Car charger and cable appears to work OK, but that is not much of consolidation if the regular charger blows up your iPhone.

The price on this item seemed to good to be true. Three different chargers for the 3G iPhone for ten bucks? Happily, all of the cables work as advertised, and I love not having had to pay $30 for ONE official Apple charger.Read Best Reviews of CAR CHARGER FOR Apple Ipod / Iphone 3G Series Here
I have always been worried about buying inexpensive cables for the 3g iphone. You never know who you can trust. Well, I have used all of the cables that this comes with now and they all are working great on my phone. My only complaint is the bright light that is always on on the wall charger. I would say it would not make a good changer for the bedroom unless you were also looking to buy a night light.Want CAR CHARGER FOR Apple Ipod / Iphone 3G Series Discount?
I lost my OEM iPhone charger and needed a replacement. This not only replaced it but I also gained two more chargers for a very affordable price. Everything works great.I ordered this product. I only got a wall charger and a car charger. The wall charger only works sometimes. The car charger appears to work. However, I've not spent enough time using the car charger to say it works as advertised confidently.Dissapointed in product and cannot reccomend. Should have purchased a higher quality product.

These cables are a good value. They work well enough if you're attaching them to automotive battery terminals; however, the jaws don't close together far enough to bite onto motorcycle/powersports type terminals, which limits their versatility.Read Best Reviews of Coleman Cable 08566 6-Gauge Heavy-Duty Booster Cables (16 Feet) Here
After accidentally including my last set of jumper cables with the sale of my last car, I was in need of new ones! These are long and heavy duty probably overkill for my 1.4L engine, but if you needed to jump a truck, they would be great. The whole assembly is well put together, with good, solid connections from the handles to the cables. They have worked great on a hybrid Highlander and Chrysler 300 (co-worker left the dome light on in the company car...).
If you don't have a lot of space though, skip this set since they are not small.

Mine just arrived. I pulled it out of the box and am concerned that the cable crimp looks weak. I expect eventually I will have to fix it if it gets used much. Other than that it looks like it will do the job.I have not actually used these yet. I purchased them after having had need of them and not having any. The clamps are tight and cord is a good length. The only thing I don't like is that there is an opening under where you hold the clamps that has a bear wire on the other side. I am not sure if you would be able to touch it through the very small slit but it is something that I have kept in my mind. Over all pretty good quality. Not the kind you would use everyday.Schumacher XCS15 SpeedCharge Ship 'n Shore Battery Charger
- Charger monitors battery condition and adjusts charge rate to prevent battery damage
- For car, truck, marine, RV, farm equipment, AGM, gel cell and deep-cycle batteries
- The 10 ampere charge has a self-adjusting charge rate for everyday charging needs and keeping your battery in peak condition
- 2 amp slow charge is great for charging small and maintaining large batteries
- The charger automatically determines whether the connected battery is a 6 volt battery or a 12 volt battery
This unit has a cool percentage charged indicator. It was easy to hookup and turn on. The icons are a little confusing but all you need to know is your battery type and how to turn it on. It will do the rest for you. Most impressive!

I purchased this unit at a large chain department store nearby not through Amazon because I needed it immediately to charge my dead car battery. The unit is easy to use but, you should read the instructions first otherwise you could damage your battery if it's not set up properly. The buttons on the unit have icons that indicate fast, slow, and maintenance charging modes. You should know under what circumstances to use those modes. There are also buttons for battery type selection that are important as well.Note that the unit is actually rated at 15amp not 10amp as indicated in the Amazon description at this writing which is a good thing.
The only issue that I have with the unit is that there is a cooling fan that is very loud. I can understand the necessity to cool the charger's components when charging a battery at high currents. The problem is that the fan is always on even when the battery becomes fully charged and is being trickle charged at low current levels when entering maintenance mode. I would have preferred that the fan be thermostatically controlled so that the fan comes on only when the charger's components heat up during fast charging. The fan should shut off during maintenance mode. Since the unit is microprocessor controlled, it would be a very simple matter to control the fan thermostatically for the price of a thermistor about a 50 cents in cost. As an electrical engineer and professional software developer, I can attest that the additional software development time to implement such a feature would be about 15 minutes.
Of course, if the manufacturer designed the unit with inadequate heat sinking on the critical electronic components to save costs, then the fan could be a requirement even at trickle charging rates. But, that would be a design flaw that would manifest itself in early life failure of the electronic components which would be even more problematic.
So, if you are looking for a charger to maintain a battery in full charge condition using a trickle charge mode (sans fan cacophony), then you may want to pass this one by.

