Blue - iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation USB Charger Adapter

Blue - iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation USB Charger Adapter
  • It includes usb

Purchased this 2nd generation iPod shuffle charger/sync device, after my original of two years broke! After checking several box stores, I concluded that for $20 more, I might as well buy a new iPod! these chargers are that expensive! I ran a search on Amazon & this item popped up first! For $1.83 I wish I bought more! Small & simplistic best describes it! Syncs up to iTunes without a glitch! Seems to charge faster than the original iPod charger in my opinion! For an item where the shipping was more than the product itself, I'm 100% satisfied! My only advice would be that at this price, buy at least a couple!

Not too much to say so I'll be brief. Contacts are gold plated, works gread, has never failed to connect. Body plastic is *slightly* rubbery, allowing it to bend and give just a little bit (less likely for the protruding plugs to snap off). Super compact fits in my pocket with my shuffle and basically turns it into a jump drive.

It's sturdy, it's compact, it charges, it syncs. And the price is right. Worth its weight in gold!

The product is small, and can be carried around so I don't have to deal with cables. It connected perfectly to my macbook pro eventhough, it scared me when a window popped up saying that an unknown USB drive was taking too much power. It's ok though, after I opened iTunes the iPod was read and the syncing process happened without a glitch. :D Highly recommended if you don't want to spend too much money on this type of item.

Piece of junk. If something seems too good (or too cheap) to be true then it is. This is the level of quality I'd expect from a gumball machine toy. This didn't do anything but cause my computer to shut down the USB port, saying it suffered a power surge. Oh yeah, and sparks shot out of my iPod. Seriously. No thank you. Probably a fire hazard. Don't waste your money.

Save A Battery 2365-24 24-Volt Battery Charger and Maintainer
  • 24-Volt, 50-Watt unit charges and maintains batteries with fast-acting pulsing technology
  • Extends battery life the longer it is plugged in
  • Safe to use, with over-current, over-voltage, short-circuit and reverse polarity protection
  • Unique modular cable design offers a variety of connectors and lengths, and can be changed quickly and easily
  • Lightweight, compact and easy to transport

...but it can't save them all. I have several OLD 24V battery packs that were horribly abused during their life and have been idle for a couple years. I started with the pack that had the highest indicated voltage (18V) and the Save-A-Battery actually recovered two of the packs to 85% 90% state of charge. The others were just too far gone. NOTE: The unit will indicate battery error several times until the battery gets to a certain voltage level and then the unit will maintain the battery without error. Though I have not measured it, it also appears to maintain a higher state of charge than the OEM charger for a "new" battery pack. Time will tell if it's worth the higher price.

Had suggestions to buy a Puxing 888k, but after receiving it I found that it was pretty much at the bottom of the list and was very unsatisfied. So I did my own research (a lot of research) and found that this one was the best choice for the price range that I gave myself. I am very satisfied. This thing reaches much further and has better features added. Plus came with a car charger. So yes, there are better handhelds out there, but for the price you can't beat this one. I am hitting a repeater 13 miles away witch is something the Puxing couldn't do. Thank god I could return it!

This seems to be a decent radio for a handy talkie. It has a fairly steep learning curve and lots of testing to determine some settings of the equipment. It has only two power settings, which is ok. I have had a few QSO's with this equipment. So the learning curve is a few days. It is just what I wanted for about 1/2 the price of a Yaesu of equivalent quality.

Genuine HTC Verizon Thunderbolt Window & Dash Vehicle / Car Mount Dock

Genuine HTC Verizon Thunderbolt Window & Dash Vehicle / Car Mount DockThough this dock is extremely well built and sturdy it's still not as well done as the original Droid dock. It takes two hands to get the phone to snap into this contraption, and THREE to get it out. It snaps into place then there is a locking mechanism for added sturdiness. That said, once your phone is in the only way it's coming out is with extreme force. Comparatively speaking, the OG Droid dock was very simple but very effective. I could get in the car and just snap the phone right into place with one hand. Same for removal. (minus one star)

The one upside to this dock is that it has the built in charger port. Once you plug your cord into the back of the dock you don't have to worry about fumbling around trying to plug it in while you're driving. Downside to this is as mentioned above, it takes some force to get the phone to snap into place and I think over time this is going to shorten the life of the phones charging port itself. (minus another star)

As far as what the phone does once plugged in, pretty much the typical car home-screen. Options for phone, nav, maps, etc.. If I could take another star away for not being able to change any of the car-home icons I would, but since I'm only reviewing the dock I wont. You can exit the car mode while docked but once you exit you have to remove the phone and put it back in dock to get back to car-home. I blame HTC for that blunder and hopefully they will fix that with the next software upgrade.

