BatteryMINDer 12 Volt OnBoard Battery Restorer/Conditioner - Model# OBD-12

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt OnBoard Battery Restorer/Conditioner - Model# OBD-12
  • Conditions and desulphates batteries therefore guarantees significant increase in both your battery's life and performance
  • can be used only for 12-V battery systems.
  • Installation is a simple two wire hook-up.
  • Auxiliary charger connector allows easy connection to installed batteries when connecting a stand-by or maintenance type charger, if needed.
  • A single unit can serve up to a six battery system.
  • No external power source is needed.
  • This item does not charge the battery. A separate charger is required to maintain or charge your battery

The batteryMINDer on board battery conditioner is fantastic. Once installed just forget it and it will do the rest. Works by pulsing frequency waves to break up sulfur crystals on the lead plates, much like a wine glass pulsed with the right frequency will break.

I have been using BatteryMINDer products for years. I have a trickle charger on my generator battery and a solar BatteryMINDer on my boat battery. Don't be fooled by imitators' products (I have) they don't work the same. Save your money buy the right product the first time.

...saves a pound of cure. Or in this case early replacement of very expensive sealed batteries. This device substitutes for "equalization" in wet batteries which cannot really occur in a sealed battery.

Note to all sealed batteries have advantages BUT require initial and ongoing maintenance to last a decent period. If you don't the battery will fail in 24 to 48 months. If you do it can last over 60 months and longer. Do not let the battery sit idle. Do keep the battery fully charged at all times.

Another big issue with sealed you cannot insert a hydrometer which is the ONLY accurate measure of a battery state of charge and capacity. (duh its sealed...) So folks use a volt meter to measure "state of charge" BUT this is often inaccurate and misleading for a variety of reasons (see google and research it if you care to or just get traditional batteries)

I have two of these units, theye seem to be working like theye should it might take 4 or 5 years before i know if theye realy work. They where shipped fast it was a very easy transaction.

I had a battery maintainer/conditioner from that Harbor tool (HFT) store. That did not rejuvenate my car battery.

I bought this from Amazon and hooked it up per the instructions. The lights came on showing that it was working at desulfanating the battery. I let it do its thing for several days and then the device showed it was finished and the battery was charged. I tried the battery in my car later and the battery acted like new. The car fired right up whereas it wouldn't even take a jump before. It works! And it saved me on the first try from buying a new battery at almost twice the cost of this device!

As others have said, don't waste your time on junk that doesn't work. My friend has one of these and recommended it and now I can see why. It works! Plain and simple. And the meter can indicate your charge and is also a handy feature.

If you deal with lead acid batteries and want a simple way to make them last, get one of these devices. You'll be glad you did.

Bolse® 150 Watt 12v DC to 110v AC Power Inverter with Dual USB and AC Port Charger

Bolse® 150 Watt 12v DC to 110v AC Power Inverter with Dual USB and AC Port Charger
  • 150-Watt inverter for converting 12-volt DC power from a vehicle battery to 110-volt AC power
  • Dual USB output DC 5V, 1000ma and dual AC output 110v. Compatible with notebook, digital camera, iPhone, iPod, cell phones, PSP, DVD player & etc.

  • Accessory plug adjusts 90-Degree for convenient placement, plugs into car cigarette lighter
  • For DC12V and Car ONLY, not applied for DC24V and airplane use!

I'm kind of a geek about inverters. I have some unique power requirements in my RV (trailer), so I've had to research these things quite a bit. One of the things that I learned is that inverters that plug into your 12v outlet (cigarette lighter adapter) are notoriously cheesy. There's a fundamental flaw in their design, because the capacity of the 12v outlet is limited and creates a bottleneck. I've seen plenty of inverters claim to provide 150w service, but they can't deliver that output because the 12v outlet can't handle the load.

There are two possible outcomes when the 12v outlet is overloaded: either you blow a fuse in your vehicle's fuse panel (which is a drag and costs you the price of a replacement fuse, but it's not the end of the world) or you burn up the wiring somewhere between the back of the 12v outlet and your car battery, which is really a disaster. It's one thing to fry the wiring on an RV where you can crawl underneath and isolate it and repair it, but it's a completely different animal when you burn up the wiring somewhere in the dash or under the hood of your Lexus. That can get pretty pricey to repair.

