Battery Tender 081-0148-25 25' Quick Disconnect Extension Cable

Battery Tender 081-0148-25 25' Quick Disconnect Extension Cable
  • 25 feet of DC extension cord
  • Plugs into all Deltran Battery Tenders
  • Allows access to Battery Tender from 30 feet from the battery
  • Perfect for use with the multi-bank chargers

The reason for purchasing this item is obvious. The built in protective caps for the ends are a nice touch. It would be great if they would include an attached chord keeper or cable tie, as I don't need the entire 25' length most of the time. I can see no difference in effectiveness of the charger whether this extension is inserted between the charger and the leads to the battery, or not.

I use this extension to allow me to mount the Battery Maintainer on a shelf in my garage that is near a power outlet. The extension allows me to drape it in the rafters of the garage and then the connections from the battery can come down from above. Before buying this extension I had to set the battery maintainer on the radiator of my truck with its hood up and run an extension cord over for the battery maintainer to plug into. With this extension cord I can unplug the battery maintainer, disconnect the battary maintainer connections from my truck battery and drape them over to the side, shut the hood and drive away. Before it was a hastle to disconnect the battery maintainer and move it over to the side of the garage before being able to drive off. The extension is worth the money to me for that convienence.

Battery tenders a a must for car collectors, auto enthusiasts, motor cycle lovers and really any form of transportation that requires a rechargeable battery. This product is especially useful when some vehicles are dormant for several seasons or are seldom used.

Auto batteries are expensive and the battert tender will significantly extend the life of batteries that are used only part of the time.

Generac 5747 XG8000E 10,000 Watt 410cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electri

Generac 5747 XG8000E 10,000 Watt 410cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric StartFirst, let me make a clear distinction between Amazon and Generac. I purchased this item on 9/15/10. Amazon could not have done better both before and after the sale. Exceptional service. Generac, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. I have not had an opportunity to use the generator yet. I won't have the necessary electrical work done for another week. But I assume that the generator will deliver as promised because I'm certain other reviewers would have said something by now. If it doesn't, I'll add to this review.

My generator was DOA. It would not turn over with the electric start in spite of charging the battery for two days. Also, it would not even "pop" with the manual starter. Four of us tried. And this is where the problem really begins. Generac's warranty policy states that portable generators must be returned to a factory authorized service center under all circumstances. In my opinion, having wheels doesn't make it portable for warranty purposes. Somehow, getting a 255 pound generator in the back of my 4 door sedan, and driving it 25 miles to the closest service center after paying over $1,200 for something that never even started leaves much to be desired. I spoke to two levels of customer service at Generac, and got the same story from both. Because of the hazardous materials in the generator (oil and gas), it can't just be returned. So you need to deal with Generac and their warranty policy. I could have someone from a authorized service center come out to work on it. But, it will cost me $100 right off the bat because Generac will not pay to have anyone come out. I don't think I should have to do this on brand-new merchandise.

I think another reviewer also found this out the hard way. So before you buy anything from Generac, just be aware of what you may need to go through if the item is defective within the waranty period. If you're one of those people who regularly haul things around in a pick-up truck or with a trailer, fine. If not, think twice.

Purchased this after I did a lot of research. Bought it because it was made in the USA. Now I know why we are such deep trouble . It was dead on arrival. Would not start even when pulled. I recharged the battery and tried the next day.. Nothing . Took apart the cover and tested all connections to see if there was any juice. Got a pair of jumper cables and jumped the battery . It sparked but nothing else. Took a screw driver and crossed the starter cell. Started up. Bad starter controller. Called customer service and after waiting for 25 minutes , explained the problem, explained I am a handicapped Senior and had no way of getting the machine to a dealer which was 75 miles away. Asked her to send me the part and I could replace it with no problem. Out of the question. Told me to go to a lawn mower shop and buy a part. The choke cable is to short so when the unit is running , it rattles the choke cable on and chokes out the generator. Sorry I got involved with this company. Amazon said it is not returnable and I have only had it 2 day. So much for Made in the USA a real sorry unit with no quality control. They should change the Corp name to Gener=crap Sequel Genracrap vs Irene. Had problems with gas in oil, bad shut off value, after that was fixed and had to use manual choke as cable was bad, it did the job but what a pain in the butt

