Black Car Charger/ iPod/ iPhone 4G/ iPhone 3G/ iPhone 3GS

Black Car Charger/ iPod/ iPhone 4G/ iPhone 3G/ iPhone 3GSProduct broke within 2 days of purchase. Wires came right out of charger base. Would not recommend to anyone

This charger is a little more cheaply made than I thought it would be. I have to continually check the connection to my phone because it seems like it keeps slipping. I use my phone a lot, so I require a car charger to keep it from dying on the way home from work. I may eventually replace this one with a more durable model.

I only used this product two times. Although, it was two times over a period of two months. When I received it, I thought it looked a bit cheap but it worked perfectly fine when I plugged it in my 3G. I had no problems with it while it was working. Then suddenly, when I tried using it a third time, it had stopped working. Probably a connection problem because the red light indicator showing it was receiving power from the cigarette lighter was on.

Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12V

Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12VProduct Manufacturer: Global Solar Energy

Model Indication / Branding: Sunlinq 25 Watt folding solar panel

Manufacturer Model Number: PN 22127A

Weight: 26 ounces / 737 grams

Output Unloaded: 15.6 VDC

Rated Output: 12 VDC

Nominal voltage: 14.3 VDC(Averaged)

Power: 1500mA

Connector type: SAE 2 Pin Connector "Junction"

Sunset Anti-Feedback Diode: Yes

Cell composition: Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide (CIGS)

Open size: 34" x 20" / 86.36 cm x 50.8 cm

Closed size: 8.5" x 10.5" x ~2.5" thick / 21.59 cm x 26.67 cm x 6.35 cm

This panel is my first foray into folding portable solar storage. The outer shell material appears to be a plasticized ballistic "rip stop" type nylon material [pattern] of at least a few mils thickness. (I will break out the micrometer if anyone is truly interested)

This product does not technically fall under the mil spec construction guidelines as identified by the manufacturer. The mil-spec units start at 30 Watts (or 62 Watts) and do not include the "accessory kit" . The accessory kit is only included with the 25 Watt and below units. I have not verified the low end of the scale for the accessory kit being included. But the buyer would be wise to ensure that if the kit is not included, that they have it.

This product material is stiff below 75F / 23C and prone to maintaining a memory. If allowed to be stretched out during daylight hours it will mostly conform to the flat or mildly curved surface below it, however below this temperature one will experience some mild displeasure at attempting to fold it when the following to conditions have been met. The materials has a core temp of >75F / 23C and it has been allowed to cool in a open/unfolded position. To create the least amount of stress on the panel one must consider folding these panels when warm. Unfolding the panel does not pose the same challenge as they will conform to the open position once warm.

This solar panel creates voltages that can be unhealthy for sealed/maintenance free batteries/ gel batteries and other types of batteries that do not allow the replenishment of water/acid levels. While the amperage levels are well below the unsafe levels, overcharging batteries by applying high voltages over long periods of time can produce undesirable performance characteristics in the batteries. The optional voltage regulator / charge controller is HIGHLY recommended.

This is a casual use panel. The intended purpose is to suit the qualifications of being ultra portable, mildly rugged and super cool.

The efficiency falls in between that of a rigid glass /silicone panel and above the older amorphous technology. Under peak/ideal conditions somewhere around 19%.

This panel is capable of charging smaller electronic devices directly so long as its output is regulated. On extremely bright days with low load is easily capable of producing voltages that have the potential to severely damage most consumer electronics.

In my setting I use it to keep several gel cell batteries (in parallel) topped up while car camping. This is easily enough power to run many strings of LED lights, a moderate sized car based audio system and the 12VDC margarita blender occasionally through a night and easily for 5-7 days of car camping with no outside input.

I cannot speak to survivalist purpose, but I must say that given proper care and conditions I would expect these panels to work as well as any other glass / silicone unit without the weight. Perhaps even longer for the mil-spec version.

As far as bang for the dollar is concerned. If you are looking for huge power outputs. These are not the panels you are interested in. These panels are built solely for the purpose of being lightweight, rugged and portable.

And with that purpose in mind I must say that i highly recommend them!

This is actually a pretty nice solar charger. It only has two negative aspects. First, it only has an energy efficiency rating of about 7%, and even with tender loving care, you can forget about it lasting more than about 3-4 years.