Long story short, overloading your 12v outlet is no joke. You really don't want to do it.

So what about this inverter? Well personally, I wouldn't want to try running a load over 130w in a 12v outlet. I just don't think it's worth the risk. So how do you know how much of a draw your devices will use? Try something like P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor to measure the peak load and sustained load of the device. Then you'll know whether you're safe or not.

So what about this inverter? Can it handle the load? Frankly, I'm not willing to test it over 130w myself. I wouldn't use any inverter that large without connecting directly to my battery instead of going through the 12v outlet.

But this inverter does have one really nice feature. It has a replaceable 25 amp fuse. Hopefully this fuse will blow before the inverter would allow your 12v outlet to fry. Hopefully. If you blow this fuse, you can replace it with a 25a fuse from a kit like this one.

One other thing to be aware of with inverters like these, at a high rating like this, you need to expect some noise from the inverter. This one is no louder or quieter than any other inverter of this capacity that I've used.

Don't get me wrong. Even though I don't necessarily trust the claim that it puts out 150w of power, it's still a very sturdy inverter for a 12v type. It has two grounded outlets and two USB outlets. It also has a nice flexible neck in case your 12v outlet is hard to reach.

I was provided this item for review.

Buy Bolse® 150 Watt 12v DC to 110v AC Power Inverter with Dual USB and AC Port Charger Now

This inverter provides both 110v AC power and USB DC power to portable electronic devices via your vehicle's 12v DC power outlet. It's very useful for long trips with multiple riders that tend to rapidly fill up the available DC outlets.

Pros:

-Two AC outlets

-Two USB outlets

-Obvious "ready" light

-Articulated joint between outlet bank and plug

-Claimed overload, overhead, low voltage and overvoltage protection (during testing, I never encountered any of these, so can't address their utility).

Cons (these are mostly unavoidable, but you should consider them anyway):

-The outlet bank is rather bulky: it may not have easy access to the DC plug in some vehicles.

-A cooling fan runs when the unit is operating. Road noise will always mask this, but I would not recommend using this device with your engine off: the power needed to run that fan is a candidate for rapid battery drain.

This inverter is now permanently stored in my car, ready to satisfy the power demands of passengers (especially the ones in the back seat!).

Note: This item was provided at no cost for review purposes.

How many times have you left the house or office, picked something up and realized it wasn't charged. Now you can take it all with you without worry. This nifty device will convert your household plugs into car plugs. We have a number of devices that don't have car chargers (camcorders, handheld gaming systems) so they either charge at home or we are out of luck. But now we can use our home AC plugs for the car.

I wouldn't recommend bringing your hair dryer out to the car to test out the load capacity but you can run other low wattage devices from this (up to 150 watts). Just in case, it does have short circuit, overload, overheat, low voltage and overvoltage protections to keep your products and your car safe.

It also has 2 USB ports so you can bring additional cables for things that only charge through your computer or a USB-AC wall plug.

It is not a small plug as you can imagine since it has two full AC ports and 2 USB ports but you can angle the device to a number of different positions.

The perfect product for when you feel limited by vehicle travel.

I was provided a unit for testing and review.

Designed with two regular wall plugs and two USB plugs, this large power inverter will provide all power outlets you need for your next road trip. Charge your cell phones, MP3 players, iphone/iPod, handheld gaming devices, tablets and everything else you can think of that you bring along in the car, all at once. If it has a wall plug or a USB plug, you can charge it.

The DC adapter plug that goes into your cars cigarette lighter can be adjusted up and down, so you can angle it in several directions to best fit your needs. There is a green light on the top that lights up when it's plugged in to let you know it's receiving power, and the fuse on the top is replaceable in case of a power overload. This inverter offers both low voltage and overload of voltage protection and overheating protection. It will also protect your devices from a short circuit. Keep this in your glove compartment and you'll always have enough outlets to charge everyone's devices at the same time. Perfect when you have kids who drain the batteries on their Nintendo DS's, PSP's, iPods and such, and need to charge everyone's electronics at the same time. Great for traveling and a must have for family road trips!

