Go Power! GP-SW1000-12 1000-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter

Go Power! GP-SW1000-12 1000-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter
  • 1000 watt continuous pure sine wave inverter 12 volt input
  • 2000 watt surge
  • 2 GFCI protected outlets to plug into
  • Over voltage, under voltage and overload protections
  • 2 Year warranty

The go power inverter is a mid price true sine wave inverter. It's fuses can't be replaced. They so far have had a high failure rate.

They have replaced them under warranty but it's a slow process.

Do yourself a favor and put some more money with the purchase price and get a Xantrax true sine 1000 inverter.

It's more money but it's a WAY better inverter.

This inverter has worked very well for me. I saw th negative review saying that it needs to have changeable fuses but I have no idea why you would need them. I have accidently overloaded this inverter a few times and the inverter simply goes into an overload protection and then resets. The reason I went with this inverter is because I have a friend with a fleet of 30 vehicles using the same GPSW-1000-12 inverter. They use the inverter for charging cordless tools and running a laptop and I have not heard of a single issue with any of his inverters.

We ordered one of these to replace a twenty-year old Trace 800-watt modified sine wave inverter, mainly so we could use the new LED dimmer bulbs, which won't operate correctly with modified sine wave current. We've had nothing but problems with this Go Power unit, which has already had to be returned twice, and now out of warranty it all of a sudden stopped working for no discernible reason. A skilled electronics technician confirmed that the internal fuses are fine and said that any number of other parts could have failed and recommended that we "cut our losses" and buy something else. Because the company is in Canada, sending the unit back (as we discovered) is more complicated for U.S. customers, due to customs and shipping regulations. Meanwhile our sturdy little Trace inverter just keeps going. WE WISH WE'D TAKEN THE ADVICE OF OTHER CUSTOMER-REVIEWERS and bought the Xantrex Prowatt SW1000 1000W True Sinewave Inverter instead. Xantrex Prowatt SW1000 1000W True Sinewave Inverter I think of what my dad used to say about "false economy" when choosing something because it appears to be cheaper.

2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter and Car Vehicle Charger for the Samsung Galaxy S II - Uses Gomad

2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter and Car Vehicle Charger for the Samsung Galaxy S II - Uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology
  • Full FM frequency spectrum is available and is user selectable in 0.1MHz increments from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz. Advanced Digital PLL sound coding maintains stable and high quality sound.
  • Transmitters emit a powerful FM signal that is the maximum allowed by FCC regulation. Advanced signal isolation provides crystal clear sound quality.
  • Smart technology circuit architecture provides precision voltage and resistor regulation specific to the Samsung Galaxy S II. Protects the internal battery longevity by modulating the charge in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Non-coiled cable design allows for easy routing around your vehicle trim for a more professional look. Durable construction is built to last.
  • Generous LED screen clearly displays current frequency setting. Transmitter frequency continues to be locked in even when vehicle power is cut.

This product has been useful for my Galaxy S2. I get to play my music in my car and charge my phone. I don't have any issues with the sound of the music. However, you cannot charge your phone and listen to your music without a high pitch tone occurring that only gets louder if you try and turn the music up. Although, you can be charging one phone while listening to music from a different phone, which works for my family since we all have Samsung phones that fit to the adapter; there is only an issue when you are trying to charge and listen to music from the same phone. Things I would like to see improved is a station scan for available stations; you have to go through each station individually, which is okay when I'm in my local area but not when I am traveling and don't know the stations. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase.

I drive an old car and I commute a long distance to work so I listen to a LOT of audiobooks on first an iPod and now a galaxy 2S. I have become a connoisseur of transmitters of all sorts. This is not a good one. The audio was terrible, very scratchy and distorted. If I held it a certain way it wasn't too bad but that is completely not workable for a car that bumps down the road. I don't want to have an accident from messing with my transmitter. I've had really cheap $5 models that were more clear. Customer service tried very hard to keep me from returning it but finally relented. That bothered me also. That sort of tactic makes me think their business model is based on selling cheap stuff that people won't bother to return and demand refunds. After I sent this one back I bought the GOgroove FlexSMART X2 ADVANCED Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter which was far superior and worth the extra cost. I bought another for my husband.

  • LED display for FM channels.
  • Support All FM channels.
  • FM Transmitter is powered either by car cigarette adapter (included) or 2 AAA batteries (sold separately).

When it works, it only works okay, at best. Mostly, though, it just craps out quickly no matter how many replacements they send me. Disappointed.