After research I settled on this unit based on name brand, made in USA and quality. Many generators on the market today are shiny and fancy looking but made out of the country. Right now in our shop at work sits two generators that need partsname brands mind you but they were made in China and the parts cannot be purchased-all we have are motors!.

This is a very well made unit with a unique engine design for generators. Many generators use general purpose engines not well suited for this application. For those who have trouble starting remember a couple of itemsit is shipped without gas and oil_ once added you want to crank a few short times to splash the oil on the cylinder. Make sure the fuel shutoff valve is open. You may have to crank several times to get the fuel in the systemif you over choke you will need to crank as if flooded or let it sit a few minutes and crank again. This is normal for any engine that has been shipped dry of fluids. Once started let it run for 15 minutes.

This is an excellent unit but could have a couple of redesigns. First, put some real wheels on this heavy babyevery generator I looked at had plastic wheels. Second the handle bar mechanism needs a minor change, If you pick up too quickly or in a bind situation the bars may slip out of the snap mechanism. A simple pin to lock it out would solve the problemI will retrofit mine.other negatives? Can't find any.

The quality build is exceptional compared to competitors. Commercial design and parts set this apart from most generators. A generator needs to be well built, well designed and is not meant to be a thing of beautydon't be fooled by the glitzy looking imposters that use old brand names but are now built out of the country

Brand new today. Put it together, oil, gas, excited to start it up. Nothing. Cranks, but will not turn over. Not even a hint that it wants to start.

Guess I will have to pay the bucks for a repair guy to come out an visit. Very, very annoyed!!!

I absolutely love this generator I have put over 100 hours on this unit since I purchased it last year at about this time. Combined with a Reliance transfer switch I had everything hooked up to 6 circuits in my house in about an hour. The generator started right up out of the box and has started reliably every since even when I use the manual pull start it fires right up.

I am powering everything from a 220 well pump to my dishwasher to my oil fired boiler/airhandler to my lights...oh, and of course my fridge, freezers and flat screen tv...with plenty of power to spare. And yes, having a dishwasher on my generator might be considered a bit excessive, but 8 days into an outage its looking pretty nice. I guess if I had to do it again though, I would go as far as adding my wash machine because around day 10 our clothes are starting to ripen a bit.

Some things about the generator:

Its loud...

Its very heavy...

It burns about 5 gallons at 1/3 load for 6-8 hours of use

Did I mention its loud?

You can use a Fram PH4967 oil filter in a pinch to substitute for the Generac filter.

I run the generator religiously once every 2-3 weeks for about 10 minutes

I change the oil/filter after every lengthy use regardless of what the hour meter says

During an outage I run it for about 8 hours a day, never over night

In fact, I am running the generator now as I write this on my laptop...I know a lot of people are shopping for generators now after Sandy so I want to make sure Generac gets a fair shake, despite some of the negative reviews...So 5 stars from me for this excellent product and here's to hoping I never have to use my generator again!

Cellet PIPHR Retractable Plug In Car Charger for Apple iPod Classic, iPod Touch 2nd Gen, iPod nano 4th GenI was looking for a new charger for my car since my other one got caught and started to shred. I love that it's retractable so it can't get caught and shred anymore.

Interesting design so I tried it. I don't talk much on my cell so having the ability to adjust how much cord is extended to connect the phone is nice. When a call comes in you just pull the phone and cord reels out easily. Also the cord is limp type which I like and takes up little room when retracted.