Originally touted as "weatherproof," this Global Solar device actually can be ruined by rain. As for the sun, it tends to dry out and crack when exposed to long sessions and the materials break down with sustained use. Even when pampered, a 3-year lifespan is all that can be hoped for, and this according to the manufacturer. It's great for the camper or hunter, who needs to pack it in a backpack, but somewhat lacking for the survivalist, who expects a 25+ year service life.

The 6W or 12W may be the way to go unless money is no object. Sadly, there's no other option except heavier glass paneled portable units, which weigh about nine pounds. If cared for, though, the heavier glass unit will provide significantly longer, if still indefinate, use.

Used this product only a few times so far. It has not let me down. I would recommend using the charge controller with it. I hooked up two 7A-hr batteries (from a computer UPS). My system filled my backpack, but wasn't too heavy for our hike. This system worked great to keep my sat-phone charged as well as power left for charging some dry cell batteries.

I had previously purchased the 12W version and discovered it to be very effective, especially on cloudy or overcast days. Since the 12W version had served me so well, I decided to purchase the more powerful 25W version even knowing the company is now out of business and the obvious greater expense.

I travel frequently in a van camper where weight & space limitations are an ever present factor, which is why I was attracted to the light weight, flexible technology in the first place. I also like to boon-dock; in those instances a well charged battery is essential.

The first thing I noticed about the 25W version is its tendency to retain a shape memory. Presumably, because the internal wires are heavier to be able to carry more electricity? Don't know, I'm not that savvy about these things.

My only concern about this model, is whether or not those wires will break with repeated opening and closing of the unit. The 12W version does not display that tendency.

A few months ago I replaced all the interior lighting in the van with LED bulbs, they are pricey but their lower power consumption, while providing adequate lighting, has proved to be very helpful, leaving more power available for the battery operated fan, TV or DVD player.

I also purchased the "Y" cable so both panels can be used simultaneously and as the literature recommended, a charge controller to prevent battery damage. So far it is all working well for my situation. If anything changes I will revise this review.

Easy to instal, sound is great for the size of the speakers. The only real problem is the volume control, for what ever reason it becomes very touchy when used. my advice is after you get it set to where all 4 speakers are working, just use the volume control on your device.

This is a motorcycle sound system that brings sound to a whole new level. I didn't have any sound before on my old Valkyre, so this system was a huge upgrade from nothing! Besides that, the four speakers are a really fine example of good engineering, and the amplifier is compact but powerful. Everything you could ask for!

Go Power! Weekender SW Complete Solar and Inverter System with 155 Watts of Solar

Go Power! Weekender SW Complete Solar and Inverter System with 155 Watts of Solar
  • Complete kit includes everything you need to hook up solar and inverter system
  • No fuel, no maintenance and no noise
  • Completely green power solution
  • Great for power usage on weekend and long weekend trips
  • Run your TV and other AC appliances anytime day or night without the noise of a generator

I've wanted to go solar with my rv for several years. I've gotten estimates, gone back and forth over what I needed, etc. My rv is small, but my goal was big to hopefully not ever need my generator. Well, with this system and adding a 2nd solar panel (and 3 more aux batteries) I've done it. I actually had my generator taken out and this system installed. Because I removed the generator, the system was installed through it's connections and I didn't need the controller included. Made installation a tad easier. It's only been a week, but I've been using solar only and only had one sunny day. The overcast/cloudy days have still recharged the batteries (and I've needed to run my heat every night) and during the sunny day I put things to a test vacuuming, etc and it kept up with me.

I can run my microwave, but that's really pulling the charges so don't intend to while boondocking (I never used the ac when boondocking before, so that's not a loss). I also added another 12 volt connection off the inverter to allow me to do some things (like charge my phone/computer/camera batteries, etc) without pulling as much as the inverter does. Used that every day it was cloudy.

I'm very impressed and wish I'd done this a couple years ago. Better late than never!

Things to consider the 1500 watt inverter included is strong if you only have 1 or 2 batteries, you'll need to add a couple if you want to take advantage of this. You'd be able to drain 1 or 2 batteries quickly if you used the power the inverter provides. I went to 4 batteries, and have room for 2 more if wanted. The controller, since I didn't install it, I can't comment on. I also didn't install the remote as my rig is so small that there is no need for it.