It does transmit a signal, but it is very full of static and a slight change in its location can drastically change the signal quality. I've only used it my car so far so maybe that is part of the reason why the signal is weaker than I would like. You can charge your mp3 player while also playing from it which is nice.

It was delivered fast and in pretty good condition. The screen was a little scratched but not enough to matter. It didn't come with any directions so I'm not sure what exactly all the buttons do (the important ones are easy to figure out), or how to change the temperature to F instead of C lol The transmitter has a usb port on it, but it seems to be just for charging (unless I just have my dock settings wrong on my phone). Over all I'd say this is a great product at an awesome price.

I just got this today and have opened it. I haven't used it in my car yet, but it seems to work fine. The only thing I have an issue with is that there are no directions; it is simple enough to use, but I'm not sure what the memory function, etc., does. I will change this review if a problem arises.

Replacement for WKA12-5F - 12 volt 5 ah battery

Replacement for WKA12-5F - 12 volt 5 ah battery
  • 12v 5 AH
  • Deep cycle
  • Non Spillable Lead Acid AGM

I saw this same battery (different brand) at Batteries Plus for almost twice the price so I ordered it on line and got it fast and fresh. What a nice surprise to me to be able to ship such a heavy item and still beat the local price.

Buy Replacement for WKA12-5F - 12 volt 5 ah battery Now

DID NOT WORK!

This item is lowest grade and unreliable. I have installed it as a backup for an alarm system and

it worked for merely 10 days. Then the alarm system beeped to indicate a low battery status again.

For comparison: My old battery (same specifications, 12V, 5Ah) worked for 5 years.

Should this new item be really exhausted after 10 days without ever being loaded once ?

We never lost AC power in these days, so how can a new battery be exhaused so quickly?

Since I could not believe it, I first blamed the electronics for a false battery alarm and cleared

the battery status several times by disconnecting the AC transformer (according to the advise of experts).

With this correct installation procedure, the battery indication went off, but only for 10 days first

and then only minutes thereafter until the alarm system always indicated a low battery status over and over again

with annoying beeping.

Consequently, the battery voltage must drop below the required

level (~11.7V) after a short time, while the AC is actually powering the whole system.

There is always a tiny minimal load, i.e. for the control unit in the house.

In fact, I used my digital multimeter to check the battery voltage under full load to the alarm system (disconnecting the AC manually).

It dropped below 11V after seconds! This is below the required DC voltage to power the system.

If it is not loaded (AC transfomer powered) it shows 13.6V, but only for a short time and then the voltage

declines until the electronis indicate the low battery status. I even measured a steady voltage drop

with the battery de-installed just connecting the two leads of my Multimeter to it.

There should not be a voltage decline measuable with such a high-ohmic load.

This means the battery dischages even with the tiniest load.

This "new" battery actually exhausts after 10 days of unloaded use.

Wow! This is a welcome to burglars!

At least my alarm system is not malfunctioning.

Meanwhile I have ordered a battery from a different vendor to secure our house.

This seller did not respond to my complaint after a couple of days and I am filing a claim to get a refund.

A total disappointment so far.

The radios by themselves are good, but be careful to read the fine print. The first time I went to use the radios one of them didn't have a full charge on it. No problem, I just used AA batteries. Then we realized we could barely hear each other through the headphones even with the radios turned to max volume. I thought it might be the headphones, but they were very loud when plugged into a friend's radio made by a different company. Midland blamed it on the headphones anyway, but they were not covered under the warranty. So I didn't use the radios again for a few months until we went on another trip and I made sure to place the radio on the charger a day early this time so it would have ample time to charge. Same problem one radio didn't take but half a charge. I contacted Midland on Friday explaining my situation, they got back to me on Wednesday to say there was probably an issue with the battery pack (No duh). I emailed back around 10:30 am and said I figured that much, but how do I correct it. They got back to me on Thursday night saying I needed to buy another battery pack because they are not covered under the warranty either. So what is covered? Turns out not much, not the headphones, not the battery packs, not the charger, not the adapter and not even the antennas. In short if all you need is just the radios and there isn't a problem with them, the radios are OK, but heaven help you if there is a problem with them. It will take forever for someone to tell you that's not covered under the warranty. That large 3 year warranty logo needs to include an even larger asterisk. Radios get 5 stars, everything else including the warranty and service gets 1 star for an average of 3 stars. If I need to buy all new accessories to replace all these defective ones I just bought, maybe I should consider a different brand radio.