All in all this dock is good, but with all downsides I can only hope a third-party comes out with a better one. Until then I will just have to put up with a three star device.

***Just in case anyone was wondering, you have to remove any case or skin in order to dock the phone***

I bought this the day the phone came out and have been using it religiously ever since.

I don't know why the previous reviews have been (what seems to me) overly critical of this item, but rather than focus on that, I will tell you my likes and dislikes of the dock.

Pros:

-Suction cup works very well, never falls off.

-Fully adjustable mount, allowing a ton of viewing angles, landscape and portrait modes.

-Plug charger into the base clip, not the phone. (No need to unplug charger from phone.)

-Headphones/Stereo cable has clips. If you plug your phone into your car stereo or a wired headset, you can clip the wire in the back of the base so you don't have to find the wire every time.

-Your phone isn't going anywhere! As previous posters have stated, the phone is quite difficult to get out of the mount. I find this a positive as I don't want my phone flying out if (knock on wood) I were to get into an accident and possibly injuring me or passengers. The phone is really easy to get in the dock and has a "locking" clip to secure the phone on all 4 edges.

-Compatible with DailyRoads Voyager app. This app records video/pictures and/or audio while you are driving. (Helpful if you are in an accident or given a ticket that you didn't deserve.) I've found that the Video/Picture works best when the dock is dash-mounted and in portrait mode.

Cons:

-Stock Car Dock app is very basic/bland. This really isn't a Car Dock issue as much as it is a HTC issue. I don't have a Stock phone (rooted) and I use a nice little app called Car Home that negates this Con.

-It is a bit tough coming out of the dock. The best solution to this that I have found is to put the phone into lock/sleep, then use both hands to get it out (one holds the base, the other grabs and pulls the phone out). I've gotten used to it so this isn't nearly as big of a deal as I first thought. This is the only reason why I took a star off the rating.

All-in-all, I have to say this is a great accessory to have, and it is cheap as well. I remember paying twice the amount for my Droid X Car Dock. HTC also has to resolve the fact that when you plug something into the headphone jack that it mutes the phone's microphones (so if your cable has no mic on it, you can't talk to someone on the phone), but that is not an issue with the car dock offered here, that is another knock against the phone.

Buy Genuine HTC Verizon Thunderbolt Window & Dash Vehicle / Car Mount Dock Now

Feels cheaply made, and Thunderbolt will not fit into dock with any sort of case on. That's huge I think because most people have cases on their phones (I have a Seido hard case that works great, but is a pain to take on or off) I use the Ardon Generic Car Dock and it works great, but also a little cheap as well.

I just wanted to write this review as a warning to perspective buyers that this does not work if you have the extended battery. I'm sure it's a great mount, but I was never able to use it for this reason.

Want Genuine HTC Verizon Thunderbolt Window & Dash Vehicle / Car Mount Dock Discount?

This is a good mount for the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt. The only negative I give it is that it only fits with the standard battery with no case. Even the desktop cradle fits the extended battery. Mounts very well to the windshield and has not fallen, even in the Texas heat.