These walkie talkies described in one word are great. They are completely ideal for business, hobbies, or even for children. The walkie talkies are very clear, loud and easy to use. The flashlight is a good light for small areas. Not ideal for backyard. Maybe a closet. The only thing about the walkie talkies that is a con is that when you hold the talk button, if you do not wait about 2 seconds you will get cutoff on the other handheld and they will not hear your complete transmition. Overall this product is amazing!

I have had these for two month now and use them on a daily basis. I am very happy with the battery life, clarity and especially the ease of use. I really like the audible notification of the currently selected channel. One dissapointment that I had is that I purchased a midland earpiece that has a very similar headset connector but found that it did not work with these walkie talkies.

Our 11 year-old grandson wanted walkie talkies for Xmas, and since his dad takes him out in the woods for camping and general roaming around, they would also be very useful for keeping in touch when out of sight. I researched various models available on Amazon, and while my son wanted something with some color on it (in case it gets dropped in the woods and he has to search for it), I thought these had the best combination of price and performance. BTW, I ordered them on Friday before Xmas, and they showed up (with std shipping, no less) on Monday morning, Xmas Eve -can't beat that! My son and grandson went into full testing mode immediately after unwrapping these on Xmas morning, and they haven't stopped all week. They tell me that the sound clarity is great, the range seems to be good (haven't tested to find the max range yet, but they will), and the feel of the case and controls is just right for them. As for color, my wife decided that $1 worth of red reflective tape from a local bargain store would do just fine when wrapped around the lower part of the case. Great product, extremely fast shipping service by this seller and the USPS.

Bought this because I had a big job out in the field that required about 1000 5/16" thread-forming bolts going into 1/2" plate. All I have to say is wow! This thing has power!! It drove those bolts in like I was driving them into styrofoam!! Now I use it all of the time! For the price, being that two batteries a case and charger are included, this little dewalt cannot be beat!! I've had it for about a year and it's just as strong as the day I got it, and being used industrially I think that says alot!!!

This came with 2 XRP battery packs but is ready for the li-ion cells (it has the dual compatible base). It does have an LED for the work area that comes on with the slightest press of the trigger even before the spinning starts. It has a variable speed drive

Dewalt gives you 3 choices in drive size 1/4 , 3/8 (this one ) or 1/2". I chose 3/8 and had to look hard for it because I wanted to use my 3/8 sockets I already owned. I have a dewalt 1/2" impact wrench with 1/2" sockets that runs on 110 vac so this is my "tiny" solution for nuts. As for 1/4" drivers, I'm deferring that size to the small power screwdriver type low torque drivers.

I was surprised how hard it was to find a 3/8" drive my sockets are all 3/8 and this has the nice snap ring holder so it's a great system altogether. It comes in a black carry case with 2 batteries and charger, which I don't need another one. I would have bought the tool alone but at the time I could not find the tool with these features and no batteries, and I needed some new batteries anyhow.

The gearbox is great, as with all dewalt drivers. It's the right drive size for an 18v battery driven system.

This appears to me to be the same BC209 as the more expensive all yellow version. This one is advertised as a maintainer but the directions and box refer to it as a maintainer/charger just like the yellow version. The paperwork is dated 2011 so it is a up to date model. I bought this to maintain my starting battery in my motor home while in storage which is most of the time. The "house" charger in the motor home only maintains the house battery (not the starting battery)so I was going through starting batteries way too fast from lack of use. The charger does exactly what I wanted which is slow charge then maintain the battery level. The included plug adapters are all nice quality. I chose to use the cigarette lighter adapter and it works great. The light indicates when it is charging and when it is charged. The unit runs without making any noise at all. I actually put my ear to the box and could barely hear a slight hum. From 1 inch away you can't hear a thing! Also there is no odor from the unit either. I could not be happier and highly recommend this product. Now when it is time to travel I can just start her up and go!

Stanley BC209 Battery Maintainer

Im currently trying a Stanley BC209 (black case)trickle charger I bought in the past few months & so far I like the flashing LED for charging & a solid light for charged.