All manufacturers exaggerate the range of these little radios. I have used these to hear users on top of a 14,000 foot mountain from 6 miles away, but there were no obstructions between me and them. That's the best distance I've achieved. I had a lower power version of these and they worked well for several years before one of them died. I saved its battery as a spare for these and I can still use the one working with these. Most Midlands use the same rechargeable batteries, although you might carry at least four alkalines along if you expect to be away from the recharger for more than a day. If you're camping out you might want to establish a timetable to use them to extend battery life. They have excellent channel security, either with just two of them or in a group. Hearing other users of the same channel can get very annoying. The numerous privacy choices prevent that almost 100%. Like others, in a city or any enclosed space the range is very limited. The headsets can be handy of you're fishing or hunting. I've used 2-way radios for more than 40 years. The first ones I had were the size and weight of bricks. These are state-of-the-art, light, with good clips and among the best currently available.

Either I've ended up with the only 10 radios Midland has made that were junk, or the other reviews are from Midland employees. My radios just won't hold a charge, stop working after 2 days or start to sound like I'm talking under water.

We purchased 2 pairs of these for a video production. At first I couldn't believe how good these were. The range, albeit not a million miles like they say, was VERY VERY good! Several miles for sure. Very impressive. So we bough 3 more pairs the same week. But before the second set showed up, the first 4 started flaking out. The batteries wouldn't hold a charge. I thought they were being overcharged, but the book says to keep them on the charger when not in use.

It wasn't 2 weeks before the other ones started flaking out on us too.

Out of the 10 radios there are only 1-2 that appear to work without any issue. For the life of me, I don't see how these have gotten such great reviews since we've only had 10-20% reliability at best with the ones we've purchased.

I don't have any recommendations for any other radios since this is our first radio purchase. These have so much potential, but fall very very short! If they would just stay on and hold a charge for longer than 30 minutes, I would be in love with them because the reception/transmission signal is simply incredible (when working)!

In the past I have taken walkie talkies to the State Fair and they were unusable because of all the chattering going on. I brought the Midland GXT1000VP4 radios to the fair and randomly selected a channel and privacy setting. They worked perfectly. Not one other person broadcasted on the same channel (200,000 people in attendance). We could hear each other crystal clear. You either get a crystal clear signal or no signal at all with these radios; there is never any static. They lasted the whole day on one charge and the battery indicator still read full.

The only complaint that I have is when putting them on the charger, it takes a bit of menuvering to get the charge light to go on...and I have had it go off after about 15 minutes before. In that case I reseated the one radio again and the light stayed on for the whole charging period.

I recently purchased these radios after our 2-year old Motorolas were stolen. We use the radios exclusively for RVing (communicating between driver and spotter when maneuvering). The audio on these radios is MUCH better than the previous Motorolas. Menu functions seem to be a bit more intuitive as well.

The only negative I have found is "range", or lack thereof. Midland advertises 36 miles. (Yeah, I know, that's on a straight shot with nothing in between, but how many of us really use them under those conditions!) In the real world we were able to transmit about 1 mile.

I knew this limitation going in, so I wasn't disappointed.

The radios work well for our purposes.

Generac 5792 iX1600 1,600 Watt 99cc 4-Stroke OHV Gas Powered Portable Inverter Generator

Generac 5792 iX1600 1,600 Watt 99cc 4-Stroke OHV Gas Powered Portable Inverter GeneratorWhere to begin... I decided to purchase this product based on the Good Housekeeping seal and after comparing this price level of inverter generator against others. Generac cannot be compared to the Honda line of generators. Honda is the king and if you want the best, plan on spending double or more of what you will pay for this unit.

I ordered my ix1600 and it arrived in the usual lightning fast order from Amazon. The generator came in a very sturdy and attractive box from Generac. The generator was very well packed and nothing looked out of order or beaten up once I looked inside. The unit is not shipped with oil so you must take care in adding the proper amount, which is supplied with your new purchase. I then added gas and even cracked open the owners manual to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

I then executed the sequence to start my new generator, and...nothing. Not even a sputter. I pulled out the spark plug as I thought I may have flooded it. Cleaned and dried everything off and tried it again. Nothing. I pulled the plug again, cleaned and dried it and then removed the air filter. I used a shot of ether right into the carb and still had no luck. All in all I spent well over an hour trying to get it going.

