connections were made, and all the wires were where I wanted them to be for the time being, I restored power (in my case that was turning on the key) and connected a iPod; plugging it into both the USB power and the aux input, to make sure everything worked. After that I zip tied all the lengths of wire together as well as zip tied the modulator box to the radios harness to keep things neat and prevent any bouncing around.

With the radio back in its home position and everything tucked neatly inside, but before I put the dash back together, I connected the iPod again to make sure nothing had come loose in the process and that everything still worked. After that I reassembled the dash components and went for a little test drive; everything worked great.

Taking my time I probably have a little over an hour into the job; it really was not difficult and the results are well worth it; much better than any cassette adapter or standard FM transmitter.

Good luck & Have a Magical Day.

I almost sold my 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor because it only has a CD player and radio and no auxiliary input. I wanted to be able to play music from an MP3 player but the dash will not take any aftermarket stereo systems. As a last resort, I thought I would give this FM modulator a try. I chose this model because it also has a convenient USB power slot and the ability to mount it anywhere on the dash you can drill a hole. I am very pleased with the results.

I am an amateur when it comes to car electronics, but I was able to install it by myself within an hour. After the dash and factory stereo are removed, the hookup is fairly straightforward. I didn't need an antenna adapter to connect the device. The most difficult part of the process was splicing into the existing radio's power supply. I could have run the power to the fuse box, but I didn't want to pull out more pieces of the dash. Instead, I cut the radio's power line (which I looked up to find it was the blue wire in my vehicle), and spliced the red power line on the device to the two cut ends of the radio power. I grounded it to the same terminal bolt as the radio.

I put the three holes on the top of my dash, to keep it close to the mount where I keep my phone. There are two other mounting options, but because of the inflexible design of my dash, I opted to drill a hole for each component separately. You can put it wherever there is enough room, or even stick the included box to the underside of the dash.

I was extremely pleased when I put everything back together and it worked correctly the first time. Now I can listen to my phone's MP3 player or internet radio, and use its GPS, and didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars replacing the factory radio.

I had a couple of fm modulators in the past and they all weren't good. Finally, I bought this one and to my surprise it was actually very good. Installation was easy since I've had some modulators in the past. Sound quality is really good almost close to CD quality but not quite (after all, this is only a modulator). I love the usb integration, now I can charge my iPod or android. I highly recommend this one for those audiophiles.

Great little product. I tried to replace my original stereo just to get Ipod capabilities and spent a whole lot more for the stereo and wiring harneses, only to have it not work and not fit properly. This is a great little inexpensive option to having those FM transmitter cables and devices for Ipod and Zune. Plus it gives you a USB Charger. I had to purchase the Mini to Large, and Large to mini Antenna adapters separately since my stereo is mini and the product is Large antenna adapters

Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter

Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter
  • Allows high power 12V DC items to operate on 110v AC power.
  • Easy plug in use and vented for safety.
  • Works on portable cooler/warmers, air compressor and other DC appliances.
  • Simple to use

I purchased this unit to power the Koolatron Compact Kooler, which uses 4.5 amps. I initially purchased the Sunforce 55520, which was a big mistake. It arrived dead on arrival and after some research I realized that it never really had the power to run the fridge, even though it boasts 5.8 amps.

However, this worked great right out of the box. My first impression was that it was definitely much heavier than the Sunforce 55520 and it seemed to cool the fridge effortlessly. I precooled my fridge for about 12 hours before plugging it in the car and the adapter never got hotter than lukewarm.

If you need an AC/DC Power Converter that will power a device upto 5 amps, go with the 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter. You won't regret the decision.

There's very little to say about a power supply that works properly. I used this to supply power to my QHY8 astronomical camera, which wants 4 amps at 12 volts. I typically use it for 6-8 hours at a stretch, and while it gets warm, it does the job. This supply was reasonably priced, and it's smaller than the similar 12V DC power supply I purchased to power my anti-dew strips.

I tried to operate a 12-volt fan that is rated at 2.6 Amps and the voltage dropped WAY below 12 volts-making it severely underpowered. The adapter says it can handle 5 amps, I would hate to think what actual voltage it is putting out if you try to put that much load on it. I have used many generic branded 12-volt adapters and never seen a single one perform THIS badly!

IOGEAR GearPower High Capacity Portable Battery Pack GMP1001B (Black)

IOGEAR GearPower High Capacity Portable Battery Pack GMP1001BIn contrast to the other review, this has become a huge addition to me, a black hole for all geeky electric gadgets. Saved my bacon a zillion times already, most notable was a motorcycle trip where it charged an iPod, a cell phone, and my GPS to get me to civilization; I will never ride without it! Construction is very high quality, small & light, charges quickly, charges up multiple devices between charges. I didn't undergo a gamut of detailed tests like the other reviewer just pulled it out of the box waited for it to charge and haven't looked back. For $20 it's a steal, one is sitting my wife's x-mas stocking as I type!

I purchased this little gadget while deployed, in hopes of being able to charge my electronics while in areas without outlets. It works fine with my Kindle and Nintendo DS, however, it will not charge my 4G iPod. Please not that it explicitly says on the packaging that it will charge iPods. I contacted the manufacturer and they admitted that it was the charger, not the iPod, that is dysfunctional. Any potential buyers need to be aware of this, and I wish they would adjust their packaging to reflect what the charger is capable of.