The cables are rather long (good or bad depending on use) but does have a detachable (from the batt) plug.

Its very versatile with its 3 outputs & 3 mounting options.

OTHERs I used (BELOW)

The Schumacher & the Sears chargers look the same in every way EXCEPT for the brand sticker.

Ive had both (2) so called different brands to stop working (with-in 5-10years) but still have a 3rd charger that is still working(in-which was my newest).

I had 2 permanently mounted, 1 in my boat, 1 on my lawnmower & the 3rd one I made removable from my jet-ski.

As for the short cables (AC & DC sides) I liked & disliked the lengths depending on the mounting location LoL.

Over time things I noticed was;

1)one half of the plastic had cracked in half on the one on my lawnmower.

The green LED was on & the red LED would just flash & not charge.

2)the green LED stayed on but would not charge (no steady red light) on the one in my boat.

I read in the reviews about someone not loosing fluid level in there battery from charging BUT I noticed (over like 2 winters) I would have to top off the fluid levels back off in the battery's the following spring ("in which was normal").

I ended up using a timer to activate my chargers through the night to try & reduce this fluid level drop but did notice when I dropped power the green LED would stay lit using the batteries power.

Roadpro 12V Hot Pot, 20 oz.

Roadpro 12V Hot Pot, 20 oz.
  • Constructed with durable material
  • Features compact size, safety circuit protection
  • Inner lid closes securely to prevent spilling
  • Outer lid can be used as a cup
  • Powered from vehicle's cigarette lighter socket

I bought this hot pot, along with a 4-pack of Melitta Ready, Set Joe kits, for a road trip during which stopping for coffee, tea and hot chocolate was not an option. My executive summary of the product is that it works well (and, for those wondering about product longevity, still works even after multiple uses) and that it can boil water. We're very happy with it.

Read on to find out why I give the product 4 stars instead of 5.

The product description could do a better job of managing customer expectations. While this hot pot will boil water, it does take 35 minutes or so to bring a full 20 ounces of it to a boil. This isn't due to any defect in the product's design. It has everything to do with the fact that a car's 12-volt, direct current electrical system isn't made for high-wattage appliances. My minivan can supply up to 120W per outlet, i.e., up to 10A at 12VDC, which is not very much, and I assume this is fairly standard. In contrast, conventional hot pots draw 3-5 times as much power from household current, which is why they boil water faster.

Other than that, my few gripes about this hot pot are:

1. It comes with a mounting bracket, but no instructions that might give an inkling on how one might use it to attach the hot pot to anything on the inside of your vehicle. We ended up discarding the bracket and placing the hot pot on our center console, which is flat, as well as several other flat surfaces we created. But this requires somebody to watch the hot pot while the vehicle is in motion.

2. The lid and removable drinking cup sit on top of the pot, but don't snap or screw on. So this hot pot is NOT spillproof. See #1 above, and understand that if it tips over while it's in use, somebody might get hurt.

3. The exterior of the pot gets quite hot to the touch during use (although the handle stays nice and cool), so trying to hold it to prevent it from spilling is a bad idea.

4. The inside of the pot quickly builds up scaling from the minerals left behind when water evaporates. There's no way to reach in there with any kind of a brush to clean that out, and the interior surfaces would probably be damaged by such a brush anyway. I recommend filling the pot with white vinegar and soaking it for an hour or so after every trip to keep the scaling under control.

5. Despite what the product description says, don't even think of making soup, hot chocolate or any other prepared food in this hot pot. You will never be able to get the interior clean again if you do. Stick with instant drink and soup mixes, use a mug or bowl and pour the boiling water from the pot into your mug or bowl in order to make these foods.

6. There's no spout, and it's difficult to pour without spilling, so do be careful.

To help put the 20-ounce capacity into perspective:

1 standard mug holds about 10 ounces of liquid.