I spoke to Schumacher 4 times and got 4 different responses as to why it wasn't working properly and what settings I should use. It was turning itself on and off and setting itself to Gel when it came back on, when I had set it to AGM for my Marine battery before it went off. I did not lose power. At one point the charger read 15.7 and I could hear the acid bubbling. Of course I unplugged it, called Schumacher for the 4th and final time. The guy said no way it would charge that high. Well it did and I do know how to read! Since it was going on and off, resetting the settings and overcharging, I decided to return it as it was definitely defective and unsafe, but apparently Schumacher wouldn't stand behind it. Be careful! Overcharging any battery is DANGEROUS! Too bad, but I didn't feel safe leaving this unattended which is why I bought this "smart charger" in the first place.Want Schumacher XCS15 SpeedCharge Ship 'n Shore Battery Charger Discount?
I purchased this unit to charge and/or maintain several different types of batteries including a bank of large 125 AH deep cycle batteries. Everything worked fine but the information during charging is not totally useful. In the charging mode, the new feature of automatically switching between % charge and voltage every 15 seconds was a good idea. However, it is only half a good idea. The voltage displayed is not the actual charging voltage at the battery. It is the mode voltage (6V or 12V) which is useless information that does not need to be repeated every 15 seconds. I returned this charger in hopes of finding a better unit.I bought two of these off of Ebay. They seem to work great, but an external volt meter showed 16.1 volts, and the charge percentage was at 100%. I'm not sure why this was, but I was using an amateur radio (Motorola Spectra 45 watt VHF) at the same time. That could have easily thrown off the charger. It does say in the manual not to do that, lol.
Initially (they showed up in the mail tonight) I like them. It's easy to use and simple to operate. Plug it in, select the charging current (2, 10 or 15 amps), battery type if you know it and off it goes. Even if you don't know the battery type, just put it on standard and your all set.
It does give a battery charge percentage while it's charging kinda cool...but it does not show the amperes going into the battery. Even if you select the 15 amp charge rate, once the battery is close to being fully charged, the current (or amperes / amperage) will lower.
There are two lines about the desulfator in the manual I posted a picture of it for you to read. I Googled if there is a way to make the charger manually go into desulfation mode, but I didn't see anything.
On (Schumacher's website) there is a link on this chargers for two manuals. The second manual listed says this:
Desulfation Mode
If the battery is left discharged for an extended period of time, it could become sulfated and not accept a normal charge. If the charger detects a sulfated battery, the charger will switch to a special mode of operation designed for such batteries. The display will start counting up from 1, increasing every hour. If successful, normal charging will resume after the battery is desulfated. Desulfation could take up to 8 hours. If desulfation fails, charging will abort. See Aborted Charge section.
Here is the link for that manual: It's on page 8. The above is a direct cut & paste.
All in all it seem to be great and I'll finish my review hopefully tonight or tomorrow about the 16.1 battery voltage.
**Update**
This is from This is from their page and all the credit goes to them.
"Equalization
Equalization is essentially a controlled over charge. Some charger manufacturers call the peak voltage the charger attains at the end of the BULK mode (absorption voltage) an equalization voltage, but technically it's not. Higher capacity wet (flooded) batteries sometimes benefit from this procedure, particularly the physically tall batteries. The electrolyte in a wet battery can stratify over time, if not cycled occasionally. In equalization, the voltage is brought up above typical peak charging voltage (to 15 to 16 volts in a 12 volt system) well into the gassing stage, and held for a fixed (but limited) period. This stirs up the chemistry in the entire battery, "equalizing" the strength of the electrolyte, and knocking off any loose sulphation that may be on the battery plates.
The construction of AGM and Gel batteries all but eliminates any stratification, and most all manufacturers of this type do not recommend it (advising against it). Some manufacturers (notably Concorde) list a procedure, but voltage and time are critical to avoid battery damage."
This explains the 16-16.1 volts and why it's necessary. With an amp meter, the current output is ~2.2A, at 16 volts. The percentage display showed the battery at 97-98%. So it would not be sitting at 16v for long.
Just make sure that if you do charge a marine, deep cycle battery, change the battery type.
Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th G
- Ultra-compact
- Plugs into any car power outlet
- 10 Watts/2.1 Amp
- Includes separate 4 foot Lightning to USB cable
- Powered USB port
2.1 AMP OUTPUT: This ensures I have the maximum electrical output available. FYI: 2.1 amps multiplied by 5 Volts DC = 10.5 watts, but labels will only show 10 watts
COMPACT SIZE: This fits in a vehicle 12 volt socket well and protrudes only enough to get a good grip to pull it out with your fingers. Some products were unnecessarily long or bulky; I prefer simple.
REMOVABLE USB CORD: Instead of a hardwired connection, I have the versatility to swap out the Lightning cord with a USB to micro USB cord for my wife's phone or the USB to Apple 30-pin connector for the iPad. If you find nothing but the Apple OEM size of lightning connections fits with your phone case, you can buy this same item without the cord for less $ and use your own cord. Search: F8J051ttWHT (color white) or F8J051ttBLK (color black)