12-01-10 I tried to register the generator online but their website would not accept it as there was some technical error. I called Generac and had a representative enter it for me. I told him my situation and he said I would have to bring the unit to an authorized dealer for the warranty repair. Lucky for me the dealer is close by and they do excellent work. I brought the unit to them and explained the problem. They tried a couple quick things but could not get it to fire. They said they would get back to me.

12-07-10 I called the repair center for an update and they told me they were waiting on a part. They expected the new part within a day or two.

12-10-10 The new ignition part arrived but did not fix the problem. The dealer told me they called Generac and spoke with a technician who said it could be one of two other things. They had to send a different part out to try next.

12-15-10 The second part arrived and again did not work. Finally, Generac told the service repair center it must be the LED control module. The module was not stocked by any distributors and had to come direct from Generac. I took it upon myself to call Generac directly and ask about this situation. The lady I spoke with on the phone told me she would look into the matter and get back to me by the end of the day with a resolution.

12-16-10 I had not received a call back from Generac. I called again and spoke with a different lady who told me she would check with the person from the day before and she would call me back regardless by the end of the day. No return phone call.

12-27-10 The LED module had still not arrived from Generac yet. I was a little upset, to say the least. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. Generac later responded and said due to the holidays, the orders were delayed and they were closed for a few days, which I understood. They advised the part would be there shortly.

01-05-11 The LED module arrived and was installed. Nothing. The service center said they called Generac and spoke to a technician who "Didn't seem to know anything about the unit." I asked what the next step was and the service guy advised me they were trying to get Generac to ship a brand new unit. I called Generac and left a message for a supervisor to return my phone call. Nothing as of today.

01-10-11 Generac replies to the BBB and says they are shipping a brand new unit and hopes I will enjoy years of service with it.

01-11-11 I got a call from a supervisor at Generac who told me the new unit should arrive at the dealer in about 2-3 weeks. While I composed myself in silence, I advised the Generac rep that I had already waited over a month for a working unit. I told him that I only live about 6 hours from their headquarters and they could have it on a delivery truck overnight. He then said he will see what he can do to expidite the process. He also assured me each generator is tested prior to shipping them out. I called him on that because if the first one was tested, they would have realized it didn't work and we would not be in this situation!

01-25-11 The replacement generator finally arrived at the dealer. I got it home and I ran some tests. No 12V power! Unreal. I brought it back to the dealer who had to replace the 12V receptacle (part in stock) and attach some wires that were never connected from Generac! Again, not tested before it left Generac.

FINALLY, I got it home and finished testing. The 12V output is unregulated at 5 amps. This means the 12V will NOT shut down and will overcharge a battery if you don't keep an eye on it. Be careful about leaving it on a battery for too long. The 120V side tested good. My meter showed 120.1V AC at 59.9-60 HZ. I let the unit warm up and then placed an instant heavy load on it from a portable heater. Using my meter, the heater instantly drew 1,526 watts at 12.62 amps. The generator bogged way down and it took about 6 seconds for it to stabilize and put the full power out. While at full output, the line frequency, voltage and amperage all looked stable.

After the second part failed, Generac could have easily supplied a new unit. Even after all of this, they did not even offer to supply the next larger unit or add some accessory as a kind of "Thank you for putting up with the situation." This has been one of the worst purchases I have made in some time. Generac's customer support is virtually non-existent and it's obvious they don't even test their products before shipping them out. I can only imagine how I would have felt had I bought this for a true emergency.

I live on a property that floods during major rain storms, which occur a couple of times each year. When we found out that Hurricane Irene was on the way, we decided to purchase a portable generator. The storm was to hit on Saturday, and when we went to every store in the area on Thursday, everyone was out of generators. On Friday, I decided to take a chance using Amazon for overnight delivery. I found this Generac 5792 generator, and it was one of the few that was available for overnight delivery (others would deliver overnight, but they wouldn't ship it until next week)... the reviews weren't great, but it did get the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, so I risked it and ordered it for Saturday delivery, paying the $3.99 for overnight delivery (love that!).

Amazon didn't disappoint, the generator was on my porch on Saturday morning... we started up the generator and it has been working great! We used it for 12 hours straight through Saturday night and Sunday during the storm to power our sump pump... then used it Sunday to alternately run the refrigerator, garage freezer and television... and decided today to push our luck and power the refrigerator, freezer, computer, and router simultaneously... still, no troubles, its working great!

So, first thanks to Amazon for getting the generator to me in time.. and thanks to my Generac 5792 for saving my house from flooding, all of our food, and our sanity!