A typical travel mug holds 12-14 ounces.

A normal size disposable bowl holds 12 ounces.

A large size disposable bowl holds 20 ounces.

A normal size packet of hot chocolate requires 6 ounces of water and gives you about 8 ounces of hot chocolate.

As annoying as these shortcomings may sound, they're minor compared with the comfort and convenience of being able to have real, high-quality coffee (that's what the Ready, Set, Joe kits were for!), tea, cocoa and soup while traveling in places where service stations are few and far between or just nonexistent.

Buy Roadpro 12V Hot Pot, 20 oz. Now

This unit works far better than the Max Burton version. The hardwired plug prevents the unit from shorting out. A cup of water almost boils in about 5 minutes. Would be nice if it were sealable like a thermos, and helpful if the measurements on the side were in cups as well as milliliters. about 250 milliliters to a cup. And like my Max Burton review, Nothing but water in these things. They say soups work in these things but even the protein in milk will burn on the heating elements. ONLY WATER! so instant add water drinks, oatmeal, ramen noodles, mashed potatoes.

I purchased this to use in an RV while boondocking. I have a solar system installed in my RV, and use a 12 volt system, so I needed something to boil water or to at least get water hot enough to make coffee. Well, this hot pot does the job! It definitely boils water with no problem. It takes a while if you have it to the full mark, but that's not a problem for me, as I'm just happy that it works and I don't have to use my propane stove and can now s ave money by using this 12 volt hot pot on power generated by the sun. Works perfect!

UPDATE: When it worked it worked great, but for some reason it stopped heating, but the light still works. I have since requested a replacement, and will return the defective one. I will update in a few months to let you guys know if the new one is still working.

UPDATE #2: I received the replacement unit, and it works fine, but I truly believe the first one stopped working because I left it on after it reached the boiling point, which I guess you need to unplug it at that point. I changed my 5 star rating to a 3 star because you have to really watch this pot or set a timer to make certain it doesn't overheat.

UPDATE #3: Its been 9 months since I've had the replacement unit, and it is still holding on. I heat it up until the boiling point and turn it off. I use the hot water for instant coffee, French press and the mellita drip cones, and all versions do fine with this Hot Pot. I love the fact I don't have to use my propane to heat up water over a stove. This pot has worked wonders for me, but as I had mentioned before.....just don't leave it plugged up too long and it will work wonders for you too. By the way, I noticed on the side of the hot pot is an "imprinted" messages that actually says to UNPLUG the cord as soon as it starts to boil, so that probably explains the failure of the first one. I will up my rating of this product to 4 stars, but now I just use a timer to keep track of the progress. This could be a 5 star product if it had an internal temperature control and wouldn't overheat.

The Hot Pot heats the water pretty weel, but the cap do not close tight, and the hot water can spill out very easy. I only use once, because I need to make some teas, while working outside and sometimes is difficult to find hot water, but I will never use it again and if I had the possibility to return I could do it, but I don't have the box and the packing list, anyways is not too expensive.

I would like to know, before I bought it, this trouble with the cap.

In preparation for a weeklong roadtrip with my son, I ordered this hotpot, planning to be able to warm up our coffee as we drove. Well there is a light that comes on when you plug in the pot, to let you know you have power, however the unit we received was defective. After about an hour of waiting for heat, I decided to see if it could be fixed. It is very easy to take apart. The leads for the heating element were loosely wrapped around the connectors, but not soldered. Having no tools with me in the car, I tried to reconnect the wires by hand, but could not get a good enough contact for it to heat. Final result: Cold coffee and 12v hotpot put in trash.