NO RING OF LIGHT: So many reviewers of products complained about the light ring feature being a distraction. This model features a simple round green LED light that is not much brighter than the console button lights in my car. I ended up twisting the light to the 3 o'clock position where the USB connector blocks my direct line-of sight to it. If I wanted to, a small piece of black electrical tape would cover the LED completely and easily since it is away from the USB connection. This is the 1 feature I valued to prefer it over the Belkin # F8J090bt04-BLK, which has the same power output and small form factor.
Is it cheap, no. But would I rather spend less and give up some these features.......no. I would have bought the version of this product less the 4' cord if a good coiled cord were available(I didn't like the Griffin coiled cord). Thanks for reading! The car charger I was using before this was the Kensington K39224US PowerBolt Micro Car Charger for iPad, iPhone and iPod, including iPhone 4. Since I upgraded to the iPhone 5, I only had to buy a Apple Lightning to USB Cable to keep using that one, which is 2.1 amps, like this one by Belkin.
After using the Belkin, I would say it is comparable to the Kensington charger, but it already comes with a Lightning to USB cable, so that may figure in one's comparison of their prices if one doesn't already have a cable.
In a 30 minute drive, my iPhone 5 increased in charge from 50% to 89% using the Belkin, for an average of 1.3% increase in charge per minute. This seems comparable to my former charger.
Either product is excellent, and the fact that they can charge any of the Apple products quickly, assuming you have the proper USB cables, is convenient. The iPhone wall outlet chargers are super-quick at charging. I have gone from 30% to 90% in about an hour. You get used to that kind of speed charging and this 2.1 AMP car charger give you exactly that! Initially, I scoffed at the price for these high AMP chargers and bought a 1 AMP car charger. Since my ride to work in less than 20 minutes, I would probably get 10% more charge off the 1 AMP charger, but with this 2.1 AMP charger, I manage to juice up about 25%. The really cool part of this charger is that I can pull out the USB cable and continue charging my phone via my laptop USB port.
The charger is well-designed and has a robust construction Apple worthy! The charger sits flush with my power outlet with just enough of it popping out to get an easy grip for removal. The charger does not have any edges, it blends well into the dash with only the distinctive green bezel being highlighted adds a little color to my drab dash. I also love the new low-profile negative (outer) terminal design. No more accidental snagging and ripping the terminal out of the charger. It also helps with a smoother insertion and removal from the power outlet.
The lightning connector is well designed and fits most cases without any issue (check images above)
Pros:
* Solid feel to the product. Well built and sturdy parts charger, cable and lightning connector
* Included USB Lightning cable
* Slim profile charger that sits flush and does not get in the way
* Fast charging almost as fast as a wall outlet charger. Approx 2.5 hours for a full charge
* Well designed lightning connector fits most cases without any issue
Cons:
* Pricey at $35 but not too expensive at current market rates for a 2.1 AMP charger with a reliable, detachable Lightning cable
* The charger has a Green LED that remains on when the charger is connected. It seems inefficient to power the gremlins. I have old USB car chargers that turn-off when a device is not plugged in, light up Red when charging and Green when fully charged I paid less than $10 for those chargers
* For a car, I prefer a coiled cable like this one, just keeps things compact Griffin Tech PowerJolt SE Coiled Lightning Car Charger for iPhone 5, Touch 5G, Nano 7GA great little charger. Here are the Pros and the one single Con:
Pros:
Charges Fast: 2.1 amps...speedy and powerful.
Compact: Much closer to flush on dashboard than other car chargers I've used.
Active Light: A little green light is on when the charger is receiving power, so you know it is active and charging if something is plugged in.
Lightning: Obviously this is a Lightning Cable connector, and it works as advertised with my iPhone 5. The Lightning end of the cable is nice and thin, not too thick like other non-Apple Lightning cables (such as the Amazon Basics version), so it fits through my narrow iPhone case opening with no problem.
Flexible Cable: The cable itself is nice and flexible, not too stiff or hard to manage. This is important given that you will be using this in the car and need as few additional hassles as possible.
Con:
Not Fully Backwards Compatible: This charger does not appear to be fully backwards compatible to all earlier (30-pin) iPods as advertised. Belkin claims "As long as you have the corresponding cable, you can use the charger with legacy 30-pin Apple devices." But this doesn't appear to be completely accurate. I base this on attempting to swap the Lightning cable for a USB 30-pin cable which I use with another Belkin charger and then attempting to charge my iPod Classic. It did not work, and that's a bummer. But I like this charger so much otherwise that I will not downrate it for this. However it would have been nice to use this charger with my iPod Classic. It is worth being aware of this if backwards compatibility is a necessary feature for you. It may well work with other 30-pin devices, so I'm still giving it 5 stars for what it does do, because it does it so well.
For the price and functionality this is a great Lightning Cable car charger. When the iphone 5 came out, my husband like many I am sure ran out and upgraded all of our 4's to 5's. Well...what he didn't realize is there were hardly any chargers or accessories available for the iphone 5 devices. So we have limped through many months without a car charger. It's been one of the most frustrating things about owning the new iphone. NO MORE! The Belkin Car Charger does the trick! This will charge Apple iphone 5's. 4th generation iPads, iPad mini, iPod Touch 5th generations, iPod nano 7th generations. Right now I only use it for my iPhone 5 in the car and it works perfectly. Highly recommend this product.