Cobra Vedetta Ultimate Detection Systems Series, SLR 650G Radar/Laser/Camera Detector

Cobra Vedetta Ultimate Detection Systems Series, SLR 650G Radar/Laser/Camera Detector
  • Supercharged Performance Radar/Laser Detector, provides phenomenal detection range on all radar/laser speed monitoring devices
  • Quad-level IntelliShield lets you choose from 4 levels of city filtering modes for improved false signal rejection
  • 2.4 inch, High-Def color display gives you a bright and easy to read/operate screen in any lighting situation with touch-point controls, choose from 6 user-selectable color themes
  • VoiceAlert provides user with human voice band annunciation
  • Internal GPS receiver and lifetime AURA camera and driving hazard database alerts users to speed and red light cameras, known speed traps and dangerous intersections

I was trying different radar detectors in my country and no one could detect the Multaradar CD that operate in K Band here... so I saw that Cobra was releasing the new Vedetta Series with supercharged detection, so again I give a shot like my last hope and again unfortunately this is another detector that could not detect the Multadar CD.

Pros:

This detector looks really nice, better than any another one that I tried before including the Escort 9500.

Is a lot smaller than I thought, that was my concern after seen the pictures, but the detector is nice built and really small.

The screen is nice you can change the colors scheme, for colored or mono color to match your car dash, I really liked that function in my case I use Blue Scheme.

This detector is really smart on false alarms, when you are just moving slow the detector doesn't emit any sound just screen alerts, that is really handy when you are on the city.

The design, the looks and the material used in the construction is really higher than the ones used on other detectors that I did try before.

Cons:

In my case can't detect the Multaradar CD K Band.

The support is ugly like the Garmin ones, I didn't liked, so I used velcro on my dash to mount (Velcro Included).

The cord is not coiled, is just the regular cord, so you have to use something to wrap what is left, is too long for my taste.

Very poor information online about this device, the box came with just a really small mini manual, they should put online the tech info about this device.

To resume my experience I felt really bad when I just stopped my car and put the detector face to face with the Multaradar CD and it not even beep!! the cops just gave me the smile and said to me 'How your 300 bucks detector could beat our 50.000.00 machine?" actually he was really nice to let me try my detector so close!!! and no, don't even beep!! this, the suction cup and the poor information available online about this device is the reason that I give 3 stars...

If you have any doubt about this detector, fell free to ask me before you purchase!

UPDATE 08/21/2012

I just received an e-mail from Cobra and they confirmed that they radars can't detect radars operating at K band 24.100 Ghz, however on the radar documents they did send me, that clearly says that the SLR 650G can detect on K band between 24.000 Ghz and 24.250 Ghz. So 24.100 Ghz is inside the range. That is the reason I removed 1 star more.

Cobra claims to detect any threat, any band more than any another one, but unfortunately that is not true so Buyer be aware if you pretend to use this detector to detect low powered K band radars.

This is the second Cobra radar detector that I've owned. The first Cobra XRS 9960G Voice Alert 15-Band Radar/Laser Detector with 1.5-Inch Full-Color Display, GPS Locator, and Red Light/Speed Features one worked OK but had a weird GPS dongle hanging off the side of it. Unfortunately the display became permanently dim after a couple years. I no longer use it.

The Vedetta has a completely different display which is larger than the display on the previous unit. In addition it offers much greater flexibility in viewing angle and mounting since it swivels and pivots. You even have the ability to electronically flip the display upside down in order to facilitate mounting the radar detector in the way that best fits for your particular car. The Vedetta has an integrated GPS so that means no external GPS module hanging off to one side of the unit.

Power is supplied to the Vedetta via a power port/cigarette lighter plug. It was disappointing to me that the Vedetta does not have a USB power port on the unit itself but uses a proprietary plug. This may be due to its power requirements but I'm not sure. It would certainly be more helpful to have a USB power plug since most other GPS's and other devices have migrated to that and it makes it less cumbersome to be able to use the same USB power cord that many other devices use.

The Vedetta starts up automatically when power to the unit is provided. There is a power button to turn the unit off. The power button serves another purpose as well; if held for a few seconds, the display flips upside down. This helps you to position the unit more easily on your windshield.

The windshield mount provided is the best mount I've ever used. The disc is sticky and uses a suction mechanism. The combination provides a "won't let go" attachment to your windshield that is superb. I've never had the mount loosen and fall off the windshield in heat, cold or any circumstance. It's the best!