This is still so new to me will update if things change/occur that should be mentioned.

Buy Go Power! Weekender SW Complete Solar and Inverter System with 155 Watts of Solar Now

We bought the Go Power Weekender solar and inverter package, so we could keep the batteries charged on the RV, and also have the ability to run the TV at night as well as the microwave without running our generator. The kit came with everything we needed to install the solar panel and the 1500 watt inverter including a 30 amp transfer switch. This was actually a very nice addition because it makes it so when the inverter is on, all of the outlets in the RV still work just like when we are plugged in at an RV park. The solar has kept the 2 6 volt batteries that we have on the RV topped up even on fairly cloudy days. We may need to add another panel down the road for the trips over a week but for now we have found the system has been perfect. I would recommend this system for anyone that wants a complete plug and play solar and inverter system. Once it was installed we have not really had a need for the generator unless we are using the Air Conditioner a lot. The system has definitely been one of the best things we have bought for our RV.

So I saw a review with 1 star based off of Go-Powers installation, not the actual product.

It appears that the consumer under calculated the amount of battery bank storage needed and the amount of panels needed to meet the requirements for consumption.

I have dealt with this product and installed this product with no complaints. It is important as consumers to know your demand of power consumption and calculate your system size based off those calculations. This is a good product that recieved a bad review based off of a consumers ignorance.

just what was needed...as described....received incomplete....packaging was reused several times.....returned for refund immediately...still waiting for almost 2k $$...amazon is not representing good business by keeping my money without just compensation and with the complete kit as described. Ordered expansion kit at the same time ...that packaging was not good either; but, was complete...thankfully. I will definitely relate this experience to all my people.

I have experienced problems before...this the worst....

Very upset with this purchase! This is a lot of money to be wasting! We paid an electrician to put it on and we can't find anything wrong with it, but it will run from maybe 1-3 hours and then it shuts off! We called the company and the guy couldn't help us at all. He tells us there is nothing he can do for us without being able to see it?????????????? What the heck am I supposed to do with that? Where can I bring it so he can look at it then???????? I wish someone could help us! Wish I could give it zero stars!

The foldable mini speakers have a pretty fair sound quality, and the rest of the components seem to be working fairly well. The ear buds are not as high quality as those which came from Sony, but are still servicable.

Review of the Baofeng UV-5R Plus (2013 edition)

I purchased this radio sold by Sain Store, serviced by Amazon in October 2013 with Prime free shipping. The radio arrived 3 days later, however the unit shipped was the European Version with the incorrect power supply and lacking the FCC type label. I contacted Sain Store and was issued an RMA and shipping address and they replaced the radio with a US version with the proper labeling and power supply.

The Radios I received both had firmware version 281. Some units are also being shipped with version 291. Users should make note of which firmware they receive because the software version you use to program the radio is dependent on the firmware you receive. There does not seem to be any user functional differences between 281 and 291.

Impressions of the UV-5R Plus. This radio is nicely small yet not to small to operate. Like many of its Chinese contemporaries, it can be a bit quirky to program via the keypad but easy to do so with the software. Understand that easy keyboard programability is not nominally supposed to be a Part 90 compliant radio. Even so you can program frequencies, splits, Tones and DPL from the keyboard with some patience, but not channel names.

Pro's of the UV-5R Plus:

Extremely Affordable, including accessories like spare batteries.

Uses standard accessories including programming cable, mics, and antennas (with other Chinese radios such as Wouxon).

Radio has voice assist operation of many functions.

LED light is very handy.

Three color LCD backlight is useful (standby, Xmit and Receive can have colors assigned).

Small enough including antenna to fit in a pants pocket.

Sturdy construction.

Legal to use on both Ham and LMS (part 90) bands if you are licensed as a user.

VFO limits can be set to ham bands (or restricted to other bands)

Very wide frequency coverage as well as 2013 narrowband operation capability.

Can monitor FRS, GMRS, MURS, (transmit capable, but not legal lacking FCC part 95 type acceptance).

Can listen to Broadcast FM

Cons of the UV-5R Plus:

Manual could be a lot better

Not a true dual receive unit (its dual watch).