All manufacturers exaggerate the range of these little radios. I have used these to hear users on top of a 14,000 foot mountain from 6 miles away, but there were no obstructions between me and them. That's the best distance I've achieved. I had a lower power version of these and they worked well for several years before one of them died. I saved its battery as a spare for these and I can still use the one working with these. Most Midlands use the same rechargeable batteries, although you might carry at least four alkalines along if you expect to be away from the recharger for more than a day. If you're camping out you might want to establish a timetable to use them to extend battery life. They have excellent channel security, either with just two of them or in a group. Hearing other users of the same channel can get very annoying. The numerous privacy choices prevent that almost 100%. Like others, in a city or any enclosed space the range is very limited. The headsets can be handy of you're fishing or hunting. I've used 2-way radios for more than 40 years. The first ones I had were the size and weight of bricks. These are state-of-the-art, light, with good clips and among the best currently available.Either I've ended up with the only 10 radios Midland has made that were junk, or the other reviews are from Midland employees. My radios just won't hold a charge, stop working after 2 days or start to sound like I'm talking under water. We purchased 2 pairs of these for a video production. At first I couldn't believe how good these were. The range, albeit not a million miles like they say, was VERY VERY good! Several miles for sure. Very impressive. So we bough 3 more pairs the same week. But before the second set showed up, the first 4 started flaking out. The batteries wouldn't hold a charge. I thought they were being overcharged, but the book says to keep them on the charger when not in use.
It wasn't 2 weeks before the other ones started flaking out on us too.
Out of the 10 radios there are only 1-2 that appear to work without any issue. For the life of me, I don't see how these have gotten such great reviews since we've only had 10-20% reliability at best with the ones we've purchased.
I don't have any recommendations for any other radios since this is our first radio purchase. These have so much potential, but fall very very short! If they would just stay on and hold a charge for longer than 30 minutes, I would be in love with them because the reception/transmission signal is simply incredible (when working)!