I upgraded from an iPhone 3GS to the 5 recently. Like most people, I was pretty disgusted that Apple neglected to include an adapter for the new pin design, and I vowed that I would avoid purchasing it all costs. So far, I've managed to hold out, but the one place that that has been a problem is in my car. My car has an integrated iPod/iPhone charger/player, but it's the old pin design. Then this handy Bolse device comes along and voila! I just plug it into my cigarette adapter, and I'm able to plug in my iPhone 5 and charge it. It's got a few drawbacks, the primary one being its size. It's quite bulky, and it may not fit in all automobiles. It does fit in mine, but obviously for some people, this could be a deal-breaker. It also runs rather loudly, and it gets quite hot. I assume that's the normal operation, but I unplug it when it's not in use.

Note I received a sample of this product for review.

Scosche motorMOUTH Plug and Play Bluetooth Handsfree and Streaming Audio Car Kit

Scosche motorMOUTH Plug and Play Bluetooth Handsfree and Streaming Audio Car KitI have a Droid X and I was getting tired of plugging my audio jack cable into the phone and the receiver on a daily basis. I bought this so I can just plug it into my head unit, then stream audio over the bluetooth connection. This part works well and haven't had any issues with it.

The microphone thing, eh, not so good. When talking on it, I hear that people tell me that it sounds like I'm going through a wind tunnel. Maybe it's where the microphone is positioned, or maybe it's just the product. I thought the noise cancelling part of this device (dsp?) would fix the wind noises. Guess not.

The other thing is that it is true that you have to charge this before you use it. I have it wired into my car so that it's constantly charging. I always have it plugged in, so I never have to worry about it. Before being able to use it, I have to turn it on by hitting the button. My complaint here is that it would be nice to have it automatically turn on when it receives power. Then, have it automatically turn off when the power source is removed.

I originally bought it to stream audio to the head unit over bluetooth. Does it do it? Yes, and it does it well. The other things, I'm not so sure about, but it's not a huge issue for me.

I bought this to replace the usual in-car cable which I was using to pipe podcats, audiobooks and music from my Iphone to the dash stereo through the latter's AUX input. I didn't really care about the calls aspect, since I never make or answer calls while I'm driving ("Dude, I'm busy *driving*, OK? If it's that important, leave a frakkin' message!")

This unit *should* work for my purpose: It pairs easily, stays paired, and streams consistently, with no fuzz or breakups. The audio *quality* is comparable to the cable. Only problem: I have to crank up the in-dash unit's volume setting to the max just to hear the stream at a normal volume! I don't have anything like this problem with the cable. Using the cable, I can put the volume at 25 and listen comfortably; with the motorMouth, I have to pin it at 50 (that's the top end on my dash unit) to hear it at the same general level as the cable. And it's not like I'm testing the Bluetooth range; the Iphone is in a (Schosche!) plastic dash mount not 4 inches above the AUX input jack. Unless there's some kind of wild impedance mismatch between the mMouth and my AUX jack, I have no idea why the audio signal coming from the mMouth is attenuated so badly I have to jack up the volume so far. This is a total deal killer for me, since I don't dare use it; if I forget to crank it back down to a regular level before switching to the dash unit's FM tuner or a CD, I practically get blasted out of the car! $52.99 wasted; I'm back on the cable.

This was a gift I received, and i was stoked abut hooking it up, since my primary use for it would to streaming my tunes from my cell phone. Hook up was simple for me, then came the testing of the motormouth II. Pairing it with my cell phone was seamless, no issues, once paired it remained paired. Streaming music pretty simple, worked lovely. Using the motormouth II to make and received phone calls was pretty good, not bad. Haven't got any complaints about noise while driving and talking.

Now for the cons, the battery charge doesn't seem to last very long at all, on light use, the USB style charger cable, is way to short, making placement options limited. The cable itself seems a bit cheap for a device price @ $70+.

All in all, this handy little device can solved some of your Bluetooth, music woes. On a chart from 1 5, five being the highest I would give this device a 4 star rating. Why?