The screen is characterized as having "touch-sensor controls" which is not to be confused with an actual touch screen. It's not a touch screen such as an iPhone touch screen. In this case the controls are operated by touching designated areas on either side of the actual information display. In my case, the right side "buttons" or sensors worked easily whereas the left side "buttons" required a more definitive press that I could only accomplish by using two hands. A simple one finger touch to the sensor area was not enough to activate it.

The screen is very glossy and has no anti-glare properties whatsoever. At times it is impossible to see the display due to the glare. Why don't electronics makers utilize anti-glare screens especially when the device is going to be in a situation where external light will always be hitting it? I just don't understand this.

The Vedetta allows you to set filters that determine at what sensitivity the audio alert for radar/laser will activate. I normally keep mine on the highway setting which lets all alerts through since I live in an area with few false alarms. If you are in a dense urban area, you'd probably not want to keep it on highway setting as you'd be picking up all sorts of random signals from automatic door openers, etc.

The Vedetta seems to have a great range of picking up radar. In one instance the Ka alert went off a mile in advance of where the police car was sitting on the side of the road. In another case, I had slightly over a mile advance warning of a speed limit monitor device that was parket in a residential area.

I've had the unit indicate several "speed trap" areas in my area. I'm not quite sure how these areas are added to the AURA database or how frequently the database is updated, but I update my Vedetta weekly if I remember to. One concern for Mac users is the unfortunate reality that you cannot update the AURA database on your Vedetta if you use a Mac. The software is only available for Windows machines. Come on Cobra. that's not acceptable.

I personally do not like the graphics of the display. They are clunky looking and remind me of a cheesy circa 1978 video game or something. I do like the indication of compass heading and speed, I just don't like how that information is presented. There is also an unneeded animation at the bottom of the display that serves no purpose other than to provide some eye candy that you will quickly tire of looking at. It cannot be disabled.

Overall, this is a well-functioning unit. One feature I like a lot is the ability to easily change the radar sensitivity from highway to city by a simple, single button push. But If I had one wish it would be that it gave an indication of what direction the radar signal is coming from. Valentine radar detectors provide this feature. It is more helpful knowing where the radar is coming from. The excellent windshield mount makes this secure on your windshield in all conditions. The sensitivity seems great and lifetime updates to the AURA database are included. Too bad Mac users can't update their Vedetta's AURA database though. That's a big oversight that Cobra should address.

I ordered this Radar on January 20th and received it on the 25th with their standard free shipping and I love this thing.

Not only does this thing look cool it performance is outstanding. After reading some reviews I was a little concerned but I am glad I ordered it. The volume is great seen a few reviews that it had poor volume but I can hear it just fine with my radio on. I was also concerned about it being too big and I had no problem finding a good spot to mount it without blocking my view. All in all this thing is great sets up easy no guessing or wondering very basic setup controls. The only thing that could make this a better unit is if Cobra added Bluetooth to it so it can be sync with a smartphone to get the Aura updates. But even then I doubt the locations are changing that frequently that it need to be updated daily. You know the city isn't out moving there red light cam to new locations daily

Black & Decker JUS500IB 500-Amp Jump Starter with Built-in Tire Inflator

Black & Decker JUS500IB 500-Amp Jump Starter with Built-in Tire Inflator
  • 500 Instant starting amps for maximum performance
  • 120 PSI inflator for vehicle tires, sports equipment and more
  • Low-profile design for easy storage within vehicle or garage
  • Visual and audible reverse polarity alarms warn against improper connections to battery terminals
  • Ultra bright area light for increased visibility in dark areas

So far this unit has performed well. I used it to jump-start a raggedy old farm tractor, and the little box seems to have an impressive amount of cranking power (for short bursts, anyway).

I've used the inflator twice to inflate a car and a truck tire. Takes awhile to get a tire up to pressure, but's that's normal with these little compressors. For it's size, it's quite adequate as an emergency air source. Took me about 8 minutes to bring the car tire up from 25 PSI to 45 PSI (under the weight of the vehicle). Really not that bad.

The truck tire took a bit longer, as I had to stop the unit to let it cool down. B&D recommends running the inflator for no more than 10 minutes continuously. Total time to bring this nearly-flat tire up to pressure: Just under a half-hour. Again, not too shabby considering how small this thing is.