In the past I have taken walkie talkies to the State Fair and they were unusable because of all the chattering going on. I brought the Midland GXT1000VP4 radios to the fair and randomly selected a channel and privacy setting. They worked perfectly. Not one other person broadcasted on the same channel (200,000 people in attendance). We could hear each other crystal clear. You either get a crystal clear signal or no signal at all with these radios; there is never any static. They lasted the whole day on one charge and the battery indicator still read full. The only complaint that I have is when putting them on the charger, it takes a bit of menuvering to get the charge light to go on...and I have had it go off after about 15 minutes before. In that case I reseated the one radio again and the light stayed on for the whole charging period.I recently purchased these radios after our 2-year old Motorolas were stolen. We use the radios exclusively for RVing (communicating between driver and spotter when maneuvering). The audio on these radios is MUCH better than the previous Motorolas. Menu functions seem to be a bit more intuitive as well.
The only negative I have found is "range", or lack thereof. Midland advertises 36 miles. (Yeah, I know, that's on a straight shot with nothing in between, but how many of us really use them under those conditions!) In the real world we were able to transmit about 1 mile.
I knew this limitation going in, so I wasn't disappointed.
The radios work well for our purposes.

Thanks Rhino. Thanks Amazon.I found an old battery powered lantern that belonged to my daughter (20 years ago). I decided to see if I could get it working for her to use in case of a power outage. The battery in the unit would not take a charge. The replacement battery I received was excellent. It was charge and ready for use and an exact fit. Stay far, far, far, away from this charger. I walked away from tested, good, low charge battery being charged on the 8amp setting connected to a 750CCA regular car battery and when I came back a couple hours later it was boiling and still trying to charge! I checked the charge voltage and it was at 16 volts (measured with a Fluke meter)! Bad, very bad, charger and not automatic or smart at all. This thing is NOISY. I got it to charge and maintain a battery for a back-up sump pump, was going to have it in the equipment room in the basement, so didn't think noise would be an issue for me (saw other reviewers mention it). Even so, it's too loud. There's loud humming noise from the fans which are always on, and when charging a high-pitch tone joins the mix. It also draws 10 watts at idle when not even charging. Totally not suitable for this purpose.Otherwise it seemed to charged my 75 AH maintenance-free sealed deep cycle battery no problem, and went into battery maintain mode as expected.
Update: purchased Schumacher SEM-1562A 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Maintainer and much happier now. This unit doesn't have a fan and consumes only 2 watts while maintaining, and no transformer noises. Maybe I was just trying to use wrong product for my purpose. But I did want to have the ability to charge the battery faster than over several days...