1. Design/size could be better

2. Materials could be better for the price

3. Battery life could be much better

Read Best Reviews of Scosche motorMOUTH Plug and Play Bluetooth Handsfree and Streaming Audio Car Kit Here

I was initially happy with my Motormouth II, but I soon found it was fragile. Simply plugging it in caused the plastic case to split apart. A little superglue fixed it, but weeks later, it ceased taking a charge through the supplied cable. A quick call to Scosche later, they sent a replacement cable free of charge. But THEN, the Motormouth would randomly drop the Bluetooth connection while in use. When you have to take your hands off the wheel and your eyes off the road to re-establish the connection with your phone, it kinda defeats the purpose of Bluetooth, doesn't it? To complicate things, the little red and blue lights that are supposed to tell you what it's up to are invisible in daylight, making it that much more frustrating to try to diagnose why it wasn't working half the time. Was the battery dead, or did it just have a random failure?

On the plus side, when it worked, it worked well, with good call sound quality and seamless switching from streaming audio to phone calls. However, some basic weaknesses with this setup are that you need to turn it on when you get in the car and turn it off when you get out (or the battery will die more quickly). Also, it will work only when your stereo is in the AUX input mode. If you want to listen to FM radio and automatically receive a Bluetooth call, no dice. In other words, if you're looking for the hands-off and forget-about-it convenience of a factory-installed Bluetooth system, you'll have to spend a bit more for a system that interfaces directly with your car's stereo and not just with the input jack.

Want Scosche motorMOUTH Plug and Play Bluetooth Handsfree and Streaming Audio Car Kit Discount?

It depends on what your intended use for this product is. I have a 2008 Chevy Avalanche LTZ with an AUX input jack. So this device is perfect as it is small, lightweight and out of sight, all while streaming my audio from my phone to my Bose sound system. Audio quality is awesome. I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality, but was pleasently surprised.

If you want this for a bluetooth calling adapter to patch phone calls into your stereo, you will be greatly disappointed. I can hear my callers perfectly, but have not received great feedback from those I have called. I get comments like "huh? What? Say that again? I can hear you, but can't make out what you are saying? Are you in a tunnel? etc etc. I have tried multiple calls, while driving, parked, parked with engine off.... Call quality is horrible!!

Pros: Bluetooth audio streaming, lightweight, easy to connect.

Cons: Call quality, battery life

Schumacher SP3 Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer

Schumacher SP3 Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer
  • For use with 6 and 12 Volts batteries
  • Scrolling digital messaging displays step by step instructions to properly charge your battery
  • Auto voltage detection automatically detects 6 or 12 Volts batteries
  • Hook attachment allows the unit to hang outside the work area for safety and convenience
  • It includes 50 ampere quick connect clamps, 24 inch fused ring leads harness with weather cap, 12 Volts DC adapter and manual

I purchased one of these to charge some sealed lead acid batteries, and it works like a champ. Hook it up to the battery, plug it in and let it do its thing.

That being said, there are a couple of quirks the user should be aware of. The % capacity display is not at all accurate. It will typically state that a battery is 95% full, then increase slowly until saying it is fully charged, and on maintaining. I used this with several 9Ah 12V batteries, and some 8.5Ah 6V batteries. All of these were tested before & after with a BK Precision 601 professional battery analyzer. The readings never agreed, but that is not necessarily a problem.

BK Precision 601 Battery Capacity Analyzer

While the $400+ BK 601 is a great tool, it is not necessary to know the precise values of capacity, load and no-load voltage or internal resistance (unless you want to know these things of course!) If you are maintaining SLA batteries of a smaller capacity, say anywhere from 3 to 20Ah or so, just hook up the Schumacher and ignore the initial reading. If it says 95%, the capacity might be 80% or might be 45% (I saw readings higher and lower on the 601) No matter. Let the Schumacher charge until it says 'Fully Charged' or 'battery maintaining'. But do not stop charging just yet. At that point, the actual capacity might only be at 95 or 97% (as verified by the 601). Let it go another 15 minutes or half an hour. Then go ahead and disconnect. By that time, nearly all the batteries I tested were at the full 100% according to the BK 601.