Scanning is slow, and you can't select/deselect channels to be scanned from the keyboard.

No copy memory channel to VFO function.

No PTT lock out function from Keyboard (or software).

No single channel display (would be ideal if it had a single channel mode that showed frequency and name and memory channel)

Carrier Squelch Level is not adjustable (its on or off, levels 1 through 10 are all the same).

No simple keyboard and VFO lockout insuring Mem Channel only operation (nominally a Part 90 requirement).

No AM Aircraft band receive (many won't care).

Would be even more usable by visually impaired if menu selections had voice prompts.

Overall impressions. The value for the money is outstanding. These cost under $60 delivered, for a versatile sturdy product with a good capacity LiIon Battery. The ability to cover HAM and LMS makes them ideal for Emergency, and Community Service organizations. While there are many things to nit pick at (see cons:) the usability of this radio especially when programmed with the freely available software (as well as third party software) and very affordable USB cable (about 10 bucks), is very good. Its lacks all the bells and whistles of a $ 400 dollar dedicated Japanese Ham radio, but it costs 1/8th as much and has part 90 certification for legal operation on Govt. and business bands.

These radios have received pretty good reviews on the 'net. I bought one, then another for the sweetheart. Look and feel good. Seem to function well. You will NOT find a comparable dual band radio within this price range! Heck, you probably won't find as great a radio for double it's price!

Just with everything that came in this package, I am able to hit a 2 meter repeater about 15 miles away from my home. I live in Florida, everything's sea-level. I have no idea what the max range of this is, as I've only been playing with it for about 3 days. But, to transmit and receive clearly at a 15 mile range for under $60....I am simply amazed!

Also, the radio is solidly built. It does not feel cheap at all. The LED flashlight is pretty bright and also has a strobe mode. The FM receiver works fine for me. When I'm bored, I listen to the FM radio at work and it always mutes the radio in time for me to hear 100% of the incoming 2-way traffic.

I use mine with my speaker/mic: Wouxun Walkie Talkie Remote Speaker Microphone

I also use this data cable, which I did have to "trim" some of the housing away to fit all the way into my radio: USB Programming Cable for BAOFENG UV-5R UV-3R+ Two way Radio With Driver CD

I purchased 2 of these radios for me and my wife. The first radio out of the box was defective as the menu button did not work. I returned it and got a replacement. While trying to program the replacement radio, the 5 key stopped working. I returned the radios as if they do not work correctly out of the box there is little chance they will work later. Upon rating the radios a "one star", the vendor contacted me and asked me to change the rating. I did remove the review initally but decided others need to know what they're getting. These are truly nice radios if they worked and if they weren't so difficult to program.

I am sure that once the secret gets out how good these radios are the price will go up. I compare this to my Yaesu VX5 which is a $500 radio. I run security in a hospital, and I have started replacing all my $1200 Motorolas which everyone hates to carry, I use those at fixed base stations. These are lightweight, very durable. a breeze to program. BUY THE PROGRAMMING CABLE.

If you do not need the keyboard, you may also want to look at the cheaper version. But since I have to have the latest toy, I bought this. I also purchased the Boefeng, BF 888's for my maintenance staff. They have no bells and whistles, but do exactly what I need and are dirt cheap. I did have a software conflict when programming the 888's so I recommend using a seperate computer for the 5R and the 888. Once I downloaded the software, it took about 20 seconds to program and clone other radios !! AWESOME.

I had my doubts as to whether a bluetooth passenger to rider headset would work, this one does and does very well. I have ridden many many years with shouting as the only communication method, and it worked well. But in this eara where not only helmets but full face hemets are common and in some cases required the 'old school' shouting method was in need of a review and update.

I bought the Cardo unit a bit on impulse but as soon as I charged up the units and installed the mics and earphones we took it out for a test ride. It worked great.

I can't comment on the cell phone functionality, I'm not yet ready to think about using a cell phone on a motorcycle, I only rarely use it in car. And I have not used the iPod with it yet so I'll add that later. I can say that as an intercom from rider to passenger it works just like being on the phone, it's clear and even at 75mph on the freeway on a Harley with a nice exhaust drone it was very easy for us to hear each other.

If you are in the market for a unit like this I would recommend giving this one a try. Be foreward however it will change the dymanics of your ride :-)