Buy Generac 5792 iX1600 1,600 Watt 99cc 4-Stroke OHV Gas Powered Portable Inverter Generator Now

I purchased this unit after doing a quite of bit of research. Price and the 2 year warranty sealed the deal for me. The unit arrived as expected and was very well packed. I put gas and oil in it (followed the owner's manual for starting the unit) and after several pulls, it finally started. I used the generator a couple of times on a week long trip with similar results. The instructions say to pump the cap on top of the unit prior to starting. More often than not, doing this only floods the unit and it then has to be drained of the excess gas. The second trip is where things went south. The unit would only start after over a HUNDRED pulls and would only run on full load with the choke on.

Last month, I contacted Generac and they instructed me to take the unit into one of their authorized repair shops where it has been for over 5 weeks. The shop indicated they are waiting on parts from Generac. I called Generac and got nowhere. Spend the extra money and buy a quality generator because as the saying goes, you truly get what you pay for. I am going to buy a Honda or Yamaha and dump this one once it gets fixed.

Generac 5792 iX1600 1,600 Watt 99cc 4-Stroke OHV Gas Powered Portable Inverter Generator

I purchased this unit to be used as a household backup and for use with a weekend business. First time out the unit only ran for an hour before needing a new spark plug. 10 running hours later the engine 'took off' with the overload lamp illuminated. I quickly shut it down to the smell of smoldering electronics. The unit was only loaded (electrically) to 30% of its rated capacity. I tried in vain to contact Generac for two weeks without success trying to get through their terrible audex system and no replies to several emails to their service department. I finally took it to a local servicing dealer. They have had this unit for over 6 months and have tried to obtain a replacement for me from Generac to no avail. Generac does not stand behind their product, nor do they appreciate customers. For all the trouble with this unit for loss of use / money / time the more expensive Honda would have been a bargain! Note that I'm an industrial engineer and thought that this would have been a good purchase on a price vs. use/need for me..... I was so wrong. I'll never purchase anything from Generac again. Note also that my 8500 watt Troybilt starts on the second pull and never gives me a hiccup. Generac is a scam provider, do not be fooled and learn from my mistake.

I purchased this generator in anticipation of losing power during hurricane Irene. I went online on Thursday afternoon and after reading reviews was very insecure about the purchase but know Generac is a quality brand. I ordered it next day air and with my prime membership I got shipping for $3.99. Friday at 2PM the generator was sitting on my front door step. Saturday I broke it out of the box, followed the easy to follow directions and it started as expected. Power went out Saturday night and I fired up the generator. It worked flawlessly throughout the 18 hours we did not have power. It ran our refrigerator and sump pump along with some other small appliances without skipping a beat. Without a heavy load on it the generator ran for almost 7 hours on a single tank, much better than expected. The eco mode is nice as it moderates engine speed to the amount of power it needs, which was very apparent with the sump pump as it would run much harder during the short periods when the pump was running. I must say I am extremely happy with the purchase and have found no problems with the generator yet. While I hope we don't need to use it again it is certainly a nice security blanket.

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (Black)

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players
  • Universal accessory for all digital audio players compatible with a 3.5-mm mini-jack
  • Turns your FM stereo into an MP3 broadcaster
  • Program up to four station presets; automatically turns on and off
  • Operating range of up to 30 feet; transmits on FM channels 88.1 to 107.9 MHz
  • Mobile power cord connects to car's cigarette lighter port for optional battery-free operation

After reading the reviews I was a bit trepidacious about this item. It seems like a lot of people have difficulty getting satisfactory performance, but I really wanted to be able to use my mp3 player in the car so I grabbed one with the expectation that it might be marginal. Sure enough, out of the box it had pretty poor FM reception in both of my cars. I moved it around in the car and tried various 'blank' stations, but the unit would dropout and could be static-y even when reception was relatively good. Moving it around in the car has a big impact on performance, so the problem is pretty clearly just low transmistter power competing with big city radio interference (I live in the bay area, which has a LOT of radio stations). As an engineer I'm generally OK with working around the limitations of a gadget but I found this product pretty trying in its virgin state.