If the battery is too far gone, the Schumacher will let you know. There are a few batteries here and there that will accept a charge from the Schumacher, but may not perform as well as new batteries. Outside of a professional analyzer, there is not much you can do about them. They will work, but may only have 90% or so of the charge. The Schumacher does as best as it can with them.

It also oworked well at auto-detecting 6V batteries. Very simple to use, and for easy operation and good performance, and a great price, I give it 5 stars. Just be aware of its limitations.

After receiving this gadget, I realize that I probably could have used the smaller SP2 unit, but now that I've had it a few weeks, I'm quite pleased with how it works.

It is pretty large, but still only about a quarter the sise of a car charger. It's roughly the size of a brick, and has a big LED readout that tells you what it's doing readable from a good distance.

So far, I've only used the alligator clips for my motorcycle battery, but this also comes with a connector that you can attach permanently to the battery and has a simple connector to the charger cord. That means you don't have to remove the seat to hook up the charger. That seems pretty useful, and if I ever decide to unhook my battery and risk losing all the settings on my stereo, I'll install it.

I think something like this is essential in places that have a proper winter that keeps you from riding for weeks at a time.

This is a great gadget and a must have for any garage mechanic. It takes the guess work out of your battery's maint. Very easy to use. Ive only had it a few days and its already saved me time. I highly reccomend it. Well worth the money!!!

Want Schumacher SP3 Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer Discount?

I bought this battery "extender" to maintain the battery in my two-year-old, rarely-driven garage queen. When I first attached the unit, it said it was analyzing the battery, then reported that it was 5% charged, and proceeded to begin charging. The car had been sitting for three weeks, so I was not alarmed at the battery's condition. It has now been 48 hours, and display says the battery is at 91% charge, the same thing it said twelve hours ago. So either my like-new battery can no longer take a full charge, or this unit is flawed in some way.

Other than this odd behavior, I like the SP3. It tells you what it's doing, takes up little space, and comes with a few different connection options.

One last thing. The manual that comes in the box is brief and omits information--like the connection options. I found a better copy online, but that should not be necessary.

Here is an update: after four days of charging (!), the unit finally switched over to "Maintaining", so all seems well.

Great charger for the price you can't find a better one. I highly recommend. It analyzes , charges and maintains your battery. Great charger for long time storage of your battery.

Power Bright PW6000-12 Power Inverter 6000 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC

Power Bright PW6000-12 Power Inverter 6000 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt ACFrom Lowe's (same author) This inverter has so far (about three weeks of use) proven reliable and easy to use. The question is does the average person need a "6000" watt inverter. From what I've learned, it depends mainly on what your appliance starting loads require, not the operating load. If you're going to run a modern refrigerator or microwave oven I've found the 3000 watt starts and runs ok. But I wouldn't recommend it for the big microwave ovens--the 3000 watt unit just can't keep up with the demand. A small airconditioner that has a 1000 watt operating consumption may well require 4000-5000 watts over 5-10 seconds to start its compressor. The 3000 watt inverter has been known to kick off line after only a couple of seconds at 4500 watts and therefore won't start the airconditioner. This 6000 watt inverter does well here with plenty of operating juice to keep stuff running, but puts a real drain on the batteries.

Also worth noting is this 6000 watt inverter seems to maintain more voltage stability--I've run it at around 3000 watts and the its output voltage never dropped below 118 VAC and its frequency remained steady at 59-60 cycles per second.

Botom line is that to-date, I'm very satisfied with the 6000 watt inverter's performance and reliability

First I bought a small inverted thinking it will be enough to power up a big air condition and it failed. Then, I bought this humongous powerful inverter and at first it also failed. Their customer service is GREAT explain the problem. I was connecting the inverter with gauge 4 cables and it was powering up most stuff, but when it came to the 10,000 BTU air condition it failed. Then, they told me to change does weak gauge 4 cables and get gauge 0. After, that it was a beauty. This is hooked up with 2 106AH marine battery for now which I am going to put 10 in total. They are being charge by solar panels for now I only have 360 watts with gauge 4 wires, later I will put for 1000 watts of solar panels.

Quick update, the A/C actually sucks about 4,600 watts for a good 10 seconds before it drops down to regular watt at 890 watts. Sense this thing actually is 6,000 watts and 12,000 peak there is no problem. With does 2 106AH marine battery it last just over 1 hour at night and 1h20min at night.