I like the layout of the controls and indicators. Clear, easy to read, easy to access. Storage for the jumper cables is OK. I'd prefer to see them stowed in a sealed compartment, but they seem pretty secure. Keep the clamps clean, and there shouldn't be any issues storing this in a car.

Storage for the inflator hose is cheesy. It's stuffed into a tiny compartment, and you have to really bend the hose in order to get it inside. The maximum length of the air hose is about 2 feet. You must set the unit very close to the tire for the hose to reach the valve. Not a problem for me so far, but keep this in mind if you need a unit with a long reach. B&D could have done better here.

A major gripe I have is that the inflator has no provision for a backup power source. Depending on how long the internal battery will remain charged in storage, you might find it lacks the juice to power the unit in an emergency. Why couldn't B&D include a 12V cigarette adaptor for this situation? For a unit that's supposed to be a piece of emergency gear, this seems like a glaring oversight. You'd better hope that the internal battery is extremely reliable without it, the unit is useless. Could have been a five-star rating if not for that issue.

Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase. Reliability will be the ultimate test, and it's still too early to pass judgement. If it holds up season after season, and delivers the goods when really needed, I may change my rating to 5 stars. For under 100 bucks, I'd say give it a try.

UPDATE: 12 Jan 2010

The inflator died on me, with less than 4 hours total runtime. The motor was cranking away, but there was no air pressure at all. Brought it to a B&D service center, and paid $15 to have a new one shipped to my home. No hassle at all returning the unit, and the replacement is working as advertised so far. Maybe I just got a lemon, so I'm not going to downgrade the rating at this time. Will check back at a later date.

UPDATE: 23 Aug 2011

Working fine after 15 hours of compressor use. I was advised not to store the unit very long in sub-freezing temperatures. This apparently can damage the compressor, which may be the reason my first unit failed.

This review is for the Black & Decker JUS500IB 500 Amp Jump Starter with Inflator

I received this last week, plugged it in to charge the battery, and planned to leave it in the garage. I wasn't planning on writing a review until I used it, until this morning when I needed jump-start my car because "someone" left the lights on overnight. Sure enough, I put this baby to work immediately and the engine started (no surprise there).

What I was surprised about was that I needed to connect both the positive and negative to their respective terminals. At first, I connected the negative clamp to the chasis (like how I would normally jump a car), but my car would not start. I tried several places along the non-painted metal frame part and even the engine block of the dead car to no avail. As a last resort, I connected it to the bolt of the negative post (while wearing eye protection), and the car started. I know this is a no-no, but nothing else worked, and I needed to go to work. I'll troubleshoot at a later time (or most likely never). UPDATE: I've since used this on various automobiles (including the problematic car described above), and connecting the negative clamp to the chasis works perfectly fine now. I'm not sure what happened since, but now it is working fine following the proper useage.

Now, I keep it in the trunk, just in case. It has a nice compact body, so it does not take up much space. I like the light on the unit, but it is also a bit awkward to use (it points UP, rather than down), so I had to hold the unit upside down to see what I was doing. I have yet to use the inflator, so I have nothing to contribute about it. I did try it, and it seems to work. The compartment for the hose is awkward (behind a small plastic door underneath), but at least the hose is stored and not dangling around.

It does not come with an extension cord, which is required for charging. Luckily, I had one available, but it would have been nice to have come with one (even a six-footer would be nice). (Minus half star)

Overall, a very nice portable jump starter. I have a project car that constantly needs a jump, and I found this jump starter readily handy. For those who do not anticipate to use it a lot, this unit may be a bit overkill, and there are other smaller and cheaper alternatives. Highly recommended. Will update in a few months.

Note to Amazon: This product comes with an "AC charger," and not an "air conditioning charger." Please make the appropriate change in the product description section.

I've owned this for almost a year now, and I can honestly tell you, buy the jump starter without the tire inflator.

The jump starter works great, the internal battery lasts a very long time, and this unit is very well made for the most part.