So I decided to see what sort of 'enhancement' it would take to bring it up to snuff. My first approach was based on the observation that the physical size of the device was too small to get decent antenna performance at FM wavelengths. I guessed that the cable to the mp3 player might be functioning in part as an antenna, so maybe adding an extension cord would improve the transmission efficiency. So I got a 6 foot headphone extension cable (the smallest one at my local store) and used it between the player and the transmitter to stretch out the antenna length. That pretty much solved the problem for me. I spread out the new 'antenna' by tossing the transmitter in the back seat, put the player next to me in front and it works much better and I'm happy with it now. It works well in both cars and the quality is more than good enough for my audiobooks and pop music. I use rechargeable batteries in the unit to avoid having to plug it into the lighter socket, and I generally just disconnect the player and leave the transmitter in the car it turns itself off automatically 60 seconds after I disconnect the player.

I had been looking for a good FM Tuner to use with my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. I had heard good reviews about this product so I picked it up. Now, I wasn't expecting crystal clear CD-quality sound, but I was expecting something listenable, which explains my dissatisfaction with this product.

The product is easy enough to use. You plug the Belkin into the headphone or line out jack of your player, then find a poor quality radio station, tune your Belkin to it, and hit play. The Belkin can run on 2 AAA batteries or off your car's cigarette lighter. My first problem with it, is that the cigarette lighter adapter would not fit securely into the Belkin. It fell out at the slightest touch, as the hole in the Belkin was just too big. I either had to tape it in their, or had to run off the batteries, which run down surprisingly quick.

My next problem, is with the general size of the device. The cord that connects the Belkin to your audio player is about 3 inches long, which means you have to keep it right next to the player. You can't attach it to your dashboard or anything like that. It made it very awkward to change the song or skip through something on the player because I had this tuner hanging down from it.

My final, and biggest problem with the player is the poor reception. I tried it with three different vehicles, and two different MP3 players. I tried every single radio station I could find. I tried every tip I found on the Internet to get good quality. I adjusted the volume on the player and in the car. I turned on the radio first, and then the player, and vice versa. I just couldn't get a decent sound from it. It would sound okay for a few seconds, and then static.

Something to note, is that the poorest quality station won't always give you the best sound. I sometimes found that I received the best sound from a station that I could somewhat get a broadcast from, even though the manual tells you to look for the weakest stations. The other problem is that if you're in your car, the signal strength of the radio stations change depending on where you are, so the sound quality is going to always vary. I also found that I could only get real good quality when I held the mp3 player and Belkin in my lap, and held onto it. As soon as I let go, I get a little bit of static. The range for this thing in a car is realistically about 2 feet.

One thing I did get a good reception with was with home stereos, where the quality was decent enough to use. But this was pretty pointless for me because I can simply plug in my mp3 player directly into the stereo anyway.

Bottom line, if you can live with sub par quality and don't mind the awkwardness of the Tuner, this is probably the best tuner you will find out there today. Unfortunately, that doesn't account for much until technology provides for better reception in the future.

I picked the Belkin Tunecast II up a few weeks ago before driving cross country from Brooklyn to Wisconsin (about a 14 hour car ride). I had recently bought a Rio Karma mp3 player and wanted to use it on the journey. Having just got back from my trip, I couldn't be happier with how the Belkin performed. I was driving a 1994 Saturn SL2 with a Sony Xplod CD player and placed the Rio/Belkin devices on the passenger seat where they would be in easy reach if I had to change the radio frequency. Surprisingly, the Belkin was tuned to 88.3 without incident for my entire journey through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin (including several major cities such as New York, Newark, Chicago and Milwaukee). I was expecting a lower sound quality filled with the occasional burst of static, but that was not the case. My entire car ride was static free and the music could only have sounded better if I had brought along my CD collection. Needless to say, I'm very happy with this purchase and recommend the Belkin Tunecast II to anyone considering an FM transmitter for similar purposes. A word of caution: as another reviewer pointed out, different cars may have different antennae/shielding issues so you should probably test this product in your car before buying if possible.

This unit requires two things to work well.

(i) The unit's internal Rohm FM transmitter IC needs a good level of audio signal to drive the stereo encoder, otherwise you will hear a lot of channel noise in your radio speakers.

If your MP3 player does not play very loud in headphones then you will be disappointed. An iRiver 790 MP3 player is an example of a loud unit and the TuneCast 2 then produces a pretty good noise free stereo signal.

(ii)The only way to get a good hiss free signal in your car radio is to cut the internal wire coming out of the unit's internal ANT connection, and then extend it with 27" of external flexible wire. The signal is still well below FCC limits for unlicensed transmitters, and now will work well with car rear window antennas and also provide a good stereo signal through at least one house wall.