This is not what Amazon is thinks it is. They have confused the SC-12000A Schumacher Speedcharge Battery Charger, Model# SC-12000Awhich is no longer available and substantially a more powerful unit.
This listing (this one above, SC-1200A) has the correct picture and model number, but the descriptive text in the title and details touts the specs of the the 12000, not the 1200.
I sent it back today once I saw that it was the less powerful charger. I missed the Gold Box this week because I saw this unit and thought it was the better unit. I went out today and bought locally as I can't wait for an alternate item to ship.
One of the earlier reviews (4-12-2007) alludes to this issue but it appears this was not Amazon's mistake. A model number with a single zero difference enables confusion all the way around.I was hoping to find the Schumacher model 7000A 2/20 Amp charger to review, but this 1200A is just a variation on the same thing. Looks identical too. After reading bad reviews of Schumacher and Vector it's clear these companies can't do anything right. Seems any product that has a microprocessor is programmed by the incompetent. Let me tell you about Schumacher speed chargers.
They won't charge batteries that don't already have a significant charge. If your battery drops below 10 to 11 volts, forget it. You'd have to have a manual battery charger as backup for when this won't charge, which eliminates the need for this thing in the first place. The explanation from the company is that the charger has to feed off the voltage in the battery, blah, blah. The purpose of a battery charger is to charge batteries, period. Then I was lied to by the tech and told if I hold down a certain combination of buttons when plugging the unit in, it would go into manual 2A mode (where the processor doesn't decide it won't charge your battery), but I sat there on the phone with him doing just as he said, and turns out no such feature exists. The manual doesn't mention anything like that either.
The charger is totally unpredictable. It almost always goes into desulfate mode. It has never completed a charge after coming out of desulfate mode, but ends in an error. Needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to start charging again to "completion". However completion doesn't seem to get the battery to 100% power, more like 80%, if that. Sometimes it won't charge at 20A and drops down to 2A. Don't know why. And according to the manual, desulfate mode can take up to 10 hours. So much for speed charge. Need to get into your car and go somewhere? Well you may need to wait until the next day.
It has a retain mode where the charger can sit there and monitor your battery and charge when needed. Figured I'd just leave the thing on my car almost permanently. But those who programmed the thing don't understand setting upper and lower thresholds. What it should do is charge up to the upper threshold, then when the battery drops below the lower, it charges to the upper again. I therefore expected it to turn on once a day or whatever. Instead it's turning on and off every several seconds, with the fan and relay clicking on and off. That's a good way to ware out the unit in no time.
It has a 70A engine start feature just incase you don't have enough juice to quite start your car, but if the battery is low enough where the charger won't charge it, the engine start feature won't work either.
My last car battery was probably only 1.5 years old before it wouldn't even take a charge. I'm beginning to suspect the damn charger might be responsible. When going into desulfate mode for instance, I see the voltage climb up to well over 16 volts. I don't know if that's good for the battery.
The simple act of charging a battery can be turned into a stressful nightmare with this crappy charger. Stay far away from Schumacher. It's clear they can't build a realiable charger, nor does it appear they've actually tried out their own products before dumping them onto the public.

I bought this to assemble my own car emergency kit. It's the only item with the length and gauge I wanted. Quality control is not great, since 2 of the clamps were missing the glow in the dark "Polarity labels", but other than that it does what it's supposed to do. No complaints.Read Best Reviews of Coleman Cable 08466 16-Feet Medium-Duty Booster Cables, 8-Gauge Here
First of all, when I got my shipment the box the cables come in was thrashed. Second the construction of this item is mediocre, I guess there isn't much to say about jumper cables as long as they work and they work.TIF Instruments TIF8800A Combustible Gas Detector With Visual Leak Size Indicators

- Applications include gas lines and pipes aids in identifying heat exchanger leaks and hazardous living and working environments
- Unique flexible 15 inch stainless probe allows you to access hard to reach places
- Adjustable sensitivity with an audible Geiger counter type signal
- The TIF8800A is NOT an effective Carbon Monoxide detector, see TIF8500A
I'm a third generation HVAC installer and service technician. I've had one of these units for about 12 years now and it is every bit as accurate and reliable as the day I bought it.
It is capable of measuring tiny gas leaks with astounding accuracy. The probe is flexible, which is extremely handy (and pretty much a necessity).
I laughed when I saw this one on Amazon because it looks identical to the one I bought 12 years ago. I would have imagined they would have updated it. Then again, if something isn't broken why fix it?
It is durable, easy to hear and holds a charge for a very long period of time. It is adjustable and can be set for small or large gas presence.
For professional or DIY use this is the meter to buy.
The only downside is the battery pack. They are not common and cannot be bought at your local hardware store. You'll have to buy them online. They cost around $20 for the battery pack. They last about 5-6 years with constant use. They are rechargeable, but like all batteries they eventually need to be replaced.
Buy TIF Instruments TIF8800A Combustible Gas Detector With Visual Leak Size Indicators Now
Just received this detector from Amazon and turned the unit on outside to set the sensitivity and started testing the gas lines in my house. Five minutes later I found a natural gas leak in the basement! Background:
We have two of the wall plug-in type CO / Gas detectors. Occasionally one will sound its alarm. The other one doesn't. Then they reverse which one alarms. They do this days, weeks, even months apart. It seemed so random, plus no smell, that it seemed to be false alarms. Still, there was that nagging feeling. That's why I ordered the TIF 8800A.
The TIF 8800A did not indicate any gas in the house in general. The sniffer tip had to be placed right next to a fitting to get an increase in the warning level, but it did go right up the scale quickly when by that fitting. I suspect the leak is very, very small and that the other two alarms really were giving false alarms. I will have the leak fixed, of course. The alarm level drops to zero even two inches from the fitting.
I highly recommend this detector for anyone with gas to their house. There really is no other way to tell for sure if you have a leak (the bubble test doesn't always work). This is a very effective sniffer for natural & propane gas. We use many of them in our gas business and thay work so good, I bought my own.