The weak link is the tire inflator. It overheats very quickly depending on the outside temp. In hot sunny weather it began smoking in a few minutes. Within a few months of regular usage (I have a bad rim on my car), the inflator completely died. It ran, it just has no air pressure.

I guess in an emergency the inflator would do it's job, but for regular usage, buy a better inflator.

The light works well, but points straight up.

The usb charger worked as it should.

I'd give 5 stars except for the inflator.

My rating is 3 stars

Please realize that this is heavy and clunky but that is expected. It does not sit well and must be layed down. Anyway the first time I had to use the air tire inflator, it broke off. Then I had an extreme amount of trouble exchanging it as it is a battery that cannot be shipped easily. Thanks to amazon they finally accepted an exchange and now it works fine.

Amp Solar Charger

Voltaic Systems 1018 Amp Solar Charger and 3,000 mAh Battery - 4 Watts Solar Power for Handheld Electronics - SilverThis 1018 Solar Charger is awesome. I took it out into the field for 2 weeks straight. I used some D rings to clip it onto my backpack and it went everywhere with me. In direct sunlight it took about 6 hours to get a full charge. It will let you know when you look at the LED's it will stop flashing when its completely full. I used this in conjunction with my iphone and every night it charged my iPhone to 100%. This thing worked great. I only used it with an iPod and my iPhone, but anything else should charge as long as it plugs in USB. If you turn your device off, it will charge much faster. A few of my buddies purchased cheaper versions like this and had issues with them. Mine was the only one that worked the whole time in the field.

I bought this charger to keep my iPhone topped off during camping trips. It does exactly what you want it to do, and performs quite nicely! I tested it out in the woods, out of direct sunlight, and was able to get a full charge of my iPhone 4 each day (I literally ran the phone dead each day using the GPS). I'm certain I could get more juice out of it if I kept it in direct sunlight all day long.

The only thing I would (and likely will) change is that while charging the interior of the case is exposed. Laying it out on a rock to bask in the sun caused a few scuffs on the internal battery. I'm considering adding a layer of cloth inside, so the battery and connectors are always protected.

The battery is removable, and slips easily into a shirt pocket. This is an awesome feature, as it can be used as a battery booster for your phone. I won't have to use my phone sparingly at the zoo/theme parks anymore, as I'll have another charge and a half waiting in my pocket.

Perfect for keeping a phone charged up each day; for a notebook/tablet, I'd go bigger.

The Voltiac solar charger is expensive, but worth it. I've gotten less expensive chargers that ended up powering very few things. The huge advantage to the Voltaic is that it includes a battery. If the battery has been charged through the solar panels (about 4 hours in full sun), that can be used to fully charge a cell phone or other small item. If you have access to full sun, the solar panels will directly charge your item. My family took this on a camping trip in an area that has iffy phone reception, so batteries burn out quickly as the phone keeps searching for a signal. The Voltaic kept the phones charged. Next camping trip I will have to get at least one more, so we can each have regular access to one.

I also make sure to keep the battery charged at home. We have frequent power outages, and our FIOS landline stops working after about 12 hours without power. The Voltiac will keep our cell phones charged.

I have been looking for quite some time for a solar charger for my iPhone and i Touch. I spend lots of time in remote areas without electricity where it is still nice to have my Itouch for listening to books and such. Also, I bike ride a lot and this charger is perfect for recharging my phone on the road no matter where I am. It is not a tiny charger, but well worth the space. Note that it has 4 watts of power. this is double what many solar charger have. That means the charging time is very quick.

I have this for over a year and purchased a second one. I have the charcoal one and now I got a silver one. I would recommend a silver one over charcoal. Looks geeky. It is great for charging those ever draining smartphones/iphones. Just let it charge the battery in Voltaic during long drives and later if you are parked you can charge the phones. Also while travelling it is very useful especially airports/international travels where there is power cuts/irregular electricity supply. I am very pleased with this for the cool factor and real productive use.