Schumacher IP-1850FL Instant Power Jump Starter With 12 Volt Flex Light

Schumacher IP-1850FL Instant Power Jump Starter With 12 Volt Flex Light
  • Convenient built-in charger for automatic charging of internal battery
  • Audible low-battery alarm sounds when battery is at less than 50% charge
  • Heavy-duty copper jaw and metal clamps for solid connections to top and side post batteries
  • 18 amp-hour battery delivers 950 peak amps and 250 crank assist amps
  • Polyethylene case resists fuels and solvents

I bought this Jump starter in Dec. 2007 and to this day is working like a charm! What you must understand about this jumper is that it may or may not assist to start a bad battery (a battery that will no longer take a charge and you must replace). I say may or may not because it depends on the size of what you are jumping. Unfortunately all my cars are eight cylinder vehicles, so I am not that lucky. Until this winter, this jumper has NEVER failed to jump start my vehicles. This winter (2011), I did not drive my vehicle for over a month, with the temps in the low 20s, I tried to jump start my car only to have it fail. Well, this was a first so I took the battery out and brought it in to have it slow charged over night. In the morning, I discovered that the battery would not take a charge and was defective. So for those of you who think that this will jump start all cars, all the time NO but it will do what it was intended to do as long as the battery is not defective. I still feel that the Shummacher IP-1850 is a handy tool to have around. I highly recommend it.

Read the description carefully. I didn't realize it won't start a dead battery only a low battery. Tricky!

It wasn't powerful enough to jump-start my car. I'd been on vacation, hadn't driven the car in a few weeks, came back to find the battery too low to start; the Schumacher did not do the trick. It's hard to say whether this was a fair test. I eventually used, not a jump-starter, but a recharger on the battery, which since then has worked fine. So we'll see how the jump-starter works if there's a next time, but it did not work in the emergency that I had.

I have used this product twice and am very satisfied. I have an older car that has needed a charge to get started and this product started the car on the first try... Plenty of Power

I thought that the name brand would mean something with this product, but that was not the case. This unit lasted one year, before the internal battery wouldn't take a charge.

Aluratek AUCS05F Dual USB Charging Station with Mini Surge

Aluratek AUCS05F Dual USB Charging Station with Mini Surge

  • AUCS05F Dual USB AC Charger for Ipad/Ipad2 Apple iPhone 4 4G 3Gs 3G (AT&T and verizon), iPod Touch (1G 2G 3G 4G), Motorola Droid, HTC Android EVO, Blackberry, Kindle DX, Samsung EPIC, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Samsung Galaxy S and much more

As a college student without a vehicle, everything I need for the day has to fit into my backpack. Before I got this, I had the Belkin Mini Surge Protector Dual USB Charger, which isn't bad, but has it's flaws if you have a large adapter (Like my Laptop charger, a Targus Compact Laptop Charger (AC) for HP, Compaq, Acer, Asus, Gateway, and Fujitsu APA6911US (Piano Black)), it will block another outlet (two if you plug it in the middle); the plug also sticks out the back, taking up that much more room in a bag.

This has three AC outlets and two USB ports, just like the Belkin. But that's where the similarities stop. The plug on this folds up, meaning there's no room lost for it (it's also a very innovative folding design for a three-prong plug). The main outlet is on front, but there's one on each side (I didn't even realize they were their when I bought them!), with the bottom of the plug facing out, so many large adapters still work. With the three outlets spaced this way, you don't have to worry about one blocking the others; you may not be able to plug in three huge transformers at once, but you don't have to worry about a plug always being covered. The USB charging ports (USB outlets?) work well; I haven't used them extensively but they seem to do the job quite nicely.

As far as weight, I've seen no issue. It's got a bit of heft to it, like any good surge protector should, but it's well balanced and shouldn't be enough to pull it out of the outlet.

The Belkin adapter mentioned above definitely has some advantages compared to this one; it can handle higher joules, has a $75,000 equipment warranty, and includes a mini-USB charging cable (although honestly, it's been a couple years now since tech moved over to micro-USB). So, this may not protect if it's plugged into an outlet that's struck by lightning, but honestly you shouldn't have your stuff plugged in then anyhow. It's all about your needs compact and well-spaced or bulkier & warrantied.