This unit is build to last, as long you do not drop it, the tif 8800A is very sensitve to gas, it detected the gas fume under my house from the side vent. I love this unit, if you need to locate a small leak under the house, like I did, this unit will find it. I like the tif 8800A because it has a light indicator in addition to the beeping sound.I bought this because I was installing my own gas water heater and I've learned long ago that having the right tools is the key to success.I researched this model 8800A over the others and went to the manufacturer website and decide this was the exact model to get.
This paid for itself the first time I used it because I found a small leak upon completion and re-teflon taped a fitting and checked again, and all was well. When it comes to combustible gas, you want to be perfect, not close-enough.
I've also used this in the attic to check shutoff valves near the gas furnace, etc.
Recently I moved a large, multi-sectioned stainless steel propane grill from one house to the next. It was so large and so heavy we had to take it apart in pieces, which meant disconnecting lines.
What a great peace of mind to know that when we finally got it to the new house, we could check for gas leaks. We were fine, but my friend wasn't convinced. We turned the gas on briefly without lighting and tested the detector and it worked like a charm. We let the air clear and all was well. I was only then comfortable knowing that all of the fitting, fasteners, adapters, lines, everything was leak-free.
I recently saw a home improvement show on the Network channels and saw the same signature red Tif Instrument gas detector being used by a professional house inspector and I felt good knowing that I was using the same equipment a professional would choose. The only downside is that your friends want you to check their houses, too!
Update 2/28/2011:
====================
I still love the peace of mind of this device. We recently purchased a stone gas fireplace set (with grate, burner, stone logs, etc). I was able to use this to ensure that all connections were indeed leak free, etc. I also used this for a portable propane heater that sits on top of a propane tank and verify the connections were also leak free. I plan to build an outdoor built-in grill/patio and this will again come in handy.

Belkin Micro Charger for Apple iPhone (Black)
This unit from Belkin is a nice contrast to the bargain basement cables.
The cable is thick-even thicker than the original Apple supplied cable. As a rough guideline, it is roughly 2/3 as thick as a typical ethernet cable. That may or may not translate to better performance, but at least it feels like the thing won't fall apart in six months.
The connectors are solidly attached. They are not one-piece molded, but have a rubber-like sleeve extending about 1/4" down the cable, so there is at least some stress relief on the connector. In other words, the wires should stay attached to the connector for normal use.
The apple connector body is quite a bit larger than the metal connector, meaning it may be a tight fit for some iphone cases, although mine works just fine. The plastic case is roughly 1/4" wider than the metal part of the connector in all dimensions.
The power adapter also appears quite well made, and it USB connector on it holds the cable tight enough so that it isn't going to fall out. All the surfaces are smooth and the corners are nicely rounded.
The black finish is looks pretty cool against my black iphone/case and ipad (which lives in a black case).
I didn't measure the charging times, but I tried it on both my iPhone4 and iPad3, and it seemed to charge as quickly as I have ever seen it. This is not always the case with the cheaper cables-where charging can take 2x or 3x longer.
My iPhone synched through the cable to my PC with no issues.
The only negative is that the cable is a bit stiff, and wants to maintain its original "kinks", and puts up a little bit of a fight when you try to coil it up. Hardly worth mentioning.
Overall, I'd be happy with this product, and will probably buy additional units to scatter throughout the house. If you have something that charges from a USB and you need to charge it from a standard wall outlet is the way to go. Plugs into the a wall charger and will take any USB interface, regular or micro. I use it to keep my Iphone and Ipad topped off on when stuck in airports or waiting rooms. Works well, no headaches. This version doesn't come with a USB cord so you have to provide it.