Schumacher WM-12 Cable Connector for Battery Charger/Maintainer

Schumacher WM-12 Cable Connector for Battery Charger/Maintainer
  • Extra lead allows you to quickly and easily connect and charge different items with your charger
  • An inexpensive way to get more from your battery chargers
  • Made for use with Schumacher electric chargers
  • Color coated for user safety
  • Very user-friendly

I recently bought several battery charging products to get ready for winter, including a Schumacher SEM-1562A (bought at the local Tractor Supply Co.), the Schumacher EC-25 25' Cable Connector Extension Cord and this extra connector cable.

The charger works great. The extension cable works great. This connector works great as well. But....

I was a bit disappointed in the over all design of this connector, tho. I was expecting it to be the same as the one that came with the charger, but it falls short in at least three ways. It's shorter, the cable is less robust (it may be the same gauge of wire, but it feels flimsy compared to the original and doesn't have as good a plastic sheath around it), and it doesn't have a cover for the plug to keep dirt and grime out. As the point is to leave this attached to the vehicle year round, it seems like the chances to get gunked up are pretty good.

For the price, I think this is a swell product. However, for a couple bucks more (which in this case I grant, is close to 50%) you can get the Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black Fused 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug which has none of the drawbacks of this connector that I mentioned above. It's by a different company, but the plugs are identical and it hooks right up fine.

So, in short, this is a fine product that does what it claims but there are better products out there.

Very timely receipt following my order. The Schumacher WM-12 Cable Connector is well made, fits perfectly onto my battery tender, and allows me to maintain the battery on my Harley without having to remove the seat. Thanks a bunch!

Got this for a lawn tractor, so I could quickly hook up to a charger I use for everything with small batteries (U1 and under). I was stunned when it arrived with a captive plug cover (the illustration doesn't show one), maybe they forgot to mark the present production as "new and improved" or something of the sort. Still, it's a welcome addition to an already extremely useful battery-charging accessory.

Bought the cable to allow me to permanently attach battery pigtails to a second motorcycle's battery. I can now easily share a single charger between two motorcycles. No complaints, the product is exactly the same as what comes stock with the Schumacher SEM-1562A 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Maintainer.

Bare-Tool Makita BTW450Z High Torque Impact Wrench (Tool Only, No Battery)

Bare-Tool Makita BTW450Z High Torque Impact Wrench
  • Makita-built motor delivers 325 ft.lbs. of max torque, with 1,600 RPM and 2,200 IPM
  • Compact, ergonomic design,10-1/2-inches long, 7.5-pounds for reduced operator fatigue
  • Large rocker switch, built-in LED light, large tool hook, job-site tested shock absorbent handle
  • Makita LXT lithium-ion battery, Energy Star rated 30-minute rapid optimum charger
  • Tool only (battery not included), 3-year warranty

I bought this to change tires at the race track. But I just keep finding uses for it. Tons of power for a cordless and decent run time on the little lithium batteries. At first the little batteries do not fit, but there is a ridge in the tool there to force you to use the big batteries. All you have to do is grind it off and the smaller kit batteries will fit. Works great for: driving in big lag bolts for a deck, changing a flat tractor tire in the middle of a field, swapping car tires.

What it does lack is variable speed, but this is a brute force tool anyway. The little led light is handy too. FYI, at the track, one battery will do almost 2 sets of tires tourqued to 100 ft/lbs.

I used to make my living as an auto mechanic. I used a friends Dewalt cordless 1/2" impact wrench and was very impressed but when I saw the price I backed off. I own several other makita tools that use the same lithium-ion battery and have been very happy with them. When this unit came up for less than half the price of the Dewalt I jumped. I still own a 1/2" air impact and this cordless wrench appears to have as much power as the air wrench. It is heavy especially with the battery but at least there is no hose attached to it. I like the shock absorbing battery mount. I think that's a great idea.

PRO'S:

* Extremely powerful, comparable to many of the best air-powered impact wrenches but without the hassle of a hose.

* Uses Makita's super lightweight 18V lithium battery.

* Forward and reverse are built into a single trigger. The top of 1/3 of the trigger activates reverse, while the bottom 2/3 operates the wrench in forward. No need to press a switch or button before changing directions.

* Seems very wellbuilt: Has a shock absorbing base to protect the battery, solid feel, and sockets are easy to change.