I haven't used it for long so I can't say how reliable it is but so far I like it. I have plugged in my and my wife's phones at the same time and it charged both (Samsung Intercept and LG Optimus).

I prefer it to the Belkin Mini Surge Protector Dual USB Charger. The Aluratek lacks the fancy guarantee that Belkin has, has a lower-rated surge protection (612 joules), and is more expensive--hence the 4 stars rather than 5. But the Aluratek is (a) smaller and lighter than the Belkin, (b) has the outlets arranged so all three can be used at once--the Belkin's are together in a line so one large plug will hog more than one outlet--and (c) its outlet prongs fold up completely out of the way, where the Belkin's not only stick out, but are on a base that sticks out from the main case, making the Belkin very awkward to pack in a small space.

I have considered:

* The Belkin Mini 3 outlet with swivel plug.

Steered away from it because of too many complaints about low frequency humming.

Belkin Mini Surge Protector Dual USB Charger

* Belkin Travel Surge with Hidden Swivel Plug.

No USB ports, though the product picture shows a USB hub, not sure what that's about. Two outlets with no USB and protrudes a bit. It's priced right however.

* The Monster Outlets To Go.

They don't have surge protection.

* Tripp Lite TRAVELER3USB Mobile Surge Protector 3 outlets 2 USB Charging Ports

I actually purchased this and decided against it due to it's less than ideal design. The plug is too shallow and narrow. I felt it posed an electrocution risk should I pull it out of the receptacle haphazardly. The materials did not invoke confidence in my opinion. I posted photos of the hallow/narrow plug on the product page.

* Simran SM-60.

110V-250V universal makes this a versatile surge suppressor. However, I don't need 220V support and it's a bit beastly looking. I didn't personally inspect a unit but seems to get good reviews. This was a runner up choice.

You'd expect for what appears to be a simple device that there would be a lear winner from the big names. This hasn't been the case for me. However, the Aluratek AUCS05F fulfilled my requirements. It's well built, simple and considering the boundaries from which they had to operate it's a well thought out package.

Pros:

* Easy pull and grab design so you don't risk electrocuting yourself.

* Good surge protection rating (joules)

* 5V and 1.5A USB. Now I don't know if that's for each USB or combined but its sufficient for my needs. A little note accompanies the packaging notifying the owner that while the Ipad may not register itself as being charged that it is indeed being charged. I assume more slowly and the Ipad charging probably typically operates at 2A not 1.5A.

* Good design. This a matter of personal opinion. To keep it compact it occupies the top outlet of a dual outlet receptacle. Using it on the bottom outlet would block the top outlet of the receptacle. That's acceptable to me knowing it won't block the bottom outlet where you might have a transformer plugged in anyway. That's a considerate design in my opinion. It's not a rotating plug but that also means it stays upright. So if you had to choose between bottom and top it seems reasonable to me that they chose top.

Cons:

Nothing really here, except some may want a rotating plug like the belkin mini. Not necessary in my opinion.

I bought this from a local seller, not Amazon. I immediately plugged it in and plugged in two Apple USB charging cables with an iPhone and iPad plugged in. Within 15-20 minutes, the iOS devices began to flash on and off, like they were being unplugged and plugged back in every second. The top of the Aluratek charger was hot and smelled like burnt electronics. I tested on another outlet with the same results. I tested at my office the next day with two completely different iPads with the same results after 15-20 minutes. Perhaps I just got a lemon but this thing overheats! I plan to return and exchange for another one to see if it was just a bad one because it seems like the perfect charger for what I need. One star because it doesn't work, but if it worked I'd give it 4 or 5.

This product works great. I use it to charge my iphone, ipad, and e-book reader. For my ipad it says not charging but it definitely does charge it. I like the comfort of knowing that my devices are surge protected while charging as we get a lot of electrical storms in the summer months. Highly recommended!