The inverter was exactly what I needed and it works very wells.. Has enough power to handle every thing we have plugged in to it, fridge, microwave, coffee pot and still has plenty of power, but is very heavy.. weighs 35 pounds..next time I will request different boxes for shipping.. The remote was damaged when the inverter moved around inside the box, smashed to into several pieces, but I called and it was taken care of immediately.. So I am a very happy customer.

We installed this unit and it worked for about two weeks then stopped working. We turned on the lights one morning and smoke started to poor out of the back of this unit. We quickly shut off the lights and unplugged the unit from the batteries. We tried the unit again latter that day, same thing, smoke. I am currently looking for another option at this point. Amazon was good to accept this return. However, I was bummed to have to pay the $65.00 UPS shipping and insurance.

Progressive Dynamics PD9105V Lead Acid Battery Charge Wizard

Progressive Dynamics PD9105V Lead Acid Battery Charge Wizard
  • Size: 2 inchL x 2 inchW x 3/4 inchH
  • Cable Length: 6 feet
  • Feedback: Charge status indicator light
  • Activation Switch: Automatic with manual override button

This wizard works great and is absolutely easy to install provided you know how to use a small screwdriver and plug it in.

I love how it conditions my RV batteries and will help extend their live. I couldn't be happier with this product and my only complaint is that it should have been stock with my RV charger ;-)

Like so many others, our 2004 motorhome came equipped with the "dumb" (set voltage) charging program built into their standard converter, which provides 12-volt DC current to the coach when plugged into shore power as well as charging for the house battery bank.

When I had to replace the house batteries recently I decided to go for Trojan T-105's, and wanted to provide a better charging profile to help them work better and last longer. Our camping experience to-date had not supported a need for an inverter (which typically come with an advanced multi-stage charging program), so I was curious about an alternative to just buying a new "smart" charger.

Progressive Dynamics offers this line of "Wizard" plug-ins as an after-market application to enhance the charging capability of their popular converters (why, for such a relatively small expense they don't just make it part of the OEM package, I have no idea...I guess the RV builders just prefer to trim the few extra bucks from their building costs). Plugging it into a port in the converter changes it from a single stage charger to a three stage, with a "float" mode and a "boost" and "desulfation" mode (the last kicks in for 15 minutes every 21 hours).

The charging profile does not exactly match Trojan's recommendations, but it's a lot closer than the stock converter. Hook-up is plug-and-play, but the plug is fairly large, so, like in my case, because I wanted to mount the Wizard inside the coach, I had to cut the plug off and then splice it back on to prevent having to drill overly large holes in my cabinetry (and the cord is only about 36" long). But with the device inside, I can monitor the tell-tale diode that blinks at different rates to let you know which mode the charger is using, and if I feel I need to manually change to a different charge rate, I can do that with the button on the face of the Wizard.

Again, not perfect, but a pretty convenient (albeit compromise) solution for a little bit of cost.

As a footnote, over the winter I left the motorhome at a campsite in Florida, where it sat plugged in but unattended for a couple of periods of 3 and 4 weeks at a stretch, and when I got back the batteries were fully charged and had not lost a measurable amount of water. That's not too bad, in my opinion.

Installed this last winter, simple installation and seems to be working as advertised. Previous owner of RV said to disconnect the batteries when not using it or they would boil and go bad. Since installing I keep them hooked up and the RV plugged in 24 / 7 with no issues.

Great product . . .does exactly what it says it will do. Saved the cost of purchasing a new (and more advanced) charger/converter. For the price, I can't understand why Progressive Dynamics does not just build it into their 9100 series chargres/converters. EASY to install . . . just remove 1 screw, plug it in, and replace the screw.

Fast shipping; as described; good packing. One problem is that the CW has a non-detachable plug many times larger than the cable; if you want to thread it through a 1/4" panel hole, then you need to cut and re-splice the cable. I would have loved to X-ray the sealed case, as I suspect that all the CW contains is a switch and an LED, which would make it rather over-priced. Still, it's nice to have a blinky light that remotely tells you the charger is really working.