CON'S:

* It's heavy plain and simple. Although that is probably to be expected from a powerful impact wrench.

* It is unbalanced because the top is so heavy while the battery is very light.

* Dual-use trigger takes a bit of getting used to (but is a better design once you've done it a few times).

Overall, this is heavy-duty and efficient unit that makes a good addition to the already outstanding line of Makita LXT tools. We use it for lawn mower repair in my landscape business, and it is definitely the preferred tool. It would be great for automotive work and will spin the lugnuts off of a verhicle in a flash (we tried it on a trailer wheel).

Purchased this tool for use at home rotating tires without air, I am an Automotive tech and have used the Snap-on 1/2'' cordless Impact and I can say that this Impact is not a strong as the snap-on but is also just 1/3 the price. Also the rocker switch takes a little getting use to. Still gets the job done of removing lug nuts with not much problem. Tool is pretty big but all the high torque 1/2'' Impacts from snap-on/ingersal rand are also rather large. Overall very happy with my purchase price and performance hope it lasts for many years.

I purchased this solely for removing the 1 1/8" pinion nut on a 15 year old Jeep Cherokee. They're torqued from the factory to 200 ft-lbs. In MN, the salty roads lead to a lot of rust on threaded fasteners, so I was worried about being able to remove such a large, heavily torqued nut.

This impact had absolutely no problem getting the nut off. 2-3 seconds of hammering and off it came. For anyone who lives in the rust belt, buy one of these immediately. I wish I had gotten one sooner, it is SO much better than a 2' breaker bar with a pipe over the end of it. Plus it's still small enough to get into most places.

It paid for itself on just this one repair as the local shop quoted me ~$250 for this fix.

For anyone who frequents junkyards, this tool's value is immeasurable. Taking apart rear ends or suspensions is absolutely no problem, though I recommend an extra battery.

Cons? It's a bit heavy, especially at arm's length, but it removes nuts and bolts so quickly that you don't have to hold it for long.

Wagan EL2510 Solar Power Control

Wagan EL2510 Solar Power Control

  • Ensures the battery is properly and fully charged, resulting in enhanced battery performance with less battery maintenance
  • A built in LCD digital display that monitors solar charge performance and shows battery voltage, solar panel current as well as output charge current
  • Control your energy source and protect batteries from being overcharged
  • Fuse protection on both battery and solar array

Bought this one in May 2010, and is working properly on my solar energy system, charging the batteries properly, I saw many bad reviews about this charger controller, but sometimes people do not realize that you need some technical advice to connect this charger and do not mess up with the connections, inverting the polarity on the batteries to connect to the charger. Many people that want go solar are DIY and mostly do not have skills with eletricity, this is working fine for me 400 watts solar panels charging everyday my batteries and I still can see the current flowing to the panels. If you want go solar ( please ) take some time understanding the principles of

electricity and electronics.

I got the thing home and hooked it up and it started to charge and then shuts itself off after 2-3seconds..

tried different batteries and solar panels and Nothing.. I don't want to waist more money trying to send it back and get a new (janky) one.. so I bought an HQRP controller that does circles around this thing..

needless to say this Wagan solar charger is in the garbage... maybe it will work for you but it didn't work for me.. buy something better and be happy with your purchase.

The unit did not function when it arrived, and when I looked into the return policy I found that the company will not pay for return shipping on any replacement in the warranty period. I am returning and selecting a different manufacturer so that if I do need warranty service I won't be stuck with a bill shipping the unit to them and then with the bill for sending a replacement back to me.

I've had this solar charge controller in operation for six months with no problems. The best feature is the voltage/current switch. It shows the charging current as well as the charging voltage. You no longer have to guess how your panels are performing. The only con is that there is no low battery voltage protection. Not a problem if your DC to AC converter has this over discharge protection circuit as mine does. I have two 80 watt panels charging two 12v deep cycle wet cell batteries at approx. 18v and 9amps during peak sun. At a 400 watt and 30 amp max, I still have room to grow! I'm hooked on harvesting the sun. I'm sure the payback is way out there somewhere, but my real interest is in having electricity when the power goes down. The price is right and it does the job with some nice bells and whistles...