The digital Phase Lock Loop is rock steady and the ability to set to any frequency is absolutely essential in a busy metro area. The ability to remember any four frequencies is good for long commutes.

i've never written a review of any of the products i've bought from amazon before, but i felt pretty compelled to write one about this.

if you consider the price and utility tradeoffs for this transmitter, its of good value. of course you can't expect to get cd quality transmission from this, but it works pretty well for the most part. the only bad thing i've found so far is that even on stations where i get the clearest signals, there is some static in the background. this static is only audible when a song is at a quiet part or when there is no song playing so it isn't as bad as you may think. other than that, the sound quality actually kind of surprised me. btw, i live in los angeles where almost every station has some sort of signal, which is also why i am surprised that the product works as well as it does.

overall, i am pleased with my purchase and although i haven't tried any other fm transmitters out there, i would recommend others to buy this if you can't use a cassette adapter.

Kiwi Choice U-Powered Solar and USB Portable Charger - Retail Packaging - White

Kiwi Choice U-Powered Solar and USB Portable Charger - Retail Packaging - WhiteLightweight, easy to use...what more can you ask for? This is my first solar charger, so I was a bit hesitant on which one to order. I finally went with this one because it said that it would also charge my laptop. I don't know if it will do that (next item to try), but it definitely charges my Walkman and Kindle. My only (very minor) gripe is that the instructions seem to have been cut off or they forgot to complete their information. The booklet tells you that there are 4 ways to charge the charger. 1: solar power (no kidding! lol) 2. USB (ok) and then...nada. Obviously, plugging it in is another choice, but there aren't any adaptors for that. So, so I used my Amazon Kindle cord w/adaptor (to change the USB to one for an electrical outlet) and then attached the appropriate plug for the device. The booklet said it would take around 4.5 hours to charge, but it was much, much faster than that.

Update: the charger does NOT have enough power for my laptop, but I don't want to downgrade the rating for that. It works well for the smaller items, so next time I'll know to check the actual rating on power provided and what's needed for a particular item(sry, but I don't know the tech terms). I would definitely buy this item again.

I really liked the concept of this solar charger, but the product itself leaves a lot to be desired.

Pros: convenient three panel design; not much bigger than a cell phone; the built-in flashlight is a bonus

Cons: Completely warped in low heat sun; takes at least five days to fully charge; full charge is only enough to charge my phone about 5%

I left it outside on a picnic table in full sun (springtime in Ohio, around 70 degrees) and by the third day, the plastic on the charger was so warped that it wouldn't close properly. When closed, there is almost a full inch gap at the top between the first and second panels. I wasn't too worried about it at that point because it wouldn't effect the functionality of it.

On the fifth day, when all four blue lights were finally lit up, I used the provided adapters to plug in my Evo 4G. Fifteen minutes later, none of the four lights on the Kiwi would light (the charge was completely gone), and my phone hadn't charged enough to even be noticeable.

I hoped that it was because it was the first use, so I tried again, but three days later, in mostly full sun, only one of the blue lights is lit, and the warped plastic is getting much worse.

I expected much more than a 5% charge for my phone from five days worth of sun, and I expected a product made to gather sunlight would be able to withstand the springtime mid-western sun.

At best, it's just a warped, expensive flashlight. I guess I'll just have to try another brand, and I recommend you do the same.

I purchased this unit Via Groupon and I have been calling and emailing them for over a week now. They NEVER return and voicemails (forget getting a person on the line) and I have had one email returned out of 5 and still on response.

Worthless product with no support! Spend your money anywhere else...

September 2012 Update I have made over 20 calls to their support number and tried numerous emails and even had friends call the support number trying to get a response and they have NEVER returned one call or email. This must be some kind of fake company out of someone's basement. The website is registered to the below contact, and again, NEVER purchase anything form this site. I wasted 50.00 and have no recourse.....

A friend and I both purchased one of these. Mine never worked it won't charge with a cord or in the sun I have called customer service since its covered for a year but I am always forced to leave a message and no one calls me back. My friend's worked for a little while until the solar panel and white plastic casing melted in the sun. You are supposed to leave it in the sun in order for it to charge. How is it that the plastic is that cheap? My friend's also didn't hold a charge for as long as the description states it needed constant charging. Very dissatisfied with this item.

This is my second Kiwi charger. I lost my first one when I placed it on my parked car during a folk festival, then forgot it when I drove off! I missed it so much I bought this second one. It works very well. I leave it in my car which I usually park facing South. I charge my iPhone mostly but can also use it for the iPad. It's very portable and a good conversation starter. I have a Prius and my friends ask if that's what charges the car! Using the device to recharge small electronics just feels like the right thing to do.