This was a good charger for my ipod touch. It does exactly what it is supposed to and I love the fact that you can use it to plug into the computer too. Overall it's a good charger.Read Best Reviews of Belkin Micro Charger for Apple iPhone (Black) Here
Belkin is such a trustworth brand and this is something I needed. I am so afraid to go with a lesser known brand for fear that it would ruin my device. I highly recommend it. I also love that it's compact and easy to carry.Want Belkin Micro Charger for Apple iPhone (Black) Discount?
Extra chargers are always handy. This one is particularly handy because it has the option to be used both as a USB charger and a wall charger. The cable is sturdy and a good length. As other reviewers have pointed out, it tends to stay permanently kinked but that seems minor. It's a bit on the pricey side but not bad for a high quality, versatile charger.Battery Tender 021-1163 5W Solar Maintainer

I bought this to use as a battery tender for our boat which doesn't get enough use. I built a mount out of ABS pipe so I could mount it above the boat lift. It works very well, it charges even when the sun is hidden behind clouds and I have not had any dead battery probems since. Having a visible indicator that it is working is a nice feature. It is a good quality product that doesn't seem to be bothered by the weather. My only complaint is that they (the mfg) doesn't tell you which model to use for a given purpose. That would be helpful.

I bought this item to keep the battery on my car in shape. The car has sat since December and had a dead battery. The battery was fully charged in a day and I am very happy with how well it works. I would give it 5 stars but the cables are very short. I have a Mini Cooper with the battery in the trunk and the cable could not reach the front seat, if I had to connect in the engine bay I would be forced to buy the extension.Want Battery Tender 021-1163 5W Solar Maintainer Discount?
I purchased a Deltran Battery Tender JR 5 years ago as well as a motorcycle battery. Both the battery tender and the battery are still going strong 5 years later, this is not a typo! Yes, I said 5 years! Anyone who owns a motorcycle (especially a Harley) knows that you typically replace batteries every 2 years. Because of the performance of my battery tender Jr I decided to pick up this Deltran Solar Panel. I recently had to move my bike to a garage with no electricity and had to install the solar panel on the outside of the garage fully exposed to the elements. I've only had it about 2 months but I must say that this solar panel has performed above expectations. We have had some of the craziest weather on record in New Jersey. Warm days, cold days, heavy rains, 50 mph winds, 3 and 4 days at a time without sunlight. Yeah, Mother Nature has been sending us all kinds of craziness. So today I decided to go to my garage and see what kind of mess this solar panel was in. At the very least I expected to find the panel damaged by all the rain we've had. To my amazement it was working perfectly! It was 2 in the afternoon and cloudy due to all the rain and the solar panel LED was green indicating a fully charged battery. The panel has not been hit with any sunlight for 2 days yet it has been able to fully maintain my 5 year old battery. Another great product by Deltran.UPDATE 3/28/2013: Here we are over a year after purchasing this Solar Panel and it continues to work great. It has been through some of the worst storms on record here in the East Coast without sustaining damage. My "very old" motorcycle battery continues to be maintained. The bike started easily even after 6 months of sitting in storage.I purchased two of these for my bikes and have been using them for months. The bike batteries are fresh each time I use them. These are great for storage locations without power. The packaging was good and the products arrived in perfect condition.
The only defect I can see with these solar chargers is that the charging/full indicator lights are located on the controller which is fixed to the solar panel. If the solar panel is mounted on a roof it's kind of hard to see the indicator lights. Battery tender should provide a control unit that can be located remote from the solar panel so that it can be placed in a location where the indicator lights are easily viewable.