HQRP Pair MC3 T-branch Solar Panel Connector M/M/F & F/F/M (1F2M & 1M2F) for PV / Photovoltaic Syste

HQRP Pair MC3 T-branch Solar Panel Connector M/M/F & F/F/M for PV / Photovoltaic System plus HQRP CoasterThese plugs are made with a good quality plastic casing and aluminum contacts. Seams to be constructed pretty good. Great for wiring up solar modules in parallel. Casing snaps together and hold pretty good. A little difficult to get apart but after you get your wire in there it's there. Won't pull apart very easily.

I have a small installation at a home in Mexico, just 2 panels. I hated to twist the cables together so I bought a few of these. They fit very tightly, so snug that I could barely disconnect without a few hard full force tugs and wiggles, so no water is going to be getting inside there.

I installed a pair of solar panels on my roof that came with the "old style" MC3 connectors. I configure my panels as 12 VDC sources, so I needed to connect these panels in parallel. Using these HQRP T-branch connectors, I was able to do this and consequently use just one line pair from these two panels on my roof to the solar charge controller. These are high quality connectors and work well.

Xtreme Charge 12 - volt Battery Charger

Xtreme Charge 12 - volt Battery ChargerThe Xtreme Charge 12 volt Battery Charger is the best charger I have owned and I have had many over the past 45 years! I have owned this charger for over two (2) years and it works flawlessly. I charge batteries for my truck, car, boat, motorcycle, two (2) riding lawnmowers and deep cycle batteries for my RV. This charger has LED indicator lights giving you current charging status of your battery. As it charges... the charger sends pulse waves through the battery that cleans the plates in the battery. The cleaning of the plates adds longevity to the battery. I have had very expensive battery chargers that were suppose to shut off when the battery was fully charged. I had a battery that was a few years old... the plates were slightly corroded and the battery would not completely charge. So, my new charger (now old)kept charging until the battery got so hot it warped the plates inside the battery and started melting the top of the battery! That is when I began to shop for another charger and found the Extreme Battery Charger. I can trust this charger to be left on for days and even weeks without getting the battery too hot and the pulse system has been great for extending the life of my batteries!

I bought this charger after my old (already past 5 yrs warrenty) battery died and could not be jumped. A friend of nine, Jack, told me he had used this charger for many years and increased the battery life by several times. I was not sure about that at first. So I ordered this this charger from Amazon while also bought a new battery as a back-up. I used this charger to charge the dead battery, but could not get over 50% for the 1st 24 hrs. I thought there was no hope but still let the charger on the battery for 2 more days. Suddenly, I got 100% charged! I then used the reactived battery for a while, no issues at all, so I returned the new battery, which saved me about $100. When I rechargeed the battery a few months later, it quickly got to 100% from about 75% (in a few hrs), similar to a relatively new battery, which also needs about a couple of hrs to get to 100% from normally about 75%.

This charger is the most effective I have ever used in its ability to recover sulfated batteries. It is slow but does not damage the battery. The charger uses different methods to charge and is very effective and very simple to operate. I am very pleased to have this technology to use as it will save me from spending a lot on new batteries as replacement intervals will be greatly increased. Very cool stuff when used within its limits.

Unit is run on a pulse basis. It automatically keeps your battery at the level it needs to function correctly when not in use. Mainly keeping the plates for getting coated and breaking down. I own a number of them and they have done a great job in keeping my batteries in shape over a number of winters of being idle.

This device does what it is supposed to do, i.e. charge two rechargeable AA batteries. That's the "pros". The "cons" are: 1) it takes about an hour to complete its work. 2) The batteries are difficult to remove from the charger. The instructions say don't use a sharp object to remove them but I have to use a small screw driver to extract them. 3) There is no cord. The device itself plugs directly into the wall outlet. That's not terrible, but having a cord would be nice.

This charger will save a lot of batteries. The charger works great and the customer service provided by Garmin has been amazing. (I lost one of the plugs and Garmin sent me a new part for FREE.) I still carry a set of alkaline batteries just in case the rechargeable ones die.

The supplied rechargeable batteries will not charge. They actually never charged, even out of the box. I am not sure if it is the charger or the batteries. But I messed with it long enough that now it is outside of the return window. I just couldn't believe something from Garmin, and Amazon, would not work out of the box and I thought I was doing something wrong.
